I'm just sitting in front of a macbook air 11in. Are the colors comparable? Are black colors really black or more grayish? How is the brightness compared to the macbook air 11in?

Wrong. i didnt say anything about what you are asking and dont think so about. if you want a Yes answer, razer blade's design is retina macbook pro 15 and the retina macbook pro design doesn't come from anywhere but apple, its the truth but I dont expect you to believe it :)

Can you guys post your GPU/CPU temps when playing a game and idle/load temps on your Blade 14''?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the links, actually saw one earlier but didn't last long watching it.

I would honestly really appreciate videos that have some detail as to the unit. When they ordered it, how long it took, all that. So far, they've sadly just been literal unboxing. Lol. But still, grats to them! Pretty sure they're gonna enjoy them.

To be honest im not so excited for unboxings anymore, maybe ill watch one of the professional ones later. Razer has done a really good job of introducing the laptops.

What i really want to see if someone take the back cover off. I also want to see what the new motherboard looks like on the alienware 14.

Not that id do it if it were mine laptop....

Yeah, exactly. Lol. I'd watch a really unique unboxing though =P

I'm probably going to do an unboxing just for documentation purposes, for the very remote chance of receiving one DOA, I'll have video proof. Other than that, probably a text/blog review.

Yeah that's how I feel. When I receive my unit I plan to do a full review, however, I don't think I'll get mine any sooner than anyone else that's likely planning on posting a video.
They're fun, just teases for us that don't have our units yet!

Edit: Do any of you guys know how the Blade does battery notifications? I know on the Pro with the bigger power button it will change to yellow, red and flash and stuff. However, with the smaller button on the Blade does the same thing happen?

Teasing indeed. Both new videos seem to be from fairly young guys, so I'm not entirely expecting anything too detailed yet. Most techier guys are probably still busy taking it apart and putting it back together to be posting videos =P (good luck to those that do!)

The pinch to zoom in/out on this trackpad is way sensitive. Anyone know how to change the settings? I end up zooming instead of scrolling sometimes.

Is this on the Blade or Pro?

This multi gesture track pad is gonna be new for me. Will it work like macs when swiping up and down to scroll up and down in any page? (browser, word file, etc). My current laptop doesn't have that feature I think, so I've only been able to try them on other macs.

This is the Blade 14in. It works like a mac with natural scrolling like on the phone with two fingers. When I scroll up or down the trackpad is really sensitive to the 2 fingers moving apart from each other and causing the zoom in/out function to kick in. Something I just got to get used to I think. The good part is this trackpad is super sensitive, which is great for gaming!

I guess my question is, how do they determine who to ship and when?

Some of us ordered it "pre-order" time and we still haven't received it. And some of us "just" ordered it and they are receiving before the pre-order list? Not sure how that works?

I have no idea too, since I was trying to determine why. What comes to mind initially is payment method, since that could be the only thing that's variable other than shipping address. Still, should only be a few days apart.

Yeh, they have to work on their logistics.

I ordered a blade 14 w/512 ssd on June 3 12:03am and the status barely changed to order in process.

Doesn't make sense why people who ordered a few days ago got theirs already. I am on the west coast.... Well on a island in hawaii.

I don't get what you folks mean by payment options? My visa not good enough?

This reminds me when I bought my OQQ. Everyone preordered early and I ordered one the day of release and got my OQO before the folks who preordered a month before.

Now I know how it feels to be on the other side of the coin.

    End rant.

I really hope my order gets shipped today, but have a feeling it will not.

I imagine it will end up being a difference of only a few days, but I did my best to "get in line" early for this, so it's strange that others who ordered long after have had their orders ship sooner.

    Commence internet outrage! :)

I'll double check with her if she actually understood whether she was getting it today or tomorrow, or it was just getting shipped. She's just buying it for her relative overseas as well, so she may not be all that familiar. She seemed pretty spot on saying that FedEx would be delivering it though.

By payment options, was just referring to the time some payments clear, not your financial state. Lol. I've had my share of problems with a big purchase before, from banks to credit cards, so it's familiar ground too. My most recent one was a big payment being split into multiple small payments because of a limit I wasn't aware of, definitely pushed back my order by a few days.

Could it be possibly that there are other stuff in your order other than the Blade itself?

I'm pretty sure there's something we're not seeing that makes sense why some orders are going faster than others. Hopefully it's nothing too extreme. Maybe emailing their order support would help expedite it? I know I did, just to get an update. Maybe it helped. Worth a shot!

If that is the only reason for waiting, then my advice is to just go for it.
Get it, then skip IPS and get whatever is coming in 4-5 years, which will be a huge leap from what you have, which is what really matters.

So Razer won't be out with an IPS edition next year? Am I probably gonna have to wait long? I would prefer to get the machine before the big titles like The Witcher 3 is out.

    Hey!

In my opinion, if the only thing that's stopping you is next year's release, go for it. With that mindset, you'll never be able to make a decision if you wait for the next reiteration, especially with how quick technology is changing nowadays. When IPS panels Blades come out next year, who knows, there might be a good addition, similar from TN to IPS, expected for the next model too (be it in another spec or design).

I agree with that post saying that you get this one, and if cost is an issue by next year, you get the one after that. I follow this concept with my phones as well, I went from no iPhone to a 4 straight away since this was the big jump, and skipped all the way to the 5 - which I even argue isn't that huge of a change.

Even after that, I'm using an s3 now =p

Anyway back the point, but related to my iPhone jumps, I believe this 14' is synonymous to getting the iPhone 4. The jumps to the Blade next year and even possibly the year after that isn't as big as a jump from none today to a Blade today (or soon), in my opinion.

    Just do it! =P

I installed Ubuntu and it works reasonably well. Unfortunately neither the Intel HD4600 nor the nvidia GPUs work properly at the moment. Also, the trackpad doesn't get detected as a trackpad, but instead as a generic mouse. Hopefully the graphics issues will get fixed as more people use those gpus on linux (and when official drivers support them!).

nice feedback. I hope these details can be fixed. I agree on the GPU issue, should be solved soon as nvidia will release a driver.

What about the switchblade, can it work as a second extended screen? Would be great to put a terminal in there and save many screen switches.

I have the 14 inch, so I'm not sure. I did read a thread on the Ubuntu forums that someone was not able to get the switchblade to work, although that was on the old Razer Blade.

Otherwise, it is a pretty easy install though. I didn't have to fiddle around to install any drivers (other than the touchpad and GPU, neither of which I could get to work properly).

    Well put.

With regard to concerns that the Blade is using a TN panel, one should remember there are good TN panels and along with the bad ones. The TN display in the Blade 17 R2 was highly rated by AnandTech, hopefully the same holds for the new Blades: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6351/the-new-razer-blade-thoroughly-reviewed/7

As with many others here, the display was my main issue with this notebook, before ordering. My take, if the display in the Blade 14 is as good as the pre-Retina MacBook Pro (also a TN panel), I'm happy. When it gets refreshed with a IPS or next-gen panel, there is a good chance it'll be slightly thicker because of the stronger lamps normally needed for IPS illumination (along with the additional power consumption). Hopefully by then the Windows OS and applications scale properly to ultra-high resolution displays. Until then, resolutions like in the rMBP are more hindrance than helpful. At the moment, 1600x900 makes sense for a 14 inch display and is a good match for the GTX765M's performance.

Side note: my Blade 14 256GB (ordered 6/3) just went from "Processing" to "Shipped" to "Delivery Exception" in less than 8 hours. Now I just have to track down which Fedex office it's sitting at. Still, great news.

That Blade intake they had this week must have been an entire cargo container full. Glad to see they're processing so much faster now! They're really saturating the US market quick. Watch that announcement on the 25th become opening channels to EU/Asia!
