Here's what I just sent to Razer:
Their reply to this will determine whether or not I consider Razer products when evaluating future purchases.
-
So everyone who got an email about a delay ordered the 512 GB? I expect they thought the 256 GB would be the most popular, and so they made up a bunch of those first, and then switched over to the 512.
-
Do you still have his email? Because I preordered the Blade 14 inch (256GB) on the first morning of preorders and got backordered almost immediately for 2-4 weeks. I don't understand how someone that ordered the exact same model as me on Tuesday already have their order. I have emailed Razer many times in the last few days about this issue and have not gotten an answer to this question.
-
Best of luck. I've found that just being calm and logical, while having a lot of references to support usually yields the best results.
Can't really expect a response, to be honest, but rest assured that he's most probably read that message and has noted it down. I believe the second drive has been answered though. I suspect you'll be getting more answers from actually asking us those questions rather than support.
Unlikely, since my friend's 512 is arriving tomorrow. I really don't see a pattern anymore. I can imagine the frustration since that's exactly how I'd feel. Truly hope that they'd compensate in some way. -
I preordered the blade 14 inch 256GB early on June 3 and the next day I received a backorder notice for 2-4 weeks. But my order status has been "Order In Status" for over a week.
-
Usually how this works is they farm out the logistics to UPS Logistics or some such and they just get the units directly and a batch of shipping destinations in a manifest (customers) then fulfill them the best way they can. I bet they have a huge list and are just fulfilling it their own way to be most efficient with no knowledge of who ordered first. I could be all wrong about this but I would suspect Razer would not knowingly treat passionate pre-order customers this way if they had been fulfilling by hand and had control over the order.
We'll probably never know unless a statement is made. -
I posted that on his FB where he responds to everyone and brangs about how he was with this payboys models and . People asked whats the name of the PB chick and he instantly replied.. But someone complains about his company and i want expect a response? not even a stupid we are working on it.. :S
-
The whole situation with backorders really sucks, but honestly that's not the most professional email especially if you're sending it to a CEO. Doesn't matter how down-to-earth or chill he seems, he probably gets tons of angry and disgruntled emails. If you want to be taken seriously and expect a response then write a proper email. -
Unfortunate that he was unable to respond. I tweeted him a link to the pages with the discussion of your orders here, hopefully he'll have the time to look through them and follow them up himself. Fingers crossed.
-
Here's an email I sent to Razer:
-
HAHA wait for that email telling you that they dont know when it will ship...
-
Very nice email.
My letter is almost exactly the same, except I told them to cancel my order if they can not fulfill the order in one week time. Or they can ship it to where I will be in two weeks (California 9.x% tax) and only charge hawaii taxes (4.x%).
I kind of decided to buy a blade on impulse. I guess my first experience with Razer is not a good one. This might be a good thing, cause I know I was settling with this laptop (tn screen). -
Thing that scares me now is what is going to happen when we have an issue and really need fast support?
-
I know i spent a while looking for their phone number... Had to use google to find it.. and they werent helpful at all..
-
Honestly, the price is a tad ridiculous....the size and weight would PROBABLY be good for internet surfing and light gaming, nothing more....but for 2000$, and only one hard drive that is a SSD? No thanks.
-
I think the CEO should be less worried about "scalpers" (see his Facebook page) and more concerned about shipping product to those who pre-ordered.
-
Genius! Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to?
-
Does anyone have their Blade 14'' and can post their CPU/GPU temps on idle and load?
-
In the past their support team has always been very quick. And seem to have their own stock of stuff for them.
Also:
I don't think it was so hard to find how to contact them.
Go to : http://www.razersupport.com/
Click systems then a product.
The phone number and contact us button is on the left side.

I agree. It's a tad embarrassing that orders went out to these scalpers first.
I'd really appreciate it if the anger can be kept civilized and exclude the unnecessary vulgarity and rage. I'm sure there's a smoother way to go about this. I mean, last thing you'd want is for this really helpful thread to deteriorate, or worse, be locked, right?
Regarding the price argument again, I'm not gonna bother to start. If the first thing you look at is price, it's clearly not the product for you. -
Well, someone's hunch was partly right. I had to do some cleaning up in the thread. We get that you are angry, but still, the forum rules are pretty clear on language and posting private correspondence, you can summarize or paraphrase what was in the e-mails you received, but you can't directly copy/paste them.
Also, sorry for any inconvenience our anti-spam filters are causing, they aren't working properly at the moment and we have to manually approve some posts that should go through. The tech team is still working on a fix. -
Agree with everything you said. And regarding the price, plenty of people seem willing to pay. Many people here are angry they won't take their money fast enough after all.
-
The thread is getting ridiculous. If people want to vent about ordering from Razer set up a new one. Let's keep things civil and focused on asking and answering questions and providing useful feedback on the devices. Wish I was a moderator at this point... notebook review gods, are you listening?
How long does it take for a 10-15 min YouTube video to clear? I uploaded a longer one about the blade 14 at 2am last night.... -
true 10char
-
Its hard to not get ridiculous when out of the 30 people in see that preordered their system you are the only one that actually got a system =) many of us got an email today telling to so suck it up, and wait.. When we ask them how long? they answer they dont know... So dont talk about ridiculous
-
Good point!
Min himself has said that he envisions Razer to become a Ferrari or Lambhorgini type of brand, not a Toyota. I honestly don't think the first thing someone looks at when buying a Ferrari is the price. I'd argue it's a trivial thing that's settled once he's decided to actually get one. At the minimum, it's still a price point he's willing to pay even if he's short financially.
Incredibly quick response actually! From the time I posted, to the time I had to edit to address some other posts, it was already moderated. Kudos to quick action.
From what I remember in uploading some videos before, it could take up to a day, if I'm not mistaken? It shouldn't though, seeing as how it's only a couple of minutes. -
I disagree; the issues some of us are having with shipping is intrinsically related to the launch of the new laptops.
But, it does seem like these aren't the forums for me, so take care all. Hope the laptops work out well. -
We should definitely create a separate shipping status thread and leave this to strictly technical discussion of the laptop itself
Edit: This also speaks to the need at this point to have a separate manufacturer section for Razer.
Edit 2: there should also be separate areas for the Blade 14 and Blade pro 17 and then the legacy products. -
John's video was great. I'd love to see gameplay and speed....
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Just make separate threads
-
Do you know if you have to pay the tax when the laptop is deliver to you or just pays off my credit card that I used to pay the laptop?
-
I posted this in the wrong thread, so here it is where it should have been in the first place.
I'm a bit confused about the math. Most games I've encountered tend to max out the GPU and the CPU runs close to max. If this thing has a 47W CPU and a 75W GPU, what would the average power consumption be while running a game? Even if it were 70W combined (including the power drawn by the rest of the components, of which the fans themselves are not negligible), won't the 70Whr battery get drained in an hour? How are they claiming 3+ hrs then? -
That's still a hands-on from E3, even if it is a bit more critical than your typical prerelease puff piece. I would wait until the embargo breaks before jumping to any conclusions (components do change between preview and release). Ideally, notebookcheck.net will get their hands on the machine and give an objective assessment--their reviews are consistently the best as far as displays, heat and other quantifiable factors are concerned.
Anecdotally, the laptop I've been using for the last two years was roundly crapped on for having an awful screen (terrible black levels, contrast, RGB coverage, etc.) After using the right ICC profile, and spending a few days away from the glorious screen on my previous machine (a Vaio Z), I stopped noticing it completely and now it seems totally fine to me. Then again, I usually watch Netflix on an external monitor. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its a 37w, unless you mean the pro, which indeed uses a 47w one. We dont have the power consumption of the gpu.
however when gaming on battery, both the cpu and gpu wont reach max clocks, because the battery cant provide enough power for barely 1 component alone -
So where can i find a customer service phone number? to ask questions about my order? or credit card questions...?
-
I would say if it is related to a System in any way just call them. So far they are very friendly.
-
So far the only thing that made sense from that review was a comment at the bottom. That makes Perfect sense if you are serous about gaming and getting the best performance.
"1600x900 resolution is better for a 14" gaming notebook than 1080p, because that would needlessly drag down the GPU."
And it is true if you think about it.
-
uh, did my last post get deleted or something? that would be ridiculous... or maybe I didn't press post reply. anyway, review is up
Razer Blade 14 Review (very unofficial) - YouTube
just realizing that about 75 percent of the video is just the camera staring at the closed laptop. but hey, I shot this at like 2 in the morning so cut me slack. -
"The 14-inch screen, which is 3 inches smaller than previous Blades, sits at a resolution of 1600 x 900. It's not the most dazzling display, to say the least. While the resolution on the 16:9 display was lacking, the color saturation and viewing angles left much to be desired"
This sounds really bad

I do, it's called youdon'tsayblog.com
come subscribe

Good review. I don't think your post got deleted. I believe you posted in the Razer Blade Owner's Lounge and not in this one for that post.
-
May be right

good impressions, me likes it -
Just letting everyone know my situation on the whole thing:
Ordered the Blade 512GB late last night June 20th around 10PM PST (they took it as 6/21 though on the Order Details)
Status has gone from "Order Submitted" to "Order in Process". Wonder if i'll get that back-order e-mail or something like that.. -
Let us know if it changes.
-
Now that i remember I got the back-order message back on june 13th and i ordered it on june 11th. The message said 1-2 Weeks.
That would mean that it should arrive next week. I hope it is true. -
nice video. that power brick alone makes me wanna get this. all the R&D and fine touches that went into the Blade makes me think the price is somewhat justified. gotta support companies willing to take risks in the name of advancement, otherwise we'd continue to be stuck with chunky clunky laptops with crap trackpads and opossum-sized power bricks.
-
That's definitely not a proper review, they did that from experience on the e3 floor. I'm waiting for people like verge, anandtech, etc.. to get them into their review labs and properly measure temps, noise levels, screen accuracy, brightness, contrast, benchmarks etc...
Truthfully I don't care too much about viewing angles as long as the panel has decent brightness and black levels. 99.9% of the time it's going to just be me looking at it head on. I'm spoiled by the quality of the gamer 7 panel, I know it won't be as good but as long as it's good enough to game on I'll be happy. The panel on my Asus N61jq is not great, I'm sure it's better than that. -
Wow johnobts - I'm convinced. You should get a cut from Razer. =)
