    @John

You said in your review, that u owned an Alienware M15x. Did you have the 1600 x 900 Screen? How does the Blade's screen compare to the M15X Screen?

Thanks for the review on youtube !

M15x was the 1080p screen if I recall. Had great color and contrast but way too reflective BC of the plastic in front of it. Like the matte Razer screen. Its definitely sharper in my opinion. You know ive owned every alienware mxx iteration except an m14x.

I rarely watch long videos in YouTube, but that was well worth it. Thanks John! I have a reference to when I do a review on the Pro too. It'd be great if you could do some scene shots with your Blade! =P

Did anyone on here get their 512gb 14 inch from amazon? I can't get any info from razer , amazon, or the ceo's twitter as to whether they had or will have it. Can anyone just answer my question of whether amazon will actually get the 512gb version? Maybe we can extrappollate a pattern by observing if amazon has carried all sizes of past Razer systems like the Blade R1 and R2?...I'm sure someone on here knows...Also, to the mods, I'm not a spammer ok? I just really want help with this...so please, stop forbidding my posts. I have an honest question I need help with.

I wish :) I would love just a tour of their engineering/design department, see what things are coming next year and beyond. They have a very talented team. That and take Min out for a cup of coffee and talk about life and gaming. Oh, and get my right track pad button tweaked a little (don't like loose track pad buttons, its a minor quibble). The first Blade 14 was perfect aside from the faulty keyboard lighting.

I know they aren't paying you but I couldn't help it. Razer has a lot of haters but I have been a fan since I first purchased a copperhead in 2005. Great video review btw thanks again.

It seems we've gotten through to Min! Patience definitely is going to pay off for those who haven't cancelled yet. Taken from his Facebook half an hour ago:

"We've had some feedback from customers who placed their pre-orders for the Razer Blade and have not received their order despite the fact we've already started shipping and I've looked into the situation.

Our launch pre-orders are taken and processed on a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) basis but as our launch inventory is spread out in distribution centers throughout North America – the more popular DCs are depleted of stock faster than some of the other DCs – so if you’re based in the range of a DC with a lot of pre-orders, your order may be shipped later than someone who may have placed his order later in a DC that has fewer pre-orders.

If you're one of the affected parties, we apologize for this and are now manually prioritizing routing of the units on a unit by unit basis (i.e. manually processing and moving units around from DCs to you)- we should be able to pull in the schedule significantly from what has been updated to you.

Again - this is only for customers who placed their pre-orders and have not received their order and we apologize for this as the demand has just been incredible for the new Razer Blade.

This situation only applies to launch quantities as our follow up shipments from the main warehouse are done on a as-demand basis and we should be able to catch up to committed shipment dates shortly.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we hope to address it as soon as possible."

Incredible response time and address from a CEO. I really hope this works out much better for those affected!

Don't be too hasty. Neither amazon nor anyone at Razer has been able to tell me if amazon will even receive the other sizes of the Razer blade. We could be SOL anyway for all I know...

I want to try some of the stuff the TechRadar guy was smoking when he wrote that review.

I'd take that 2-4 weeks back-order update with a grain of salt. I got that email too, then out of the blue, the notebook shows up a week later.

I vote for johnnobts to start the official Blade 14 owners thread (btw, nice job on the videos).

I agree. I knew that the MacBook Pro could house more powerful hardware with smaller adjustments, and Razer did just that. They also use a standard mSATA for the SSD, no proprietary crap. If they had added Thunderbolt, I would say the laptop is perfect. The battery life seems a little low though, which is strange since Nvidia Optimus is supported as far as I know.

I would like order this laptop if only it was available internationally... sigh.

my guess is that after all this out of stock madness amazon will eventually get all the variations of the blade. lets say, 1 month from now.

Just got my Blade Pro. Its even better looking in person than it is in photos. Fans are much more quiet than on the MBPr (a little louder than the Envy 3xxx imho but only slightly). Screen is very nice as well, left/right viewing angles are fantastic for a TN screen, up/down a little worse. GPU is great, and man it looks to be like a real mean OC'er. Here is a first run at oc'ing the 765M.

Syncs well with my timeframe since I'm arriving in exactly a week too.

I've been lurking this forum for a while bcs I'm trying to source one to Australia without it being to costly. How did you purchase yours? I'm thinking buying from Amazon, which I'm not even sure when their ETA for shipment is and neither razer or amazon can confirm anything, or just get a straight up proxy to buy it and ship it to me.

Does anyone know if I purchase one in the next few days if the whether my status is 2-4 weeks? It seems the stock have started shipping

    Thanks all!

I coursed mine through relatives residing in the US, to avoid any complications with Amazon or proxies (I really don't know how those proxies work either, they seem risky though).

I would suspect that if you do order now, I'd actually give 2 weeks. Stocks really seem to be coming in and seems that they're going to be done addressing the preorder wave this week. Next week for those afterwards, so probably two weeks from now if you order this week. Just a guess =)

Australia, I'd still check with JB if they have plans of ordering and when. IIRC, for the previous version of the Blade, they actually preordered and purchased some for their stores here, saw one in Sydney not too long after the release. I didn't get it though, mark up was huge to say the least.

They are in line with modern SSD's.

I just took this from my Transcend SSD720 in my Gamer 7. It used to be over 500 on the read. That was a few firmwares and alot of time ago, shrug..

EDIT: hah I just realized not all the tests were done.. owell.. safe to say it's a fast SSD in the Razer.
EDIT2: Uploaded a new one on the same version of diskmark with ESET NOD32 disabled. Worse in some, better in others than the old version. Razer 4K Write speed is way faster, my SSD is a little old now though, and it was cheap :)

Do you remember how much of a mark up they were roughly? Because buying it through proxy, amazon etc. will end up being a 600-700 USD mark up due to shipping, customs (pain), and other fees.

its a pretty average SSD, with reasonable 4k results and not so good sequential writes, though Im not overly concerned with sequential, thats the least that matters

The R2 was roughly $2,600 right? The one I saw in JB was $3,700 AU. Quite more, I guess, but way more convenient in JB in my opinion. I actually suspect that their markup might be getting smaller with every revision of the Blade since they would (hopefully) know more about how much to order and stuff. I think that unit was actually a single purchase preorder and not bought as a reseller, since there was no 'tag' on it like the usual laptops, I had to ask for more details intentionally.

I suggest asking them first though, before risking with proxies. Though I really don't know how those proxies work, so if there's a really legit and credible one out there, why not :)

Glad you are liking the Pro screen! Just got my Blade 14 today, it's a crime to put this screen on a $2,000 laptop. Up down angle has a sweet spot of about an inch of head movement.
Form factor is great, trackpad and keyboard are great, but I don't think I can keep it with this screen. Spoiled by my 13 MacBook Pro Retina and also a 11.6 Acer S7.
Going to do some gaming and see what I think, but if I had to decide right now, its going back.

The terrible viewing angles is what stop me from buying the razer blade. To be honest, I'm fine with the resolution, but I can't justify spending $2000 on a laptop with a TN panel.

Actually it says the MacBook air has a PCIe ssd, not msata, whereas the blade has an msata ssd. Nice if you want to replace it, but it will void the warranty. That does account for some of the speed differences though.

I am much more worried about the screen tbh

thats because the mba uses a sata express SSD, there are only 1 company that makes a decent one, the samsung XP841, crucial and sandisk make a very good one for reading sequentially (dont have benchies on the only thing that matter the 4k results), and there are people using the SF2281 on the m.2/NGFF format that is, as expected, what the SF2281 can provide you.

and talk about a poor job, a site calle SSD review, doesnt post the 4k results, pitiful

not really, you can only get those speeds if you have a slot that is sata express, and the razer blade appears to be sata3

I don't think you understood me. Pcie is pci express, and msata means sata, yes. So they are not the same connection, therefore different devices, and aren't really comparable as why the performance isn't as good as mba.

But yes l believe Razer said that they were sata3 which you would expect after all.

came across this by accident. Power book G3 from 1999. Amazing. This was right before jobs came back and made the first ibook.

    5423737991_3e954050b2_b.jpg

Also, the Macbook pros have not changed that much from the first aluminium powerbook. the hinge looks the same. This is 10 years ago. I guess when apple designs somethings they really go all out the first time round.

not really, since the msata is indeed using a mpcie interface.
sata express is the new development from sata, its a bridge between sata and the SF something something dark side.

sata express is going to use a backwards compatible connection to sata 3 and probably sata 2, the new connector for the small sizes is the NGFF/m.2, be it either gumstick (what you see in the new thin and lights like the rmbp, mba, u51) and the smaller msata that we see now.

if I remember correctly the chipset that razer is using is the HM87 that comes with pcie 2.0 x8, all the other needed pcie lanes are provided by the cpu itself, at pcie 3.0 x16

How would you compare the colors to the macbook? Are they washed out a bit or are they actually vibrant? I'm getting mine tomorrow, don't want to be disappointed then and would rather be now expecting it. :D

Well, after having my 14" Blade for a day I'm still undecided. As has been said, the main issue is the screen. You have about an inch of vertical sweet spot otherwise it quickly gets washed out. In addition, my Orochi 2013 continues to randomly disconnect for some reason. Never had this issue using it with my MSI GT60 so I know the mouse is good. I can only assume it's an issue with the Killer card/drivers. Then again, it could just be this piece of crap Windows 8 that's causing it. I've also had Metro Last Light totally freeze with a GPU driver not responding error. I'm hoping that's just because the drivers supplied are old.

I'd really like to try Windows 7 before making my final decision. Has anyone had any lucking getting Win 7 on a Blade? I created a USB boot disk and disabled secure boot but it still wouldn't boot into Windows Setup. I got some kind of UEFI error.

That's a shame.. if only the viewing angles were sufficient..

I got notice that my product was on back-order, so I have a bit of time to decide whether or not I will cancel my back-order.

I don't want to, but the screen still worries me now after hearing that even after watching johnnobts' video.
