My current notebook has even worse viewing angle problems. While I am spoiled by my 1440p IPS, my low end laptop screens have never bothered me that much. At least this one is bright! My Asus laptops were always so dark.
-
they fixed the shipping issue? i see it says Ships in 5-7 business days
-
There wasn't really anything to fix other than the mess ups they had in the priority of their orders, the shipping times were normal for a newly launched product. They've probably just caught up with demand faster now.
-
Only within US & Canada, don't expect to see them in other countries like Australia, Signapore, Malaysia... etc in about a month or two.

Where did you get these estimates? -

But 10m divided by 20000 is indeed 500 -
I watched that viewing angle video...and honestly, I don't know what sort of super high preferences other people in this thread have, but coming from an m15x with the same resolution screen in a 15.6-inch form...I don't really see how people can see the screen as a "deal-breaker". I mean, TN panels aren't as pretty, but they're generally just a bit quicker than comparable IPS displays, so I'm sure the situation can't be that bad.
Kojaku -
The M15x screen has a pretty good black level and viewing angles though.
-
Some of those are from the official website. Some are from official re-sellers .
Although he got the price in China wrong. The 128GB version is 14999RMB, the 256GB is 16999. That's about 800USD more expensive than the US version. Unbelievable.

Razer Blade: The World's Thinnest Gaming Laptop - Razer Australia -
Agree, closest bet could be getting one from China, but wouldn't know how that would go about.
-
Well I meant to say that the viewing angles, at least according to the video, don't look atrocious . They're definitely not amazing, but I mean seriously...some people on this thread make it seem like the screen had an affair with their wives or something haha xD
Kojaku -
Most of them are official announced price from Razerzone.com, aside from Malaysia. I just did some simple currency conversion via Google and estimate the price for Malaysia based on the shipping distance. Not really quote worthy, but I'm expecting the price should go that much in Malaysia.
-
So.... for international possible Razer Blade 14" buyers....
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in USA = 1999USD
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in Australia = 2499AUD = 2290USD
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in Singapore = 2999SGD = 2370USD
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in China = 14999Yuan = 2450USD
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in Malaysia = From RM6300 to possibly RM7700??? possibly rounded off to RM7999?
*Clap Clap Clap...*
EDIT:
Razer Blade 14" 256GB in China = 16999Yuan = 2800USD
Razer Blade 14" 128GB in China = 14999Yuan = 2450USD
So technically it's 800$ more expensive in China compared to US.
(Thanks Macpod for pointing this out) -
I hope for a nice price when its out in HK, since china charges tax on electronic goods but HK is duty free
-
Smart guy got the same idea as me
im visiting HK this august for the first time, have any idea where or how too buy it? -
I've been to Hong Kong many times I always payed taxes, but not sure if they have a procedure to get your tax money back like Korea. You only not pay taxes in Duty Free stores. Again I never really investigated HK tax laws. In Korea I can almost to any store and fill out a paper the vendor provide and present this at an airport and they pay you back the taxes in cash.
So the computer stores in HK is kind of weird. Basically it's a few floors with vendors selling stuff. Like a swap meet. Here are the 3 places I've been.
Wan Chai Computer Centre
Mongkok Computer Centre
Fortress (this is more like a retail store) There is a whole bunch of them, but I guess I would go to the one next to Wan Chai Computer Centre.
As for finding a Razer in one of these stores... good luck. Also if you are looking for a bargain, HK stuff is equal to US pricing. Korea on the other hand cost less than HK or US.
Edit: Maybe I didn't pay tax, I never check the receipts. -
People on this forum are just nuts. Pay it no mind, seriously, who watches movies from a 65 degree angle? If I'm using a laptop to watch a movie, that ish is either on a desk, on my lap or on my stomach.
It's just something to complain about. Now, if someone wanted to say the w230st's screen had a tremendous advantage over the blade's because the w230st allows you to game at 1920 or 1600 resolution, that would be a legitimate issue. -
Titanfall needs to come out now.
-
Has anyone successfully upgraded their 14" Blade to Windows 8 Pro? please let me know and let me know if there were any glitches or bump along the way I should know about. Thanks very much in advance for the response.
-
I'm kind of interest in that too, since I'm going to invest on a premium laptop, might as well get the best of everything, like the OS for starter right? xD
-
I was able to do it. It just takes a LONG time to do the upgrade. No other bumps besides that.
-
Hong Kong is indeed tax free, however when comparing prices of things in US it'll be very debatable due to the fact that HK doesn't have a lot of online businesses, meaning that instead of being taxed you pay for the extremely expensive rent of setting up a shop for reselling, and for the OEMs to setup an office in HK, for computer prices anything that offers GT class performance is usually cheaper than those in US, however for computers equipped with GTX class or high end Radeon graphics are 30-50% more expensive than in US, considering that the alienware 17 base config in HK is near $2600, and origin PC being the only clevo reseller in HK sells the P150SM at $2000 base config I'd say Hong Kong offers much less bang for the buck if you are looking for gaming laptops
though some exceptions can be made on "premium" class laptop such as most apple products, the rMBP goes cheaper in HK than in US, and for razer mice, it is selling at near exchange rate pricing(though the blades never arrived HK), I'm not seeing much hope of them releasing the blade in HK in the near future but hopefully real soon and with price comparable to exchange rate

I am considering this instead of a different 14" haswell system. Viewing angle isnt a huge issue, like most people say you adjust it and should be set. My concern though is looking at all of the pictures and videos posted from reviews, the screen isnt as vibrant and colors not as good as an IPS panel.
For anyone who has seen one or if anyone has one yet, is the screen quality good when you do have it at the right angle? Meaning, is the color quality good, like with pictures, movies, etc? -
It's pretty good for a TN panel, although you don't get deep blacks. More like a dark grey. I watched Skyfall, however, and it looked great to me.
-
Ah ok awesome. So dark scenes, while not perfect, are still good and you can see the scenes? I hadnt thought about that specifically but I do remember having laptops where anytime a movie had a scene that was dark, I couldnt really see what was going on well.
If the blade does ok in these type scenes I think I'd be good then and no concerns.
How long have you had yours? -
Since Saturday before last. The limited vertical viewing angle is for me the biggest issue. Once you're in the sweet spot the display seems fine overall. Definitely not as good as the screen on my MSI GT60 though.
-
I really like this laptop and plan to buy it but it seems there aren't a lot of official reviews and I would like to read one before I buy it. Any idea when anyone will drop an official review (not pre release))
-
Still have not found one. Cnet has said that they are working on one, and I know they have had the laptop since May 30th. Not sure why the results are not out yet. Maybe because of the huge number of new devices. I was going to wait as well, but couldn't after seeing some user reviews.

Anybody have any luck with the new nvidia drivers at all? fails for me every time. I even made the foolish mistake of updating to windows 8.1, and then realized the latest 8.1 nvidia driver was also incompatible, so i had to reinstall the whole os again and revert back to windows 8. this reminds me i need to order a windows 8 restore flash drive to free up more space on the ssd.
have had zero time to actually play any games over the last week, much less contribute to the conversation about the Blade 14. appreciate the input other owners are contributing. -
Ok so the new NVidia driver was just released. Anyone get it to install?
Anyone have an R1/R2? Did the stock NVidia drivers work there? -
The Blade 14's card id is still not included in any official drivers even the whql ones released today. Unfortunately we're gonna have to wait and hope nvidia gets it added. I submitted the Blade on their notebook driver request forum thread

Wow a lot of views and comments in under an hour. Razer has created a lot of buzz. He mentioned the 2nd bay - I think Scott has been reading this forum! Hi Scott!
-
Come on guys! Some of you have already cracked into this baby and DIDNT EVEN TAKE A PICTURE OF the second Msata!!!
Can someone please post a pic of where the second connection is on the 14"? This will determine wether or not i buy the 128 or 256. Thanks -
A little light but here is another. At least they show the viewing angles for the screen.
PCWorld Video | Razer Blade - Rapid Review -
Here's a modified setup information file (*.inf) to allow installation of the NVIDIA 320.49 WHQL notebook driver that was released today. Working fine so far with my Blade 14, I assume the 765M in the Pro should have the same set of Hardware Ids.
View attachment nvcvn.inf.zip
To install, unzip and replace file in unpacked driver path. If you already tried and got the "NVIDIA Installer failed" message, the driver files will still be located here:
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\320.49\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver
You will also need to disable driver signing before running Setup (in Windows 8, this is done through "Advanced startup").
Some brief tests with synthetics:
Driver version: 311.54 (Blade 14 shipping driver)
3DMARK 11
4097
3DMark (2013)
Ice Storm: 14835
Cloud Gate: Did not finish
Fire Strike: Did not finish
Driver version: 320.49 (WHQL 2013.07.01)
3DMARK 11
4109
3DMark (2013)
Ice Storm: 14823
Cloud Gate: 10809
Fire Strike: 2489
details: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/865871
So with regard to 3DMark, stability seems improved. I noticed the 3DMark (2013) framerates are capped at 60 fps, regardless of VSYNC settings, so these Ice Storm and Cloud Gate scores don't really reflect the performance of the 765M.

It's controversial to say, but it often seems the 'rest of the world' is subsidizing the prices on electronics in the U.S. Stuff made in China/Taiwan is cheaper in the U.S, after shipping all over the world, compared to the prices in China/Taiwan itself. Some of it isn't even available for sale in China/Taiwan, although manufactured here. I wonder what americans would say about the reverse; american companies making stuff in the U.S, then shipping it to other countries, and sell it cheaper there than the U.S itself. Rather absurd, right?
-
I guess the manufacturer contractor takes risk carrying each machine out to the public from getting sued, thus all units have to be sent out and under heavy survailance, when some slipped past security check and been made to the public however, due to the risk cost and rarity of the machine it will be priced with an added premium, and really when the company decides to sell it internationall two routes are potentially undertaken, first one is the publically preffered one which is assemble and dispatch directly from china, however if they take the second route, which is to send in to storage facility in the US and from there on carry out US standard QA test, it will take 1 trip to US, tested, and then redistributing to the rest of the world, which adds a hefty cost including import/export charges that gets levied on customers outside US, and really I can only see the second route taken for the product to be called made in US, another possibility will be that the unit will be manufactured in parts and sent directly to an assembling team in US to put on warranty stickers before complete assemble, to get the machine qualified as made in US, there is no cheap labour in US
-
Might be due to the lighting but that screen looked much worse than the user videos I've seen. After all these reviews I would be really disappointing if razer doesn't Include a better screen in the next release. Most reviewers have said it's almost the perfect laptop apart from the screen. Well done Razer.
-
Does anyone know whether they will be shipping directly from US to other countries? My concern is that while they specify a particular price for Australia, if it is sent directly from the US (or anywhere else overseas) it will attract an additional 10% and a customs processing fee on top of that when it arrives. For me that would be the dealbreaker - I can cope with the fact they charge us more for the product (we get ripped off on everything here), but if duty knocks it up to around $2800, it just becomes silly.........
-
Thanks for the info in how to install unsigned drivers. Worked great. Only issue I had is that my WEI doesn't run through the whole test, but who cares. -
Does he wifi card on the Razer Blade 14 supports 5 mhz frequency?

From the Razer website: Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 (802.11a/b/g/n + Bluetooth® 4.0) Killer Wireless-N 1102 adapters support dual band (2.4 GHz and 5GHz), 2-stream MIMO and IEEE standards-based 802.11a/b/g/n in a half-size mini-PCIe form factor.
-
Wrecks, Did you notice any type of seal or tape break when you pulled that back cover off? If not that second msata looks like it can be accessed without Razer ever being able to tell you used it. Also do the two ribbons extending from the battery look like they will be easy to unplug?
-
The past week, I've been using my brothers M14x since I'm waiting for the Pro, and I've noticed that a 14' actually wasn't so bad for gaming. Dang, should have opted for the Blade instead =P
-
I've looked for anything comparable in the Blade's form factor with a better screen etc. It appears no such beast exists. While I am a fan of the ultrabooks they just will not run games like the Blade will. I'm pretty sold and I am just waiting for Amazon to get supplied.
-
Just ordered a blade last night. Website says 5-7 days for it to ship. Anyone know if it will ship sooner than that or not?
-
i can add that the screen is not that bad as it has been said. It is just not the best one, but that does not make it bad either.
