Also, Is transferring to windows 7 an easy task? Where would I get all the drivers from? I dont think theyd offer a driver disk since theres no drive.

Not a bad review. I haven't seen anything really negative about the laptop except price and some issues on screen but i can live with that -

Yes i agree with mario64, warm sure, hot not at all. What I would like cleared up if anyone would be willing to chime in is how the heck verge got 6 hours and 49 minutes out of the battery. I really just want to know what I am apparently doing wrong because in my use of the laptop that number would be almost impossible to reach, even with just surfing at the low brightness they used.

Razer Blade review (14-inch) | The Verge
OOPS.. rishabhjain1198 beat me to this a few posts back.. Didn't see it when I breezed through to check. -
For those asking about shipping times, I ordered mine on the 26th of June and still no shipment email. They claimed 5-7 days till shipment, and we are at day 6. I was hoping to have this for the 4th of July weekend.

Seven hours of battery life on cnet o.o

Apparently some embargo just got lifted. Engadget review. All I guess I can say is that I am glad I needed to send mine back for the bezel issue, as apparently razer only installed half of the battery in the first unit I used
14-inch Razer Blade gaming laptop review: smaller, faster, lighter -
I so wanted to give you my money, Razer. But that screen... keep the thunderbolt and ethernet and everything else, but what is up with that screen? and it looks like the new 13" Clevo is getting a nice IPS display, the same one used in the Zenbooks. so close, so damn close. hopefully the 2nd gen brings it up to par.
as I stated in a previous post, I don't mind the price. I'll happily pay extra to support a company who takes risks to innovate and push technology. At least give us the option to upgrade the panel though. The conclusion in Anand's site is pretty spot on. -
Even though it's very much more critical of the panel, and rightly so with some hard numbers and analysis to back it up, I think the AnandTech review is the best. Which is not a big surprise.
And after all that, I still want to trade my Gamer 7 in for it. -

"That doesn't mean the unit doesn't get hot. It gets damn hot so hot that a more traditional PC manufacturer might not have approved the design." -
I think I'm going to get the AW 14 because it's much cheaper, has an optical disk drive, and an IPS 1080p screen. One of the people at the AW forums posted their CPU and GPU temps while playing Crysis 2 on Ultra and the temps for the CPU was like 84*C and the GPU was like 64*C. But I'll wait and see until more people get their units because it may be a fluke. I'm so used to AW having really bad cooling.
-
I'd like to see what the Clevo W230ST may look like when released. As long as someone makes it available in black. Ugh on looks.
Really wish they had splurged on the screen. Why didnt they go IPS? I am as perplexed as Anand...... would have been unbeatable then. -
Both AW 14 and Razer are premium gaming notebooks in the 13-14" range. Can't really go wrong on whichever you choose as long as you understand the pros and cons of both machines. Obviously the biggest selling point of the Razer is the thin and light feature while the AW 14 has the onsite warranty, customizable lighting and the 1080p IPS 72% color gamut display.
If thin and light is what you need but don't care for optical drive, don't care for Ethernet port and card reader and the mediocre display then go for Razer. If you want the better warranty with the better screen with the ethernet port, card reader, optical drive w/ the added weight and thickness then go for Alienware. -
Has anyone still have their order status on "Order Submitted" ?
Release date is approaching and I'm concerned with my order. Just want to know if anyone else is in the same boat. -
Were there two refreshes to the Pro in the same year? Man would I hate to see an IPS display come to the Blade within six months of my purchase. If I didn't need a laptop right now it would actually be the best time to wait....

The m14 has had really really bad cooling, have had them since they were released. So bad that idle temperatures are even high, so much more during heavy activity. My recent m17 had great cooling though.
Loving the reviews, it seems that they've had them ready for awhile actually.
I have a feeling that these models have been modified somewhat to get those battery times. I know that an IT friend of mine who recently reformatted my computer asked me if I needed some windows stuff or not, to save disk space and battery. Might be the case? -
-
I'm also curious how CNET got over 7 hours of battery life..seems wrong
-
Hi guys,
After reading the reviews it seems the display really is as poor as the rumors - a massive disappointment.
Razer's Facebook page is very active and I suggest that if you are also in the same position of not wanting to buy the laptop because of the screen you post it there so they get your feedback.
Cheers -
Pretty solid reviews. This laptop is like my dream configuration.

1) Ran the 320.49 WHQL once to get it to extract
2) Inserted your modified nvcvn.inf file into the Display.Driver subfolder of the NVIDIA directory
3) Rebooted system holding down shift while clicking power button to restart. Using advanced options selected disable driver signing (option 7)
4) tried to install from this point still getting error about compatable hardware.
Doing a quick search using the hardware id from my 765M it appears as if the pro and 14" have different hardware ID's if im understanding the INF file right.
My 765M ID shows :
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E2&SUBSYS_67481A58&REV_A1

Hi there,
I have just one, but (to me) very important question: Is the screen of the Blade really that bad or is it just not that good when it comes to comparison with screens like the retina...? My sister owns a Macbook pro 2012 with 1280:800 resolution, so my question is if the screen of the Blade is much worse?!
If that's not the case, i'm considering buying this little great machine. Sorry for some grammatical errors! Ah and one second question. I am from Switzerland, would you recommend to ship it in or should i wait until they really get into the european market? University starts in September...
Thanks for your help guys! -
Ugh. I would love to be able to buy this laptop right now, but I yet to hear any word from Razer Australia on a release date here. I don't have confidence it will be soon either, the Razer Edge still hasn't seen the light of day here. Anybody know any importers that could help me out here?

It takes one to know one! This is you " my electronic rules and yours suck" See what I did there?!?
Instead of giving out constructive criticism, you attack alienware like Razer shiit don't stink. Owning Alienware is like owning an Aston Martin or Lambo while owning a Razer is somehow connected to being a hippy EMO and all the little teenagers will have one at the starbucks wanting to look like a special snowflake.
You can have your thin and light copy cat look alike of the mbp with a weird green logo on the lid with a sucky mediocre tn panel with low srgb coverage and overall mediocre panel without a card reader, ethernet port and optical drive. -

From the AnandTech's review:
"The Blade is for anyone who wanted the MacBook Pro in black (which does go with everything), and it's for anyone who has gotten more than a little tired of ostentatious, gaudy gaming notebook designs. It's a shot fired across the bow of vendors like Alienware, stating in no uncertain terms that you can have a powerful, performance gaming notebook in a sleeker form factor. The Blade's ID feels like gaming for grown-ups." -
The only thing that really bothers me about this notebook is how sensitive the pinch to zoom is on the trackpad. Otherwise this baby is a keeper. Been logging hours on this video editing, gaming, and surfing the net. I am able to bring this everywhere I go, just like my macbook air once did. The Razer Blade, although very light for a gaming notebook, it's still considerably heavier than my Macbook Air 11in. So if I don't intend to game or video edit, I rather take my macbook air with me for light productivity work. This really is the Aston Martin of gaming notebooks right now. You could always pay less and get more power with the GTR

So is the verdict that it can get 6 hours plus on battery life??? That above review says it managed 8 hours with light WiFi??

You never know which battery test to trust with Nvidia Optimus in the picture. It is possible the reviewer was lucky enough to have not triggered the dGPU at all during the test. With just the integrated gpu and everything set on low performance it might be possible.
I'm still waiting for the notebookcheck review.
