Ahh, now some space for some Steam goodness.

I still think that wifi exploitation is possible, specially given that these wifi cards dont have any conscious regarding the privacy or other stuff

but yes you are right, encrypting the backend is the best solution, however that leads another problem the cost to maintain that solution

Just popped in for a quick comment on the screen (a positive one). I'm outside as I'm typing this with the sun partially in my eyes, and I can see the screen as if I was inside working on it.
So on a positive note, the matte combined with the brightness means I can program outside (GASP...despite the stereotypes some from computer science actually enjoy the outdoors and the sun ;))

With people opening up their RB 14", has anyone tried to apply their own thermal paste like Artic Silver or IC Diamond?

Interesting thought, I think that would definitely void warranty though (they would be able to tell that the heat sink had been opened?). I'm very happy with idle temps and noise. Literally silent and GPU stays in low 30s, and CPU in 40s

they wouldnt be able to tell that you fiddled with the heatpipes unless you screw up or leave finger prints (it really happens the latter), aside that the past colour is an usual giveaway as well

but I would be very interested to see how pasting affect temps, they usually do a very poor job, actually they always do a very poor job

Maybe not. Remember, this is a gaming laptop made by gamers for gamers. Gamers understand the importance of good thermal pasting.

    Quick question to Blade owners:

It was just pointed out to me that my mic has this 'watery static sound' when I was Skyping with my sister. Curious, I listened to my mic and indeed, there is a watery static sound. It still exists even when I make a sound recording, so that rules out Skype as the cause.

Is this a hardware issue again? Or software?

I'm trying to look for a video on youtube that might have the same sound, since I don't know how to upload this sound file. Lol.

So i guess i will add my story to all of this. I have read probably 100 pages or so of this thread and sympathize with those who are having to wait a long time. I ordered my RB 14" 128GB on the 12th of July and it hasn't come in yet.

I did receive an email notifying me that the shipment was supposed to ship on the 9th of august but has been pushed back to the 14th. I gave Razer a call asking on Monday if there would be any way to speed up my order since i am leaving for school soon. The rep understood my issue and said that he escalated my order/ticket and would be receiving an email soon with updated info. I haven't receive an email yet but i hope to soon and my order is still being processed on Razer's site... (checking every day....lol)

Glad to see that people were receiving there laptops so quickly, i just wished i had bought mine a few days sooner for a quicker batch. It does seem like shipments come in every two weeks. The last batch that i saw on this thread was around the 26th which is two weeks before the 9th.

Hopefully i will get it soon with not as many issues due to it being a later batch. I am interested in more case ideas or suggestions, anyone else have any good recommendations?

Edit: I also plan to add a Plextor 256GB SSD once I am convinced there aren't serious bugs with the system. I was so glad to see it had an extra slot!

Just got my Blade Pro in yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot. A few questions though if anyone can help me.
Is there any way to tell which graphics card is running?
Is there a way to disable the swiping from the left to change apps?
What would be a good gaming bluetooth mouse for the laptop? Right now I'm looking into the Orochi.

    1. I'm guessing there's a program for that, but so far I haven't had the need to manually check or swap to my cards.
    2. Yes, it should be in the Windows 8 PC settings, I just removed mine too.
    3. Pretty much only the Orochi, afaik. I'm waiting for mine to be delivered too :)

It indeed gets warm, but I've really had no problems with it getting uncomfortable for me. It definitely helps that my room has a fairly low ambient temperature and I'm using a CM U3 cooling pad.

Personally, when I newly got my Pro, I also got a bit paranoid when it grew warm. But at the end of the day, it's still meant to be warm =P I just really like how it's nowhere near where my hands need to be.

True. Just concerns me because even when browsing it gets quite warm while my old cheap asus laptop usually stays relatively cool. Any suggestions for a cooling pad?

Hmm, it's not being left on Gaming Mode or High Performance is it? Vents not being blocked?

I've only ever used the U3, and so far it's working really well. I'd easily suggest it :)

    1. Go to Nvidia control panel and there's a setting that adds the graphics card notification icon. It will say "none" if it's using the Intel IGP instead of the GTX 765M.
    2. Yes, you can find that in the PC settings when you use the right side charms bar -> PC settings.
    3. The Orochi is a very good option, but make sure you get the 2013 version!

@EllyIdol It's on a solid surface at all times with vents unblocked. I'll check if its still on gaming mode/high performance when I get home.

Cooling just isn't an issue, unless the vents are blocked. The razer pro can game for hours with no overheat or throttling, no cooling pad needed. I got the Orochi 2013..my MS presenter 8000 mouse has a better feel, but the USB option on the Orochi is really nice, and using the same razer synapse software is also a bonus.

For the metro UI crap, stardock Start 8 is your friend.

That was actually the first thing I installed. :p Now my Blade Pro doesn't seem to charge past 10% unless I close the lid. Anyone know anything on this? Also while playing Mirrors Edge I seem to only get around 20 frames no matter what the settings are. :x

When I game, I must change the option in the nvidia control panel to force the use of the 765m. I just force the notebook to use the integrated for regular work, then manually switch to dedicated for gaming. This also helps keep the notebook cool when not gaming.

Synapse was using the dedicated GPU. Tried forcing it to use the integrated, but it does not work 100% for me. Something usually trips the switch to the dedicated when I don't need it. Not a big deal for me to switch when I want to play games.

Hm. The middle of my blade gets fairly toasty even when performing simple tasks (internet browsing/Word processing). By middle I mean around the r, t, y, u keys. The left and right are pretty cool because of the fans but I just wanted to make sure this heat isn't due to something malfunctioning. Is this normal?

Heat in that area is normal. Doing stuff like web browsing and word processing though, under the best conditions it shouldn't get too hot or hot at all. If you have a higher ambient temp, or if something blocks the intake fans enough to slow down air flow then it'll get hot even doing simple tasks.

Assuming of course you don't have games open and they are just minimalized while you browse and word process, because if you have something running even at the login screen or a menu, it will still cause the blade to heat up.

Just below the screen my blade is slightly warmer than ambient when not gaming. It was hot when first setting up windows, but after letting everything settle and disabling the dedicated gpu when not needed, the notebook stays very cool.

That's odd. Why would synapse be using Nvidia, unless it's the game booster program you're talking about that's separate?

Another question. I've only felt air coming out of the left vent once while I was gaming. The right fan doesn't seem to be pushing anything out. There any way to test the fans?

If you're CPU isn't pushing 70C idle then it's probably working. You can just flip it upside down and check, the two holes are right there

Been using my Razer 14 for 3 weeks now. Limited to business uses as of now but Metro Last Light is being downloaded now so I'll finally be able to enjoy the GTX graphics card.

Aside from the occasional mouse freezes as a few others have reported here, the Razr has been a pleasure to use both on the road and at home attached to my external monitor and keyboard. I have one finger pointer disabled. But the mouse freeze still happens from time to time. Anyone have a good solution to this?

Also, will Razr Synapse notify you of driver updates for the Razr 14?

I've also experienced fairly frequent skype freeze ups. Although most of the time it'll automatically recover and based on online forums this seems to be a skype/win 8 issue.

Glad to see that people are receiving their Razr in a more timely manner though. Despite Windows 8 getting in the way of a smoother computing experience, I must say 3 weeks into my ownership and I feel the Razr is a quality laptop with an justifiable price tag. Except for the minor quibbles above, the Razr have been thus far uneventful in a good way. Although I do already have a wishlist for the next version.

    1. IPS touch optional monitor
    2. DisplayPort instead of/in addition to HDMI port
    3. Option (like HP) to have function keys to access the Fn commands by default.

Agree, this one I'd love to know as well. The swipe from left had the option to disable, so I thought the from right would have as well, but was mistaken.

Has anyone tried Warframe on their Blade/RBP yet? Curious as to how well it's supposed to run in comparison to mine.

Hi all, what cooling pad would you recommend for 14" taking in consideration that it vents air out through top and is made of unibody aluminum? It can be as big and bulky as it gets as i am going to use that pad for hooking up an hdmi monitor and making my razer like pc. Performance is what matters the most in this case. Thanks

No complaints from me on the CoolerMaster U3, and I'm using it with the Pro. Those three customizable fans should be able to hit your RB 14 vents/areas pretty well!

It's also one of the few I've found that actually matches the style of the Blade.

I got question for those who live in the UK

If a laptop was sent for repairment in the USA from UK and resent back to me after it being repaired through a friend of mine. Will I need to pay tax? I'm quite worried if everytime I sent the Blade for repairment I need to pay tax when it gets back.

    Thanks

Do you notice temp drops with cooling pad or is it like ~5 degrees cooler and thats it? cause even when spectating dota through game my blade gets pretty blazing. Maybe with pro there are less problems with cooling and it is not necessary, however with 14" i cant imagine gaming without cooling pad

Not UK here, but I paid both incoming USA tax and incoming Philippine's tax =/

I scaled down the cost of the unit though, granting that it's now 'used', and I follow the 50% depreciation once the box is open and films peeled off :)
