Christine is only a concept thoughmerely an idea...
On the plus side the Razer Edge was also a concept released at CES 2011 and Razer got enough positive feed back to put it into production, hopefully its the same with Project Christine!

- RAM is upgrade-able but it is extremely difficult to do! There are two or three people on this forum who have posted step by step pictures of upgrading the RAM. Standard Laptop RAM at 1600MHz should work, Corsair and Crustal are good manufacturers to look at. I'm not sure if the motherboard supports higher speed of RAM.
- The 265GB SSD in my RBP is a Samsung 840 (NOT EVO), I would only expect the 512GB version to be Samsung as well.
- It's Intel Turbo Boost, the computer will do it itself so long as core temps are within the proper temps.
- The RBP had Optimus technology, the computer will automatically choose the best graphic card for the situation. You are also able to set what program uses what GPU, I set Minecraft to use my GPU so I could put a 128x128 or 256x256 texture pack and still get 60 FPS. You would simply right click your desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel, and it should be under the Manage 3D Settings tab. -
The AC adapter accepts 120V to 240V at 2A 50/60Hz. So you can plug it into and residential plug around the world so long as you have a proper adapter.

anyone who is looking at the Razer Blade should check out the Venom BlackBook 14 zero. I have one, it has a Full HD screen and the Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics card. Very impressed so far. Blade looked good, but was not enough hardware for the cash.
-
The NVIDIA 765M is much much much more powerful than the Iris Pro 5200. Plus the Razer looks much better imho thats not an attractive rebranding (who makes that was it Gigabyte or MSI?) and Im betting its build quality isn't nearly as good. Of course looks are subjective =)
-
Thats the Sager NP2740 (Clevo W740SU) rebranded (Or it looks just like one). As SpartanJet said, the graphics are much weaker as its only optimally (benchmarks that favor it) comparable to a GT 750m. In a real game, it may only be equal to a GT 650m.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its the clevo w740su
crap battery life despite not packing a dgpu, and its very expensive packing a crap screen
the 750m and 650m are the same thing...
the performance of the 5200 ranges from the 640m to the 630m (aka rebrand of the good 555m the one with 144 cores and X number of ROPs) -
Oh sorry, didn't know that. I thought they usually bump the second digit down one when using the same one for the next gen. (i.e. 650 -> 740 or something)
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
to which wouldn't matter since the 660m is the same thing as the 640m and 650m and all the numbers in between, this year the 670mx was gutted and became the 760m and the 765m -
750m is clocked ~ 200MHz faster than the 650m and has faster vRAM. It's a good 15-20% faster.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its a 660m basically -
Question: Any idea which 128gb or 256gb msata would be best for storage? Need to stick in another one into my Blade 14" soon for storing games which I have about 80GB worth so far. Taking too big of a chunk of the main 256gb drive. As far as I can tell, the Crucial m500 seems the cheapest without serious issues. Mushkin seems to be close, but reviews seem to say there are QA issues. Plextor seems the next cheapest, but its still a $40 difference. It seems to be the lite-on one though, so would having similar drives to whats inside the Blade matter?
Edit: Looks like Samsung is releasing a msata version of their 840 EVO. Probably get that one as its cheap and fast. -
Not even close in GPU power. Not in the same class at all.

I how can I disable intel video card on razer pro? For some reason if I disable it in windows it also disale Nvidia card...
-

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
the pro has the same screen. and this isn't the right place to ask that
-
The pro has a 1080p 17. It's definitely not the same.. Quality wise, not sure how it compares.
-
Any word on a refresh this upcoming year?
Anything to wait for?
The screen quality is all that is holding me back from buying this. I find the screen to be one of the most important aspects of any computer - after all, it is the portal through which you will be accessing the electronic world.
Hopefully we get a better screen in the refresh. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
he said the blade r2, which means the 17" from 2012
and they use the same screen. its a quality screen should be the same as yours if Im not mistaken
the refresh will happen in around 5 months+, because thats when intel will release the new cpu line
the 860m can be a new gpu or just a kepler rebrand, so maybe a new screen and with new cpu and probable new gpu -
He actually said
EDIT: you're right, apologies.. Somehow I put that out of my head.

Where could I actually see the Blade 14 in person in NYC to see what my opinion of the display is?
I was considering the rMBP 15 or Dell XPS 15, but there are quite a few apps I use regularly that won't play nice with the display scaling for HiDPI, I'd rather just not deal with that problem and have a normal native res display. And I've read too many horror stores of how nuclear the rMBP goes under any kind of load. Besides, the Razer has a better GPU by far than either of them. I use a late 2011 MBP 13 for most of my work now (including learning game development..surprising how far the Intel 3000 can stretch to get work done..), I figure a small bump in resolution would be better off, and I'm just sick of the 9lb monster Samsung, even though the GPU is fast and the display is to die for, it's just too damn heavy to sit on my legs for any amount of time. I end up with the MBP on my lap most of the time unless I want to actually play something that requires muscle. I'd just rather have one laptop that can handle both tasks, I'm comfortable with either OS X or Win 8..
If I could just look at the display myself I could see whether I would actually care about it's quality or not.. -
Assuming that you've been using MBP and your Samsung NP700G7C for awhile, you might not get used to looking at the lower quality display of the Blade 14. I can also be sure that you'll be able to notice the drop in quality of the Blade 14 display as compared to what you're used to look at. Having said that, while we know that there are many people who thinks the display on the Blade 14 is just really unacceptable and downright obnoxious, i on the other hand thinks its perfectly acceptable. Key word is acceptable, i did not say i feel it is good. If what's really bothering you with the units you have now is weight + weak gpu + build quality, i'm quite sure you'll be able to accept the short comings on the Blade 14 as it very well take care of those issues.

Only one is kind of far.. Bah. Thanks for the link..
Edit: I got a little excited when I checked best buy's site but it looks like they are not stocking it in the stores it's all 3-5 day ship to store.. Unless by some off chance there's a display model. -
Has anyone been able to hook their blade up to a 3dtv and got 3d movies playing? I've been trying to get this to work for a while and it was all a big fail. The farthest I got was for powerdvd to play but only in 720 60p and not 1080 24p so it doesn't make full use of my tv... The image playback only plays on the top left 720p box and the rest of the 1080p is a black bar.
-
When you've hooked up your notebook to your TV using an HDMI 1.4 cable, navigate to the "Projector only" display mode using the Fn + F7 keys. After that you'll want to enter the NVIDIA Control Panel and tick the box next to "Enable stereoscopic 3D" followed by setting your resolution to 1080p 24Hz under HD 3D. In PowerDVD, either leave the "Auto detect" option alone or manually select "HDMI 1.4 enabled 3D TV (1080p 24Hz)". If that's exactly what you did, try using TotalMedia Theatre, a display driver directly from NVIDIA, or a different HDMI 1.4 cable. In Razer's FAQ you'll find the following:
Now, it's true that a laptop outputting video using a non-NVIDIA GPU (digital ports on most Optimus laptops) won't be able to make use of 3D Vision/3DTV Play, but that doesn't mean it can't output stereoscopic imagery using software that's not proprietary to NVIDIA as long as the port is capable, and I fail to see why the Razer Blade should be any different when its HDMI 1.4a port is powered by an Intel iGPU. Stereoscopic video should work out of the box while most games require third-party software such as TriDef and iZ3D. -
Under my nvidia control panel, it doesn't have the stereoscopic 3d tab or option. I don't know why as my two other desktops have these options and much more. Razer blade's nvidia control center panel only has 3 tabs. I can't even set resolution using nvidia control panel.
-
Did you attempt to uninstall the display driver that came pre-installed on your Blade and install the latest one from NVIDIA's homepage?
-
You guys think a new version is coming soon?
-
I'd say around 4 months or longer? Depending on when Nvidia/Intel release next gen hardware.
-
I am wondering the same thing myself. I am incline to think that a new version must be coming out in July or August..
-
Is it true that the Blade's 765M GPU is underclocked compared to Alienware 14's same GPU?
-
As far as i'm concerned, they are the same clock speeds. Double checked it with my friend's Alienware 14.
-
Great thanks. i was reading in the alienware 14 forums that razer blade's GPU was under clocked or under volted wanted to make sure as i'm deciding to buy between the 2. So the Gaming performance will be exactly the same as Alienware 14?
-
The GPU are for sure clocked the same in both machine (@ default clocks) and the GPU in the Blade is definitely not underclocked or under-volted in anyway. Assuming you are deciding between the Alienware 14 and the Blade 14, i have the following information for you. Now it depends on which screen you choose to have on your Alienware 14. They have a HD display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels or a sharper Full HD display with 1920x1080 pixels. If you pick the 1366x768 screen, then the Alienware 14 will perform slightly better since the native resolution is lower thus the GPU doesn't have to work as hard which also means the quality of the display would be "lower" than the Blade 14. If you picked the latter choice of screen, then the Alienware 14 will perform slightly worst compared to the Blade 14 if it is running at their respective native resolution but overall it will look better since its native res is higher than the Blade 14 which also means the GPU got to work harder for that higher res. The Blade 14's native res is 1600x900.
Summary:
If you take the 1366x768 screen for the Alienware 14, it will perform better than the Blade 14 when gaming while sacrificing on the overall quality of what's displayed.
If you take the 1920x1080 screen for the Alienware 14, it will perform slightly worst than the Blade 14 when gaming while gaining a better quality of whats displayed.
Also try to give some thought about what else you want out of your machine too. Such as weight factor, battery life, upgrade-ability, build quality, "swag-ness" etc. Then you can be sure that whichever one you buy, would ultimately suits your needs and you be happy overall with what you decide to purchase in the end.
Good luck!

Thanks for the detail comparison Jamesng1986. I was looking at the 1080p screen only.
Razer suits my needs, just the screen issues people been saying is holding me back. Looks like i will now toss a coin and decide
haha!

razer is announcing a new product tomorrow, min-liang tan is hinting with a photo of a (laptop keyboard) saying "its what's on the inside that counts." presuming its a blade refresh, with a new 860m or 870/75? this may prompt me to return my aorus x7 which arrives tomorrow.
-
Figures, I just bought one lol.
-
doesn't really look like a laptop keyboard. it looks like a normal keyboard. prob some new cherry keyboard.
-
If the announcement is a Blade refresh then maybe the chiclet keyboard is gone because the picture shows curved keys that are much larger.
-
i think its a standard pc keyboard too unfortunately. will probably keep my aorus now.
-
Looks like the new Razor may get the gtx 870m! Hopefully true!

Eh? Where do you read that in that article? I only see MSI stuff.
-
It's in one of the pictures.

Nice spot on the pic!
I wonder if this means they are upping the screen resolution.

the new razer has been announced... 870m and a super high res display
-
maybe if i beg they will send me one
-
Can't wait to purchase this...but first...must pay off tomorrowworld tickets and find more funding
-
The new razer looks positively epic, mainly DAT 3200x1800 IPS screen! but ive got to ask, how on earth are they going to cool the 870m, if it is indeed a 1344 core Kepler gpu? the 765m was already running hot in the blade, i cant imagine what the much more power hungry 870m would do to the temps. supossedly, only the 850m and 860m are maxwell based.
-
that little bit of extra thickness as well as more copper pipe for cooling? Maybe a personal gremlin kept inside each Blade to keep it running. But to be clear, we've gone from a GT 555M, to a 660M, to a 765M,, now an 870M, what should come logitcally next is a 975M? What's going to give first? Laws of thermodynamics or Razer's ambition? Mind-blowing.
