Anyone upgrade to Windows 8.1 today from the Microsoft Store? Any hiccups, problems that owners should be aware of?

I recently got my RBP17" and was trying to connect it to my work monitor Dell 22 Wide Panel Display.

I bought a HDMI to VGA Cable from Amazon to connect it. I was successful in doing so but the display is so blurry and makes me dizzy. I thought it was driver problems but I was using my MBP before with Parallels or Bootcamp and did not encounter this issue the display was smooth.

I also tried using the GTX 765 but it is not working the way I expect it to work as seen in the screenshots below.

    GTX 765.JPG LEN D221.PNG

What could be the issue here?

Hope to hear from you guys.

    Thanks !

    note:

I ordered a HDMI - HDMI cable and HDMI - DVI just to test things out. Hopefully 1 of those cable could resolve this issue but I am still curious why I am having with HDMI - VGA cables.

Tried today, at least for the razer blade pro it did not work. The update process sent me back to windows 8.

Upgraded my Blade 14 without issue. Only thing I've noticed is it reset the default black/green Razer color scheme and also my account picture. Had to manually point it back to the Razer logo

What do you think could be the problem? Mine just straight up failed twice in a row. Took over an hour to download then failed once it tried reboot the second time.

I followed the update procedures on Razr's site and successfully upgraded my Blade 14" to Windows 8.1 a couple of days ago. Can't say I'm happy about the upgrade though. Performance when opening programs seem to lag a bit post upgrade. And Bluetooth isn't working correctly with my Plantronic Voyager Pro headset. It detects and pairs, but would disconnect 2 seconds after a connection is established. Frustrated!

Hi fellow Blade owners, I have a question (primarily for Razer Blade Pros).

Today, I decided to buy an external monitor and an external keyboard for home use (BenQ and a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition).

This is the first time I'm trying an external keyboard on the Pro. The monitor works fine.

The issue I have seems to be with the keyboard - it "detects" it, so I see it in the list of devices, but it just doesn't work. I've tried plugging it into my brother's m14x and it immediately worked like a plug-and-play keyboard. It doesn't come up in my Synapse either.

Now I'm doing a fresh reinstall of Synapse to try and get it to work.

Has anyone had any problems with external keyboards? Initially I thought I bought a defective keyboard, but it working on my brother's laptop rules that out.

Does the Razer Blade Pro not support an external keyboard or something?

    Any help would be great.

**Edit**: So the Synapse reinstall didn't work. What did work is plugging in a USB Hub to the Pro and plugging the keyboard in from there. The problem is, I constantly get this problem that the keyboard thinks I'm holding down a key. For example, while typing this, I'd get words like "keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyboard" and when I delete, it sometimes continues do delete even after I let go of backspace.

mmm. It seems the usb hub does not allow the laptop to see the keyboard properly, therefore has problems with the polling rate of razer devices, which is very high performance (might be 1000Hz). The result is problems like the ones you have, and possible missing keystrokes. That happened to me when first installing linux.

You must make the keyboard work directly plugged into the razer, but i am not sure why it is not detecting it, very weird. Have you tried the "detect new ddevices" from windows?

That's the weird part, I plugged in another Razer keyboard (arguably more performance heavy - Razer lycosa) and it works perfectly. It seems to be this particular keyboard...

I honestly can't find a reason anymore after trying so much methods yesterday. Will just look into a refund.

Was the green webcam issue ever resolved on windows 8? Mine flashes green unless under sunlight or some florescent lights. Razer support went as far as to have me send it in for repairs, only to send it straight back saying it was working correctly.... Any help on the issue would be appreciated.

    Hi guys...

    I just got my new Razer Blade 14 yesterday... :D :D :D
But I'm facing some issues, so I would like to share and ask you guys about it.

    1) How do you know that the laptop is charging when it's turned off?
I haven't seen any lights turning on when I plug the power connector. This is very odd... The laptops usually have one LED indicating that the battery in being charged, and usually the color of this LED changes to indicate that the battery is fully charged.

    2) Are you guys suffering from touch-pad glitches? It is so annoying because it happens A LOT.
When I use the tap-to-click feature, some times the cursor jumps to another position. Is this some kind of driver bug or is this a problem of the touch-pad itself? This is really annoying because I use the touch-pad almost all the time.

Make sure you are not touching the touchpad with your palm. I have found myself doing this - that touchpad is quite large! Other than that, turn off edge scrolling. I have not had any problems with my touchpad since. I even prefer it to a mouse because of the gesture support when not gaming.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not touch it with my palm...

The cursor literally jumps around when I try to Tap-to-Click feature. When I try to Tap-to-Click, sometimes it just jump to another position and it doesn't click, forcing me to perform the action again. I've tried every configuration with synaptic (Including sensitivity and edge scrolling) and I got just a little improvement, but the problem still persists. I contacted Razer Support and they told me to re-install the drivers and apply a registry modification ( https://copy.com/8ZwAAWjqHpxq), but still it didn't completely fixed it. Right now they want me to return the Razer Blade 14 for repair or replacement. The problem is that I tried another Razer Blade 14 from a Best Buy shelf and it showed the exact same glitchy behavior. So I'm afraid to return it and it comes back with the same issue.
I also tried using Ubuntu and the problem also occur.

The problem only happens when I try to tap-to-click, the physical buttons work fine. I made this video to show you what happens ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMmbSljWrJ4).

I use most of the time the touchpad in my laptops, but this problem is making it very hard for me to use it. I use tap-to-click a lot because it is much faster than press the physical button, but many times I have to do the action (tap-click or tap-double-click or tap-and-drag) twice or more which is very annoying.

It very import for me to know if this is a common behavior of Razer Blade 14 or if it is happening only with mine, so I can ship it back for replacement.
Does it also happen with yours, guys???

    Very annoying issue...

Anyone know how to upgrade the SSD in the latest razer blade 14 ?

I wanted to upgrade the 256GB to a 480-512GB because 256GB is actually only 200GB and once you install most programs used for gaming/anti virus and some stuffs it left only 62GB

I am currently looking for a new laptop to replace my Sony Vaio Z (svz131190X) and am considering the razer blade 14. But I was wondering if razer could possibly be releasing a new version in the near future. Since Razer went through 3 generations in 16 months before the release of the razer blade 14 and pro it is getting close to around when they might release another one in the foreseable future.

Have you guys heard anything on this or, more likely, what are your thoughts on when there might be an updated version. Since haswell is still very new I don't know how likely it is they will update it.

Also what are your thoughts on this laptop (specifically the screen) versus the Sony Vaio z (13.1 1080p) or the Asus UX301 (13.3 1440p). Any other laptops you might recommend for light gaming but mostly portability and CPU/RAM specs.

The next generation of mobile Nvidia cards aren't suppose to come out till possibly past May 2014 I think. I don't think there will be an update for at least a half year. This laptop is much better for gaming vs the ones you listed though, as it has a dedicated graphics card and a quad core. However, its battery life will probably be worse than the two. Screen is better in the other two, but 900p will allow the graphics card to run games at higher settings better.

Not sure how legit it is to advertise here, but I've decided to sell off my Razer Blade 14. If someone is interested for 1750 shipped with 2 power adapters feel free send me a note :) No dead pixels, no scratches, all original packaging.

I'll probably throw it on ebay but I think it would be cooler to send get it to a real enthusiast.

I ended up getting the top spec rMBP 15. It really meets my needs of basic gaming with the GT 750m and gives me the best of both worlds.

Honestly, the Razer Blade is amazing I just don't have a need for both. If it doesn't go for a reasonable amount I'm sure I'll find a use for it, it truly is the best PC laptop still.

Yeah I was considering the rMBP as well. It is really the only other system in the same class. I opted to stay away though. The Macs are notorious for throttling when gaming. Wish the Razer had the rMBP screen tho.

It will be interesting to see what Razer comes up with next year or early 2015. I think they've seen that they could have gotten more sales with a better display. I personally think the resolution is perfectly paired with the GPU. It's just the quality where they are taking a beating.

In their defense, I just dusted off my Asus N61jq for my wife as she got into the ESO closed beta. The 1366x768 panel on that isn't great quality (especially compared to my Sammy Gamer 7), but as I was updating drivers etc and testing out a few things it wasn't that bad. Viewing angles were definitely narrow but after starting a game for a minute it was quickly forgotten. If your main agenda is gaming I'm sure the panel on the Razer 14 is fine. It probably just stands out as a sore spot since the rest of the unit is so good. I mean really if your main agenda is not gaming but productivity there are plenty of other units that are better at that with good design sensibilities and build quality but instead take dings compared to the Razer with lower gaming performance.

I completely agree. The 2014/2015 refresh has the potential to be the perfect computer if they fix the screen. It is literally the only complaint I had... I barely felt the thing in my bag. Okay and something better than HDMI (mDP pls).

The retailer I am buying it from in my country only has local warranty, and the Blade doesn't have global warranty. I am moving to Australia next year, and I won't be able to return home just to fix the laptop... Can anyone tell me how durable the laptop is?

I've owned the laptop now for 2 months. Mine is the Pro. So far it's been good but because of the nature of how this laptop is designed, i tend to maintain it a little more than usual compared to other laptops i've owned. Maintenance such as blowing out the intake vents and exhaust every 2 weeks just to make sure the laptop's cooling is at it's optimum performance. I have a couple of friends who owns the Blade too. One of them, had a problem with the laptop that he never discovered until he ran some gpu intensive programs on it. It started giving him TDR error and bluescreen of death. It would only behave like this whenever gpu intensive programs are ran. Ultimately, we've found out that it was a issue with the GPU. And he wasn't the only one in the world that had this problem. So far i have heard of another 2 similar cases. All of them had to RMA and Razer had fixed the issue for each of them.

So what i suggest you do is to run a couple of high intensive GPU benchmarking programs and stress test your Blade. If it has any problems, it should show up and you'll be able to RMA it when you still have the chance. Durability wise, you don't have to worry as i've dropped my Blade twice already. From my bed to the floor. Not even a scratch. And since you'll be moving to Australia soon, when it's warm there, it really gets warm. So you might want to consider getting a really good laptop cooler when you're there. I'm using a CM Storm SF-19 Strikeforce Cooler. Does an AWESOME job and it expends the rather limited USB 3.0 ports on the Blade. Check it out at CM Storm » Products: SF-19 USB3.0

Hope it helps answer some of your concerns!

Was in a van riding across the country over the Thanksgiving break. Brought along my trusty inverter and was able to play Civ 5, Rome 2, skyrim, etc the whole way on the RB 14. Even bright sunlight wasn't a detriment due to the very bright display on the laptop. I really like the display on this lappy. It aint perfect, but I am very happy with it overall.

Could someone run Bioshock Infinite benchmark with Ultra Settings + DDOF at 1600x900 and stock clocks please? Some reviews show that for some reason GTX 765M on Blade performs worse in comparison to Alienware 14, and I'd like to find out if that was just past driver issue.

Specifically here: Alienware 14 vs. Razer Blade 14 - Best Gaming Laptop - LAPTOP. I know that the overall article is pretty ridiculous in comparing two laptops, so disregard that. In regards to benchmark my own laptop got 40.05 FPS on stock, which is similar to AW14. They claim that Blade gets just 30, which is a pretty huge difference.

For any of you who have added a 2nd msata to the 14" blade what did you use? and how has it affect power consumption? I'm looking to add at least a 480gb or 512gb soon but I'm having a hard time finding reviews on any of the higher capacity models.

My friend from US bought for me razer blade pro via razer web store to me who lives in EU (its in delivery process). I have totally forgot about difference in power between US and EU territory and standards. Will default AC adapter work in EU? Only what I need to change is cable which goes to AC (from 3pin US to 2pin EU)?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hey guys :)
I'm buying the 512 GB blade pro in a month or so, and I have a couple of questions.

First I want to say that I was lucky to see one of these beasts while on a holiday in Dubai this week.
And it feels absolutely great.. a solid, matte, black hunk of poisonous awesomeness. Viewing angles from top are pretty crap, but from sides it is almost perfect. The switchblade mousepad was pretty good unlike what I expected. I couldn't dig around effectively since it is windows8 ( and it was the first time I got to use win8). Overall the thing does look sexy as hell, and the build quality seems to be near perfect.

    On to my questions:

Can I put more RAM in there? If yes, would you be kind enough to link me a good, compatible, 16 GB solution?

Who is the manufacturer of the SSD? Is it good? Should I swap it for samsung 840 evo?

When they say "boost up to X.X Ghz" does the computer. Do it itself? Or is there a some kind of a switch?

And lastly, how can I turn my graphics card off? For example when playing less demanding games. Can assign that function to a button?

Thanks for help! Read a lot of good info here already :)

They didn't announce any new laptops. They announced a modular gaming PC (called Christine) and one of those smart watches (called Nabu).

just read about Christine, looks interesting.
Was hoping for a laptop update with a better screen but guess we will need to wait longer for an announcement.

I'm thinking they won't announce a new laptop till either Nvidia or Intel releases the next gen hardware. A screen upgrade won't be enough change I feel.

The only reason I will not get the blade in the 14" is because of the screen, I am not sure if the panel can be changed, I am looking at returning what I have now to go for the Venom BlackBook zero.
