Just changed the original thermal compound to kryonaut and boom.
Top temps still reach 96, but look at that score.
This laptop is 3 weeks old and the original paste was not dry, but sure was starting to harden.

Really don't want to risk the new unit. Only if I get some actual pictures after months of people using LM with these coolers.

Holy crap! 3800!? My best was 3300~ with lots of messing around. I have a stable undervolt of -60 at the moment but you got good luck with the 10875 lottery!

Turns out that run was without undervolting....
    3923...what
    [IMG]

I guess I did strike gold.
Now I really want to hit 4000s
No idea how that would happen without some Liquid Metal or Watercooling.

Do you have any idea on solving the fake power draw output? modify the stock 60 and 90w limits

That’s... beautiful! I’m lucky to get 3200 with a cooling pad with 4 fans, and I repasted my thermals right after I took it apart with arctic silver. I know LM would be better but not worth the risk. As far as the power spoofing, no clue yet. Might be able to change the setting from default to user in AMIBCP but my laptop is running great as it is, and didn’t wanna flash my BIOS chip too many times. It’s gone GREAT with no issues at least 5+ times already. I’m starting to wait for the bad to happen. Lol

I'm pretty sure that's my best score. I'd have to double check as I keep all of them. 3245 was my best with, what was that, 98'C max temp!!? With cooling pad! [IMG] [IMG]

Thats not too bad, what was the stock value?

Any way of increasing the all core turbo values?
    I have done this
    [IMG]

But it doesnt want to go over 3.8Ghz today.
Still got 3859 in CB20, but with temps of 80-85°C today...weird...maybe the paste "set in"? :D

Ok, 4.2GHz all core in TS bench, but only 3.8 in CB20. hmm...

I just broke 4280 :). Hit 99C but hey I got there! Still need to add some new paste but pretty legit score.

Edit: I just got the temp down to 95 and got 4288.
Edit#2: Got 4081 with max temp of 85. Pretty happy this that.

Will see how I do after repasting my old stuff.

So that’s what my TS looks like as a daily use value. When on battery I disable turbo to double or triple the battery life, and when I’m plugged in I use Performance. This is my TS setting. No IMON magic here, wasn’t as stable as I wanted it to be yet. [IMG]

ok...how? I think I could do the same, If my CB20 would boost higher than 3.8Ghz.
The TS Bench easily boosts to 4.2Ghz.

    Mind sharing your mod list?

Regards the Power Limit, the IMON mod enables the menu to change the values from the 60 and 90w, but they don't seem to have any effect.
    Must be missing something

Yep in the BIOS with IMON set or not, changing the 60/90W values don't take effect. I wonder if there's an AMIBCP edit that would allow it? Could it be like the Overclocking Lock option that needed to be changed to allow undervolt on the 10875?

I wonder why my temps are so much lower than you guys with a score above 3800. No undervolt but LM Grizzly Conductonaut.

I just noticed the second half of your cores are clocked higher than mine in TS. Did you change that yourself or is that from factory? Is this all just silicon lottery?

So, I changed my Core Turbo Rate Limit to 51, 50, 49, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48, set IMON slope to -50, Synapse set to boost, Windows 10 set to Ultimate Performance, plugged into the 230W adapter and the laptop sitting on a cooling pad with 4 decent sized fans. Started at -0.0mV undervolt, and worked my way up to -100mV. This was for CPU Core and CPU Cache, both the same. Scores kept rising each time, the CPU Frequency kept staying stable at a higher value every time as well. Once I hit -100mV and Cinebench R20 finished the laptop froze and I rebooted. Hit a record 3500 in Cinebench R20, and a successful run in the mid-high 3400s. I've attached screenshots with scores and OCCT. I have the other 4 tabs as well, but in this post I was focusing on the undervolt value (temp, volt, and freq available upon request). [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Here's the best run, with all four tabs in OCCT. 3451 in CB R20. 98'C max temp, 99.32W max power, -90mV undervolt (core and cache), 4891mHz max core speed. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I have spent way too much time on this, but still 30 points shy of the 4000s.

What frequencies do you guys get when running cinebench? Mine does not go over 3.8Ghz no matter what I do.

In TS Bench it behaves the way I would imagine - boosts to over 4.3ghz all cores until hits Thermal Throttling.

If I could figure this one out, 4000+ is easily attainable.

Regards the TDP options, must be a hidden menu as @wireproof mentioned. I enabled everything I could to USER in the AMIBCP5 to no luck.

Also I seem to have some ICCMax limits reached?

The results below are with -155mV on the Core and -65mV on the Cache.

@SUADE8880 I guess I had the wrong UV settings or smth. Seems to be better now.
Also I did some test with no bottom cover and the laptop on its side...turns out the fans don't like that and I actually saw more than 10°C increase just from that alone.

All the tests below are just on a laptop raiser thing. No extra fans/cooling.

I just replaced the factory 512GB NVMe drive with a 2TB Samsung Evo Plus and didn’t have to change anything... getting R/W between 2.6GB/s and 3.5GB/s

Hi all-thanks for a very informative thread-I’m asking for some help here.I have a brand new Razer Blade Advanced 2020, which is only a week old. Came with BIOS 1.01, but due to the optimus bug had to upgrade the bios to prevent black screens when disabling optimus.

During the upgrade, the system bluescreened and is now unusable ( keyboard lights up, power light flashes green etc) I can see this has happened to a few others.

Am I correct in understanding that I can fix this problem with the programmer mentioned in this thread? And to get the right bios I just download the exe file from Razer, or is there another way to get the required .bin file? Obviously I don’t have a backed up bios that works so need to erase the bios and reinstall 1.04?
Would be grateful for any help/suggestions as I’m feeling a bit anxious that such an initially simple process seemed to have bricked my very expensive machine :(

If it's less than a week old, why not return it and buy again? No sense in spending money to fix something that should work out of the box.

Yup that is an option, but it would be a good opportunity to learn if I can fix it, especially if it happens again with the replacement.

So you'd rather risk voiding your warranty if something goes wrong in the efforts to learn how to fix something that should never happen in the first place. That's your call...

The problem was caused whilst attempting to upgrade the bios for the reason above using official channels. Ideally I’d not like to wait two weeks for a replacement/repair, and the opinions on this thread imply that it is a reasonably easy process/so yes that’s my call-which is why I asked for help, not opinions on whether I should RMA the device or not. Do you know how I can get a copy of the bios file, then hopefully I can use the advice in this thread and others to hopefully attempt the fix, otherwise it will go to RMA-I d ideally like to use this opportunity to learn something rather than send it away for someone else to do the same thing..

    - Have you tried connecting an external display to it? have seen that happen to people updating while in "dedicated gpu " mode, but they can still output to external

    - You can also try opening it up, disconnecting the laptop battery, and removing the CMOS battery, give it 15mins or so, and reverse the steps. Power it up while plugged in

Don't try flashing another BIOS as that can/does Void your warranty.. if all else fails, exchange it while you still have time.

Managed to hit 4312 on Cinebench the other day on a 2020 Blade Studio 10875-H..
LM'ed but still hit 95c (although the ambient room temp was pretty warm)..
Single Core score was 506 with max temp 84c

Glad it can compete with 4900H/S #'s :)

That was a really good suggestion and I had thought of that but only just before seeing your post as indeed I believe I was tinkering with dgpu only mode during the day, but had switched optimus back on before the attempted bios upgrade..

Unfortunately even with an external display connected it won’t boot properly.
All I wanted to do with the bios flash was simply flash the official bios that had failed-not make any modifications etc, and I was understanding that if it fails I can erase the bios with the programmer and try again? I was hoping that it would be an easy enough fix that although may void the warranty by simply attempting it, if it worked then no one would be the wiser? Perhaps I’m off the mark here, so happy to understand what could potentially go wrong..

Since you followed the correct upgrade path (Razer-provided dload) taking a backup is not "standard process", but in retrospect it would have helped you especially if you planned modding the BIOS later on..

While you "can" fix it by flashing a BIOS from the same model:
    - Razer probably won't provide you with that file (.BIN)
    - And you SHOULDN'T flash anyone else's BIOS as it can change your laptops serial # info etc..

Thankyou-that makes sense-I’ve extracted the rom file from the 1.04 update which contained a bios bin file-would that be safe to use? Obviously I probably can’t take a backup as the existing rom on the chip is probably damaged. I’m getting my programmer on Friday, so have been getting the necessary software etc which was kindly recommended here.

Not sure, as when I backed up the .BIN via the Programmer, the file size is around 16MB..
Pretty sure the .BIN you extracted is about half= 8MB

bought the programmer and set it up but it seems like its not detecting the bios from using ch341A when its connected properly because the detect and read and all other options grey out but when i unplug the clip from the laptop it shows the detect, read and all other options. Also when i press detect when its not greyed out (im assuming not connected) says unknown motherboard brand and etc. i continued to just read and save that file but it comes out as bin file and i searched and it says i can just change to rom by renaming and doing so it did but amibcp5 cannot open that file. i believe i am doing something wrong reading the laptop bios using ch341a programmer but i have no clue what im doing wrong since i followed every instruction.

Liquid Metal on CPU, Kryonaut on GPU
Windows and Synapse Up-to-Date, EC Updated, but NOT latest BIOS
Running modded BIOS v1.03 via CH341a and Flashrom
Overclocking enabled (CPU and Memory), Under-volting Enabled (Throttlestop), IMON Slope -50

    ThrottleStop:
All CPU cores Turbo set to 48
-.120 undervolt on Core and Cache, -.060 on Igpu
    IccMax 255.75
Speed Shift 0, Speed Step Off, - TPL settings screenshot attached

**These settings are for benchmarks only.. I run it with diff settings (still beastly) for daily plugged-in use, and another profile for mobility/battery life.**

    Thanks a bunch.
What Turbo frequency are you hitting when running cb20 benchmark (all core one)?
    I can't seem to go over 3.8Ghz.
Took same settings as you, no change really.

Does the lights on the CH341a turn on when you plug the USB in? Do they turn off when you connect the BIOS chip? If so then you might have the connection backwards. Pin 1 is the one with the dot on the chip. NOTE: This chip is NOT the BIOS chip on the 2020 Advanced. On my model the BIOS chip has a white painted trace around it. [IMG]

    4.2-4.3Ghz

    Try:
    - starting Synapse first, select CPU Boost Mode
    - set Windows Power Options to High Performance
    - then open ThrottleStop and apply settings

I figured it out. So if I trick the System Agent VR Domains IMON slope, AC/DC Loadlines it actually boosts up to 4.1-4.3Ghz.
Did any of you guys hitting 4200's did edit the System Agent VR or only edited the Core/IA VR Domain?

I maxed out at 4328 in C20, but it was not stable enough to do the TS bench fully.
So I settled with 4212ish in C20 with very stable TS bench runs:
    -160mV on the core
    -40mV on cache.

The cache undervolt seems to give the biggest effect, yet also makes me BSOD if I go overboard.

Only the Core/IA VR for me..
But I'll try the Sys Agent VR and some other settings later today and see if I can raise my score a bit

    Thanks!

    @Karlis Well that was helpful!

    Hit a whopping 4434!!!
    But at 100c! (LM'ed, sheesh...)
    (max core 50, -.145 core, -.105 cache, -.065 iGPU)

    Hit 4405 @ 95c
    (max core 49, -.160 core, -.110 cache, -.075 iGPU)

My daily use settings are now hitting 4200's consistently and under 84c, I'll take it!
    (max core 44, -.125 core, -.105 cache, -.065)

Think I'm good with pushing the CPU any further, was a very fun experiment :)

    Im glad to hear that!
Wierd how little the difference in LM vs stock is actually.
I hit pretty much the same temps at 4200...well 88-90.
I did LM my first Blade 15 Advanced (this is my second unit, first got RMA'd) and it screwed the whole copper heatsink.
Yet I did LM GPU and CPU, and the gpu side was the one with most problems for me. (the LM became one with the copper)

Well, found something interesting. Just opened up my Razer 15 Advanced 2020, and it has a different BIOS chip, a GD (25B127DSIG). The problem is there is no option for this chip in the programmer. Any ideas?
