Yep, you're probably right. I fully expect to get the 2013 model.

However, with PayPal I expect no problems returning it AND I've always wanted to try one and there's no Microsoft store near me, so I'll consider it a free couple day rental. ;-)

If it is the 2013 model it's going back the day I get it. But sku matches the 2014 model. Maybe they're betting on people being none the wiser.

But man, if it is the 2014 model and the description is accurate... (This item comes fully refurbished and in excellent cosmetic condition. It will function like a new machine.) What a deal!

I didn't see any warranty information other than the 30 days return policy. I'm thinking about adding SquareTrade or some extended warranty if it checks out... How about you?

I likely will not keep it. I'm more interested in it than anything else and will benchmark and disassemble and evaluate the heck out of it. Then sell it. At $1200 even if I get $1000 out of it, it will be a fun endeavor.

When do you expect to get yours ? Mine is for wensday. If it comes with the 765 gtx, Im returning it, but I doubt it, if the listing says QHD+ display, the 870 gtx should be the one installed.

My est arrival is the 16th-21st through secondipity. If its the 2013 version its going straight back. If they really messed it up they are going to have a mess on their hands; tons of people bought these

If I bought the laptop for $1200, I would have several pretty big concerns.

$1200 is still cheap for a refurbished 2013 Razer Blade. However, my biggest concern is the warranty.

You only have 30 days to return it, and there's no warranty afterwards. You could potentially have a problem with this computer after 30 days. The gaming performance on these laptops is good, but they get very hot, which we all know reduces life of the components.

You could potentially have a $1200 paperweight after a couple of months. We don't know what the original seller actually did with these. It could've been broken and then they did a quick temporary fix to repair it or use non-OEM parts. Notice it says "seller refurbished," not manufacturer refurbished.

Squaretrade could help, but they only offer 1 year warranty for $179.99 (2 years for $269.99), which is kind of stupid. In order for the laptop to have the same warranty status as new it would be almost $1400. With two year warranty it would be $1500. They don't cover accidental damage. Many people abuse laptops (including me) and just throw them into backpacks or accidentally drop them while carrying it with one hand.

With the computer being brand new from Microsoft Store, I paid $2059 for my 256gb laptop and then paid another $299 for accidental protection and extended warranty for 3 more years. I know it is expensive, but at least it gives me peace of mind that my computer will still be working for another 3 years. I paid extra $800 for 3 year warranty with accidental protection while the refurbished model has only 2 year non-accidental protection.

I could also potentially "accidentally" break it when the next generation Razer Blade comes out and get a free upgrade to the new model, or I can choose to get my whole purchase price refunded.

I don't think squaretrade even does used items. Anyway, if it happens to be the 2014 version I'll run furmark and all the plethora of stress tests on it. If it comes out in one piece, there's a decent chance it should be okay. I'm sorry, but $2400 is just way overpriced for this laptop IMO. At 50% the price, I'll deal with whatever may happen.

I would never pay even 1200 for a 2013 blade even if it was new. Outdated GPU, terrible screen. P34g v2 is infinitely better than the older version.

I also treat my laptops carefully and would never throw it...I guess one of the few that don't abuse them then lol

    New Razer Blade14 owner here!

I WAS the new owner of the 2014 Blade Pro, but oh my sweet lord did that poor thing have glitches out the wazoo!!!! I was really really hesitant about picking up the Blade14 after my bad experiences with the BladePRo, but I must say that after a couple days with the 14 I am a happy camper. You can really see which model got all the attention and resources lol.

Thanks for making this forum and thread a valuable resource and sounding board!

I agree with you that $2400 is a lot for this laptop. However, I did mention that if you do "accidentally" drop it, Microsoft will refund you back your money (the purchase price you paid for the laptop) if they cannot repair it. Usually in store, they swap your laptop out with a new one no questions asked.

In 2.5 years' time, I doubt there will still be Razer Blade 2014 models available that Microsoft Store will swap out for me. By that time, they would probably give me 2015 models or the newest 2016 version.

That's what makes the Microsoft Store deals special for me IMHO. I'd rather pay $2400 and have that option to replace my laptop into a newer model in a couple years or receive a full refund than pay $1200 and risk it being a dead paperweight in a couple of months. Then again, that's just my opinion.

Square Trade will warrant refurbished units purchases form eBay. As sad as it sounds at least I have eBay on my side too if it ends up being a lemon. And trust me this laptop will be put through its paces from day 1. It will be here Tuesday, and time permitting will do an unboxing video to see what the result is...

So my girlfriend picked up a 256gb RB14, and I thought I would share some differences I noticed between hers and mine. Both are 256gb. The logo on the back of hers is slightly brighter and seems like a lighter shade of green (if you go look at Min-Liang Tan's facebook page, there's a picture of us with our blades that kind of shows this). Also, the buttons for the touch pad have an entirely different feel. The ones on mine are springier, and have a higher pitched clicking sound. Hers are mushier and have almost no sound to them whatsoever. I'm not looking for a response, I just thought it was interesting how different the clicks felt.

    mine also!

waiting for the first "it's the 2013 model post..." ;-)

if it does check out, think i'll add at least a year of squaretrade.. with a coupon it's not that expensive and you can find coupons everywhere.

since they are used, squaretrade does not cover accidents but i'm pretty careful with my systems and i have renter's insurance that should cover it anyway.

I think you originally asked someone else, but yes, got mine from a seller named manufacturer_certified on eBay. They had the exact same description (even with the same formatting) and price as Secondipity.

Only went with eBay because of eBay bucks and knowing I could open a case with eBay if it was not as described.

EDIT: Emailed Razer to see if there was any warranty whatsoever on these. I'm guessing no. Their website says they have no authorized eBay sellers.

P.S. It came in the original Razer box.

The 14inch model is terrible. Still 8GB? High end models packed 8GB back in 2010. At least 16gb was warranted for, maybe even 2 physical dimm slots, which could be a little too much to ask. Still, 8gb is going to be a terrible bottleneck given the CPU and GPU combo.

    Ain't terrible for $1200. :p

EDIT: Your mileage may vary but... I was playing with the Synapse software and registered the computer putting my eBay buy date as date of purchase. It said I now have a one year warranty that DOES NOT REQUIRE PROOF OF PURCHASE. I wish I had took a screenshot of that before I closed that window.

If accurate, that's awesome! (Then again that might be just the standard message when a new system is registered and not applicable to used/refurbished systems.)

This is how I sum up this laptop:

    - closest thing to a MacBook Pro 13 retina with way better performance for $1200.

This is no Alienware 18 with a dual gpu and 32gb of ram and doesn't pretend to be.

Noticed a couple more things... There is no restore partition, and no restore media in the box. (Let me know if you receive media.)

Also, there is some Microsoft signature documentation in the box. This makes me think maybe they were Microsoft store returns.

you can ring razer and get the restore thumb drive, it doesn't ship with the box anyway.

and if I remember from the thread about the MS store blade it uses the restore partition that windows auto generates not the app that razer built

Thanks, I'll definitely get a warranty if I keep it then.

Did notice in the box there is a document saying it has a 90 warranty from a liquidation company.

Beat on it quite a bit today and it's working like a champ.

EDIT: Razer is providing ZERO support (including not sending restore media) without a receipt from an authorized reseller, and they said they don't have any authorized resellers on eBay. Guess I'd better make an image quick. ;-)

I was also able to get in on the $1200 refurb deal. Condition of mine cosmetically is pretty good, but one section of heavy scratching on the back near the hinge. Not the end of the world. However, no documentation provided, but the biggest problem is the lack of power cord. The power brick itself is provided, but the cord to actually connect it to the outlet is missing. Any idea where I can get a cheap cord assuming the seller isn't able to supply one? I assume a special one isn't really required, as only the power brick itself is the important part in providing the wattage. Again, I don't need the power brick which I assume is the majority of the cost, so any help is appreciated! Thanks.

$6 at Amazon: Amazon.com: Belkin 6ft / 3 Prong Notebook Power Cord: Electronics

I just got mine as well. Was a bit scared when I got it since the tape sealing the box was cut open, well actually it looked like it was kind of ripped open, and at first trying to power it on it didn't power up, but battery was completely dead. Plugged it in, and blamo! I made an image right away and am configuring it. It definitely has the 3k screen and the GTX 870m. Initial impressions: heavier than expected, but solid. Keyboard has quite a bit of flex in the middle. Definitely quiet with desktop use. Feels quality overall though.

Now you guys got me stalking eBay/secondpity waiting for these to be restocked. I could have got in the first time but hesitated since I assumed it was an incorrect listing.

well I was going to stalk those guys but they don't ship outside the US so for me the only option is to have by hidevolution to which they do a measly surcharge of 200 bucks right at the start, so no deal there.
