    Hey Guys,

Just got an issue with my laptop.
Battery started swelling and I had to remove it.
But I think that the swelling caused some screws to strip the screwhole and I got 5 different screw holes that won't get screwed in (tried several screws and they just keep on spinning)

I will order a replacement battery but do you guys know how I could fix the screw holes? cause my panel is only scewed on the top right side and all the screws on the bottom left sides are unscrewable.

If the threads are stripped there may not be alot you can do. You could put a but of lock tight on the screws and kind of "GLUE" then in place. I'd be careful going this route as it might be hard to get them back out if needed.

The only thing you can try is too tap a larger screw size into those holes after cleaning them out

I wanna get a super portable second laptop, found razer blade pro 14 with 7700hq and 1060. Is it good one? Any common issues or some failers after longtime use? Like GPU or chips melting or required reballing and some other stuff, or this device is pretty reliable?

In my opinion non of the 14inch Razers are really reliable. THey are still from the era where there was a lot of battery bloat, also the charging circuits dont appear to be that great, they run really hot etc. So I wouldnt go for it.

Contrary to other replies, the 7700HQ Blade in my experience has been the most reliable Blade I've ever owned, and I have purchased 3 of this exact model over the years. It's by far my favorite Blade design. It is much more portable that the 15 Blade. I have not had a single failure on this version of Blade.

I still own one today that is running as good as the day I got it. The other two I sold or passed on to family. The 4th gen Intel and older Blades were definitely plagued with issues.

Guess I’ve got another idea, instead of buying a used one I would like to buy a broken one :) Yeah this may sound silly but the price is really cheap. Used one will cost me 700 bucks and broken one will cost around 200 or 300.

The main question is what is the usual issues with broken razors from 2016-2017. If dead CPU or GPU is a common thing than that will be a bad idea. But if it is something about the fried voltage regulators then I’ve got a friend who will fix this for just nothing.

The initial description for this lot on eBay sounds like “Stopped working and does not turn on anymore.”

From what I saw mostly broken charging circuits, dead batteries, broken ram, broken GPU memory and dead GPU's.

This channel has a lot of useful information

    Hi Folks,

My BETTY4 11.4V 6160mAh battery has gone through the dreaded bulge death and I'm looking for a replacement. Seen a number of various options online for purchase from either the US or China but also seen a number of warnings about bad quality knock-offs doing the rounds. Any recommendations on where to buy a good quality replacement (don't care if it's OEM) and ideally somewhere with shipping from Europe to avoid custom shenanigans (UK based).

    Thanks!

No clue, can be all kinds of things, from a broken installation to a dead SSD or even a faulty motherboard. You need to try to reinstall windows or use a different SSD.

PSA: IC Diamond 7 appears to have dried out after 2 years and my temps were rocketing back up. I went to repaste today with a new tube (my old one had also dried up even with lid on), and can post the results below. I had to clean thoroughly with Arcticlean (much more than with a normal TIM) and use the full tube to paste the CPU, GPU and various chips given how much gap there is between heat sink and die on the RB. I did notice some very slight scratching from the initial IC Diamond 7 on my die from last time, but nothing too alarming and certainly not like the horror stories you hear.

Pre-repaste after 2 years of IC Diamond 7
Firestrike score 9173 (average) with CPU peak temp 88C and GPU peak temp 84C; Cool fan profile.

Fresh repaste with full new tube of IC Diamond 7
Firestrike score 9333 (average) with CPU peak temp 71C and GPU peak temp 74C; Cool fan profile.

Pre-repaste using external eGPU with MSI RTX2070 Super
Firestrike score 13,684 (average) with CPU peak temp 78C and external GPU peak temp 68C; Cool fan profile.
Firestrike score 13,567 (single) with CPU peak temp 85C and external GPU peak temp 67C; Quiet fan profile

Fresh repaste using external eGPU with MSI RTX2070 Super
Firestrike score 13,782 (average) with CPU peak temp 61C and external GPU peak temp 69C; Cool fan profile
Firestrike score 13,731 (single) with CPU peak temp 68C and external GPU peak temp 70C; Quiet fan profile

Conclusion: Monitor your CPU and GPU temps frequently with a comparable benchmark and re-paste as necessary to maintain thermal performance. Also this goes to show an external eGPU will not just get you higher levels of graphical performance but will materially lower your CPU temps due to the shared heatsink with the dGPU - resulting in better CPU performance and extending the lifecycle of the Blade. Also, Cool fan profile shaves off about 7C in temps vs Quiet.
