Hrm, haven't seen the Blade 2.0 announcement yet. Do you think it will be announced at E3? Haven't seen it yet there either.

If you use the Dropbox client, the files are still on your hard drive. And what if you're somewhere that doesn't have an Internet connection?

Since the first Blade came out so late in Sandy Bridge's lifespan, I wouldn't expect any sort of announcement until at least this fall.

Actually, I am constantly on the move. My gaming laptop is also used to download and watch movies. Music is also pretty important. So this laptop needs to have a bigger drive and also a DVD-drive. I know it makes a laptop bulkier but those are the things I need.

So I will wait for Blade 2, if they bring it out...

As far as the hard drive is concerned, it would have been nice to at least be given an option to use, say a Momentus XT, instead of being forced into a single configuration. Or, allow users to change to whatever they want without voiding the warranty, as is the case with just about every other notebook on the planet.

It was rumored to be announced and ready to ship by the end of the summer back in March. I doubt this is possible. I was hoping for the Blade 2.0 before September, as I need a laptop before school starts. I'm still debating Blade vs. Alienware as it is but the M17x config I would get is $500 cheaper and a helluva lot more powerful. At only 3 lbs heavier to boot.

The look alone of the Blade is what's really keeping my interest and its portability is tipping my choice in its favor slightly.

Still haven't decided as I need to wait till I acquire the funds for a laptop, which should be in 3-4 more paychecks.

The M17x and Blade are designed for the same purpose but go about their mission in completely opposite ways. Have you considered something like a Sager NP6175? You don't get the brute force of the Alienware or the general slickness of the Razer, but it occupies a nice middle ground in terms of performance, offers a wide range of customization, and is well priced. Just something else to consider.

I think people considering this laptop are first and foremost being drawn in by it's looks (and that's okay). I wouldn't consider a "less slick" laptop in this price range.

Meh, I think I've come to the conclusion that it is either Alienware or Blade for me. Most likely Blade as my PC gaming needs aren't all too high in standards graphics wise, and as previously mentioned in this thread it can handle Skyrim on high with some tweaks and I've also read it can handle StarCraft 2 beautifully. Those are the two main games I will be playing on it, occasionally an mmo or two.

I think I'm mainly getting this laptop because it looks plain sexy. I admit my consumerism and am not ashamed by it.

Eh, that's not true. You can't with the Vaio Z series, either. There is no "HDD bay" per se. The SSD PCB is just sitting in there.

If you need extra storage, pick up a Seagate GoFlex Satellite?

If they would sacrifice the switchblade UI to make a smaller and cheaper version of this notebook, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

An IB CPU and GT 650M GPU have plenty of horsepower to run the latest games at high settings at a resolution of ~1440 x 900.

I am not a big fan of Apple either... but seriously... Why on earth would you EVER consider the Razerblade with some of the new additions to the market especially the new macbook pro..

The GTX 650m dances circles around the 555m.

I am sorry to say but RazerBlade was a complete and utter failure in my eyes... largely due to its timing to Market..

Razerblade 1.0 if released in Jan 2011 would of made a lot more sense.

Right. I was saying that. GT 555m is mid range GPU to begin with not very capable with 1080p games. The GT 650m with GDDR5 is at least capable of gaming at 1080p. Not to mention the more powerful, cooler running, and less power consuming Ivy Bridge. It was definitely poorly timed. The new Macbook Pro is going to stomp all over it.

Yep. Diablo 3 max'd out looks like molasses on the Razer Blade. Just unacceptable for the cost of this rig.

Diablo3 runs just fine on battery power on my 17" MBP though!

Apple comes out with a laptop with far better specs that's smaller, thinner and lighter and yet cheaper than the Razer blade. Something's seriously wrong here.

Nothing is wrong... Razer was just WAYYYY too late to the market. When your competing with companies like Apple that's a mistake you just can't afford to make.

Apple did such a good job with the Macbook Pro that as i said in the other thread I really do think Razer needs to include a graphics card capable of MUCH better performance in their next model..

The 650m will not cut it! At the least I would expect an overclocked 660m or 680m "Both Keplar". I realize this may be a bit unrealistic given the Razer's dimensions... but I do not think my expectations are out of line.

If you are going to try and sell the Razer 2.0 for the same price point 2700+, and expect to just update it with Ivy Bridge and a 650m than they are kidding themselves if they think they are even going to relatively compete with Apple,Samsung, or Asus Ultra Books.

If I was the CEO of Razer I would probably scrap the Razer all together unless they are able to produce something with enough performance to truly hold its own with the competitors.

Nothing is wrong in the least. Apple has infinitly higher buying power than a small company like Razer. Apple can pretty much negotiate whatever price they want. Even at the lower price Apple is still making alot more profit per unit than Razer is.

OK, decision was made, put my Blade up on ebay as of today. Not so much for the Macbook Pro (too rich for my blood), but need for money in general. Will spill the beans here too. Yeah, you can absolutely upgrade the SSD; I installed a Crucial M4 512GB SSD in mine, and am selling it with the upgrade. You have to remove the casing for it to fit, but other than that its really a perfect fit. If I kept the Blade I would also have later installed a killer wireless bluetooth/wifi combo card. If my Blade doesn't sell for my minumum will still happily keep it I guess. Its played every game I've thrown at it very well. No real complaints on my end.

Good luck with your auction. I think you should mention the warranty implications associated with replacing the SSD, as well as taking about the M4 (which I understand voids the warranty).

Also, would you be including the original 256GB drive? Your listing doesn't mention it, besides it being slower than the M4.

(Note - I am not interested, but would be pretty relevant for those that are)

And yeah, still love it. Spend time making icons quite a bit. I should upload them somewhere.

OK, pretty cool stuff, now whenever i launch a game the touchpad lcd also brings up a large image of the game on display while playing. nifty.

Yeah, it's been over two weeks... time to tweet again.

Though there is a new GT 555M beta driver up dated June 29th... I will give that a try.

And good news! The beta driver lets you enable maximum performance mode and it WORKS this time. Looks like no new BIOS needed. On battery Batman Arkham Asylum and Diablo III both ran full speed.

Hmm, That battery at 0% Sounds alot like the issues I had in Windows Vista. It was an APCI bug with the Microsoft embedded driver. Simple fix though, Just go into device manager under the battery drop and uninstall the APCI driver then restart. After it restarted about 3 hours latter my battery started to charge again.

Funny how a single driver can ruin your day

Playing spec ops the line all maxed out except ambient occlusion off. Runs great at 1080p. Max payne also at 1080p very high textures and low shadows runs nice. And graw future soldier at 720p high textures, low everything else. lego batman 2 of course plays easily enough. Really loving spec ops. Was super cheap at amazon yesterday.
