Have to agree i have only had mine for two weeks and absolutely love it, solid as a rock. Only problem i have is i tend to just stare at it instead of actually using it![]()

I just received a blade on Tuesday and the SSD drive died today
It's going back and I'll get another blade as a replacement.
Hope this doesn't happen again...what a waste of time with all the SW i installed... -
did the msata drive fail or do you have a blade r1?
-
Should I unpartition the drive? it was cut in half 250 on one and the rest on another. the one I have been using is already at 77 gigs. and the other is at 250 (fresh). Will the one I have been using start to slow down as if I filled up a regular hard drive?
-
Jus delete fresh partition and then extend the one your using... -

Just a quick update, the atlas 480gb arrived yesterday and the memory arrived earlier today. the atlas is indeed a little thicker than the build in ssd but not by much. luckily the thicker side is the side that meets with cables and tape in the photos that were posted back in the thread and doesnt appear to put any added strain on them or bow them out at all which is good. ill try and snap a couple of pictures before i finish closing the blade up, as im debating on whether to do a restore back to win 7 via the razer usb or stay with 8 and clone to the internal ssd. i havnt decided yet but my kid is still taking her nap for about another 30 min so ive got to make a decision quickly

I've updated everything via intel. Still atrociously pathetic wireless capabilities. Videos load slow as hell, speeds don't every rise above 7 MBS (DL), and the connection drops out at random times constantly. ANY suggestions guys?

I was wiped clean with the USB from razer. Not that bad for me to reinstall everything I just made a day of it. Only crap thing are that my ISP has data caps -_-

I just purchased a Linksys N300 router and I am still getting horrible wireless speeds. Did I purchase the wrong router or something?

The main drive still worked so the laptop booted and ran just fine. It was pretty interesting to see the difference in performance with and without the caching once the SSD died. It make a quite a difference! -
One of my dynamic keys broke
Isn't returning to the same "up right" position the others lay in, looks like a spring is out of alignment or something. Emailed Razer, assuming it'll have to be RMA'd because it's not something that can be fixed over the phone...interestingly enough around the same time my SBUI started going crazy! Some of the keys updated correctly, some didn't, the home button isn't even working at all! And now the keys aren't updating at all either. Reinstalling synapse as we speak...hopefully that'll do it except for the broken button!
Edit: Reinstalling fixed all the glitches I was having, now it's just the button not really working! -
Any suggestions guys? Summary is I have the drivers installed but cannot enable Intel connection settings. -
-
EDIT: I'm an idiot. Never mind. -
EDIT: Perhaps a re-install in necessary? -
-
I just found out what my problem was, turns out I get my full speed when in the same room as the router. but as soon as I walk 10 feet down the hall it goes down to 10 down from 75 lol. So I either need a stronger router or a range extender or something.
@hemo that sucks to hear about your key. was it a rage press or somethin or just normal use? -

I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood now, so I don't have wifi issues like I did when I lived in that massive apartment complex. -
So I was thinking of getting one of these laptops. How are they overall??

It's like buying a Porsche Boxster. For the price you pay, it's not going to be as fast as another car around the same price and sure there are other cars as fast that cost a lot less, but what you get out of it is a smaller, more refined, fantastic driver (or user) experience that you won't get out of other models similarly priced. You also buy a name as well and a damn good one (Razer is an wesome company), and exclusivity, hard to put a price on those.
My friends/family/random peeps that have seen my Blade didn't oooo and ahhhhh over my G73 when I first got it. I got all kinds of that with my Blade. People that I never even talked to at the office (people that aren't even gamers lol) were coming over to my desk just to see it from word of mouth from others that had seen it. Friends that arne't even huge computer gamers wanted one just because of how smexy it is.
It literally is like a Porsche. You don't come up to a Porsche driver and say "Yeah well my Mustang (or Camaro SS, C6 Vette..etc) is faster" (Well...some do...but they're obv s). You go up to them and ask to see it close up, take a ride, YOU oogle over it. THAT is what you get with a Blade that you don't get with other laptops.
Build quality is great, it's got the unibody design that Mac uses on their laptops that everyone loves, you can just tell a lot of time went into it, and it shows, it stands up to everyday use like a champ.
Performance it could be better of course compared to other laptops on the market but compared to laptops that have the same thermal issues due to their size it's great, but regardless you're not buying it for that. You're buying it for the awesome user experience it provides.
Styling is fantastic. When I first got it I would just stare at it, before opening it, after it's done booting, before turning it off, and after turning it off, it just begs to be looked at with all the style it oozes. And touche too! it's so smoooooth. Would like to see multi-color back lighting, but I get why Razer keeps it green.
As far as price goes yeah, its hard to swallow since you don't get the top of the line gfx card and cpu, but it's hard to do that with the thermal headroom Razer is working with, they're doing the best they can atleast. Another reason is they're not a huge player, they don't get as good manufactureing contracts that the big dogs get, the more people that buy the blade, the better deals Razer can get with their Manufact. The lower the price goes. Price will get better over time as long as the Blade keeps being a huge success. I'm just happy to have started my ride on the train sooner than later because using this thing is just awesome. I've used Alienware I've used Asus, but this is the first laptop that I'll definitely be lining up to buy the next gen of regardless of the competition it has.
(this part is less a review of th blade but more of a reason why I wanted it so I could support Razer)
Also me perosnally, I like to support companies that "go against the grain" I guess you'd say, companies that do things they want to do because it's a good idea, not because it's where the market is or isn't going, even if it seems like a terrible idea, they don't let anything hold them back from creating or doing something, they don't care about the market, they don't care what the other companies are doing, they aren't doing it because some consumer report told them it would be a great way to make money etc etc y'know what I'm saying? That's what Razer is doing, and thats what I love. Everytime Min posts something like that it just makes me feel that much better to have bought a Blade so I could support him in what he's doing. I remember he said Dell gave an expiration date on when the PC will die out and tablets will just take over the world and he literally said "I don't give a about what those guys are doing we're still PC gamers and always will be and Razer will still make the Blade as long as we can" - not word for word, but something to that extent. I ALMOST had a tear come to my eye haha...Anyway, same thing with T mobile going no contract plans now, it's "month to month" service, I'll def be switching to them to support that and hopefully if theres enough like minded people all the other big guys like AT&T and Verizon will follow suit...HATE 2 year contracts..hate them hate them hate them.
Also, the company is small which is great. john here bought an Edge and the CEO tweeted with him about it, asking him how he liked it, etc...You don't get that from Dell (Alienware) or Asus. The support guy I've dealt with was great, phenominal customer service. Don't see that from the other "giants" lol -
I am glad there are people like you who oppose my laziness -
Sdot dumb question I'm rma'ing mine email says to return the blade how I got it, blade shell box, blade box inside. I still have the box but tossed the shell box it came with - I'm assuming I get these things with the RMA stuff or am I boned here?

Fwiw, it was happening before I opened the blade to do my msata/ram/ssd upgrades but I'm wondering if its one if those two end buttons maybe its caused by the lid closing on them? -

I also just got a (replacement) Blade which has a spongy down-arrow key....looks like around the same area on the keyboard.
Over the last week I have had 2 Blades in my possession and have the following observations:
1. The build quality does vary from blade to blade. Physically, the two units I had were ~30 serial numbers apart. The keyboard clicks are a little better on the 2nd one, except for the spongy down-arrow key which sometimes sticks(!).
The machined edge of the case (e.g. where you rest your wrist) is slightly sharper on one than on the other. Displays are similar...maybe same batch.
2. The SSDs on both SUCK. On the first one, the SSD just bricked altogether. I received a replacement Blade from Amazon (where I bought the first) and it at least is not bricking but I've been unable to format the drive successfully and it occasionally just disappears from the system (no drive found...also disappears from view in BIOS). This is not a dataplex caching software issue because it was doing this even without the caching software installed.
The units are going back to Amazon for a full refund. My working theory is that the blade inventory sitting at Amazon has a faulty set of SSD's.
I'm contemplating ordering a Blade directly from Razer, but at this point given the build variance in #1 and #2 above I'm not sure whether it's worth it. What has the reliability of the machine been like for others?
I'm using the unit for work so I can't really afford to have the hardware flake out on me like this. -

I am having a problem with my track-pad and tactile keys. I log onto my computer as usual and synapse logs in as well. The display on the tactile keys and the track-pad work for a few seconds after synapse has logged in and then turns off. I still have full functionality over the track-pad but nothing displays. Is there and fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.

- jk its 100%! Doesn't take long either. 5 minutes tops if you're on a fast connection

Anyone know if you can upgrade the ram??

Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk 2 -
How hard is it??

If I may ask though why do you want to upgrade the ram?

I have allready done this. But to no avail. I only just got it set up again and don't really want to reinstall again.
-
So ran into my first problem. The primary bay drive is not being recognized. I swapped out the 500gb drive for the M500 960GB SSD and when I first installed it the drive was there. I rebooted several times and tried the 500GB drive in again and basically every other time the drive is picked up. I guess I will be sending this back to Amazon. Should I try another one from them??

Understood but this is unacceptable for products to be like that. I understand that its been only out less then a year but I should not have to send in a laptop in for repair only a few days old. -
I had to send my away after having it for only a day (got it preowned so that probably had something to do with it). I didn't want to have to send it away since it was so new but just get it over with and enjoy. free 2 day shipping there and free 2 day back, should be less than a week. -
There's already a different member here who bought a laptop from Amazon, it was a dud, sent it back, got another, it was a dud. Now you're here and you have a dud. Obviously there is something wrong with Amazon's stock. Rather than take the gamble why not just send it to Razer to be fixed and FOR SURE get a working blade back? It's not like they're going to leave you hanging, they use overnight shipping. One guy bought his used off someone and when he got it the GPU fan wasn't working, sent it out and had it back within 3-4 days with it being in working order..
Idk, I guess it's cool Amazon offers to take something back for an exchange. But someones already done that and got another bad one right back...even if that weren't the case I'd still RMA because I guess I'm more of a creature of habit. Antyime I've bought a laptop there's never been an exchange policy lol...you just RMA it if it's broken, and sometimes it comes to you needing something fixed, such is life. I think having the mindset that you should never have to RMA something a few days after having it isn't a good one to have, but it makes even less sense to me since there is already a member on Blade #2 through amazon that he's sending back. There's obviously something wrong with the batch they got, accidents happen, someone on the assembly line called in sick the day those were made I suppose lol...But I'd rather go for the sure thing an RMA than roll the dice again, y'know?
