Update on this Free Prey tracker software, it is amazing for something that cost zip all. Tracks mine to 10 yards everytime i try, with photo/network id option your pretty much gonna nail any unsuspecting thief...Some companies are asking top dollar for less cover. Really impressed... gwan the linux boys and your open source...

Thanks man, i will have this in mind. Probably i will end up buying an R2 unless we get some news. However i see a risk for the R3 to wait for maxwell because it is possible that nvidia could have yield problems again pushing the release to Q2 - Q3 2014. This would make razer miss the 2013 gen of notebooks entirely.

Is there a way to program/override the behavior of the Razer switchblade button?
The snakey one below the right shift key :)

The synapse software doesn't allow you to do this, but I'm wondering if folks have found another way to do this (e.g. via autohotkey).
It looks like it might be hardwired to the switchblade, so inaccessible for programming.

(sorry if this has been asked before....did a Google search and didn't see any hits)

    Thanks!

Think they pushing the edge this year, with 760m they would lose battery life for minimum gain so imo cannot see it happening, also think intel have slight knarks with haswell and usb sleep mode so i cannot see it being this year, but you never know. I love my r2! you become like gollem " My Precious" some of my friends are still not allowed to look at my blade nevermind touch it ;) so as long as you not looking for ultra settings then go for it mate... Roxs...

In a word No, why would you want to?

    I suspected so :(

I use 3-4 different machines so I'm used to having the right control button in that key position.
I keep hitting it by mistake and it flips the switchblade UI, which is super annoying.

Maybe there's another way to disable it altogether?

Guys, my LCD screen is arriving soon. Does anyone here who own a Blade think the screen is changeable? My concern is not about compatibility of the screen anymore, it's whether I can actually disassemble it. The folks at Razer have given me the option to send the unit over to Singapore, the closest service center to the PH. At this point though even that is something I am unable to do (still trying to find someone I can send it over).

When I check out the screen and bezel of the Blade, i can't see any screws that can be opened. Can anyone here who disassembled their Blade already (for whatever reason, RAM upgrade, mSATA change) 'comfort' me? Like does the LCD look replaceable at all?

If they do it this year it would be Q4. I don't think they'll do another gen launch of something so soon like they did with R1 to R2 - and with the R1 they used tech that was about to go out of cycle so...they may not even care about waiting for maxwell. Min seems to do it when he wants not when the market is right, which is kind of their creed. Screw the market I'm going to do what I want to do

I can see them doing either!

I keep forgetting to download and use this!! Better do it now while its free lol

Meh. Just get an R2, Razer already isn't using top end gfx in this thing even with maxwell arch you're not going to see a huge jump in power IMO.

Have any of you tried dual booting linux on your Blade R2? You know, just for funsies. I realize getting the switchblade to work in linux would probably be near impossible at this time, but it might be fun to try.

I asked exactly the same question to razer support. They answered me that in theory you could in Linux; use the SDK that they provide and eventually program the Switchblade as well as each lcd button. This is one of the things i will indeed investigate if i get one.

Did you not check with the repair company in your locale if they could do it before buying the screen? To me it looks like a factory sealed unit so razer would probs just change your lid on rma if the lcd failed.

Trying to figure out if its worth even doing if it actually grants enough FPS for the hassle to OC. The 660M plays most games out up to High settings, would OCing change anything or just get you a bonus...2-3FPS? Cause 2-3FPS isn't much in the way of anything to risk having an unstable machine that could overheat under continuous load.

And it's done :D Glossy screen is awesome! Thanks for all the help guys, screen is as good as new. Bezel's adhesive got peeled off a bit but nothing that a bit of new adhesive didn't fix. Paid roughly around 12 USD for labor. I'm so pumped it's good LOL. Anyone know how to calibrate a screen though?

I see anywhere from 3-8 increase depending on the game. I usually run a small oc like 50/100 because it helps keeps the card more consistent and its usage not roller coaster around.

I would never run 1170/3000 unless I was playing a game like bf3 or witcher, every other game I play does fine at stock clocks or in turbo mode.

Well all but 1, I'm playing never winter and it taxes it hard.

Thats awesome amici. I hope you enjoy your refreshed blade!

Sunspyder or w/e is what I know if to use to calibrate, bug bucks to use it though!

Yeah it's great :D I'm having trouble with the brightness though, it won't adjust. Don't know if it's a software or hardware problem. Fn+F9 works, as in the little bar at the bottom of the screen adjusts but the actual brightness doesn't.

How do they only charge 12 dollars on something that cost 2500? did you have to sign some form that said they are not responsible if they cannot put it back together?

Anybody having this same paint peel problem on their razer blade 2nd gen? I bought it around october last year , Razer says they do not have warranty for wear and tear , i only used this for a few months ( ignore the pebble , i dont use watches while using the computer , no matter if it is gaming or casual usage) The paint peeling seems to be gettng worse.

Looking at mine it doesnt look like paint it looks like anodised aluminium which is a process bit like electro plating, maybe you have excessively acidic sweat or summat has been on your hands that has reacted...

    Whoa that's a bit alarming.
I can't tell from the image...is the paint peeling/flaking, or is it pits in the surface?
They mean different things. It looks more like pitting that flaking.

Do you wear a watch that could be scratching the surface when you type?
I noticed iit's on the left side of the wrist rest.

Hey there guys , i already stated that i did not use any watch while using the computer. Tried using carbon fibre texture to cover it up but it didnt feel that good and i removed it after awhile since it was transparent and the marks were still visitble. I wash my hands regularly so i dont think that i was the sweat problem.. the flaking is occuring a little also at the bottom of the laptop ( i use BlueLounge CoolFeet to kickstand them and make sure they are not touching the table) Also actually the right side has a little flaking , but much less than what is on the left side. Still dumbfounded as to why it peels. I live in Singapore , not sure if its the climate problem cause my friends do not have this issue. Actually razer has replaced the cover once for me due to some keyboard problem but after replacing the problem still occurs. And i wonder if there is any way to cover the marks.. Its nothing much but just a little annoying when i look at that spot. It is peeling as it isnt only on that spots , if you look closely at the picture , the corner of the razer blade has quite a long line of peel , it actually comes off easily when i try to scrape it using my fingers a little. And all of this is only at the surface. Like top plane view.

Put my money down on a Mionix Naos 8200. Was about to buy a naga epic but realized it's way over budget for me (almost double the cost of a Naos 8200). I wanted to try something different from my DeathAdder so I went with this. Nice reviews I'm seeing. Will be getting it tomorrow :)

To the guy with the scratched Blade, try to put a carbon fiber skin just like what I did with mine :) i had mine done by a pro though so it's very nicely put. Shouldn't be that hard to apply and cut.

Hmm..I doubt it's something to do with climate. If your friends aren't having issues that must not be it. And it's the first time I've seen anything like this not just a blade but any other similar laptop that uses this stuff... It's on the wrist area's, and I know my wrists area always laying on mine and I haven't had an issue. And it's on the bottom and one of the sides...Something enviromental to your apartment/house? I have no idea, that's wild man.

Dude...You're going to use a non razer periph on a blade? Blasphomy. :p

He said he tried a wrap already but it was still somewhat see through so you could still see the parts where it was damaged.

Maybe try a thicker wrap? Or one that's more opaque!

I know LOL, I've been wanting to try this mouse for a long while even before I had my Blade :D Hopefully it'd be good.

The wrap I have in mine is opaque. It will cover any scratch he may have. Maybe he needs to find a better skin?

Damn, have a question for you guys.

I posted here a while ago and in the end i went through with ordering it through XoticPc. My total ended up around $2900. They are still waiting for stock from Razer though so It's been a month and I still have not received it.

However just today someone was advertising their used 'New Razer Blade' that is around 4 months old along with the carrying bag, razer tiamat and even the raizer taipan for just $2200! Although there are other buyers interested so the priced bumped to around $2500-$2600 which is still incredibly cheap compared to the $3000 we have to pay for the Razer Blade ALONE here in Australia. He even lives in the same area as me so I can probably even just go for a pickup.

So now I'm asking what do you guys think? Should I cancel my order with XoticPc and settle for a second hand one?

Inspect it when you pick it up, make sure those black slips on the screws on the bottom are there and don't look tampered with, ask him to boot it up and do a benchmark test or play a game to make sure everything is in working order. If it is go for it

Nothin wrong with a preowned system, I got mine from ebay. Had a minor setback because the GPU fan wasn't working but I sent it to Razer and they fixed it. Now I use my blade every day and love it. Of course you should check it out when you see it to make sure everything is alright with it. but even if there is something wrong with it you should be able to have Razer fix whatever is wrong for free.

Just test it out when you see it and play a game if possible. Run it for at least 20 minutes to make sure it doesn't overheat. I got lucky and got a gen 1 blade for $800 on craigslist. The only problem was that he removed the SSD to install a larger hard drive. I didin't realize it at the time but that voided the warranty. Be sure to check how the warranty applies in Australia. Luckily I haven't had any problems with it and I installed a 512GB ssd. I also get a ton of compliments on it too. I was in the Microsoft Store trying to get Office installed and all the employees kept coming over to see it. I honestly thought I was going to get raped while in there.

LOL....I got a lot of people coming to my work desk when I first got mine so they could check it out. I felt like that guy with a Ferrari that pulls up to a car meet for awhile :)

Anyone play neverwinter yet? I've got the strangest problem and I'm 99% positive it's their software and not mine or my hardware but the game has 2 settings, a render speed setting and then all the graphic settings.

Game looks like poop unless it renders at full speed/max reso - but the problem is if I do that I basically have to turn everything off or on low, but when I go to look at my GPU usage, it's averaging 50-60%, I've -NEVER- hit 100% GPU usage while playing the game. I find that odd. I upgraded to the new beta 320.00 drivers and I'm still having issues with this.

Anyone know what on earth would cause my video card to slug around on 1 game but not others?

I previously played on max but when I am in the city I have to turn things down so I am just going to leave it on medium or something.

Whats your GPU usage like? Do you have nvidia inspector/msi after burner to monitor?

Edit: Reinstalled vid drivers, I'm doing a lot better, everything maxed out I'm anywhere between 24-40 fps in city depending where I am, a far cry from before, and I'm seeing more GPU usage, but still not 100%! What the H!

With the next gen Cpu/Gpu around the corner, I would wait to see if there is a revision. If you need a PC now then I will order it. My guess the owner is selling for next revision. Just an opinion.
