    Hi guys
Did you guys watch this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qobuAr0rojc
I did and I enjoyed it. Since this is somewhat unrelated to the thread I will say something about the Razer Blade.

I love my R2 and I use it every day. How are you guys enjoying yours?

Yup i watched the entire thing as well, really insightful and makes you understand the entire Razer purpose so much more. Showed this video to parents to help them understand why I'm looking into the gaming industry.

I just got the Pro yesterday and absolutely love it as well. Would have been perfect if it didn't have a static noise issue. I can technically get around it, but yeah I didn't pay that much just to get around a certain noise =/

Fingers crossed that I can coordinate with Razer and my relatives on having a replacement sent all the way from Manila to the US and back.

Yup, it took quite a bit of coordinating to actually get it here. Kinda bummed that after all that it had to be a small but incredibly annoying defect. Lol.

    Work with me Razer!

My Blade Pro or my laptop in general?

I've tried the same headsets on different laptops and they work fine, only really with my Blade that the static thing comes up.

Interesting thing to note too, I noticed the static noise only happens when it's plugged in. Which leads me to think it's either a power chord/brick issue or definitely a grounding issue which would make sense why it only happens when it's plugged in.

The 14" Razer Blade only has a single jack for both headphone/mic input. Can anyone recommend a headset that will work with this? I was considering the Tiamat 7.1 but it looks to be overkill for this laptop.

You might be able to get an adapter that would turn the two 2-conductor plugs it into a single 3-conductor..

I use a USB Plantronics GamesCom 780. I love it.

Yes, it should. The audio jack on the Blade is basically like one you'd find on the phones that have them. Very convenient versus needing a splitter.

I'm looking for someone with experience in doing an RMA for their Blade.

Mine needs one for a grounding issue (Blade Pro), but I need to ship it all the way from the Philippines and back. With that, cost becomes a very big issue. So I have a few questions:

    1. Would I need to ship back the entire Blade box packaging? Or will a smaller package containing only the laptop and the power chord be enough?

    2. I'm assuming the repair would consist of a replacement on the motherboard. Any ideas how long this would take? Could it potentially be a one day turnover after they receive it?

I'm also trying to coordinate accordingly with my end return address since I might be going overseas for studies.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

    @Ellyidol,

1.I'm sure you'll need to ship both the computer and power brick.
2.It may take like 1 week at least to be honest because they will probably have other computers to do. I hope I'm wrong though

Personally I'll call Razer support and ask them about your first question. Since it's long distance use skype or w/e and add money into it. Way cheaper then using a calling card from my experience.
Also sorry for your bad Razer that they sent you, I hope it all goes well and smoothly

    Thanks!

I'm definitely sending the computer and power brick, but I probably won't need to send all the other stuff that came along with it right? Manuals, the cool packaging, etc.

I'll try phoning them soon if they don't respond to emails soon, been giving a day or two per reply but I might need to call them if their responses aren't going anywhere.

And thanks, defective models happen, just bad luck mine had to be one. Lol.

Either way, this gives them the chance to impress me even more with their CS!

I just did an RMA. I shipped the laptop by itself, with no power brick and no other packaging materials.
I received it back 10 days later....they shipped the fixed laptop in a static-free package filled with foam peanuts.

I was given instruction to ship everything, unfortunately. From the Blade box, to the corner cushions, to the exterior outer box. As long as it gets fixed, I guess it should be fine.

Never tried it since it already has a second button for right mouse clicks. I need to whip out the little manual that came with it to see if it's possible. Nope, just checked the manual and it has images of performing different swipes but there isn't one for simulating a right mouse click.

I'm so disappointed in Razer. I was told I have to send the laptop back for the battery to be replaced. This is not an option for me, given that I'm in the Philippines, the time spent without my laptop would be far too long since it is also my work laptop. They DON'T sell the battery on its own even on an 'out-of-warranty' basis. Now I'm stuck with a fake ultraportable since I can't even use it without it being plugged. Sigh. This is the last time I'm giving Razer my money. What a frustrating experience this has been, owning this Blade. I love it to death, but damn. It's been so costly and heartbreaking for me.

Good deal right here -- What're you getting in replacement Cyanide?

Good luck finding one, I tried to find a replacment brick when my dog chewed through mine and I could only find 1 120 watt p supply and only found one on newegg, wasn't even sure it would work myself.

I know through testing it myself, and through another member that did this becuase he had to, that the power supplies given with the G73 Asus laptops work with the 17" blade R2. Not sure the brand, I've since sold it and don't remember who made it. But I'm sure you can google it and find it. If not, I think Xotic PC sells accessories and you could pick one of those up from them. But it won't be near as thin or lightweight of course ;)

Amici I'm sorry to hear this bro...It's even worse after all the stuff you've been through just to get the laptop working in the first place too and then this happens! Ugh!!

Let this be a warning to all those out of region people wanting to get a Blade :(

Edit: Hey Guys :D Sorry I haven't been around for awhile. Got a new phone and forgot to setup tapatalk on it for this forum and without that notification that so-and-so had replied to the thread I just forgot about this thread until now >_<

    Partly bios, partly driver version.

vBIOS only lets you do the +135, with some drivers there have been quirky things like that where you OC it and it doesn't work.

Try some old drivers, OC will work. If you use nvidia inspector you force OC the 660m to w/e you want, but it's something you have to do each time you reboot so you basically make a .bat file and use it everytime you start up, then you set the OC to w/e you want.

I got tired of it so I've just been running stock, the turbo mode kicks in and brings it 970 for you anyway so there is your 135 OC :p

For more info see the 660m Overclocking thread on this forum, lots of knowledge there about how to OC the 660m.

There are some settings in the Nvidia Control that you can change to force it to use the GPU. I don't remember them specifically I'll edit this post when I get home and am sitting down infront it.

After having Win8 for a few months I switched back to 7, it was fun, and is a great OS for general purpose but there were too many drawbacks for gaming that I just couldn't overcome.

Electra, Moray/Hammerhead - Hammerhead took Moray's spot on the line up, you can find moray's for cheap on amazon.

Wouldn't suggest using an adapter, I've tried them, they don't work well at all. Better off getting a USB headset, or finding a headset that uses a single analog plug for mic/audio like the Electra headset.

See above if you'd like to have that same option but through Razer (Hammerhead) :)

From a fellow Philippine user, I definitely know how you feel.

Is this the older Blade? Since the warranty is pretty much out the window, I would open up the laptop and try to solve it myself. Hopefully it'll be possible and might even come out cheaper.

Best of luck! Let us know.

If you're still able to have it repaired, by all means, keep the warranty. But for Amici's case which pretty much rules out any official repair from Razer, I would do the next best thing by trying to take matters into my own hands. Or live with that very deformed battery =P

Has anyone found a really productive way to utilize the SBUI for gaming? Any games in particular?

I just haven't been able to find a reason to let go of my mouse ingame to press something I can hotkey for my left hand or on my mouse. Wondering if maybe I'm missing something.

Quick question guys, I ran the benchmark for FFXIV and got these results

    Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130410-1505)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
    8088.039MB
    Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000(VRAM 4042 MB) 9.17.0010.2867

I wonder how long my blade has been using the HD 4000 for things. How do I tell it to use the 660?

It's kind of gimmicky, for the games it's got development for (except for the FireFall one) it doesn't do anything worth while IMO. Things like making the trackpad a mini map, that would be cool, but it doesn't do stuff like that. It just does short cuts for things...short cuts for things the game already has short cuts that you bind to your QWERTY...IF you don't use a mouse and you're just using the trackpad only, yes the SBUI is a great tool to have. But if you're using a mouse, making you take your hand off your mouse to do something your left could do, or something you could just click on, not really worth it.

For multitasking it's cool though. I do enjoy watching youtube videos on it while gaming, like music videos and or tutorials. Nice to have the resource monitoring app as well, the media app is fine too as long as you just stay on it, if you switch and go back it has to compile all your stuff again.

Novel idea, some of it's been done well, some of it hasn't

Goto 3D Settings for Nvidia, change Prefered Gfx processor to High performance Nvidia, Scroll through the list and find the one that says Multple Display performance mode and make it single and the one below is is the power managemnt mode, make it perfer maximum performance.

That trifecta of changes should fix anything trying to use intel HD 4000 gfx

I ordered my Blade Pro 512 on 7.2.13 and today finally received a shipping notification. I paid for next day Fedex and it shipped from Ontario, Canada. I'm supposed to be getting in later today in Pennsylvania, US. I've been following this thread, and the other 250 page thread as well with great interest. I'd like to contribute, so if there's any questions or some tests/pictures anyone wishes me to run please let me know and I will. I'm really excited, this is my first laptop (33yds old) and all I've had up until now is a desktop and an iPad. I bought this for my vacation home to play World of Warcraft and Civ 5. Please post below if you have any questions and I'd be happy to answer them.

Just cause the warranty is expired doesn't mean you can't get it fixed via Razer, it just means they won't cover it under warranty aka it won't be free :D

If anything warranty expiration means you can take the gloves off and really get into modding it.

Honestly the switchblade UI is just a huge gimmick. I knew this even before purchasing my laptop but I felt the R2's other design features made up for the gimmicky switch blade UI. Now that the 14'' is available, I am actually ditching my R2 as I really hate the SUI!
