I hope this new razor's battery life last longer that the 2013 one.

Dont think so, it would suprise me if it gets the same results as the 2013 model,
considering it has 4 times more pixels to draw to the screen and a beefier GPU without the battery increasing in capacity

I think the new battery is slightly larger. I remember reading somwhere where the redesigned interior (for cooling) allowed them to put in a beefier battery.

Cant find the exact mAH of the 2014 version, but it's 70Wh

    2013 model:
    71 Wh Lithium-Ion, 6400 mAh, 11.1V, non-removable

From what I gathered, Its suppose to cut the FPS down to steady 30FPS. Dunno how I feel bout that. Sounds like throttling?

I'm pretty sure its an IGZIO display though, which if true means that it should require significantly less power than traditional displays. That said, Maxwell to improve battery life would have helped as well...

Well in terms of batteryilfe that new batteryboost tech seems to work wonders, the old clevo w230st with the 765m only lasted about 3-4 hours, the new w230ss with a gtx860m lasts for around 5-6 hours, you can read up further on notebookcheck but batterylife doesn`t seem to be a problem.

I really hope so, spare msata, or spare M2, maybe both. We'll find out soon enough. I'd like to put an msata 1TB in mine when I get it, if not I'll grab the biggest M2 I can find that works. I will be very disappointed if no spare sockets exist but I doubt that is the case. Yay for opening up a brand new laptop on day 1 and voiding your warranty!

It is probably the adapter. I know that there were a lot of returns for failed adapters.
Is the LED light on the adapter on when it is plugged in? If not, it certainly has failed.
Best thing to do is get hold of a voltmeter and check the output voltage.

I need a laptop for school and I'm not sure which one I prefer the new blade or the new blade pro. What do you guys suggest? I need the 512GB version. I like gaming but I'm not sure if I need the 4K screen because I don't really play games that have 4K res.. I play minecraft, BF3, COD and I download a game every now and then. What do you think is the best for me? For school I will be working with heavy 3D software.

    Thx!

It depends on what sort of 3D software.
If autoCAD for example, than a lowend quadro would beat a highend kepler anyway

Pretty straight forward. It just limits the fps to 30 or wherever you set it at. I've been doing that with inspector for years. Nothing new really.

Think they said after April 4th, so likely some time after that.

There was a bit of a snafu last year on release, as many here will remember, so that might be part of the reason that they are more tentative with their dates.

I was upset with the queueing (or lack thereof) last year. Orders submitted day and date on the release were shipped prior to preorders.

I would hope that the preorder queue is filled first by their shipping partner(s). With any luck, Razer can arrange that.

not sure if that's accurate as with every razer system I have pre-ordered, I've gotten within the first wave of shipments.

I wasn't in the first wave last year after a pre-order placed on the day pre-ordering was available. Orders made on the official release day were shipped prior to my order. I think others found this to be the case as well. Razer pointed at their fulfillment partner, IIRC.

I don't think I was clear - mine slipped from 4/4 to 4/16. Was yours always at 4/16?

Anyone still showing the 4th? I have to wonder if the release date slipped.

Hey guys! I need a little help from you all.

I am currently using the Razer Blade R2 ( Pro ). Recently I realised that there is this bright patch on my display.
Now, it only appears when the background is very light or very dark, in which the patch would be more obvious. I do not know whether is it a dead pixel or not as the patch is pretty big. It probably covers around 50+ pixels. About 1 cm in length.
The patch itself is also irregular, shaped somehow like a splatter of paint or liquid.

There is also this small grey dot on my screen that covers roughly a 2x2 grid of 4 pixels in total when I looked at it closely. Now, this I believe is most probably a dead pixel as it stays there regardless of any screen colour. What's interesting though is that it is not a solid grey but rather a faded gray. Meaning I can still see the original colour of the screen when its is displayed such as red, green or blue. It's just slightly darker no matter the colour of that screen on that particular 4 pixels.

I have also already tried JScreenFix and pixel fixing videos on youtube where it flashes different colours very rapidly. It has not worked but however I have only used either method and left it running up to 15 mins only. Do I have to leave it run longer?

Is there any way I can fix this problem by myself? I really wouldn't want to send it back to Razer again.

That "splotch" problem happened on one of my monitors some time back, it looked like something bumped into the screen and damaged the underlying panel but I couldn't find any marks on the surface to blame that. I just had to dump the monitor and buy a new one.

No. A simple but non elegant solution is to put a laptop vinyl skin over the whole lid. You can find them in black that almost matches the finish if you want, or get something different that you like.

    OK first post here.

Got my 2014 and overall it's great (well, it better be for the price!)

    Few impressions:

    a) 3D mark 11 keeps crashing so I cannot test it :(
    b) Unigine Heaven runs about 40 fps at 900p which is OK
    c) 900p resolution looks pretty good for gaming. Played Borderlands 2 and it runs great at max settings at 900p. Tried running it at native res - heh, you are kidding me, right. :D

Now what I really hate - the junky touchpad buttons. They feel cheap and to add insult to injury the right one does a loud metallic "TWANG" every time I press it. Does not matter in real life because I will be using a mouse with it 90% of the time, and when I am using the pad, I usually just tap, but it is annoying after you pay so much for a laptop.

Kind of on the border whether I should send it back to Razer to fix the right button - then again no guarantee that they will fix it. All in all disappointing that you get worse buttons than what you will get in a $500 laptop, especially if everything else - finish, fit, design is top tier.

What are your thoughts on the buttons?

Oh man yeah my first thought was I hated the sound of the buttons. Kb is fine. Touchpad is excellent. Haven't figured out how to right click with two fingers though... if that was possible might not ever need to use the buttons

I have the previous Blade 14 and the buttons feel cheap but at least there is no loud TWANG when pressing the right pad button like I get with the new blade.
At the same time would hate to send it back to Razer especially since they are likely to tell me that there is no problem with the button, especially since at 900p the new Blade 14 offers a nice boost in framerate over the previous Blade.

The current Blade 14 can play Metro Last Light at what I consider to be acceptable settings and acceptable framerate at 900p, the previous one couldn't (to my standards, obviously, YMMV).

Hi all, I wanted to ask a quick question about purchasing the new blade.
Has anyone purchased the new blade and had it shipped to Canada?
What were the extra charges/customs for this?

    Thanks.

On a laptop this expensive, you shouldn't settle. Razer support is usually pretty good about paying for shipping both ways when something is defective out of the box, I've found. They paid for overnight shipping both ways on my original 17" Blade and they've paid for shipping both ways, twice, for my problematic Gamepad Controller.

The main body is a single piece of metal that everything internally bolts to. It's solid. I have a tiny nick in the metal just above where the power connector goes from a fall my 2013 took recently. The nick is on the edge, so it extends down towards the power connector and sideways towars the keyboard. There's no evidence of multiple layers, it's just one big chunk.

The bottom and top are thin formed pieces of metal that cap each piece. The screen's metal backing is not going to stop a well-placed corner of something from breaking the screen as my 2013 model can attest, but it stands up well to being inside a backpack.

I recommend the Razer Armor case if you're like me and have the laptop in a backpack that opens to the side instead of opening from the top. The armor case provides significant protection for the laptop. Makes it thicker in a bag, but most bags are made to handle thicker laptops.

Just got my 2014 Razer Blade yesterday.

I'm finding it seems to be having some cooling issues. While playing games, I actually LOWERED the resolution and settings to match
the settings on my 2013 blade, and while the 2013 blade is performing flawlessly, the 2014 blade spikes up to like 87C on the GPU temp,
has the fan running crazy loud and hard, and even hits an occasional hang up. Anyone else experiencing this?
