That sounds normal, they went from a mid range 75W GPU to a 100W high end GPU, it will run hotter and have to try harder to cool. I wouldn't expect the new one to run cooler than the old one.
-
under what should be a light load, I'm surprised how much the system is heating up. -
weird, I just reduced my desktop resolution to 1080p and actually the heat problems went away. I guess even though its in the background, haveing the desktop at the ridiculous res adds alot of load to any game you play, regardless of the res.
-
I have a feeling it really depends on what you had previously. Coming from the Alienware Area-51 m15x, this thing is silent, runs cooler under light load, and is probably 1,000,000 times better than that. Not surprising, but still nice when something is actually what you pay for. I paid almost the same for this as I did for that haha
-
The process itself was fast and painless, so that's a plus. -

The 2014 Blade shouldn't have extremely poor battery life. Others have tested and gotten it up to just under 5 hrs.
As for cooling, it's going to get hot when gaming. Should be bearable, though. I usually use a controller and didn't find the 2014 Blade to become loud or overly hot after a half hour of playing Saints Row IV at 1920x1080. I also haven't had any issues with it in day to day use, however this is after the initial setup period. Not sure if you recall, but one of the Windows updates that the system does keeps the CPU pretty busy for an hour or two (.Net? indexing?). After that initial setup period the laptop's been as cool and quiet as the 2013 model.
The MS Store has a good return policy. If you truly feel the laptop is defective (that's what I would call overheating), then I'd either return it for a full refund or I'd swap it for a replacement. As far as gaming laptops in the form factor go, you're not going to find anything better than what Razer's offering. A Dell may run cooler, but as a gaming system it's not going to be happy. -
Got the new laptop back. Trackpad buttons are great, no clanking.
I switch it on. Windows tells me - "no battery detected".
I guess I'll be calling them tomorrow to send me the third one.
Get your act together, Razer.... -
They say they listen to costumers...
16GB RAM,
Broadwell,
DisplayPort (external 4K @60Hz),
Europe availability
...would be nice. -

HI
I have a question, I have the blade 2013, And I might switch to the blade 2014. I Have a second ssd on the 2013, will I be able to take this second ssd and use it in the blade 20114 second ssd port?
I know that the first ssd is a M2, but does the second one have to be a S2 too?
many thanks -

Just got my Blade in the mail - looks great. Only issue: there's a noticeable wobble on the base due to (it seems) the rubber strip-feet underneath being uneven, though they aren't visibly so. Specifically, the back-right corner seems to be a few millimeters high, so when I rest my left palm on the palmrest under the left side of the keyboard, the whole thing bumps against the table. I put a very small piece of sticky cloth underneath the back-right corner and this alleviates the problem completely, but I'd rather not carry around the laptop with a piece of cloth hanging off of it. Is this base wobble a known issue? Should I RMA it? I really don't want to have to send this thing back, but it might be worth it. Or maybe there's a home remedy, though I'm not about to take a knife to the rubber feet.
EDIT: Just Googled this issue and saw a Macbook owner with the same complaint - someone suggested that he open the laptop, turn it over, and press pretty firmly on the rubber feet, because they may not be completely set. I did this and it seems to have resolved the problem - if not entirely, then at least mostly. I'll push a little more and hopefully not have to worry about this!robohgedhang likes this. -
How much battery life are you able to get out of your 2013 blade when just watching videos, doing word processing, browsing the web ect? I get different answers depending on review site. From 4.5 hours to 6.5 hours is a big range.
-
Vidoes will be more intensive, so I'm not sure. I've gotten 7 hours word processing/coding/light web browsing on power saver mode on my Blade 2013. I start using my laptop from 10 am to 5 pm and arrive back with 20% life. Roughly didn't use it for 50 minutes for lunch.
Edit: Light web browsing means googling stuff and opening pages that are mostly text. No videos/flash stuff that would drain life. -

Ok then, i've got my Razer Blade 14 (2014). It's so great and so powerful that it blew my brained out. But there is one problem. Does everyone here have "Not enough RAM" error, which says that you need to close the game in order to free RAM? It's not annoying, but it's definitely a bug
-
Do you have the resolution of the screen at a different size from the one in game? I think I read in some other thread in this forum about this issue. Try checking the one for the 2014 Blade.
-
-
I created a thread... but people seem to pay attention better in here. What external display resolution should I purchase for the new razer blade 14 inch? Thanks.
-
Any? As long as the Blade can support the resolution/refresh rate you want. I think HDMI 1.4 outputs to 4k 30Hz.

Hello everyone. Please listen to my story and have some compassion to help me out if you can. I really need a favour ):
I've been experiencing some problems with my razer blade 14 inch (2013) since I bought it last October. Firstly the webcam is faulty (it constantly flashes green), secondly after a few months of use the left click button became faulty and I now have to press down very hard to make it work (which is a huge hindrance when gaming) and thirdly as of yesterday my laptop suddenly told me that it can not detect the battery (it says 'no battery is detected' and now only works when connected to the mains).
I have been extremely upset because it's such an expensive laptop and I saved for so long to buy it. I contacted razer for support and have been told that they would exchange it. But when I investigated the terms of their warranty I realized that the seller I bought it from was unauthorized and my laptop therefore doesn't qualify for their 1 year warranty. I really don't know what to do at this point and as I said have been really upset.
My favour that I am asking you guys is, if you also own a razer blade 14 inch (2013) would you possibly mind letting me use a copy of your invoice (you don't have to disclose ANY personal information to me) so that I can tell razer that my laptop qualifies for their warranty and have it exchanged? I promise I'm not some scammer or anything and I really just need some help at the minute because this is such an expensive laptop and I've not even had it for a year. If anybody is kind enough and willing please contact me. My email address is [email protected]
Your kindness will not be forgotten and I will send you a personal thank you card and gift to show my appreciation
Thank you,
Melissa Parnaby -
And another bug that i have, some games are not lunching at full screen when my res is 3200*1800 (Bioshock Infinte, Battlefield 3). If i switch to ANY lower resolution (in windows) it starts fullscreen. Anyone enountered this problem?
-
i JUST got my razer blade this week and its sexy as hell - but i do have this weird thing with the screen i was wondering if anyone else does? i took a video of it here https://www.dropbox.com/s/4q5a00fx3ojfmw2/VIDEO0012.mp4
ive sent an email to razer and the company i bought it from (HIDEvolution) to see what can be done, just interested to see if its a known issue -
wouldnt have expected so seeing its a 3k machine! -

I guess I'll follow up with Razer and see what they say.. -
hey guys, have a question about Razer Blade R2(2012). been using it for awhile now and just realised my Bluetooth is gone , probably the card itself got problem, the wireless is running fine for now.
wanna know if the Bigfoot Networks KillerN-1202 or Intel Network 7260 wireless cards fit the blade R2. since i am gonna have to change it myself. thanks. -
I have a 2013 razer blade 14 (512gb) thats now out of warranty. The laptop has started making a noise everytime when it's under load (still there under daily tasks but hardly audible).
Here's a link to the video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9b7ziyibuuiupsb/VID_20140715_170037.mp4 (crank up the volume in case you can't hear it)
This to me sounds like the cooling fan as I understand is the only moving part in the laptop. (correct me if I'm wrong)
I've asked the Razer support the price of a replacement fan and I was told it was $5.xx; however I would have to mail the laptop to them so that they can run the diagnostics and this process alone with labor cost is $130. Spending $130+ to fix replace a part that's not even $10 sounds to me like a waste, as the rest of the laptop is just fine.
I wanted to ask laptop gurus on this forum, whether this sort of symptom is common among laptop fans and whether it can be fixed without having to replace the entire fan.
Also, if I want to take the fans out myself to take a look inside the fan assy. will I have to take off the heatsinks in the process?
Thanks for reading.
Any input is appreciated. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
looks like fan noise
I would clean the fans and don't bother with it, these things can come and go. and so far from the noise they aren't going to break the bearings or anything like that -
It surprised me that they went back to touchscreen for the Blade 2014 but now that I have one, I want to use it for something. Unfortunately it doesn't support the smart Wacom styluses but I'd like to at least get a dumb stylus so I stop marking my screen up with fingerprints when I sketch or play simple games. I tried a Zebra StylusPen, which works on iPads but not at all on the Blade's screen - it barely registers unless you press so hard you're likely to damage the screen.
Have any Blade 2014 owners found a stylus that works? -
Guys, I've a question. Hope you all can answer!
Currently, I'm still rocking my Razer Blade R2 ( 2012 Pro* Model ), equipped with the GTX 660M... and I have a huge problem.
So far, this Blade of mine has been through 4 RMAs, the first one being a HDD failure, the next is an SSD failure, followed by a GPU failure, and chassis damage due to heat. So far, Razer has been fair in their services. Their service is good but definitely not fantastic.
In the last RMA I had, they were unable to solve the problem of the GPU temperature even after repasting the thermal solution. At the time, the GPU reached 94C and caused the speaker grill to flex and melted the glue sticking it to the chassis. After the RMA, the temperatures peaked at a maximum of 88C, but is definitely a far cry from when I first got the Blade, which peaked at 82C.
Currently, I'm playing some Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs, and the temperatures rose up to 92C yet again. It maintains at 92C all the time while I'm playing. Lately though, due to the high temperatures, the GPU has started to underclock itself automatically to reduce the heat, causing my frame rate to drop.
Normally, a GTX 660M would run at 950Mhz after GPU Boost, but now due to the high temperatures, my GPU runs at 92C at 895Mhz. It's just sad when I compare it to when I first got it, which ran at 950Mhz at 82C. I've also attached a JPEG showing the GPU info while gaming using Nvidia Inspector!
So, should I RMA again? Or just use my Blade till the system really fails?
I would also like to ask all those who have RMAed before, is it possible for Razer to provide me with a brand new Blade like how Apple is like? ( I mean, look at all the failures in the past, and I also have evidence on e-mail by the Razer engineer, saying that he could not solve the problem of the temperature in the last RMA. )
Thanks!

Hi I'm an interior designer and work using CAD, 3d max. I really interested on this laptop but confuse which one to took.
I see that the 17" has bigger ram than the 14". switchable UI also looks quite interesting. But after read some review I heard that the UI so buggy.
I also interested on the 3200 resolution on the 14" and the track pad sounds much better than the 17"
When you play game on 14" and lower the resolution to 1920, will it looks like having a frame?
What about the mouse and synapse2.0. do you need to always able to connect to the internet? and does the synaps 2.0 so troublesome?
Do you think it's better to have razer mouse or logitech g700s?
What about the heat problem. do you think this will affect the life or durabilty for the next few years?
I'm planning to buy the laptop on November.
Please advise me which one should I take, is it the 14" or 17". And do you think razer will launch new razer blade 2015 around april or may? Thanks! -
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I can't for some reason find an answer: can we add more ram to the Razer Blade 2014 by ourselves? or is it not possible?
-
Not easily possible. Ram is soldered on.

I have The New Razer Blade (14-inch)
Screen:
3200*1800 is gorgeous. After seeing this live you can't look at other laptops at all. 4K videos looks great on this one. These are pros.
Cons - sotware. Windows' zoom feature is buggy a bit, 30 percent of programs are adpted to it. other 70 - either will run on 3200*1800 no-scaled mode, they will lokk tiny as hell. Other will zoom image, so Steam, for example launches at 1600*900, but scales window. But it's not that bad, it's just disturbing sometimes. IE works perfectly on this resolution, google chrome...lags a bit, if you are on power consumption mode. it lags as hell.
Games:
Well, wow, it's the first laptop I've ever had which can run all games at 1600*900 (previos Razer Blade resolution, fits perfectly) on ultras. ALL. GAMES. But still, we have cons!
1) DX11 games will not launch fullscreen until you switch to lower resolution, any res, but lower then native. That's annoying as hell, i've asked support, they told me it's Intel driver's problem...Half a year passed, nothing changed
2) Ehm...
That's all.
Anything else if perfect. Keyboard, gorgeous trackpad, gorgeous slim.
Razer Blade Pro is...weaker at hardware and i would consider buying New Razer Blade (14-inch) -
Guys, if anyone has The New Razer Blade 14 (2014), tell how do you clean speakers? I have dust stuck there in small holes, looks bad

So I have a Razer Blade (2012) and my screen has just died.
Anyone know the model number of the screen and driver so I can find a replacement?
Also any tips on how to get dismantle the lid to get at the screen itself? -
Hello all, I have a few questions regarding RAM upgrade on the Razer Blade Pro R2(2012).
I managed to get my hands on two 8GB PNY sticks. They are Dual Channel PC3-12800 DDR3.
Now, when I installed them, my Nvidia graphics driver kept crashing so I had to boot into safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers in order to be able to boot into the desktop.
Thinking it was my drivers that were messed up I tried installing a previous version of the Nvidia drivers but the same problem happened. The screen would get distorted and freeze up. All that would show was the distortion/static image of my desktop.
After a while of rebooting many times. The screen would just not turn on anymore. I had to swap back to my old RAM sticks in order to get my laptop working again.
So is there an update that I have to do to the BIOS or are the sticks DOA?
I know around pages 108 someone managed to swap out their RAM but I don't think they had any complications like I did.
Maybe the sticks just aren't compatible with this laptop?
I'd appreciate any type of input/help.
Please and thank you. -

Been having issues with my blade pro since I got it about a year ago
You can see videos below:

Anyone else experiencing these problems?
Also whats with the early voiding of warrantees on 2013 Blade Pros?
Also, I haven't been able to access the developers forums for the SBUI lately... -
Guys I just got the 2015 Razer Blade 14.
I am playing BF4 on 1600x900p and the turbo is not kicking in at all. When it does for second the CPU heats up to 90 degrees and then drops turbo. In intel extreme utility shows now thermal throttling but the turbo is not being used at all. Just stays on 2.5 GHZ. Am I missing something here or is the razer blade know for not using its turbo?
If this is the case I'm returning this thing tomorrow.
