    Hey all,

I updated my Razer Blade 14 (2014) to Windows 10; everything went smoothly. Sorry if it has been discussed already, but has any gotten the Dolby Home Theater panel working for Windows 10?

For Windows 8/8.1, it seems that the Dolby Home Theater panel is bundled with the realtek audio drivers. I want the Dolby Home Theater panel but want to stay on the latest audio drivers, Thanks in advance.

It does not work on my Razer Blade 14 (2014)

On Windows 8.1 it showed up my Control Panel under "Hardware and Sound" and it was listed as installed under "Programs and Features." It just worked and ran on start up in my system tray. When I upgraded to Windows 10, it disappeared completely. I followed Razer's upgrade guide and downloaded the driver directly from Razer's support site. There must be something interfering with it. I am going to call Razer support tomorrow. Thanks for the reply here; I am going to continue my discussion about this minor issue in the Windows 10 Impression/Issues thread.

The Dolby software DRM is that it only works with certain realtek driver versions. You'd have to use an older driver and try to keep windows from updating it.

I recently got a Razer Blade 2015 QHD + and I started playing Witcher 2 Enhanced edition but unfortunately I get a very inconsistent fps (ranges from 17 to 40 but most of the times at 20). Considering that I'm running the game on Windows 10 with the latest drivers installed and the game is on 1080p on High graphical settings (not even ultra for a 2012 game) with Ubersmapleing, VSynch and bunch of other graphical settings off . I also made sure that the game is being run by the dedicated gpu. One thing I noticed was that the fans were running pretty slow and quiet which is kindda strange during gaming.

Extremely strange. You definitely forced the nvidia GPU in the nvidia control panel 3D settings?

    Hi,

I got my 2015 14" razer blade a couple of days ago and upgraded it to Windows 10 straight away, firstly it is an awesome machine, but I have one question.
I am receiving a notification saying 'Optimal Resolution Notification - This is not the optimal screen resolution' in the notifications tray, does anyone else have this, I haven't changed the screen resolution and when I check it is at 3200 x 1800
This warning is displayed following a restart (It occurs most but not every time I restart)

    Thanks

Is it broken? AFAIK it is not user replaceable, but you should still be under warranty if it's a 2015.

Nope, but I run the battery down on a daily basis at work, so it's important that in the future I could replace it.

I don't live in the USA, I live in Thailand—a country where the Blade isn't available. Thus, no service.

Hey, just bought the Razer Blade QHD 2015, has anyone else had issues with the two USB ports beside the headphone/mic jack? I cannot connect any device to it without it connecting and then immediately disconnected. I really like this laptop don't wanna return it if it's an easy fix.

My CAT S50 phone was behaving just like that but it's very likely that the problem was on the smartphone side, altho no other PC's were acting like that; I experienced the same problem with a friend's pendrive too, once, so it just looks like Razer USB ports are too sensitive to devices problems (it could be semi-fixed by keeping the device in front of the port firmly, by the way, and it was a -strong enough- fix to let me backup the phone before RMA'ing)

Never heard about this problem before, so it's me and you now (if your problem is similar enough to mine); any chance it's just a late 2015 version RB14 bug? I got mine early december.

My new 2016 Razer blade arrived today, I was surprised because I thought it was coming tomorrow. Took a couple pics for any doubting Thomas's. The laptop under the Razer is a SC17, waiting for Samsung 950 Pro to be delivered and it's going into one of these machines.

pffffttt... i have 2x 950 pro (500gb each) in raid and an 850 pro.

FYI my razer blade pro has been in the shop for a year now and they still cannot send me a working replacement. My brother's blade is only a year old and his battery is already giving out because of heat exposure.

my advice---buy a bigger laptop or stick with the EVGA...

Razer cheaps out and cuts corners wherever possible --- For example, i have had several replacements suffer from ram failure because they use cheap Transcend ram.

Here's the latest replacement they sent me last week... (its a video so I cannot attach). It doesn't even get to the bios on battery yet they blame it on a Windows issue. Obviously a hardware issue.

I have had a Razer mamba for like 4 years and it still works too! But they really need to step up their system quality.

    Hello everyone,

I own a 2013 14" Blade, and some capacitors blew while I was playing some time ago. It still works after removing the debris, but it doesn`t recognize the charger if the battery is connected, so I`ve been using it without the battery and always connected to power. I would like help to specify the capacitors so I can try to repair it myself, as it`s not worth for me to send it overseas to Razer (I`m from Brazil). Does anyone know what are those capacitor`s specifications?

What do you guys think. Razer Blade 2016 or Aorus X3? Alot of you seem to be having issues with the Razer Blade... the build quality looks good but i rather not deal with BS since i plan to buy in the States and bring it over to Canada.

I just got my Razer Blade 14 2016 and it was worth every penny.
Honestly, the reality is that every single laptop will ship with a certain number of units defective. The people who are happy about their purchases usually don't chime in, and those who do have problems tend to speak out. That's just the nature of it. What I can tell you is that if you -do- get the Razer, and it's a good unit, you will be damn happy.

Any speculation on whether the 2017 Blade will have a 1060 or 1070 mobile GPU? Based on current specs and TDP, I am guessing 1060, but hoping for 1070.

Razer Blade 2016, by a long shot.

As NorthernEnd said, you can't really go by what is posted on internet forums as a measure of product reliability; because most of the time, those forums are filled with a very vocal minority. Every electronic device ever shipped has a small chance of being dead-on-arrival. You can't predict if that will happen to you, regardless of brand, manufacturer, model, etc.

And believe me... if you want to get an idea of cutting corners on build quality, go look at any Taiwanese-designed and Taiwanese-made laptop (Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Sager / Clevo, etc). Those companies design laptops with Asia as its primary market. And in Asia, the market is dominated by bang-for-your-buck on specifications. And in order to do that, they often cut corners in a lot of areas that aren't listed on spec sheets; such as build quality, materials, screen quality, keyboard flex, noise, heat dissipation, etc. This is why something like a Gigabyte P34W v5 sells for several $100's less than a Razer Blade, despite the fact that they have nearly identical on-paper specifications.

Oh i understand that. The question for me is does the price make it worth it? The more I think about it the more I think people who think the new Blade will be $2400 are correct based on this ones pricing. If that's the case it is a tough decision. Most people give great reviews to both aorus and razer with razer mostly beating it in build quality.

If I'm not mistaken it's just a 3-finger swipe sideways?

Try going into the synaptics control panel and check there if it's not working.

Hey guys I just have a question about how easy it is to upgrade the 14" Blade. Really looking for a super portable, powerful lightweight laptop to carry around with me and use frequently, and also have the power to game when I am away and need/want to. I was worried about the Razer at first and never a fan of their peripherals but a lot of reviews tend to rate it pretty highly. My only concerns are the possible heat issues and battery going bad but otherwise things seem to be okay for most people.

Other than those 2 issues, how easy is it to upgrade? I know RAM is soldered on, I'm mainly concerned about the SSD. If I purchase one I'd like to get the base 4k screen model and upgrade to a 1TB SSD, is this easy to do or would it require removing the motherboard or is it right there when you open it up? Have there been any ideas on when the new model will come out yet with the 1060 or do I just have to keep waiting and keeping an eye out between razer, msi, and aorus? They really seem to be the main companies out right now with laptops in the size/weight/portability range I am looking for.

Swapping ssd is easy, you just need to remove the back plate and lift up one contacts to be able to unscrew the drive.

My battery came with 10% less health than the one declared (altho it looks like I just was unlucky, barely heard about this problem ever) and by just avoiding it dropping under 30% when I could (just set the alert at that rate) it's lost like 1.5%more in 7 months, which is great considering the average loss of 20%/year of most batteries.

I didn't really play THAT much, but it's plugged in while I'm gaming (so 100% battery + AC, which kills batteries) an average of 2 hours a day, I guess, so the small loss still looks good as hell.

Heat is an issue, indeed, but newer versions (I have the 2015 model) suffer less from this than I do, due to newer CPUs.

Anyway, it is an issue just under gaming loads and it never gets unplayable.

Ive bought this since I study far from home which made me need to have a portable light and small device (and a powerful one as a space engineering student) and I fell in love with my RB as soon as I unboxed it, the much it covered all my needs.

The more I read the more I want one just waiting for this new one sucks. The issues even when bad seem to be able to be resolved with razer as long as you are under warranty and if I buy a unit like this I will probably try to buy an extra warranty through squaretrade just in case something happens outside of the 1 year. I just hope more info comes out soon about the new ones as I am getting antsy and want to order a laptop now my only trouble is higher res touchscreen and worse battery life or 1080p and save money decisions decisions...

This has happened to me once on a Zenbook; nothing I tried / my infrared welder owning friend worked.

We tried reballing everything, nothing has actually worked.

I obviously tried changing screen at first but it looked like a mobo issue.

    No.

If you don't know why you need 32GB of RAM, then you don't need 32GB of RAM.

I can promise you that you are never in a situation where you even come close to using 16GB of RAM. Any more would be a waste.

    Hi,
    three Topics.

    RAM
the CPUs should support up to 32GB 1600 mhz.
Crazy enough people could pull this off.

Problem number one is price, 4GB chips cost aproxamitly more then 7$ per chip in quantetys, below 50 chips, and a blade takes 4x8 = 32.
8GB chips probably cost like 12$ each.
Making the update probably cost more then 200$ only in the RAM chips.
Still Below Apple in some cases, but this doesen't include labor.

Problem number two is how to get the old chips of the board, they are glued in place by some nasty red stuff.
    Probably heatresistent.
    Anyone know more ?

    Battery
Searching for "Betty" with some other info like mAh, actually brings up a lot of shops that cary a battery that looks to be the one used in the Blades. There are even LI-Ion (2014) and LI-PO (2015) versions out there.
    In general 100$.

    Any experince with those?

    Charger
mine broke today, shutting of under load.
    19V 7.9A 150W.
Any experience with a good replacement?

    Thx and Sincerely
    Rage
