Is the game actually performing badly or are you just noticing that?

Not sure why anyone cares about Turbo in gaming anyway. It caps at 20 seconds iirc on non-extreme CPU's.

Make sure you are on perfomance battery plan, otherwise Turbo is not working. It's Intel's issue, after all.
    Try contacting Razer Support.

Cant wait to get mine tomorrow. All these HQ cpu's have throttle issues, so i wont be surprised to see the blade have it it also. The TDP is just too low. Try undervolting in intel XTU to help keep it below the 47watt TDP. Should boost for much longer. But honestly, all HQ cpu's i have tested have this behavior, don't return it.

    Hi Chaps,
Been a while just reporting in... The old Blade R2 is firing along just fine except the battery is complete dead these days but not much of a problem tbh. Anyone sourced a spare battery? As I,m in the uk and sending unit back to razor is a non starter. I have recently upgraded(not for the faint hearted) now got 16 gb vengeance mem, 1 tb 840 evo msata, 1 tb 840 evo ssd and 7260 wifi chip... Rocking along using it mainly as my music/dj pc. Still love it to bits... :)

Depends on the price and condition and if it has an ext warranty.

BTW, Razer warranties don't technically transfer between owners. Ofc, if you have access to original info, then you could probably get away with it.

Hi everyone, I have read these forums for a couple of years now and just made an account to do this post. After debating since the 2013 version, I finally pulled the trigger on the 2015 Blade 14 (3k / 16 G Ram version). It's beautiful, feels very solidly built, loads everything faster than my bro's MBP, which is all to be expected. This is my first personal laptop, always used a desktop rig to game and a work issued laptop. The resolution isn't as much of an issue as I thought it would be, I'm finding most programs scale well. I've been playing league of legends and switched the res to 1920 and it runs flawlessly.

A few things that I did not expect (at least to the degree that they exist):

    1) This thing runs HOT. Even 15 minutes of internet browsing makes it unbearable to keep it on your lap. I bought a cheep cooling pad when I bought this for good measure and now I can't imagine ever not using the cooling pad, even in my lap. Kind of defeats the purpose of the thin form factor, I'm going to be toting this cooling pad with me where ever I go. I expected serious heat for this class of laptop but wow...

    2) While the keyboard and touch pad feel and respond extremely well (definitely better than Mac, as others have reported), the touch pad itself is not backlit so don't expect to use it in the dark; partly because the touch pad buttons are inexplicably TINY, and I haven't yet adjusted to their placement because of that so my thumb ends up groping for them every time I need to click. I don't know why they would make them so small, they are really small. This makes no sense to me, the pad itself has a lot of real estate.

    3) It's been quiet as a mouse as far as I can tell but again I've had it on a cooling pad at all times.

Overall I love this thing. It's obviously extremely high quality hardware, run games without blinking, and the screen is beautiful. I also HATE the reflections in glossy screens so I was worried about buying this particular build but I'm finding the reflections are negligible even with natural light.

    Question.

Is the Razer Blade trackpad glass or just smooth coated?

I don't want to buy it if it not glass because the black coating will look horrible after a short while. (like my other black laptops. Sony and Black MacBook)

    Thanks!

    1) It should not be getting hot when browsing the web. I am not sure what the problem is there. Check if it's constantly running in High performance or if there is some program running in the background. I am able to play the Sims 4 with it on my lap and while it gets warm, it is never hot and that is even on the High Performance spec.

    2) I find them to be a good size but I guess it depends on your fingers. It is a gaming laptop however so the dedicated buttons are a must. The large area is also preferable for Windows gestures. Alienware has a backlit touchpad on their AW15 so you may want to check that out.

    3) Again, never used a cooling pad and especially not when I'm not gaming. You should be seeing temps around the high 40s when browsing even with multiple tabs open.

I don't think it's glass, it seems like a different surface. Personally it still looks flawless over 2 months in but maybe a user that has had a Blade for a longer period of time can tell you how it holds up after a longer period of time.

You can add constraints on how your Razer Blade unit performs using Intel XTU. I'll share a simple setting I use for on-the-go (look towards the top right). The idea is that you don't normally need the CPU power unless you're doing more heavier duty tasks. In terms of gaming, you will probably never need more than 2.2GHz. However, if you play something like an MMO of some sort where you need to load tons of data dynamically moving about and rendering over and over, you will probably want to adjust to slightly higher multipliers for 3-4 Active cores to add the 7-15FPS back. Just make sure you properly adjust TDP limits so it doesn't get too hot and also decrease voltage for anything you're NOT using.

Can anyone help me out. Got an assignment to do but my battery seems to be not working. It says battery is not detected. I've tried uninstalling it via device manager and shut it down. But the moment it is turned on again, it said "battery detected but not charging" which later turned into "battery is no detected" again. Any help?

Sorry to inform you, but your battery has given up the ghost. (it's dead) your only option is to send it in for repairs.

Oh well. I accidentally left it on for days. My fault really, I disabled the auto-sleep. Do you know how can I get a replacement battery? I live in the UK and bought it from hidevolution about 1.5 years ago. Won't mind replacing it myself as I think the warranty expired months ago now. Also I have installed another SDD.

Hey man hate to be the bearer of bad news. I am in the exact same situation as you, unfortunately, you cannot get a replacement battery anywhere, trust me, others have tried and failed. The only option is to send it in. And burn another whole in your wallet.
I paid over $2700 for my laptop, and just shy of 2 year's and have to deal with this nonsense. My situation is worse. Not only did the battery stop charging, it swoll up, and cracked the casing.
There is no happy ending here. Cut your losses and sell that overpriced garbage before it gets worse.

I replaced mine with an msi gs60, been very happy with it.

Appreciate the heads up. Do you mind telling me how much does it cost to have them replace the battery? I haven't been using mine for gaming solely on coding and work. And I would love to get at least two more years from this laptop before replacing it.

    Would appreciate any reply. Cheers.

Hi I just ordered a Razer Blade from ebay. Have been drewling over this pc for two years. Just wondering what I should do first when I receive my new Razer? Is there a lot of junkware to remove? How about driver updates, is Razer good about posting them so its easy to download and install? Thanks Jeff

There is zero junk. I uninstalled the Dolby stuff since I'm using Razer's surround software.

Just let razer synapse, geforce experience, and Windows update handle drivers and patches automatically, nothing to do manually really on that front aside from drivers for any additional hardware you connect that isn't Razer branded.

Hi HFM, Thanks for the info! Boy Razer seems to keep a low profile... I wanted to buy some razer gear on their store and can't get past the review your order screen. And, there seems to be know number to call if you're having trouble with orders. I tried one number i found on the web but its for razer laptop support. I hope this isn't a omen of what's to come with my new Razer Blade!

Hi, Well I've got my razer blade and its fantastic. I went to razerzone.com to look for driver and or bios updates. Well, all the drivers were dated from june 2013 and i couldn't find any bios updates. Am I missing something? Windows update did install one razer update and one intel video driver update, so maybe I'm ok. Thanks, Jeff

Mind I ask guys, is there a way for me to enable something like "Always enable media keys". For example, I don't need to press the FN key to press the volume, play/pause, screen/keyboard brightness, and etc. While to access the F1-F12 keys, need to use the FN key. Basically swapping those two orders.

Since it's not an option in Synapse (just checked), not sure it's actually possible at all.

I've actually noticed there's a couple games that I can't Fn+F2/F3 to control the volume in-game. If I'm not mistaken both Skyrim and Witcher3 exhibit this. It seems if the Fn key can be "disabled" in some cases, it should be possible to control somehow.

    https://twitter.com/razersupport/status/497074647809011712

I also tried switching the "NumLock" status in the BIOS just now, no dice. That option makes zero sense on a Blade 14, maybe only relevant if you have an external keyboard with a numpad.

Hello, I own a Razer Blade, 2015 edition with 3200x1800 screen resolution.

I have an issue on the screen, when display large area of light color (e.g. white), there is kind of dust effect on the screen. Like there is some light gray particles all over the screen.

Does somebody noticed the same issue?

I already send back the computer back, they sent me a new one but there is still the same issue.
A guy at a Microsoft store told me that it's a common issue on very high dpi screen display but,
after read/watch a lot of reviews about the 2014 and 2015 editions, all say that this computer have a so beautiful screen, for every colors, etc.

I think if they saw what I saw, they would noticed.
Really wonder if it's normal or if I'm unlucky.

One way of that is, ya, override using Synapse. But then i won't be able to access the F1-F12 keys (because even pressing the FN + F keys, it'll still trigger the multimedia function) :/

The fact of the matter is, the IGZO panel (Sharp LQ140Z1JW01) in the Blade has a Antiglare coating (Haze 42%) with a glass panel in front of it. You're seeing that.

Hi I've got a question about my razer 2013 14". There is something called m audio legacy driver. I was wondering if this came from razer or did the original owner install it? It doesn't seem to run automatically on boot-up. If I look in the m audio folder i see things like: m audio legacy audio driver, m audio legacy keyboard... Any help would be appreciated! Jeff

Hi guys I have a question/concern about the fps i'm getting in a regular game of Minecraft. I've seen a video online and a guy with the same razer blade as me (2015) was getting at least 100-200 fps on max settings with playing on a server with many many people. However, for me, I can only seem to get 40-60 fps on single player and multiplayer servers. Any suggestions concerning what settings on the laptop itself I should be using would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it might be using integrated graphics. Force it to use dGPU in the nvidia control panel. I would say perhaps vsync as well, but it should be at 60FPS always in that case.

Right click the desktop, choose "nvidia control panel".

Pick minecraft from the "select a program" dropdown, if it's not there click Add and navigate to the .exe for minecraft (sorry I don't play minecraft, have no idea what it is)

Make sure "High performance nvidia processor" is selected underneath for the GPU selecton. Click APPLY down at the bottom of the window, don't close it without clicking apply, it'll take a second..

    See if that helps.

See if there's a vsync setting in Minecraft.

Actually, it might be because it's running at 3200x1800 when full screen. Can you force the full screen resolution?

Might be that you have to change your desktop resolution. I'm
You might just have to change your desktop resolution to 1080p or something before playing it and switch it back afterward. If you don't see a setting for it, that's probably it.

Razerblade 2012... Will this be able to upgrade to windows 10. I have recently had a update to synapse which said it was 100% compatible... Is this correct? Just I have all my DJ/Pro Audio software/hardware on it and don't want to eff anything up...

Quick question - I have the 2015 256gb (3K) version of the Blade and am loving it. However since I decided to also make this my work laptop, I'm going to start running into storage issues sooner rather than later, especially as I add more games. Can I manually add another SSD to this particular model, or does it not have the extra slot for it?
