just wanted to update: so far the replacement from amazon is still going perfectly. Temps are amazing for this system. I played with some overclocking on the gtx 1080 and was able to match the desktop gtx 1080 founders editions in firestrike ultra graphic scores :) temps never went above 74C! This will definitely be a keeper.

Clean install is not a solution. Change SSDs - not a solution also. Not help.
Last chance that need to try is turn off RAID0 and test.

Halogod how many laptops did you go through to get this perfect one? I am waiting on my first from amazon, I shipped it to my father stateside and he is sending it to me in Japan. I am hoping I don't have to replace it because that will be a lengthy process being overseas. I'm glad you got a perfect working one finally though. I'm excited to get mine for sure!

It's definitely a crapshoot. After thinking I finally got a good one, after semi discharging the battery it started it's random shutoff shenanigans again.

Part of me is glad I'm not the only one to have issues. . the other part of me is sad that such a beautiful machine is so fundamentally flawed by QC from whoever manufacters these for Razer....

    Now patiently waiting for #3.

This is my fourth one. It was well worth the headache. This laptop is hands down the best machine you can buy( once you get a good one). I am extremely picky though, if a key doesn't click right I'll return it. So most people wouldn't have gone through 4 like me. I hope you get a good one, you are going to love this beast.

Have had my RBP almost a week and am extremely pleased with the performance, thermals and overall usability. Tried several other gaming laptops with gtx1080/1070 and overall the RBP was the best fit. While the gtx1080 is underpowered compared to the Alienware 17r4, I have found the thermals on the RBP are much better for the CPU and the same for the GPU. Running an average game I never go above 84c on the RBP where other gaming laptops it's common to see above 90c.

the thermals are amazing, except when you leave it sitting on your bed still powered on by mistake, with no ventilation for the fans. Then it shuts off and you get a RAID failed warning on the bios screen. Fortunately that has not happened since and RAID worked just fine after the laptop was rebooted again. But yes, GPU temps are crazy low for such a thin laptop.

not sure, but from what I tested, the 1080 in my RBP will do +190 on the core and +300 on the memory before it crashes in a benchmark. Temps never went above 75C and I scored the same as a desktop 1080 FE. Razer undervolted this gpu. There is plenty of thermal headroom for us to play with if they would allow us to add more voltage. I am very impressed!

That is actually pretty amazing . But could definitely be that you guys got better chips in the lottery.
The RBP my friend got can't go beyond 1936 MHz even at 1.093V. Temps stay in the low 80s, with ambient of 22C.

thanks for sharing, i keep my CPU undervolted at -145mv to help with temps as well. Also, I use an app called CAM (camwebapp) to track thermals and FPS when gaming, it has an overclock option and looks like you can adjust the voltage with it, but haven't attempted to do so.

pascal can't operate and oc properly at such high temp, you would need 50 or below for normal operation, and 20 or below ideally to get max oc

it scales all the way to ln2 even on stock voltage, temperature is the new meta for ocing this gen

Even on top of an AC with the bottom cover off, it doesn't cross 1984. Just plain unstable. With the AC the max temp was at 38C.

After undervolting the RBP CPU @ -.120 and overclocking the GPU to 150/300 I am seeing some incredible temps. Right now I am able to run CS:GO @ 1440p, 120fps without the fans coming on at all as the cpu is close to 60c. I configured the laptop display to disabled and it seems to work best for gaming on an external monitor. Once I disconnect the external monitor it automatically enables the built-in display. Works like a charm!

sounds like that your friend lost the lottery hard, my amp 1080 can't sustain 2025mhz, max is 2012 with temp below 60 (conducto + modded fans)

hmm, can you configure the laptop display to be disabled by default when booting up by chance if an HDMI cable is plugged in? Reason i'm asking is b/c i have an HP Envy 34 ultrawide with HDMI-in, and I cannot get it to play nice with my Blade Pro, the HDMI just won't play nice, also tried using a USBC HDMI adapter (rated for 4k 60hz). I had this problem with my Titan GT80 where it would work only if I booted up and disabled the built-in display then the monitor would work. Would love to be able to use my ultrawide all-in-one with my Blade Pro every now and then.

Oh yeah. My Strix can do 2051 at max. The Hybrid Ftw can sustain 2214 @ 1.8x V. (Or 2177 @ 1.093)

The Strix he had in his desktop though could barely do 2012.

Only thing he's whining about in his RBP is the high CPU temps .

Does the HP Envy 34 have DisplayPort? I'm using a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter to connect to a 1440p monitor, displayport is required to get 120+hz.

Ok I tried hdmi to my external monitor and at first it wouldn't display until I selected hdmi input from the monitors OSD. It always boots up on the built in display and switches to the external monitor once windows is loaded.

Hey guys - thinking of upgrading to the RB Pro from my current 14" RB with 970m. Couple of quick questions - been following the thread closely for a while now, and have seen the multiple driver issues that have caused problems. Does that seem to have been resolved at this point? When a new mahcine ships, are the drivers updated or do you still need to do so upon receipt? Don't want to drop this kind of cash on a machine just to get stuck in the wonderful RMA cycle

The original driver worked fine for me, just updated to the latest driver update via Razer support site and haven't noticed any changes, everything is working well and I can get about 19,500 graphics score in Firestrike with no oc, and over 20,000 with oc.

You are right, just re-ran with afterburner off and got a 18,933 graphics score with gsync on. Other results were with OC 177/244, don't remember the settings for second oc, both w/ gsync on..

Not that it matters too much, but j wonder when we will get official drivers ? I don't want to rely on razer for updates, I like having all the beta releases nvidia does for each game release.

A 6700K is a desktop CPU, much different than the 6700HQ that comes in the Razer Blade Pro 2016. The 6700K is about 50% faster.
