I've had my Edge since May and I just now noticed it. It couldn't have been there more than a week or so. Did you send it in to Razer?

I think that i am going to wait and see if there will be a new model with a few months from now. If only the keyboard dock actually worked well.....

This thing is awesome for traveling. Sitting in the phoenix airport getting a few games in of nba 2k and some state of decay while i wait for my plane. I just need to remember an hdmi cable next time, i could have hooked it up to a 55" tv in my room last nite...

Hey guys!
So I've been working towards buying a Razer Edge Pro for months and finally saved up enough money to order one via Price Matching Microsoft Store at BestBuy.. Waited impatiently for about 8 days and when it finally showed up I was excited as heck.. I got it home and went through the Windows setup and instantly wanted to try out Steam.. Pressed the Steam shortcut.. And aftet entering my credentials, the tablet just shut off. When I booted it back up it shut off again, let it sit for a minute and was able to log in to the tablet and decided maybe it was a fluke or a driver issue, so I updated the drivers via windows update and launched steam (didn't launch any games though). Long story short (sorta), it seemed like there was no more issue so I downloaded World of Warcraft and also the FFXIV benchmark.. But then I started having mega frustrations.
When I launched the FFXIV benchmark it seemed to work fine, but I had the settings turned waaaay down, shadows turned off etc, at 1366x768 res.. My benchmark score was only 1200. I ran it again and the tablet shut off. Tried out World of Warcraft and was havin a lot of Framerate issues.. Constant spikin between 15-90 fps, even after lowering most of the settings to low everything (character models at high though).. Then the tablet randomly shut off. Messing around with it over a couple more hours on an off.. Lots of the tablet turning off on it's own right after logging into a wow character.. And it also kept shutting off during the FFXIV benchmark.. I was wondering of anyone has had similar experiences? I'm really depressed over this and hoping this is absolutely not typical..
Has anyone else had the tablet shut off so often? I should also mention that the it was not overly hot at all when it would shut off - maybe a little warm to the touch in the back but definitely not hot. I was wondering if anyone could post their typical wow framerate in town and in the world and on what settings.. And also I was hoping someone could run the FFXIV benchmark and let me know what their Edge Pro scores on it? One of the original reasons I was interested in the tablet was I saw someone post on reddit that theirs scored in the 4400 range, I was hoping someone could run it and tell me if their experience is similar or if the guy was blowing smoke?
I returned my tablet today and am waiting on them to ship me a replacement, and I am absolutely hoping for a better experience.. But if anyone could run the benchmark and let me know what they score, I'd appreciate it so much - I am going to be waiting for at least a week for my replacement, but I don't want tp be eagerly waiting for it to come and then be disappointed again when I get it, so I was mostly hoping for benchmark scores to soften the blow in case the Edge Pro can't handle it.. Thanks for your time! -
I've done a search. and can't find a direct answer as to how one gets into the Razer Edge's (Pro) BIOS.
One says to hit the F1 Key on attached keyboard, another says to hold the Home Button, while hitting the Power Button, until it turns Green, then release, and finally, one adds to the last one, by hitting the Volume Button, Up or Down, after the green light comes on, none of which seems to work for me. All of these only gets me to the Password screen.
So what is the TRUE proper way to get into the Edge's BIOS?
Finally, there is very little info on the net about any real technical details of the Edge, when it comes to replacing the memory, SSD, and the WiFi card. Just some minor quick video's on U-Tube. This also appears to be the only forum for the Razer Edge. I would think that there would be many others. -

I tried forcing the nvidia gpu and the onboard one.. Same result though.. I really am hoping it was defective, because not even 5 minutes into using it resulted in a shutdown. If it happens with the next one I will try upgrading to Windows 8.1 and see if it helps

Im not sure what the benchmark score of FFXIV is, but i do play FFXIV on my razer edge Pro, and can confirm its plays well. Im currently playing under high laptops settings, which has most settings at high level etc.
-
At present i play alot PC games released in the last few years on high settings without problems, e.g. Dead Island, Dishonoured, FFXIV, The secret world etc.
Hopefully your replacement won't have any problems -
I am bummed out about the lack of batteries and build quality of the keyboard as i was gonna get them for my son and his new edge pro. -

At last, I can finally get in. Thank you.
The other methods posted here on this forum doesn't seem to work. -

Having issues with updating my nvidia driver. I keep getting tabtip32.exe errors if I install the automatic nvidia updater and/or driver version 332.21. Does anyone know which version for windows 8.1 that I can upgrade to without causing error messages?

I want to weigh in on what an awesome device the Edge is, especially when you have the proper peripherals with it.
Like most of you, I was disappointed with the price of the peripherals, the short battery life, etc. However I made an investment of a few accessories to go with it, instead of buying Razer's crap, and a few things cleared up the shortcomings nicely:
Microsoft Wedge Mobile keyboard
This is a GREAT small bluetooth keyboard. The bluetooth keeps that USB port open for an external USB drive or the Xbox controller. And the best part is the keyboard cover folds in half to make an adjustable stand for the Edge. So you can change the angle of the Edge to accommodate whatever situation you're in, unlike the Razer docking port or the Razer keyboard.
HP Bluetooth Mouse
Small, bluetooth, works really well, highly portable optical mouse.
FlexArmor Razer Edge Carrying Case
There aren't a lot of cases for the Edge, originally I wanted the keyboard until I couldn't find one. This one is nice because it folds around the Edge, and it has a small pocket on the front. Not big enough to hold the power cord, but the Wedge keyboard fits in the main pocket along with the Edge, and the bluetooth mouse fits into the front pocket. So for quick use, you can set up the Edge with a stand, keyboard and mouse. It's great for a quick run to Starbucks or something when you don't really want to play games, just have a laptop alternative where you can run programs and surf the web, etc.
Power Inverter
This thing was awesome for my recent 3 hour flight. Plugs right into the DC power outlet between the plane seat. Plugged my Edge into the socket and my IPhone into the USB port on the inverter. Who needs an extended battery when you can just plug in and forget your power concerns?
Controller - For now I'm using an XBox 360 wired controller but I'm checking into using a Dual Shock 4 because its a great controller and you can connect via Bluetooth. So you save space by not toting a big cable around like with the 360.
Hard Drive - I have a 1 TB USB 3.0 hard drive that I store all my media on, a ton of movies and music. Plus I use SteamMover to move games over to it when I'm not using 'em.
I also have a Razer docking station for the HDMI out and extra USB ports.
What are you guys using to outfit your Edge?ronaldheld likes this. -
Great Post Bobby.
Im currently using the k810 logitech for my bluetooth keyboard and the Logitech T630 bluetooth mouse, both quite good and have built in Lithium batteries, though i wish the keybaord had a stand like the wedge.
For my Controller im presently using my Playstation 4 controller, works great, they are also working on mouse support from the touchpad too (still in works).
I have 2 64gb flash dirves, but thinking of buying a 1TB 2.5 inch drive soon.
I have a standard case (forgot brand) that i bought from ebay thats fits it well and has a zipper section for usb leads and flash drives.
Finally i also have the Razer dock and gamepad for the Razer Edge too -

Here's my setup:
2x Razer docks (1 in family room hooked to 55 inch and another on my desk)
2x Razer chargers
Razer Edge Gamepad
Razer extended battery (installed permanently in my gamepad)
Logitech K810 (probably the best bluetooth keyboard that I've ever used)
Generic sleeve (thick but secures the Edge pretty well)
Razer Sabertooth controller
Razer Orochi (I usually travel with this one when I take the Edge on the road)
Logitech G602 (very good wireless mouse but uses a USB port)
Razer keyboard dock (ughhh)
Out of everything that I've bought to compliment my Edge, the keyboard dock is probably my only regret. I've only had it a month and I can't even remember the last time I used it. -
DS4 To XInput Wrapper
This will have all the directions, put just to give a quick tutorial:
Download software, installed new drivers, then but DS4 controller into find mode and connect to your tablet via bluetooth (the standard way). From there open up the program that came with the download, which will allow you to use the DS4 controller like a 360 one.
Afterwoods, all you will need to do is turn the DS4 controller on and run that program.BobbyColtrane likes this. -

Today my dock stopped working. The second I plug it in the Razer edge turns off completely. And needs a full reboot. Everything else including Nvidia Card is working fine.
I've been playing Far Cry 3 and loving it with the controller but the battery doesn't last long enough. I need an extended battery but the Razerstore are sold out.
Can someone sell me a battery? -
Do not buy a usb 3.0 to hdmi. The drivers mess with the intel hd drivers. My games wouldn't run on NVidia after installing and had to do a full re-installing of windows to get rid of the damn thing

If you do not have the equipment or if you do not know how make just ask for help to a computer store near you. For approximately 50£ it will be able to help you. -
As a status update to my prior keyboard dock issues, I did end up returning it to razer. I was going to get an exchange but I got a call from their support saying a replacement would be no better, and that people just have to "get used to it", that the keys have to be hit firmly dead center "by design". I'm sorry, but no, they don't. I've used numerous compact and portable keyboards with both chicklet and normal style keys since about 1998, and not one has performed as poorly as this one overall. There is no excuse for it. Whichever engineer told them this performance was to be expected and acceptable for a $200 product was completely full of it. Razer kindly offered a refund and I'm taking it, because at this point I can't see myself carrying it anywhere. I need a functional keyboard, and I found a better case for trucking the dock and keyboard, clumsy as it may be.
It's for reasons like this I don't see them releasing another Edge. They don't seem care about the product, and without proper accessories or much smaller design, you're better off just getting a laptop.
I saw someone mention dock problems. My dock is acting up too now, occasionally the USB bus will overload and not function until I reboot after I plug the tablet in. This is with nothing plugged into the usb ports, so it's not a device problem. Note that USB bus power problems could be what is causing the tablet to shut off if you are having that problem. Also the rubber on the bottom is falling off.
After this experience and past ones I really don't feel like razer has any respect or pride in their products or customers. As cool as I think their concepts are, I'm done buying their products unless there is a major turnabout in manufacturing, design, and QA.Auxilla likes this. -
between my razer blade pro, blade 14, and edge pro (and alienware x51 with 670GTX) I still end up playing far more pc games with my Edge Pro. Not docked (thanks for the amazon heads up for my second Edge for my son) using HDMI but with the controller dock. It seems silly as the edge controller dock isn't the best controller in the world (takes getting used to having your hands so far apart and its heavy), i'm just so immersed sitting with it in my cozy lap with my legs up in my recliner, playing splinter cell blacklist...
I will say I don't play online FPS games with the Edge Pro as I know I'd get destroyed by KB/Mouse kids, but it really is an enjoyable experience. In need of an extra battery BTW if anyone sees one available online.
I think Titanfall was meant to be played with the Razer Edge Pro.
By the way, I even got a pair of Sony HMZ-T3 virtual headset, still had more fun using the Edge. Until Oculus Rift comes out in final form and the 640m will play the newest games at a decent 768p resolution, i'm content.
As for the Edge Pro refresh... who knows. I wrote in my advice about creating an 8-10 inch android tablet with edge pro like docking capabilities. with Razer's relationship with NVIDIA, why not put the Tegra K1 on it and allow for 64bit gaming as well as streaming from PCs like the Nvidia Shield? are you Razer guys reading this suggestion? Its a good oneAlso, give me a free extended battery for my Edge Pro.

Yea I stopped playing competitive shooters on my Edge too. The screen is too small and those games are meant to be played with a keyboard anyway. I've been using my Edge to play mostly 3rd person games like Tomb Raider and Hitman and it delivers on those kinds of games perfectly. It's crazy because I built a monster desktop and yet I spend most of my time playing PC games on the Edge. Can't wait to pickup Titanfall on Xbone and PC!

I figure I'll ask here, since there seems to be active discussion about the edge.
I have an edge gamepad that had a number of issues. While I fixed most of them, one still persists. The analog sticks don't ease at all. When you move them, there's no response until they hit X%, and which point they just jump to said X%. It's incredibly annoying.
When I was looking at it opened up, everything appeared to be moving correctly, and it briefly worked as expected until falling back into the problem.
edit:
I feel like I should also ask if anyone else's screen becomes unresponsive at times. I bought this thing used, and I know the previous owner ed up the 8.1 upgrade, as I had to reinstall a few drivers. Is it a known issue with a known fix? -

Hey guys,
I want to replace the WiFi card on my Razer Edge Pro. I know people recommend the 6235AN-HMWWB that has dual-band Wireless N.
However, would anyone happen to know if this card would work on the Edge?
Amazon.com: Intel Network 7260.HMWG WiFi Wireless-AC 7260 H/T Dual Band 2x2 AC+Bluetooth HMC: Computers & Accessories
It has dual band Wireless AC, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 with Smart Ready. If this would work, then it would be truly awesome. -

Some picture of my Edge "operation" before replacement of the 480 Go SSD, 16Go DDR3 RAM, new wifi card, and new thermal paste.
Currently with some modifitations like unplug LEDs, replacement of thermal pasta, active lubrication of the fan, physical unplug wireless card and optimization settings I can play 4 hours with a game like bioschock infinite (medium settings).
The next operation will be the replacement of the battery by another with better capacity.

especially curious about the larger battery, link to the materials used to increase capacity? I have a 480gb Mata on the way.

Man razer needs to know this, or have replacement back covers lol.
So, basically the back cover will warp if you play something intense for 4+hrs with gamepad.
