OMG!! $987.99 on Amazon, REALLY!?!?!? i just bought mine before Christmas for $1399 and now they changed the price that fast? geeezzz...now I think I may have been better off with a surface pro 2...can't even find a third party accessories for a cheap and better choice...and can't even connect a powerbank for longer use...
anyway, has anyone here tried installing a mac os x?? seen it with a surface pro and it looks cool...

The regular prices on the accessories are:

    Docking Station - $100
    Keyboard Dock - $200
    Controller - $250

They are pretty rarely in stock anywhere, but when they come in on Amazon or even through Razer you can get them for those prices. So I wouldn't overpay unless it was like $20 or something and you really wanted it now. That $1k on Amazon is just some seller being stupid knowing they aren't in stock much.

And do not buy the keyboard dock. It does make the tablet more productive. But the price out weighs it's usefulness.

Given that the price is shipped and sold by Amazon.com itself as the seller, I highly doubt they are being stupid lol.

Best Buy also has some items such as the Docking Station and the Controller. I bought the controller from there.

I just started playing DOTA 2 and even with the graphics all jacked to high, I notice the gameplay screen to be pixilated while the menus are all crisp. Any suggestions?

    Thx

No idea. Looks perfectly clear on either my tablet or when I use HDMI. With the native resolution on the Edge Pro it runs smooth with 50+ FPS maxed, and with my 1080p monitor it runs 40+ FPS with full render and everything high but specular lighting/bloom and ambient occlusion turned off. When I overclocked 100Mhz on the GPU and VRAM I get about 10FPS increase.

The conversation had recently been about accessories, someone posted that the dock was currently $1k on the page before (a few posts up from mine), and my whole post was about accessory pricing. Didn't make myself look like a d-bad cuz you can't take a joking post after you did make yourself look foolish trying to be smart replying to me. Ironic given your username.

There are docking stations for sale on eBay, but the prices are jacked up to $499+.

Anyone know it there will be a 2nd generation of the Razer Edge and Pro?

Is the Razer Edge and Pro upgradable when it comes to the memory and SSD, and if so, what is the maximum memory that it will take? Are the CPU's soldered in?

Are the Edge and Pro models the same when it comes to the Nvidia graphics?

Update: Well I just ordered myself a Pro w/256 GB SSD from Amazon for $987.99

1: Everyone was hoping a Haswell Edge would be announced at CES. Now, it's anyones guess as to when/if a gen 2 model will be released.

    2. SSD and ram can both be upgraded. I believe the ram limit is 16gb and the cpu is soldered.

    3. The difference between the nvidia graphics is that the lower model has only 1gb of vram while the Pro model has 2gb.

Should we assume there will be no update for the Edge or Pro, or at least until Razer has some competition? Or are they waiting for me to buy one?

When it comes to performance, the 4th generation cpu's (Haswell) have really no real big advantage that's worth dumping your 3rd Generation system for. Something like a 10%, at best. With power efficiency, there's a 25% battery life improvement over Ivy Bridge, but doing heavy gaming on the Edge, you would only gain, what maybe 15 minutes on battery?

As for Nvidia, their lower end 700 series graphics chips are nothing more than remarked 600's, w/perhaps a tweak of the clock speeds. It's only the upper end cards that are new, w/the Titan core.

A better screen, but the price for that will be it's need for more power.

At the moment, the Razer Edge has no competition.

While the Razer Edge and Pro can be found someplace in the market place, w/prices coming down. The accessories, on the other hand, are hard to find, and when found, prices are jacked up.

At this point I'm still really tempted. I feel like if Razer planned on updating the Edge, CES would have been the place to do it. The price cut either means a refresh is coming soon, or support is going away IMO, since its true that even a year later there is no real competition... I'm finding it hard to pull the trigger.

A system w/the Haswell cpu, w/the built in Iris Pro 5200 GPU may be the better way to go for Razer, for a system under $1000, for a low end gaming tablet, when it comes to Windows 8+. It would be a lot more energy efficient than anything running w/a Nvidia GPU, also allowing for a much higher resolution display to be used.

Then there's Nvidia’s new upcoming 64-bit Tegra 6, which will either run Android, or Surface 2+.

Yep it's either one or the other. We are either close to seeing a redesign or the Edge is EOL. It's a shame that it's literally impossible to find the accessories (unless you are willing to pay a huge markup lol)

I would personally like a a better screen but as you mentioned, that would require more GPU power. As it stands, I'm totally satisfied with my Edge. At native resolution, I'm still able to pull in acceptable framerates without overclocking. The only thing that blows is the keyboard dock and I've totally given up on trying to get used to that thing. Luckily, I have a few other computers to use so it doesn't bother me much.

Honestly right now I am considering waiting for a Tegra K1 equipped tablet as a possible replacement for my Razer purchase. The benchmarks so far have been more than impressive, beating out all other mobile sockets as well as Intel's Haswell HD (non-iris, not sure how iris performs). This includes packing a CPU on par with Sandy Bridge. 3 year old mid-range laptop GPU sounds pretty impressive for a mobile chipset.

Of course then you lose Windows and PC gaming on a tablet... Which is why everyone is here, haha. But I thought it was pretty cool. I'm sad Windows legacy isn't ARM compatible. That said if Steam OS really starts taking off there should be an increase in Linux ready games.

Are the prices going down because of a perceived EOL or the actual thing? Does Razer need to do an upgrade if there is no near term competition? I am contemplating buying at the reduced prices but have concerms,

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I found someone w/Razer Docking Stations in stock for just $139.00. I just placed an order. Hopefully it's for real.

    HIDevolution.com

On eBay, the docking stations are selling for as much as $499, while on Amazon, someone has one for $999.

UPDATE: It turned out to be a no go. :( The website said that they had them in stock, but after three (3) days upon placing my order, and not hearing about it being shipped, I called, and it turns out that they didn't have them in stock. They had them on back order, w/no specific date when they were to come in. I went and cancelled my order. They are still showing them to be in stock. They do have the keyboard in stock, but have jacked up the price to $299, from the $199 listed.

What sort of RAM do I need to upgrade?

I understand one slot is easily accessible, and the other requires fooling around with the mobo, which i don't want to do. So on the 8 GB model, is it two 4 GB sticks? If so, can I remove the accessible one and replace with a 8 GB, for a total of 12? I see most people just upgrade to 10, why?

    Thanks in advance.

    They're probably upgrading the 4GB non-Pro version, which is only 4GB, so 2+8 = 10.

As for type of RAM, I'm not sure. Normally you want to pair identical sticks, but if you're going with a 4GB and 8GB stick I'm not sure how that effects things.

    Hey

Just to let anyone who uses an xbox 360 or ps3 controller on their razer edge, the PS4 controller works perfect on the razer edge (with the 3rd party drivers), and i can confirm that it connects through the Razer edge's bluetooth (unlike my PS3 controller, where i needed a different bluetooth dongle).

After seeing the reviews for the keyboard dock and sitting down with the Razer with another session of gaming I've come to the conclusion that the Razer just isn't for me. My eyes are just way too bad to be playing on a 10" screen :) I've listed it on Ebay with controller, dock, and extended battery. I wanted to thank everyone in this forum for being an active community surrounding such a unique device. The market is definitely waking up to the idea of a gaming tablet and the edge shows that it can work. Even though I showed displeasure at times, I still have few regrets purchasing the Razer; it's such a cool device that has so many good ideas wrapped up with it. I like the idea of a central modular device that transforms it's function as you attach different peripherals.

I picked up a MSI GS70 and while it's a slick laptop, I'm contemplating returning it and just building a gaming desktop for the first time in like, 7 years. I'm gonna stick an EGPU onto my Precision M6400 and see if it does anything for the performance (for the lulz) and go from there. If it doesn't, well, at least I have a sweet video card to build a system around.

I'm watching the mobile APU development with building excitement and if AMD can promise to deliver on MANLE we may see similar tablets like the Edge running BF4 at native 30-40 fps at decent resolutions.

    Anyways, kudos to this community.

I don't know what happened to my last message but Razer has a coupon for 50% off everything on the site and 10% off of the Blade systems. The codes won't work until another 5 hours but here is the link to sign up for a code.

I don't think Iris Pro 5200 would be their best option, as the TDP is around 47w. In comparison the Edge Pro has a TDP of only around 34w (17w CPU and 17w GPU + other parts). The Iris 5200 performance looks to be around 15-20% improved vs the default 640M LE (although OC'd it gets about a 20-25%% boost and I doubt you can manually OC the Iris graphics). So overall I doubt it'd be worth it...worse battery life and marginal, if any, overall performance increase if you consider overclocking the current Edge.

I almost sold my m11x but the edge with the keyboard dock sucks big time. I'm actually becoming less productive because I can't type nearly as fast or it's incredibly frustrating to do the most simple tasks. I end up using my note 3 like a tablet with a foldable bluetooth keyboard. My m11x has 800 gb HD as well so more games on the go. Too bad they discontinued the model.

I haven't seen any other tablets with the 5200 and I believe that's because it needs a 28W processor. If you are looking to get something with a 5200, you will have to move up to something a little bigger than the Edge.

I was messing around earlier and I noticed that my logitech k810 sits almost perfectly over the keyboard portion of the dock. If I had access to another 2nd keyboard dock and a lot of time on my hands, I would try to see if I could remove the Razer keyboard area and implant the k810 in it's place.

That would be straight up nasty! (In a good way)

It's too bad Razer couldn't just crowdsource the f***ing keyboard dock to the fans and customers who purchased the Edge and as Razer did in the first place. They could have just asked Zagg to make a Profolio for the Razer like they do for the iPad and it'd have been smaller, lighter, thinner, multicolor backlighiting, and more. Sad.

So far the M handled everything I've thrown at it just fine. Handles AC4 like a champ, FF14 without issues, League and Dota are no problems and Bioshock Infinite is smooth as butter. The screen size is more comfortable for me to view (yeah, I've got old-man eyes) but man do I miss the portability of the Razer. I'm actually contemplating returning the MSI. The build quality is top notch but the mouse pad is annoying the crap out of me. It automatically disabled the touchpad if you plug in a USB mouse and the laptop can get quite warm when under load. The reason I'm thinking of returning it is that I've been using it hooked up to a 28" witha mouse and keyboard and the lid closed, basically a desktop replacement; like I was using the precision 6400 before I upgraded. That's why I'm going to see if an eGPU will make any kind of difference with the Dell or just build a sff gaming desktop. Either way, the desktop is happening. It's just a matter of trimming my current toys.

I have a 11" case logic I've been using with the razer that stores the razer, my nook (cause I can), a bluetooth keyboard, a bluetooth mouse and power cord. And the whole shebang weighs less than a macbook. I'm seriously gonna miss it.

Can you adapt to the keyboard dock for PC gaming? If not what about with logitech k810 and a mouse? I am close to deciding whether to get the Edge or forget about it.

Broke down and bought a razor edge for my kid too. The amazon deal was too good. Also bought a controller dock for $99 off eBay, the right trigger wasn't working. Guess who just fixed the right trigger?

Seems obvious a new edge is still on tap, just look at the webpage and there are just two empty slots under systems waiting to be filled. Would like an extra battery though.

Dam I wish I saw that broken gamepad as I would have swiped it in a second just to have a spare....

Has anyone had a problem with the top right area near the heat vent warping? The vent on mine has warped and I assume that it's due to the excessive heat being put out when gaming. I don't know when it happened but I just noticed it today.

im definitely selling mine. i use my actual PC a whole lot more for gaming and its just not that good for college use. I was really banking on the keyboard dock making it more suitable but when i sent my broken one back someone called me and said hed been testing it for hours on different devices and not seen the same problem as me, so i opted to just have a refund because i did not want that thing back. dumb decision to get the thing on my part but the keyboard dock was just so bad and so needed

I'll just keep waitng and see if Razer puts out a new Edge Pro this year.
I really want one...but i just can't bring myself to spend the $$$ on one if their is any chance it might get an update soon.
With it always Sold Out on the Razer site, I hope it will be soon...

I also wonder what kind of update MIcrosoft will give the Surface Pro this year...

I had the same problem as you.
This happened after only two weeks of use.
