man after months of waiting I spliced my razer charger last night and got a third party external battery back !! Granted the one I got is the same price and twice the capacity but I like the fitting of the original one. I knew the moment I order an external battery pack off amazon razor would get these in stock lol
-
-
Oh man you could not have been more right.
Batteries are in stock now.
Just bought my 2.
Better hurry before they are all gone and you have to wait 6 months.

In case you're looking for more HDD space, the 1TB EVO is finally available for order. B&H has it for $615, though it won't be in for a couple weeks. There are some smaller retailers on Amazon who have it for $650.
The right second shoulder button on my gamepad got stuck again. Not a huge deal since most games don't care, but it does mean I have to send it in for repair again. :-/ Guess I'll get that out of the way now so I have it ready for PAX East.
I've had none of the warping issues described on the past few pages, and I've used my Edge for several long gaming sessions on GPU. -
I've done a bunch of research and am thinking of getting a Razer Edge pro but I have some questions I just can't find any answers too (from searching google, youtube, and these forums).
I'm planning on getting just the 256GB tablet for now, no controller, no dock or anything. I have a nice desktop, and a great gaming laptop, which I only take with me on long trips when away from my desktop. What I'm looking for is more of a replacement for my portable gaming (in bed, on couch, at work, quick trips to friends house etc). I have a 3DS and Vita and while I've enjoyed them its just not the same as playing all the games I have on my Steam library. I have TONS of older games that I bet would work great depending on my controller solution. I would love to play Skyrim and Borderlands 2 in bed or from my desk at work too. The laptop is a pain to lug to work with all accessories and not very practical in bed, or moving around the house easily and quickly for that matter.
I would prefer the Razer controller since it would all be in one piece, but using a PS4 controller would be cheaper and if it breaks its just another $50 to replace it. I'm thinking as hard as accessories are to find now they will only be worse in a year or two. KB & mouse would be fine except if i have to do that I may as well use my laptop instead. This led me to look for another alternative, and I found Overwolf's Touch Controller software. It looks awesome but there is so little info on it I cannot make an informed decision. ***edit* I just found this one too, so maybe there are even more software options out there. Lots more games with this one ( https://gameplay.gestureworks.com). The question remains, it it really useable or super clunky?****
Has anyone used it and have some feedback on it?
It is configurable or only supports the few games mentioned on the website?
Does it work for FPS good enough to enjoy? (not competitive but just single player or co-op games)
Any feedback would be appreciated. If it works acceptably it would make the system much more user friendly for me, really only having to carry the tablet in a sleeve with the charger. No mouse and KB, no controller, no stand etc. -

That's strange how some of us have the warping issues and others don't. I pretty much baby my Edge and it has no other scratches or dents on it. It would seem that if one of us has the issue, then all of us should have it. My gamepad is still holding up and thankfully, none of the buttons are sticking.
I've never used the software that you linked but keep in mind that all of the heat when gaming is pushed out of the back. You could avoid it if you have the gamepad but I would imagine that it would become very uncomfortable if you were playing a touch screen only game (especially something that is very demanding). The gamepad works great especially with the extended battery so I don't think you should go wrong if you pick that up. Speaking of the extended battery, I would suggest you pick one up now. It's been out of stock for months and who knows if this is the last shipment. It will pretty much double your playing time so it's a good investment.
Lastly, if money is an issue, consider getting the 64gb model. It's only $700 on Amazon and you can upgrade it past the 256gb pretty easily. The only thing you wouldn't be able to upgrade would be the i5. -
I bought the battery. I still hate Razer though lol.

Is there any reason NOT to go to Windows 8.1? It "seems" as though it should be fairly straight forward. I know I can add a start menu app in 8.0 but I really detest Win 8 completely and 8.1 seems to be more to my liking.
I don't want to spend days and days tweaking and installing and getting things how I want them only to have to do it all again for 8.1.
I guess what I'm asking is will I lose any restore partitions or recovery methods by doing that, since I think it is non-revertible. I can't find any sort of pre-installed program to make recovery disks with an external cd drive/usb thumb drives etc. I know about calling and asking for a recovery USB drive if needed, can you still do that for 8.1 or do they only do it for 8.0? I hate not being able to completely re-install/recover on my own if needed like in the case of a drive failure/upgrade.
Any insight would be appreciated
-
Buying the razer edge ......anyone considering selling his/hers ...hit me up -
there are still a few programs that don't get along with 8.1. I just reverted back to 8 via USB recovery from razer. The flash player for internet explorer doesn't play nice with 8.1 so even tho I use chrome, any of the apps that use internet explorer and flash, like netflix and YouTube, won't work. (Instead u just have to go to the webpage through chrome) curse client will not download with 8.1 either (u have to install wow addons the old way) I'm not sure what else won't work, but it seems a lot of game related programs have not written the correct paths for 8.1 yet.
Forgive me if I'm wrong but in the bios I "think" there is a way to write a USB recovery. I thought I saw something of the sort while reverting back. -
Well I'm sure not selling mine! I just ordered on Sunday and received it in Tuesday!
With the current pricing on amazon it may be hard to find someone willing to sell much below that, so you may be better off getting new. I know I wouldn't buy a used one for only $200-300 less than a new one, and I can't see anyone being willing to sell their 64GB non pro, for $400 or $500.

Thanks Greenbean242, that's just the kind of input I am looking for. While I would like to boot directly to desktop, and hate the tiles, I have to admit I do plan on using it in tablet mode a lot. Maybe the tiles will grow on me and I should just stick with 8.0?
I do use chrome normally, and don't use Netflix or curse. I wonder how many other games or apps don't work well in 8.1, and if they will be fixed shortly anyway?? -
The metro start does come in handy when using as a tablet, sometimes things are just so darn hard to hit with fingers on desktop. Before going to 8.1 I would check out the compatability with whatever you wanna run on it. I do like the tile layout, better options, and more games of 8.1 but I've just had too many headaches with it for now. Steam works fine so u should have no issues there. Photoshop elements runs fine. WoW works minus curse. Had issues installing wildstar beta on 8.1. That's about all I run on my edge atm
-
I'm getting frustrated already. I'm having so many issues that I don't even know where to start.
It seems although every steam game I've tried (except baldurs gate enhanced ed) isn't working properly. Borderlands 2 starts and runs but every time it auto detects settings and I have to reset them all (it is using the NVidia card). Skyrim has worked a couple times, but most of the time it also auto detects settings an cannot even set proper resolution (I will try to force the NVidia card and see if it helps-*nope*). Legend of grimrock wont even start. Never had any issues like these on my MSI GT60 that also uses hybrid gpu's.
On top of all that I've had some strange issues like I went into airplane mode at work (turned off wifi) but when I got home I tried turning it on and off and no matter what it always said wifi off. I tried disabling and re-enabling the adapter and that didn't work, so finally hit the troubleshooter which told me the wifi was off (no sh*t!) and it was able to turn it back on.
Also the latest (non-8.1) NVidia drivers from Razer downloads) started to unzip and mid way it says its a "Non 7z archive". I know I can get the latest from Nvidia but I was trying to get a stable, most up to date from Razer before I started messing with anything.
Also a couple of the other drivers didn't work and I noticed both dolby and conexant on the win 8.1 downloads were the same file, same name and same size. Obviously I hadn't used those yet but I wasted plenty of time downloading it multiple times trying to figure out what I was doing wrong (which was nothing lol)
I'm going crazy with all these issues that I don't normally have with a brand new machine! Is it just me? Windows 8? Will doing all the windows updates fix these issues? I haven't activated because I wasn't sure if I was going to re-install or go to 8.1 anyway and don't want to waste an activation (have other MS products that I cannot use anymore due to activation limits). -
Definitely update windows, the auto updates should also update ur intel driver, I've tried updating through the nvidia site and due to agreement between nvidia and razer you have to wait til razer puts it on there site, so only use razer site to upgrade nvidia. It might take a few times of trying to download from razer before it actually downloads, keep trying
I never had issues with the auto detect settings and I've never put it on airplane mode so can't help with those issues. Borderlands 2 works fine and I don't play skyrim. Are you using the razer launcher? If not it may help, idk, never used it. -

That wifi issue may just be a Windows 8 bug. I've experienced the same issue on both my SP2 and Edge. The only remedy I've found is to just reboot the machine. Luckily, it doesn't happen to me very often. -
Thanks guys. The game problem ended up being the gestureworks app. Once I shut down the process (didn't even know it was running, no icon on taskbar or anything) they all worked good. I will still need to figure out how to make it work better but I'm glad that it's not a computer or OS issue.
I redownloaded the drivers that weren't working, and even on the 2nd try one of them didn't work, but on the third try I got it too. Not sure why the files were only downloading partially, its not like there was any error and the web page didn't even list the file size so I had no way to double check. I did notice when I grabbed them they were really slow the other night, like dial up slow. I stopped and restarted them a ton of times trying to figure out why they were going to take hours for something that should take minutes. This was all done on my desktop PC, and I verified that it wasn't the computer, just the razer site. -
Which razer edge did you end up getting ??

256 from amazon

If anyone is still in the market, Microsoft dropped the price of the 128gb to $899.
Buy Razer Edge Touchscreen Gaming Tablet - Microsoft Store -
Darn I just bought the 256 on amazon yesterday. Could have saved 220 bucks for 128 on MS website.
Another bummer is that I bought a used-like new gamepad from Amazon Warehouse for full price just because they have been so hard to get, and now I see you can get on MS website, but ONLY if you add it to your tablet order so I can't even return my used one for a brand new model. I hope the one from Amazon gives me no issue. I had to overpay for the extended battery as well. Thie price investment is giving me some buyers remorse before I even received it yet. Second guessing myself that I should have went the a Sager NP 8225-S. Hopefully when I get my hands on it I will have a change of heart -
[UPDATE: It looks like the EFI shell is just higher up on the boot order than the Windows boot loader - I am not sure if this is normal behavior, so I'm still curious about the experiences of others. Perhaps this is just an idiosyncrasy of the recovery media? I can get into Windows by just manually selecting a different boot order (F10 on boot). I have permanently moved Windows up the boot order in the BIOS (F1 on boot), but am worried that the EFI shell is supposed to be doing something, as it seems unlikely that the recovery media changed anything in the BIOS]
Has anyone else tried installing an EVO 1tb in their Razer Edge Pro? I just got the ssd, but am having trouble getting my edge to see it. After using the recovery media I am dumped into the EFI Shell where it appears that no sata drive is found: "sata(0,0,0)". The drive shows up in the BIOS though.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare this drive for booting? Never really had this kind of trouble upgrading a drive before. Probably done this 100+ times, but only Win 2k, XP, 7, Linux, osX - never Windows 8, and this is the first time I have ever actually encountered the EFI shell.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
I'd seriously consider one of these if it weren't for the shockingly bad keyboard... Massive shame, still looks like a very cool tablet.

Wow all this time and I never knew that Microsoft had gamepads in stock. It's strange that they don't sell them separately. Either way, enjoy your Edge and I hope the gamepad has no problems. -
Why does everyone hate the keyboard so much? I was able to get off of Razer's site 3 weeks ago when they where in stock for about 5 minutes. Besides from the odd attachment and support of the tablet, The keyboard works great and as expected. I've had many android tablets in the past and have had there keyboard docking stations. I will say this keyboard is no worse or better then those. The only issue with mine is one of the USB ports sometimes doesn't always work. -
I didn't know that the keyboard had any ports. How many, and are they USB 2.0 or 3.0?
-
2 usb 2.0 ports. I don't have a problem either with my keyboard dock but i think it's the way i type as i have broken a few keyboards because of how hard i type.
-
Even more irritating is that on the MS Canada sit you can buy it separately.
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
My main dislike for the keyboard is that the keys are too small and sometimes my key presses don't register. It works if I need to type something in a pinch but I would never type out an essay on it. I'll be giving it a workout this weekend with the Titanfall beta. I hope the Edge can run it.
-
I agree on the keyboard side. I would never write a essay on it either, However it does do a good job for what it's intended for. I also use the keyboard for various games and honeslty it really does work well when the controller is not an option. With all the options the Edge presents, It's a fantastic piece of hardware if you have the pieces for it. Alone, It's not very good. It's just unfortunate it's premium costs. Hopefully that didn't hurt sales too bad, As I really wanted this product to successful. If anything so other companies out there would start making there own "true" gaming tablets.
-
I was going off all the posts I'd read on this thread. Seemed the general consensus was its a massive disappointment, especially for the price ($200?!?!). Still love the tablet though. Really want one, just need a good keyboard and the other stand in options I've seen being used aren't what I'm after.
Also interested to hear how people are finding Titanfall runs on it. -
I can totally understand how a nice keyboard stand, or integrated into a case could be an issue. I didn't go that route (although i may get the dock IF i can ever find it in stock anywhere). I didn't even get the controller. While I'm sure its great, I know they don't last forever, sticks wearout and buttons break. If I used a controller I would use something like a PS4 so if it broke I could just go grab another one.
I went more of the tablet route, yes I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard for when I really need it, or for certain games. But I primarily plan to use it as a tablet, and am fiddling with gestureworks for gaming. I have a shoulder "laptop" style case and I can't believe how tiny of a setup I have thats portable. Case, tablet, mouse, pad, keyboard, ac adapter, usb ethernet, usb hub, usb mem stick all in this 10.1" netbook case with room to spare. And it plays games excellent, even played a few less demanding ones on the intel and they worked fine too. I won't even need to pack a separate laptop bag anymore, I will throw this in my main bag with my clothes when I head out of town. -
I'm not sure what the overall expectations where regarding the keyboard dock, But in my opinion it does what's expected and intended without issue. Even the Edge itself has suffered from many poor reviews over the course of it's current lifespan. When it comes to the expectations of what most sites/reviewers seem to hold for the Edge and it's accessories such as the keyboard all seem to be very unrealistic. People need to keep in mind the type of hardware we are dealing with. This thing is NOT an iPad, Nexus or a gaming laptop. It is a hybrid that takes into account both positives and negatives from both worlds. Regarding the keyboard, My only real drawback to it is the $200 prices tag. It is VERY overpriced for what it is and with that brings the value of the product way down. I think a lot of people have huge expectations for something when they spend $200, Especially on a keyboard. However for being a one of a kind product I suppose the price tag is well within reason for those who can afford it. I use the keyboard dock daily and really like it. It has good response/performance and functions well enough to complete my various tasks at hand.

Hey guys,
I am looking at jumping on the Microsoft deal, as I got 5% off Microsoft store bring it down to 849.99 for the i7 Edge Pro, was wondering as the dock seems gone unless you want to fork over 399 on ebay. Wouldn't this work for the edge.

and the add this.
Amazon.com : Eurekka® Portable Fold Up Stand Apple iPad, Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire, and Other Tablets : Touch Screen Tablet Computer Stands : Electronics
Let me know what your guys think, I have a Razer Blade 2012 and love it, but may be selling it and downgrading to the Razer Edge Pro, as I mainly play LoL and TF no major high end game.
Thanks, -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
From what I understand, those USB 3.0 docks totally bypass the GPU in the computer. Basically, games either won't run or will run with very poor performance compared to using the HDMi dock. Looking at the reviews for the Toshiba, most people say that it's mostly for business use and not for gaming. I know it's tough but if you can, try to find a dock. Maybe Razer will release more just like they did with the batteries. -
I am awaiting your report to see how the tablet and keyborad dock works.
-
installing the titanfall beta for my edge pro right now. will probably get pwned by mouse and keyboard people, they need a dedicated gamepad lobby
-
pleased to report titanfall handles like a dream on the edge pro. graphics card more than capable of running it on high/medium settings. will tweak it more later tonight. only problem is have to enable nvidia card as default for all apps in nvidia settings or it will run off the intel integrated gfx.
-
Can you tell us how smooth it runs? In medium configuration?
-
Can you tell us hoe smooyh it runs? In medium config?
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I'm getting an average of 35 FPS on medium/high settings. It fluctuates depending on what's going on. For the most part, it's pretty smooth and I'm having an absolute blast. I would imagine that the final version will run even better.
Thanks for the tip on enabling the nvidia card. Before that, I was getting poor FPS and artifacts like crazy! -
Hey guys, I was wondering if the graphics drivers on the razer edge pro has any updates? If so where can I get it? And if I updated the nvidia driver will it effect the intel hd drivers ? I don't know why my edge is stuttering when playing some graphics intense games, they played fine on my old razer edge pro 128 model, but the 256 model stutter.
Do I have to update something? Like direct x?
Thank for reading and any reply would help out. -
Hay Guys,
I have the same problem as Rtot23
I'm having an issue that hopefully you guys can help me with. I recently purchased my Razer Edge Pro along with the Gamepad controller about two weeks ago. Everything was going fine and working perfectly for several days and then I noticed the game controller would sporadically drop its connectivity while in game. When this would happen I unlatched the attachment popped the Edge out popped it back in and I was good to go. This happened several times until one day (after it dropped connectivity) it completely lost all responsiveness and buttons did not light up. (With the exception of back panel light). I haven't heard of anyone having this particular problem with their gamepad. Under the device manager I have noticed an unknown device which I assume is the gamepad. Ive tried to "update driver software" but windows cannot locate locate them. Ive even uninstalled this unknown device but as soon as I try to connect the edge back into the gamepad accessory it returns as unknown device. Any help or suggestion you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. -
Hi,
I have the same problem. You have solved It?
Thank you. -
Razer Edge Gamepad Firmware Updater_v1.00.12 v4, this is the solution, it will make the gamepad recognised again.

And to avoid the gamepad disconnect during games install xbox360 gamepad driver for win7 64, mine has not disconnect since i installed it.

Hey,
If anyone is selling their Razer Edge Docking Station, I would be glad to buy it from them! I am needing to connect it to multiple monitors, for work.
