12.11 Beta3 finally here

It would've been AWESOME if it worked. I would much prefer to use OverDrive than Afterburner.

 

i have use now this 8.15.10.2761 and now i cant start ccc it says: catalyst control center cannot be started.There are currently no settings that can be configured.
i used driver sweper and fusion to remove previous drivers. wat os wrong?

 

Yeah, I've tried it a ton of times, won't work. Hopefully someone figures out how to do with EM machines though, because no matter what I try I can't get afterburner working properly.

 

why then i instal ccc i get fail on AMD Display Driver 9.010.8.0000 ?

i managed somehow to instal ccc , but occured another problem cant run anymore any game geting error of direct 3d... this driver instalation is really anoyng...

 

Did you install the AMD drivers before or after the Intel drivers?

my impressions.

I did three days of tweaking and benchmarking and was able to get 838/1080 stable and score 15700 gpu vantage with my 6990m.

I did not want to change drivers, but i did anyways just for the heck of it. well my vantage went up 50 pointsbut more importantly my stable and i mean stable overclock went up to 848/1090 giving me a vantage score of 16026 and on top of that smashed my own world record fo r3dmark11. for benchmarking I can overclock much higher butits not stable for a hour or so and will artifact after a half hour but it is still fun seeing what this card can do.

my opinion... amd finally did it right andI hope they continue in this direction!!

 

Can someone pleeeeeease post a how- to on getting Catalyst Control Center to work on the p150em ???
Everything installs ok, and the drivers even work when I try SWTOR, but for some reason the Control Center reports " Catalyst Control Center hos application has stopped working" when I try to open it......

 

hm, what version of afterburner are u guys using? in order for it to work on newer versions than 2.2.0 ull manually have to add these two files here into the afterburner installation folder:

For some reason afterburner just stopped working for me after fully cleaning my drivers and installing 12.11. Oc'ing was perfectly working on my official clevo 12.9 drivers with 2.2.3, I checked registry and file folders, everything is still there, it just won't recognise my card anymore.. always 0-0 clocks

edit: fixed it, my cfg file was moved to the wrong directory for some reason, it was in the profiles folder and should be in the main directory. Only thing that doesn't work now is the monitoring graphs

 

So yeah....my bf3 utilization is still between 40-60%.

 

You did it wrong then somewhere. Just uninstall everything, install the latest Intel first, reboot, and then install te 11.3 B3 and reboot. It should run fine.

Out of interest, are you recording when the utilization is low?

 

I had HWINFO64 recording a graph.

 

Try a few mins without recording a graph, but leave Afterburner open. You can see the gpu utilization too, but it has perhaps no influence on the gameplay. Don't know if HWINFO has, but I know other recording programs have an impact.

just tryed a game and i can see 0 perfomace increase .. anyine playing men of war assault squad multiplayer? it lags a lot with these drivers same enduro problem.

 

I believe Men of War: Assault Squad is a DX9 title, and the DX9 Enduro fixes are not implemented in the 12.11 beta 3. Those fixes will be implemented in a soon to come driver.

I have seen more recent releases, but since they aren't on the Intel website, I would not touch them quite yet.

 

I wouldn't feel comfortable helping someone inexperienced since this is a beta and not as stable as it should be. You should wait for the commercial release bud.

Its not that much better for me and was a huge pain in the azz to get working properly. Certain programs cause windows to crash.

I must note that I have seen a >10% increase in 3DMark06, a DirectX 9 benchmark, which puts my score at the levels observed with Enduro-disabled laptops. Perhaps the fix is only partially implemented? As we know, benchmarks are so critical to our gaming enjoyment that they should be the first applications to be fixed.

Sarcasm aside, the 3DMark06 increases should be a harbinger of the final driver's improvements.

I cant be happier about all this new and exiting route, i was confident these drivers would fix most issues, and they sure seem to be a great improvement.

too tired to try and install them right now, been playing borderlands 2 all day on my old 12.8, lol

guess fron now on we will only be speaking about the sky high limits of our cards, and not complaining eternally about its driver support.

It seems 1060/1560 is the highest we can overclock without overvolt and the cards able to do this are golden cards

 

Any idea when the official drivers come out with the DX9 fix?

 

November when the 12.11 WHQL (non-beta) is out.

 

AMD said the one with DX9 fixes would come soon. I would bet you 12.11 will be revised and reposted, like how Beta4 was posted as a revision.

 

AMD doesn't do monthly WHQL, so it is possible have to wait til December for an official driver. It doesn't matter I don't think, the only difference between WHQL and beta is just MS lab. I think the 12.11 beta5 will have the fix.

 

I really hope so. I'm happy with the performence but I'm back with the stock driver since all these BSOD are so lame.

lol I wish it were the end of the eternal complaining, but now people are raging over bsods because they downloaded a BETA driver lmao. hopefully the naysayers will be silenced with the final driver release.

 

That shouldn't be a beta, they said that they will release a working driver by the end of october. But they didn't.

 

Yeah, that was to be expected, but its jut normal new driver behavior, and poor installation/configuration. Driver update is like advanced math problems sometimes, some have the gift of solving them and some do not.
To be fair 12.10 IS official, just no one is testing it, lol
I truily think they released 12.11 beta to keep us busy and happy (most of us at least).

all together its great news, no matter if new fixes come in november or not.

I can't tell if you are serious or just being facetious.........................regardless this driver is awesome and has definitely done a lot to redeem AMD's performance, hopefully in another month or so we will have a fully optimized final release.

 

It "works" amazingly, especially compared to all previous drivers. Did people expect them to churn out a perfect driver without a beta first? They have to test it to work the bugs out. Aside from not being able to use afterburner, I have zero issues with 12.11. Not only has it fixed under-utilization, but it has improved performance by around 20% on games that weren't even affected by enduro. It's a win in by book

What exactly is 12.10, anyway? Just another old driver with broken enduro? Did they fix anything substantial with it?

oh here we go again, AMD defense team assemble! ;P.

whilst this driver is definitely a step in the right direction, anyone who says it has fixed under utilization either hasnt checked properly or is telling porkies out of fanboyish loyalty to AMD. Under utilization is still there just less noticeable due to increased performance and the fact that AMD have broken the utilization graph in afterburner.
Its true that this is a beta, so I will hold off passing any judgement until proper release - but to say that this card is now on par with 7970m without enduro is a bit of a strech - I played on my friends AW m17x r4 with 7970m minus enduro and once again his fps was still more stable on larger BF3 maps.

 

It's definitely improved the card under-utilising but certainly has not fixed the problem. I have been monitoring with HWiNFO64 and found that despite improved framerates across the board, the under-utilisation is present in a number of games. BF3 especially, 64 player Gulf of Oman averages at about 50-60% with a somewhat choppy framerate still. Again, I am grateful for the general improved framerates but I do hope they fix this problem completely in future releases so that I can have my card perform to its full potential like the 680m can.

Edit: I reported the problem to them with their feedback form so hopefully they continue to investigate under-utilisation in dx11 titles..

Definitely. People can still check utilization throught HWinfo64. you can wathc a graph of utilisation and pretty much everything else, but still run kombustor before it, it doesant get the temps but wake the card up so you can see it in HW info .
However the performance in most maps is much more stable and better , large maps like gulf of oman or karkand still howers around 60% ussage even on ultra.

 

Well that certainly sux. I guess we will see with the couple of next patches if the issue truly is "fully" fixable. They did say the card could be made to operate with only 1-5% fps loss, so that's really what we should expect.
