Is anyone else having crappy performance in guild wars 2 still? Im getting 20~60% utilization with these drivers..
-
So, I know you're supposed to do as clean of an install as possible for best results, however I have not been having problems with my AMD7970 like others have, so I figured I would make a backup image and first try a more 'normal' approach and just install on top with the 12.11 update without going through any hoops.
My 3DMark has gone from a consistent ~5750 to ~6470 on all stock settings! That's %12!!!

Edit: In Battlefield 3 combat, 64 players spamming like crazy in Metro, 1920x1200 all ultra, I have gone from 30-45 FPS in BF3 to 45-65FPS in combat! Out of combat in small empty rooms from 80FPS to 120FPS.
Oh, and a 72:8 k/d game that I joined halfway finished already*bulletspam*

I'm having an issue running 3DMark11.
Giving another try, now i'm getting this error:

Someone managed to install catalyst 12.11 beta3 or beta4 on windows 8?
-
yep,no problem whatsoever (beta 3)
have an HM machine tho
like so:
uninstalled old driver, rebooted into safe mode (dunno if necessary), ran driver sweeper/driver fusion, rebooted with driver signature enforcement disabled (dunno if necessary), installed new driver, done!

I have stock Intel drivers from the disk. Should I update it to the newest drivers?
-
the driver fix under-utliliation for my games except battlefield 3. Although its a lot better compared to older drivers, on multiplayer maps , where it a lot of fight occurs (heli , air planes, tanks) it dips from 40 to 15 fps or sometimes less. When I installed this driver , I made sure that no files leftover from previous catalyst. My temp reach 95 C when I play bf3 or some other games. I also repasted with IC7 , however, I have yet not done any "improving coooling " as users suggested on this forum. So my question, is everybody having the same issue on bf3 when there is a lot of fight ?. my setting on bf3 is ultra , maxed out.

this new driver, for some reason, has reduced my skyrim to simple teal colored blocks.
EDIT: and a reinstall of skyrim fixed it -
Hi for everyone who have problem with switchable graphics menu in new CCC, I solve this problem (staying with old CCC from stock driver from Clevo):
1. Uninstall everything AMD driver and Intel driver.
2. In safe mode, run Driver Fusion, mark AMD and Intel graphic driver, clean, run CCleaner until you get no resoults in registry clean.
3. Reboot.
4. Install stock driver from clevo.
5. Reboot.
6. Install newest Intel driver (9.17.10.2867)
7. Reboot
8. Now your CCC doesn't work at all, no worries.
9. Unpack AMD driver 12.11b4 with 7-zip
9. Go to device manager right click on standard graphic card and press update driver, find your previous unpacked folder (\AMD_Catalyst_12.11_Beta4_dotNET4\$_OUTDIR\Packages\Drivers\) and press update.
10. Reboot.
Now you have newest AMD and Intel driver, old CCC but switchable graphics menu working.
Good luck. -
Any one having issues playing Witcher II in here? The under utilization is huge in Witcher 2. The fps dips to below 20 even in med settings. BF3 seems to be pretty stable and fluid. Crysis 2 seems to have a problem with the DX11 patch after this driver update. Lots of crashes.

So I tried to unzip the contents of the driver, then went in the windows device manager and clicked update driver (and selected the folder that i unziped).
After that, i ran the installation file again and installed only CCC... -
Have you tried installing the new 12.10 CAP1? Also if your on beta3 try beta 4. -

The links posted by prasad, the OP, were my source and I believe I have the latest of each. -
The only issue i have with this driver...i can't go into hibernate.
Once i select hibernate it takes me back to the login screen, and no matter how many times i select hibernate it does the same thing. I don't know if there is a setting i can turn on or not, because CCC is abysmal when it comes to options and true configuration. -
so this new drivers fix utilization problem?
-
-
Interesting.
I had the original driver/ccc from Sager installed along with the Intel driver already on the Win 8 system. I literally just ran the setup from the Beta 3 and then Beta 4 straight out from then on and had no issues.
Been running it for a while now that way. Now, I am not using Afterburner or anything so I don't know if that is helping. No BSODs though and performance/utilization has improved. -
There is new official AMD 7970M driver in Clevo website for Clevo P150EM for Win 8. If someone is interested.
-
Holy crap fantomasz, you are back! Did you end up upgrading to the GTX 680m or did you keep the 7970m? By the way, 12.11 gets about half way towards the goal of completely eradicating the utilization issue, and on top of that, we get a bit of the new performance enhancements introduced for all GCN cards. The HD 7870 went up almost 1000 points and the HD 7970m went up nearly 700 points with 12.11 over stock/launch drivers. Alienware/HM/P370EM owners with the 7970m are especially happy right now, as they have no utilization issues plus the new 12.11 GCN enhancements.
I remember Chris at tomshardware saying that AMD told him the utilization issue can be completely solved with driver support. We aren't quite there yet, and it will take some time. -
-
Obviously older, they wouldn't do a final driver based on a beta one
-
I'm looking for A10-4600M tests with this driver to see if worth to install or not? Is 7660G GCN Radeon?
-
1. make sure you install driver fusion and make clean after un-installtion.
2. follow these steps later
how to properly uninstall ATI/AMD Software Drivers for Graphics Cards. -
I am loving the performance boost with this beta release. But every time I shut the computer fully down, I get about 3 BSOD's before it registers it got wrecked and I can boot up into windows with no problems. Especially problematic, maybe 6 reboots, when I install new software. Everything is up to date, I tried the enable HPET option through the cmd. Can't seem to find out how or where to get the option to work it through the BIOS. Maybe you can't with this system.
But anyway. Keep on slugging with it till they release the official drivers I guess, probably do the ole' reinstall windows gag. -
Using 12.11 is like rolling BSOD dice. Some will get no BSODs, others will get many.
-
-
Am I the only one who is holding off on the drivers until an official release? I just can't imagine why people are ok with waiting THIS long for a fix, and getting BSOD's like crazy. Fact is the issue is not resolved until their is an official RELIABLE fix......
-
I don't think people were initially waiting for a quick fix, and besides, there isn't much more we can do but wait (or spend more money to get 680M, which I at least am unwilling to do). -
You're probably about to get flamed by overzealous Amd defenders for being so uber negative about amd's amazing progress; but I think a lot of people are happy to ignore instability when they get a taste of what a current generation card should be performing like.

Doing a battery drain after shutting down or restarting (admittedly a pain), seems to alleviate all BSODs for me. It's not a huge deal for me, since I don't restart or move my laptop very often. Anyone else want to give this a try?

The beta 4 driver seems to work pretty well under Windows 8 Pro with my config...
AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3720QM Processor,CLEVO P170EM score: P7656 3DMarks
I'd say that pn some tests the frame rates were a tad higher. I just can't wait till ATi get there fingers out with the utilisation... It's like they designed something that they don't understand how to program! -
For the BSOD i really hope they fix them for the real driver. But for the beta i don't really care since we manage find a fix. ( 0 bsod in 1 week now ) -
1. Shut down computer
2. Unplug everything
3. Remove battery
4. Hold down power button for 30 seconds
5. Replace battery
6. Plug everything back in
7. Restart -
