lmao there's no point in debating any of this with you. I wasn't even disagreeing with you in anything other than the fact that you seem to call everyone that has a different opinion than you a fanboy, then you started making ridiculous, inane arguments against me by insinuating I denied that there was any remaining under-utilization with the 7970m and that I'm "upset" because you don't like the 7970m. I try make a point and you turn it around with petty insults and change the subject to other members.
no, I'm not upset, I do however think there's a valid reason you're constantly engaged in silly arguments with forum members... it's not because they're fanboys, it's because you're a d*ck lol. later man.

Oh and BTW in a way I was right, there was never an issue with Enduro. Enduro worked awesome right from the start. Glad AMD has finally optimized drivers for the GCN core and finally found the problem between Intel sending instructions to AMD GPU. Good stuff.
Hey arcticjoe, I'm an AMD Fanboy and an advise from an AMD Fanboy? AMD sucks, their drivers sucks. Yeah AMD are terrible. Sure they should have had this issue ironed out before releasing product, and darn it, they still haven't solved it. Man, you should just go green. Nvidia wants your $800-900. They want it so bad, they even may come out with another 680MX to get the 680M owners to upgrade and get MORE MONEY! -

i'm so happy our amd overlords saved us from the pesky intel problems lol
THANX AMD! WE LOVE U!!!1!
Sincerely,
AMD fanbois of NBR -
for teh record, in the last 600 or so posts i have only called someone a fanboy 3 or 4 times - one was hulawafu (100% bonafide amd fanboy), one cloudfire (nvidia fanboy) and then someone else i cant remember. i dont think i've ever called you a fanboy and we seem to disagree a lot, though you have definitely called me an nvidia fanboy yourself, so dont be a hypocrite man - when an argument gets a little heated we all do it.

Oh BTW, Afterburner just starts for me now. I don't need to run anything before to "prime" it anymore. This is a pleasant surprise.
FYI to others, a new Afterburner version 2.3.0 has been finished and been submitted to MSI for approval. So hopefully that will come out soon. -
Be wary of ANYONE who is trying to work that hard to make you believe their interpretation of the truth. -

I just did a search here on the forums to see if I may have called anyone an nvidia fanboy while suffering some brief but extreme insanity or temporary amnesia, and there were no results lol. I believe you have me confused with someone else. -

Been waiting on this for a while. Currently in the progress of uninstalling my old drivers... which have been causing me a few problems. hopefully I won't have too much difficulty installing the new drivers, though. It's just
express uninstall AMD CCC -> reboot into Safe Mode -> driver sweeper -> install 12.11 beta4? -
Well, I'm glad to see there is a driver that's helping. Anyone want to test out civ 5 for me? I can't justify spending an extra $200 for the 680m.
-
Fully admit I need to drop it already. It was just extremely frustrating as one of the first receivers of the 7970m, I was trying to warn people and actions from him completely mislead new perspective buyers.... very poor taste considering at the time he didn't even have the machine.
With all that said I will finally let this issue go lol. -

Huh... whenever I try to open CCC, it says
The application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see that application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail -
I've gotten the driver to work on my laptop but it still ends up bugging out BF3 multiplayer. everything else works fine. Why, I have no idea. But - I'm done dealign with it for now. Hopefully soon they will have the official driver out or maybe dice will have some form of update - who knows. -
My bad guys.
Max Payne 3 is running well with new drivers.
With MSAA turned off, i got almost 60 fps average.
This game is heavily affected by MSAA. Look this comparison: http://www.hardocp.com/images/articles/1339406167huP5qqtm9S_4_4_l.gif -

Enabling MSAA on a 15" 1080p monitor is pretty much asking for worse performance with no visual change.

FXAA seems implemented well. Zoom in on that image, and you will see that FXAA undeniably does a decent job without over blurring textures. A side effect is some cloudiness but it may be due to the lighting color difference between both screenshots. -
Hi all!!
I installed beta 3 properly yesterday and missed out on beta 4. If I install beta 4, should I clear out the beta 3 drivers? or just uncheck everything except display drivers in the install window??
And I'm happy with the improvements with our cards.. =) I hope you all are too

Hey guys, I need some help.
I've alredy followed king's walkthrough on how to install the driver, but I can't get it to work.
First, the driver sweeper is leaving 3 files, tried deleting them manually and just wasn't possible.
I've tried all the steps twice, deleted registry files manually but I just keep getting the error: The INF file was not found.
Dunno whatelse I can do.
Alredy instaled CCleaner, Wise Registry Cleaner, Revo Uninstaller, Driver Cleaner. Driver Sweeper AND ATIMAN'S. (Driver Fusion never started to work due some crazy problem)
After SEVERAL registry clean tries, still gets the damn INF MISSING error.
Dunno whatelse to do, don't want to format C: :'( -
In what part of the process are you seeing the error? Driver Fusion will not delete all of the files, so just go on with installing 12.11 and the Intel driver and see if it works.
I was thinking a bit about the recent 12.11 driver and I hypothesized how it may have came about in the fashion it did. When AMD was looking into what was causing issues with the 7970m, they found some thing that was severely hindering performance, and that the alleviation of the bug would improve performance across the board. I was hypothesizing that the research and fixing of this bug in the mobile series may have inspired and led to the performance improvements found for GCN as a whole in 12.11. It just feels cool to think that our outcry for a fix for Enduro may have led to AMD creating 12.11, a driver that everyone is excited about, from desktop users to mobile users. Maybe, if it weren't for the 7970m having such horrible performance losses in the first place, AMD would have never discovered some of the hidden performance in GCN as a whole. -
After you choose Express Installation, it goes out to a screen that says: detecting hardware and stuff, there's when the MISSING INF FILE error show's up.
Alredy tried to install, did the whole deleting stuff manually again, but I'm still getting this damn INF error. -
-
Don't think so, but I'm alredy downloading a new one from a mirror, lets try out =))

If you really need to uninstall and nuke any previous past drivers, then do this.
All download links are the OFFICIAL links direct from the developers.

1). Go to Programs and Features and do express uninstall of AMD Catalyst. Then uninstall your Intel drivers. Don't reboot.
2). Run ATiMan Uninstaller. Select A for Automatic. ATiMan Uninstaller will restart/reboot by itself.
3). At reboot, ATiMan Uninstaller will continue, press C for continue.
4). Once you are at desktop and ATiMan finished, run Driver Fusion. Analyze and Delete for both Intel Graphics and AMD Graphics.
5). Run CCleaner registry. Run it until it finds nothing.
6). Reboot
7). Install Intel Drivers. Reboot.
8). Install AMD drivers. Reboot.
If you want to run Afterburner.
1). Regedit. Look for EnableULPS_NA. Change 1 to 0.

Well, glad we've got all the bs bickering out of our systems. I am going to preface this post by saying that I am happy with the new driver. However, there are still under-utilisation issues present in dx 10 and 11 titles, and my question, not opinion is; do you think AMD will continue to optimise the driver for the titles that still suffer? I was just playing AC Revelations and am not able to hit 60 FPS whilst looking over the city. This is a fact. It is also a fact that my brother's 580m can max this game no problem and achieve 60 FPS. The driver is not completely working 100% and I don't expect it to be as it is still in beta form. However, do you think AMD will continue to improve performance in titles that are not up to scratch or do you think they will rest on their laurels considering the way they handled the whole situation? Wanting honest answers here and am not looking to start any sort of flame war. I just know I want my card to perform at peak performance for all titles, like it does in non-Enduro configs, taking into account the 1-5% under-utilisation that AMD have told us to expect.
-
I feel like AMD is in high gear right now, so I am not particularly worried. These are exciting times for GCN drivers, and I can tell that the driver team is excited. If we stop seeing progress at any point, all we have to do is ask AMD about it and continue to report the issues we are having.

Things are much better, but there is always something that can be improved further
Don´t know if I've posted this here, but we can report problems using this form: AMD Issue Reporting Form for AMD Catalyst -

To be fair this driver increased a lot of DX9 games performance, my 3dmark06 score went up by 3k points so there must be some improvements that affect DX9 as well.. And under utilization is still very much present in DX10/11 games, its just less noticeable as you get more fps. When you compare it to a 7970m without enduro then the difference is really visible.
-
It started with the 12.9 beta
-
-
When 12.11 was released i installed the newest intel driver (2867) and then the 12.11 beta3. Worked very well for a couple of hours (Dirt 3 72 fps compared to 51 fps with 12.9 beta), after that i started getting bsod's.
Then i followed these steps:
1. Completely uninstall previous AMD driver (using "Uninstall Software" in the Windows Control Panel)
2. Completely uninstall previous Intel HD Graphics driver
3. Reboot
4. Go to Windows Safe Mode and remove AMD driver remnants with "Driver Sweeper"
5. Reboot
6. Install the current Intel HD Graphics driver
7. Reboot
8. Install the new AMD driver (Catalyst 12.11 Beta)
Everything is fine now (no more bsod's), but the utilization is dramatic now. The same dirt 3 benchmark averaged 31! fps and every other game (fifa 13, nba 2k13) is stuttering. I disablad powerplay, changed every setting to high performance, but nothing changes. What am I doing wrong?

anyone else getting blue screens of death with this driver?
-
I am using it on Windows 8 with no issues so far.
Seems to be a bit smoother in the games I have played, but have not had time yet to validate anything.
No crashing or blue screens. -
i think i figure out what it was...downloading 12.11 beta 4 without downloading 12.10 cap 1 was causing me problems. everything looks sick in CCC now!!! im excited

The first day the beta was out, I got 4 BSODs while trying to apply overclocks to my 7970 in afterburner. I reinstalled afterburner and quit messing with it, and everything has been fine and stable. That is, until today. I tried booting Max Payne 3 up, and each time I did it the game froze. This happened about 3 times, so I restarted the computer and almost immediately got a BSOD. Windows kept crashing, but eventually I was able to start in safe mode and uninstall afterburner to see if that was the cause. Since then, I haven't had more BSODs but Max Payne 3 still freezes up every time I try playing it. The game was working absolutely fine before today. Performance on every game has improved substantially. Has anyone else had problems with Max Payne? Any possible solutions? I installed the beta using this clean install method instead of driver sweeper: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/4/4/guide-how-to-completely-uninstall-amd-graphics-drivers.aspx
Thanks guys
edit: Well, MP3 is working fine again lol. I can't wait for the final driver release. 12.11 performance is incredible, but stability sucks. -
-
I got through 3 days of no BSODs, and then today, every other time that I have restarted I have had a BSOD about 30 seconds after entering the desktop. I don't understand how this could suddenly start happening. I didn't change any thing. All I have been doing is playing games, surfing the web and doing school work.
Well, it seems apparent that this beta driver isn't completely stable. -
