try hiding the taskbar and putting a solid white backround on the whole screen and see if the darkness is there
-
I have the lplf600...i do have the dark bottom corners issue but it´s only slightly noticeable on the left one...i am very happy with the glossy coating as it isn´t very reflective as most of the glossy panels around. For me the max brightness of this panel is more than enough, just wish it had more contrast. As for the graininess issue, i find it only noticeable if you stick your nose on the screen. Only thing that bugs me is some uneven backlighting: on a dark screen i can slightly see a lighter vertical strip on the left hand side that ocupies a fifth of it. The viewing angles could def be better but they´re not that bad.

I have a Dell XPS M1730 here with a LPL0032 and it is MAGNIFICENT. Even better than the screen on the Sager. Brighter and more vibrant. They're both great screens but this one is the best I've seen. -
^^ exactly my point about them using different model screens in these systems.. its almost unfair in a way to the ones who get the lesser grade panels , it sucks imo some people that pay the same price get worse lcd panels than others..
-
so wait, do all new 5791's now have the lplf600? Only 5790's have the 0000? Or do different resellers carry different screens?
-
I have the 5790 and it has the lplf600... -
you get what you get.. seems they are using 3 different panels right now and you get whichever they send you
-
So anyone know where the LG LP171WE2 (1680x1050) fits in the discussion of good lcd panels?
-
And most (to all) of them have not come back for complaints about the screen. -
So uhh, I have a LPLE400 (1920x1200) in my NP5792? Doesn't seem like anyone else has this screen.
-
-
Gophn have you seen this LP171WE2 panel in person? Does the left and right viewing angles start to get a lot darker or does it maintain its brightness throughout.
-
I have, a number of people have a Clevo notebook around here with that panel... looks as good or better than mine.
Looks exactly like this, from what my buddy just told me:
Side viewing angles ( view large image)
I showed him Chaz's review to see if his panel is like that, and he says it is. -
ok sweet, one more question gophn.. if the LP171WU1 = LPLE400 then what is the equivalent LPL**** of the LP171WE2?
-
I'll PM you when I know.
In the meantime... chill.. about this LCD thing -
can anyone tell me what the equivelent of the lplf600 = ???
-
How do you check what model screen you have?
But it really doesnt matter all i know is that hte screen looks AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. Much better than my Dads Precision M90 screen. -
if using xp
1. right click my computer and hit properties
2. click hardware tab then click device manager
3. find "monitors" on the list and double click it
4. right click whatever is under monitors hit properties
5. click details tab and under scroll down box look for hardware id
should be monitor/XXXXX -

I am having a bit of a problem identifying the screen on an NP5793 I have. Under Hardware Ids in the device manager, it says "MONITOR/APP9C69". This looks nothing like what people are posting in here - what am I not doing? Thanks for any help.
-
Thats where I found my monitor ID. -

I think Everrest is identifying the screen just fine, its just that the screen is some off brand or generic type panel rather than the LG screens that most others are reporting here.
Did you happen to pay for the No Dead Pixel 30 day guarantee? I did while my friend did not we ordered only a few hours apart. My friend got a beautiful LG screen but it did have 1 dead pixel. -
-
I think $200 deserves that, and they may actually have more people paying the extra $200 that way.
I forgot what mine was ( I'm typing this on a different pc, but it was something like l0000 ), but it looks great, no dead pixels , only some uneven brightness on the lower right side when viewed from the right side, and this is only noticeable with black backgrounds ) -
Hi!
Has anybody a WSXGA+ screen with anti-glare finish? Is it as good as the WUXGA LG-s are?
I don't like the reflections, but for me it's important to have a good display. -
Welcome to the NBR forums.
There are only two kinds of notebook LCDs... matte and glossy.
The LG panels are the most used for screens with resolutions over WXGA+.
Glossy screens have a reflective coating. Colors appear sharper and more vibrant. They do however produce more glare. Some people like them, others do not. The glare problem is most acute in well lit environments, like an office. Glossy screens tend to be better for multimedia uses like viewing DVDs or photos. If you are unfamiliar with the screen types, we would highly recommend you check some of each type out before you buy. The screen is one of the more important parts on a notebook. You do not want to get stuck with something you do not like.
Each type of screen has its pluses and minuses , which is why most manufacturers give you a choice of both. Glossy screens will produce an image that generally has more color depth and vibrancy. The downside, glossy screens tend to produce more glare, light from windows and light bulbs cause reflections. And they will show off fingerprints and smudges much more readily.
Matte screens tend deal with glare better because of the polarized coating over the glass that helps diffuses ambient light. Some of the side effects of a matte finish is a more narrow viewing angle, light blurring, and reduced contrast.
Environment and personal preference will determine which is best for you. If the screen is going to be in a room that’s mostly dark, consider a glossy finish. In a controlled lower light environment it offers a best-case picture. Don’t be too afraid of a matte finish. Most people use their screens in mixed light where the minor viewing quality loss is offset by the anti-reflective benefit. -

whoops, wrong matte/glossy text
I have a mini library of texts that I reference from and post when needed.
Fixed. -
Super bright , clear and all that...

?
this thread is focused mainly on Model Numbers/Hardware Id's
Therefore one who reads this thread will have a great idea and background information regarding which LG model Panel they want to request while ordering a Sager NP5792 / NP5793 . -
they mainly use 3:
one LG model for each resolution (WXGA+, WSXGA+, WUXGA)
look it up. -

hmmm..i've got LPL0801 seems no one else has that. it looks nice enough tho.
-
wuxga? or wsxga
-
wuxga, 1920 x2000
-
Hey, if it`s bright and uniformly lid, then it`s what you need, so who cares what model it is? Just enjoy it.
-
yeah i asked the sme thing at xotic and eurocom...
-
From my understanding it is
1920x 1200 = LPLE400
1680 x 1050 = LPLE600
From other users, the LPLE400 provided ultra clear/bright quality.
Maby its the glossy screen that adds the WOW in the LCD.
I feel in the future Matte, will get fazed out. -
so hows the LPLE600
-
Trust me, if your not going to spend countless hours outside, or sit always in the sunlight in your house, 1920 res glossy screen is the way to go. -

Sager Search engine on the NBR forums.
Type it in LPLE600
"Search This Thread"
And i still do not believe that they ship only one model LG Per Resolution.
I have been reading in detail and i found that they are more then one model per resolution.
So... lets come down to the bottom of this.
Lets Rank LCD"s for the sager 5792/5793
So Far
Glossy WUXGA 1920x1200
1. LPLE400
2. ?????
Matte WSXGA+ 1680x1050
1.LPLE600
2. ??????
Correct me if i am wrong, and add some options here as i will edit and update this post.
*** Post LCD models for 5792/5793 *** -
I think they use the same model
LP171WU1 for wuxga
LP171WE2 for wsxga
however I do believe they use different revisions. I might be wrong though. -
and searching LPLE600 only produces your replies and mine. Maybe you mean LPLF600 which is still wuxga not wsxga
-
Are any of you guys noticing any problems with the LP171WU1 (1920X1200 UXGA) as far as ghosting due to the 16ms response time?
LG info on this model
http://www.lgphilips-lcd.com/homeContain/jsp/eng/prd/prd301_j_e.jsp -
I have the previous LP171WU1 revision with 25ms and 500:1 contrast... and there is no ghosting.
I have loved this panel since I have gotten it back in March 2006. I have played pretty much most of the known games and have done extensive testing.
5791 owners what model screen do you have??
