Hi guys, hope I can get some advice here... With my M57RU, I asked for an LG matte screen and got the LPL0000. But oh boy is it grainy/sparkly. I had thought LG was a good choice. Here I read the glossy version of that panel is great. Very confusing!

I'd like to ask them for a specific model #, so not to waste their time, and of course to get the best result I can. So which is the definitive best choice for matte WUXGA?

    There is no matte WUXGA.
In fact, there are no more Matte`s at all for the 579x.

Um there are, I just had one.. it just wasn't very good. AFAIK you can often get matte if you ask for it. It's not specific to the notebook, it's the panel m'fer.

Eleron there is a good chance he bought from someone other than sager ;). The phasing out of the matte is a sager thing not a clevo wide decision.

Well, true, but I have not heard of any matte WUXGA either.
I do now...however it can`t compare to the glossy,no chance in hell...

Yup, a Clevo reseller here in Australia. Matte is great if you're a graphic designer. You can't do professional graphics work and colour matching with a glossy screen. For gaming and watching vids glossy is great. But you can't use a glossy screen outside. All comes down to utility, diff tools for diff purposes. Saying they don't compare is correct, but simply because what you use em for is completely different.

I heard D900C uses the same screen as M570RU-U, yes? I just read this PCWorld article, and it says the screen was disappointing:

I guess it's just the luck of the draw?

They have the best screens installed (same as the ones on Alienware and Dell).

Did you open it up to see what the tag on the back of the display unit itself said?

That's the only way I was able to find out any info on the display in my vaio. _Sony is so pathologically secretive - I suppose they were trying to hide the fact that the screen was made by _Toshiba, not _Sony; not even the "confidential" service manual states the name of the mfr.

its weird though because in the hardware id everyone else's shows the right part number but mine says specifically lplf600? as i said according to lg they dont even make that model display nor have they ever made it?? so if in fact its evena lg it must be a different part number im guessing??? not sure why the hardware id would be wrong though and i had 2 different 5791's and both had this same display in them and imo both are very grainy btw..great color and pretty bright for a 17 single bulb but lots o sprakle both were the same way i had

Maybe a non-LG screen (perhaps leftovers?) that Clevo's not using any more? I think that the D901C specs in the service manual list one non-LG display as well.

The listing from the service manual is as follows:
The Clevo part number is: 6-50-N7270-G00

According to this webpage, the manufacturer of that display unit is a company called AU Optronics. I don't get any hits (except from this thread :D ) googling lplf600, so I can't think of who the maker of the screen might be. My vote is: crack 'er open and find out!

I kinda figured :D I was listing that one more or less as an example of a non-LG display Clevo used (of course, according to Wiki, AU Optronics is the 3rd largest maker of LCDs, so perhaps the mere fact that they're not widely known doesn't count against them).

I am having a problem with my LCD, i bought a 1440x900 glossy screen with my M571RU and its listed as model number LPL0000 but its got a grainy look to it thats starting to mess with my eyes a bit, its like someone wiped the screen with a damp cloth and it never dries or the sweaty hands on screen look. its pissing me off, is it possible i can get the screen changed because of this? and if so what is the sharpest and clearest "no ghosting/best for gaming" 1440x900 screen to use with the M571RU?
