Possibilities of the answer to this question :

    1. Yes. But you may not be happy with yours.
    2. No. Again, you may not be happy with yours.

The point is you have to frame YOUR mind to be happy with what you're getting, because as I see it NOTHING available today can satisfy you. You may now say the 9262 can, but not in two months, when you plan to buy it.

i just want to make sure that im getting the right laptop, i may just go for the 5793 for the reasons its cheaper and more portable despite the 9262 having Quad Core and SLI 8800m

Very happy, the best purchase I've made. The fact you can play all the latest games on high and will do, for at least another couple of years, is all you can expect from a gaming notebook.

The whole topic is useless. Armaghedon Ash is only 18-19 and very unsecure about the money he wans to spend. He wants toget the best bang for his buck. I had similar feelings when I bought my first computer and it was way to expensive for my income. Even the desktop PC are not so future proof. Upgrading is not always cheap. Practically any PC would need an upgrade every year or so. On the other hand there is no reason to play the game at maximum settings. In many cases you can not even see the difference.

Yes, you can use the OEM Windows DVD, it just doesn't come in the fancy plastic case. But I have used the same one.

Novatech are #1 in service, and I own their X40r (Clevo M540r) and it is outstanding. I have seen the X80r and it is even better! Great screen, the best keyboard, and again superb build quality.

    Nick.

    P.S

Been buying I.T stuff from Novatech since 2000.

Hey Alienwarez I beleive Rock do the 9262 well they got an 8800sli rig :)

and all this talk about notebooks becoming obsolete in 12 months, pure poppy****
no way, not in a zillion years,

yes new and faster (not always) technology comes out, and runs the same games at even faster speeds.

but have you all not seen the framerates you are getting from current games

UT3 which I have is hitting 70fps, and averaging at 60

we all know crysis is the odd one out, plus there are lots of things pointing to rubbish coding in that piece of software anyway.

so this time next year, games will be out that bring your fps (this is at 1920x1200 I might add) down to 40 or 50 average, and the year after that you are hitting 30fps

so at the end of 3 years you are able to run a game at 30fps at silly resolution
need more fps? lower the res, 3 years down the line I would have got another machine anyway :)
    2 year tech itch.

so come on stop it with this negative thinking about obsolescence, its not as bad as it looks

in the mean time they might even fix vista and you will get a performance boost!

    I said "might" :)

and yes, all this should I wait should I wait nonsense, just think what if you got run over by the number 42 bus?
a week before waiting for the next thing to come out?
    see?

oh and as for the processor , go for the fastest one you can afford, although dont forget to max out the ram (already done with novatech) get a fast hard disk, high res screen etc etc,

The only thing to keep in mind when using OEM versions of MS software is that you will not get any free assistance from Microsoft - under the terms of the license you'll have to look to your seller for support with any OS-related issues, or else pay Microsoft's prevailing rate for support.

i'd get the 5793, the spec Prasad007 has is probably one of the best set ups, i wouldn't bother about Blu Ray until it gets cheaper, so you could save £200 there, as it's probably upgradable later. I would go for the X80r Pro.

just wondering did you read my reply?

There will probably be faster and better Blu Ray drives later and possibly cheaper, I would save on the £200... the T9300 would be better but the £200 for Blu Ray seems quite a lot to me. If you really fancy the Blu Ray drive then by all means get that... by reading this thread it seems you are fighting with yourself, only you can decide, you want the extra stuff but you still remain indecisive and don't seem to want to pay the extra and questioning yourself, i remember replying to Prasad in the same way hehe :)

I say go get the X80r with the T8300, that's my direct answer.

just to let you all know the X80r 17" Penryn 45nm basic and pro versions are being discontinued and they will only have the BluRay versions, which is really annoying.

Shame - the lower specced units without the Blu-Ray were some of the best value notebooks around.

They still seem to have some in stock, best get your order in quick if you can.

yep grab em while you can, they are at great prices for the spec

and as for a tv tuner, if you choose the tuner option you might get a small aerial with it,
remember the internal tuner is not a default option

I agree that these young'uns don't know how good they've got it. I actually had a "portable" pc when I started university, although the more apt name for it was the "luggable":

Boy but that thing was a bear to carry around - and with all of it's 640K RAM and one 5.25" floppy, too! Oh, and did I mention the price? US$1,700 back in 1986 - roughly the equivalent of US$3,200 today (geez, I just did that calculation right now, and almost fell off my chair; I knew it was dear back then, but didn't know exactly how much).

lol shyster1, I remember those, only seeing them at computer shows, in fact I saw my first real life amiga at a computer show in denmark, its was the original a1000 launch machine , with that wicked king tut picture on the deluxe paint application..........all those colours......that resolution.....what a machine. it took me 5-6 years to get an amiga after launch! boooo!

the spectrum +3 wasnt all bad though, I could write up coursework and essays on it, and I quickly learned the escape codes to make the printer use graphical fonts and the like :)

my wordprocessor was Tasword, although I wrote my own type line to printer application for quick notes and letters :)
ahhhh those 3" amstrad floppies! :)

Ahhh, the joys of nostalgia. My very first system was an Atari 800, with (hold your breath) 48K RAM. It was actually a pretty decent system to start learning about the guts of a computer because most of the OS was easily accessible with simple PEEK and POKE instructions, and you could even get a module that had assembly on it - wrote my first assembler code to try making a dot move across the screen faster than it would under the BASIC interpreted language.

My word-processor, of course, was WordStar.

yes I remember it well, how things have moved on (I still have an atari 2600 in the loft, but thats a freebie I got about 5 years ago :) )

so to sum up, going to uni with a killer notebook, well worth it and novatech have quite a good site, they even have their own forum, just in case :)
