are you happy with your purchase?

-
1. Yes. But you may not be happy with yours.
2. No. Again, you may not be happy with yours.
The point is you have to frame YOUR mind to be happy with what you're getting, because as I see it NOTHING available today can satisfy you. You may now say the 9262 can, but not in two months, when you plan to buy it. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i just want to make sure that im getting the right laptop, i may just go for the 5793 for the reasons its cheaper and more portable despite the 9262 having Quad Core and SLI 8800m
-
-
Define right notebook. I know you can't.
-
The whole topic is useless. Armaghedon Ash is only 18-19 and very unsecure about the money he wans to spend. He wants toget the best bang for his buck. I had similar feelings when I bought my first computer and it was way to expensive for my income. Even the desktop PC are not so future proof. Upgrading is not always cheap. Practically any PC would need an upgrade every year or so. On the other hand there is no reason to play the game at maximum settings. In many cases you can not even see the difference.

if i buy Vista 32Bit how do i upgrade that to 64bit? -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
can i use this
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MS-VHP64O
asking as i dont know what OEM stands for. -
Yes, you can use the OEM Windows DVD, it just doesn't come in the fancy plastic case. But I have used the same one.
Novatech are #1 in service, and I own their X40r (Clevo M540r) and it is outstanding. I have seen the X80r and it is even better! Great screen, the best keyboard, and again superb build quality.
Nick.
P.S
Been buying I.T stuff from Novatech since 2000. -
original equipment manufacturer....
Quick question....who on earth does the 9262 in the UK, for me all i know is that novatech do the other version -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
Hey Alienwarez I beleive Rock do the 9262 well they got an 8800sli rig
and all this talk about notebooks becoming obsolete in 12 months, pure poppy****
no way, not in a zillion years,
yes new and faster (not always) technology comes out, and runs the same games at even faster speeds.
but have you all not seen the framerates you are getting from current games
UT3 which I have is hitting 70fps, and averaging at 60
we all know crysis is the odd one out, plus there are lots of things pointing to rubbish coding in that piece of software anyway.
so this time next year, games will be out that bring your fps (this is at 1920x1200 I might add) down to 40 or 50 average, and the year after that you are hitting 30fps
so at the end of 3 years you are able to run a game at 30fps at silly resolution
need more fps? lower the res, 3 years down the line I would have got another machine anyway
2 year tech itch.
so come on stop it with this negative thinking about obsolescence, its not as bad as it looks
in the mean time they might even fix vista and you will get a performance boost!
I said "might"
and yes, all this should I wait should I wait nonsense, just think what if you got run over by the number 42 bus?
a week before waiting for the next thing to come out?
see?
oh and as for the processor , go for the fastest one you can afford, although dont forget to max out the ram (already done with novatech) get a fast hard disk, high res screen etc etc, -
-
i'd get the 5793, the spec Prasad007 has is probably one of the best set ups, i wouldn't bother about Blu Ray until it gets cheaper, so you could save £200 there, as it's probably upgradable later. I would go for the X80r Pro.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
right ive decided to go for the 5793 what one would be better
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NNB-615
or
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NNB-627
the only differences are 100Mhz performance increase and the BluRay drive -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
the 100mhz will future proof it just that little bit
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
-
just wondering did you read my reply?
There will probably be faster and better Blu Ray drives later and possibly cheaper, I would save on the £200... the T9300 would be better but the £200 for Blu Ray seems quite a lot to me. If you really fancy the Blu Ray drive then by all means get that... by reading this thread it seems you are fighting with yourself, only you can decide, you want the extra stuff but you still remain indecisive and don't seem to want to pay the extra and questioning yourself, i remember replying to Prasad in the same way hehe
I say go get the X80r with the T8300, that's my direct answer. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
oh sorry didnt see your post, thanx i think i will go for the version with out the BluRay, its not 100% required anyway can get them for like £140'ish but i think ill wait and spend the money, on games and accessories
i would like to thank everyone that helped me, even if it did seem as though i was fighting all help but i am thankful, gonna order NEXT WEEK once i put my PS3 sale money in the bank -
lol I don't remember....
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
ohhh pure justice, the ps3 gets sold to pay for a notebook
enjoy your new machine -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i loved my PS3, but it had to be done for 2 reasons
1, needed the money for my laptop
2, going to uni and dont want to have to take a tv with me, with the 5793 you can get a tv tuner correct? do you need to use an extul TV arial?
going to put the money in the bank next thrusday and going to hopfully order next friday, as i need it to be when i have some itme off and i have 2 weeks off^^ -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
just to let you all know the X80r 17" Penryn 45nm basic and pro versions are being discontinued and they will only have the BluRay versions, which is really annoying.
-
Shame - the lower specced units without the Blu-Ray were some of the best value notebooks around.
They still seem to have some in stock, best get your order in quick if you can. -
I would agree!
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i cant not til next friday at the earliest><
guess i will eb getting the BluRay version after all. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
yep grab em while you can, they are at great prices for the spec
and as for a tv tuner, if you choose the tuner option you might get a small aerial with it,
remember the internal tuner is not a default option -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
if i wasnt going to Uni then i would have kept it, but as i am going to Uni i donreally want to have to take a decent sized tv and the PS3 when i can just watch TV on the Laptop and play laptop games
great machine though -
yep... fair play... TV, Gaming and work - all in one solution. Less stuff at uni. I had a desktop PC when i was at uni... never thought i would have liked a laptop, but im thinking differently now - that's why im on these forums
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on your new system! -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah i cant wait, shame i wont be able to buy for another 3-4weeks
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
man I am envious , all I had a college (didnt get to do uni was too poor) was a vic20 and a spectrum +3 with a citizen d120+ dot matrix printer (not even colour)
got my first amiga when I started working.........
you guys are sooooooo lucky! you dont even know it!
although I do idle my evenings away playing TF2 these days -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i am considereing waiting for uni as i MIGHT get a £5,000 grant to buy a computer/laptop BUT it would be up to the uni if the laptop i choose would be worth while for the course
-
Boy but that thing was a bear to carry around - and with all of it's 640K RAM and one 5.25" floppy, too! Oh, and did I mention the price? US$1,700 back in 1986 - roughly the equivalent of US$3,200 today (geez, I just did that calculation right now, and almost fell off my chair; I knew it was dear back then, but didn't know exactly how much). -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
lol shyster1, I remember those, only seeing them at computer shows, in fact I saw my first real life amiga at a computer show in denmark, its was the original a1000 launch machine , with that wicked king tut picture on the deluxe paint application..........all those colours......that resolution.....what a machine. it took me 5-6 years to get an amiga after launch! boooo!
the spectrum +3 wasnt all bad though, I could write up coursework and essays on it, and I quickly learned the escape codes to make the printer use graphical fonts and the like
my wordprocessor was Tasword, although I wrote my own type line to printer application for quick notes and letters
ahhhh those 3" amstrad floppies! -
My word-processor, of course, was WordStar. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
yes I remember it well, how things have moved on (I still have an atari 2600 in the loft, but thats a freebie I got about 5 years ago
)
so to sum up, going to uni with a killer notebook, well worth it and novatech have quite a good site, they even have their own forum, just in case
