Good question. This package probably does not come with the intel drivers.

The question is :

- Do we install catalyst 12.11 over stock driver?

- Do we download the intel driver separately, install it first and then the CCC 12.11?

- Or we should wait sager/clevo awakes from deep sleep and release a complete package (catalyst 12.11 + intel)?

Great news guys. I just tested the leaked driver. I knew what I should do right away to see an improvement immediately. F1 2011 benchmark was so heavy affected that it ran 32 fps no matter what resolution I choose or what settings.
Now I loaded the benchmark maxed out 8x aa and fps from 60-70. However msi afterburner wont let me see usage and clocks like before even with kombuster on and set to high performance.
For those trying to install it heres what I did. I came from the 12.9 bete where you had to install the intel driver first and than the amd driver, so I just uninstalled the amd and installed the new one, works no problem, except I cant see the temperature nor the clocks.

For those who have other drivers :
1, uninstall amd driver, restart. If it dindt uninstall the intel driver, uninstall that one as well.
2, Some say that driver sweeper deletes some important files, so for those ho dont wanna use driver sweeper do this :

But from my personal exmperience , I never had any problems with driver sweeper

3, check device manager and display adapters, you should have two standard vga adapters, one with an exclamation mark, If not uninstall them through device manager and restart again
4 download the intel hd driver from intel page and install it

5, install the asders 12.11 leaked driver or wait for the release that should be here any time now.

6, If you find out how to monitore ussage and clocks let my know

I didnt try any other game, jut this one to see right away if somethings fixed, and reported .
will try other games and report back.

EDIT: just tested bf 3 caspian border 64p. much much better. Put everything from low to ultra right away and didnt drop below 36 fps even in heavy gunfight and explosions. in normal combat ultra around 45 fps.!!!!!!!!! even more. On high medium no problem to maintain constant 60..

I'll take the opportunity to format my hd and install windows again. I want to make sure everything works perfectly

In the coming days I´ll test Max Payne 3 (performance was horrible) and Battlefield 3 (huge FPS drops)

No I cant, its showing 0 at core clock and memory. I would like to see also if overcocking will gain performance. Before it just led lower gpu ussage.

12.11 increased my 3dmark11 score from P5800 to P6636
but diablo 3 performance looks worse now, much more freezes, and also msi afterburner doesn't display GPU details anymore as previously stated

 

Hey guys, i must be doing something wrong... I installed the driver with a clean method as sugested by mahalsk (not installed the hd4000 driver, im keping the version 8.951.6.0, did not find a compatible new one). I am having the same !*@#ing FPS before the patch on battlefield 3 multiplayer with 64 player, but this time i cant even check the utilization... Maybe its because of the hd4000 driver? I cant change the "low, medium, high" performance from catalyst control center as before neither. Any thoughts? Any help will be apreciated. Sorry for my bad english and thanks, im really desperate to make this thing work right.

 

I'm getting 70-100 FPS now in MP3. I'm liking this 12.11 a lot.

 

NVM guys, figured out that the problem really was with the hd4000... just installed the driver hulawafu77 posted and now it works like a boss

Amazing improvement in BF3, my rough preliminary benchmark showed a 45% improvement.

I have not decided if I will run on high or ultra.

 

I run it on low, gets rid of all the idiotic bloom, lense flare and other stupidness that DICE thinks is good lighting or realistic. DICE employees must never go outside and only see through a horrible camera.

 

The lense flare is supposed to be from the glasses, to my knowledge.

 

Is utilisation going to improve with future updates? I realise this driver is quite a step up but I still only average about 85-87% utilisation in BF3 multi. I want to get all the juice outa my card.

Edit: Just played a round on Oman and utilisation was around 65%...... when are they going to actually iron out the problem properly

 

I wonder if they need to fix this issue game by game

 

I really hope that is not the case.

Edit: Also I've found v-sync doesn't work in most games I try to enable it with. Something to report to AMD, let's hope the next driver is even better than this one, especially re: utilisation in BF3.

how do you check your utilization? I thought this driver broke that capability in afterburner. also, you may have v synch on which would limit you to 60fps therefore reducing your utilization. again, awesome driver, especially for BF3 - finally it feels like I am playing on a card that is a generation up from 6970m.

 

Nope, don't have v-sync on. I'm using HWiNFO64 to monitor temps and utilisation. BF3 only hits about 80-90% most of the time. However the stable framerate for the most part is quite noticeable. It just sucks knowing it can theoretically squeeze out more performance, as there are times where the framerate really starts to dip (especially in Oman etc where it usually sits around 60%). Sleeping Dogs usually sits around 50-60% with FPS of about 40-45. Hitman sniper challenge still suffers a poor framerate, though nowhere near as bad as it was. Haven't checked utilisation for that yet. I think overall the most noticeable change is with BF3 and even then it still doesn't use the full potential of the card. An easy way to tell with this driver that your card is not being taxed to its full potential is to just listen to the GPU fan. It usually doesn't go that crazy, meaning the card isn't being pushed very hard. I am happy that we finally have a (somewhat) proper driver, however I was expecting a bit more. I don't get how Nvidia can have their card hit 97-99% the majority of the time if they both use the same sort of technology?? Am I missing something?

 

I can confirm this, played a game on gulf of oman and it was stil unplayeble . fps around 30's on what ever settings and dips down to low 20's.

 

HWiNFO64 gpu load readings are identical to Afterburner's. Just verified myself. So folks who are having issues with Afterburner with these new drivers, HWiNFO64 is a great alternative.

Launch HWiNFO64 and click on the yellow bolt sensors button.

GPU load readings are in the second to last section when scrolling down. Look for GPU Core Load.

 

On top of the still present under-utilisation, is anyone experiencing games crashing often?

 

So how are you feeling about the card now? Still want to sell it and buy a 680m like you've said in the past?

 

I'm only noticing extremely light under-utilization; it's leaps and bounds ahead of before. The lowest I have seen is 85% is BF3.
as for crashes, I was getting them earlier when trying to overclock with afterburner. I've since stopped trying and it hasn't crashed since.

 

Hmm interesting. Quite often when I open up a game, namely BF3; Max Payne 3 and a couple of others, the game will stop responding and I have to end the process. Starting to become a little bit frustrating.

yeah it actually feels like a flagship card now and not just a 10-20% improvement over previous gen offerings. I would still like to swap my laptop for something else without switchable gfx support + 680m so I can OC the LCD and get something with better speakers / soundcard. Currently only MSI provide 15.6 inch laptops that do 680m and I cant find any in UK yet, but hopefully they will become available here soon.

 

Can you try running throttlestop and untick BD PROCHOT. I tried Oman map earlier this morning with only 30-40 players and my fps was pretty stable. Lowest it hit was 30 when I was zooming through smoke, this is with an OC of 980mhz/1.5ghz.

 

Catalyst control center has stopped working........ Uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot does not work..... the Anandtech way, your way , my way...... nothing.....

Tried SWTOR anyway, and with with everything maxed at 1080p I get at least +25fps!!

I shut down the game, and try to open catlyst....... " Catalyst Control Center has stopped working"...... Is this because of old profiles or files or what the f... is this?
