Same for me. I managed to get it working on my first reboot and everything was working fine, DX11 games running better too. But now after every reboot I get BSODs on an atikmpag.sys file.
I've tried several installation methods suggested in this forum and I keep getting this BSOD when I restart.
(I'm on a Clevo P150EM)

happy to hear you're able to enjoy it now; they're off to a really good start with the new driver, and I hope they improve things further. -
Only thing I can think of is using the old catalyst with the new driver..... 12.9 Catalyst Control Center + the new driver.
Here's what I did - right or wrong:
- uninstall all amd software
- reboot
- install the new 12.11 package
- reboot
- uninstall hd 4000 drivers
- reboot
- install intel drivers
After this the 7970m drivers seem to work, but catalyst reports shutdown...... -

Update: installing both drivers in this order made no difference. The problem persists.. and is actually more prevalent. Now BF3 crashes every time when it opens. Hopefully it will be fixed in the WHQL release.

BSODs , not working CCC, not working driver12.11 confirmed on 5 laptops P150EM. All with windows 7 x64. super sad )
-
Uninstall AMD drivers via Add / Remove panel
Remove all AMD files via driver sweeper
Reboot
Update Intel driver to the latest one
Reboot
Install AMD driver
reboot
Install AMD driver again (because all 3d applications seemed to crash)
reboot. -
Talk about underutilization, for me it is no utilization. I finally got it working , tried to set a 3d profile, and the ccc crashed gain......
-
I just installed the beta drivers over my stock ones. Zero issues.
-
I have the bleeding thing up and running now. very nice results so far, but still crashing if I try to apply a new profile for SWTOR. Anyone know where the catalyst profiles are stored ?
How is it possible that the old profile is still being used, the profile from 12.8 ?? I have done cclean driver sweeper, windows fixit........ where are the profiles stored ? catalyst says I have no profiles, but when I try to make a new profile where I used to have one it tells me I have one and then it crashes..... -
Even on a clean install of windows, I got BSODs on startup. I tried various ways to install the drivers, multiple versions of the Intel drivers...the only thing that worked for me with no BSODs whatsoever, was to install the stock drivers (click on stock AMD, which will also install the Intel drivers), then install the 12.11beta on top of stock drivers WITHOUT restarting the computer between installing stock drivers and the beta drivers. Afterwards, everything works fine (however, my WEI is down to 7.2 from 7.3 prior).
-
Yesterday everything was working fine, today i turn on my computer, start to play battlefield 3, and the utilization problem is back... ?????? I dont know what to do, instaled the latest intel driver and a clean instal for the 12.11... Everything is set to high performance on CCC.
Just me having this issue? Guess i will have to wait another 3 months for a fix to the fix..... lol -
Well i missed it! So whats the best way to install this drivers?
From what i read it seems its better to just install these new beta on top of old versions??? i have er stock stock and i have 12.8. I think u have never upgraded my intel drivers.
whats the deal then?
its encouraging to read everyones findings, even if some are having some typical driver issues.. -
Stock AMD, stock Intel. Installed over. No crashes, currently playing Sleeping Dogs at 50+ FPS.

As for BF3, I understand and appreciate that the framerate is a lot better than it was, however this card is definitely capable of putting more frames out. So my question is: now that AMD have released this driver do you think they will continue to improve the under-utilisation with directx 11 titles? Or will they just let it go by the wayside? I know I want my card to run to it's full potential like the 680m does. Everyone should use HWiNFO64 to monitor utilisation and temps etc. -
Lower your AA. At "extreme" AA, I get sub-30FPS, at high, I get 45-60, and off I get 50+. I leave it on high. Also this is without the texture pack.

Will see what i do, still this is the great news we all were waiting for, i am so glad reason prevailed and bad omens crushed. AMD IS and will be improving these drivers as stated repeatedly in anandtech and other forums.
I am happier every day with my 7970M
cheers

Afterburner doesn't work correctly anymore, and I got a couple bsods while trying to apply an overclock the day before yesterday. Other than that, everything has been stable and gaming performance is WAY upI haven't had any more issues with bsods or crashing of any kind since I stopped using afterburner.

I found anothrer problem with the 12.11b4 driver With battlefield 3. Almost every time I wanna join a server, once a game is loaded bf3.exe stops working and I have to try again. Somethimes it takes 10 tryes to start the game.
Anybody having this problem ?? -

Well, I think that optimism was exaggerated.
Battlefield 3 runs much better, but other games don´t.
There was no improvement in max payne 3. Underutilisation issue remains.
With all specs maxed out, i got only 35 FPS average, with huge FPS drops (unduro-off machines with 7970m run it at 60 FPS)
L.A Noire is also experiencing underutilisation problems -
Max Payne 3 is one of the games that wasn't really affected by Enduro much to begin with. Something is wrong on your end. I was playing dx11 at near 60FPS most of the time on stock drivers. Also from what I can tell, most games that run in dx9 weren't changed with this update while dx11 games were. But then again, they also stated this in the driver update and that dx9 performance would be coming in a later driver.

I downloaded drivers before 2 days but didn't install them because of my mid term exam. But I just installed them now and Wow , huge difference in BF3 , saint row 3 and these games I tried so far. Anyway for those people saying they didnt get difference in fps , its probably because you didn't remove all ati drivers , and some of them functioned with new driver files which they carry the under-utlilization problem . Here is how to un-install driver properly:
1. install driver fusion (google it)
2. un-install ati driver, make sure its express
3. now boot in safe mode, launch driver fusion > select amd , inttel > click clean.
4 . if some files didn't clean at first try, restart and do step 3 again. if they are still some file didn't clean leave them this time .
5. now on safe mode follow these instruction from this website:
how to properly uninstall ATI/AMD Software Drivers for Graphics Cards.
6. restart windows normally.
7. install newest in driver from here ( follow instruction):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/693523-intel-hd-graphics-9-17-10-2867-a.html
8. reboot
9. go to amd site intall the latest 12.11 beta 4 (note: when cat 12.11 it had some bugs so amd pulled from their site temporarily to fix them and they posted again , so you might have the bugged driver) + install 12.10 cap 1.
10. you might experiences bsod 2-3 times just like me after installation. I noticed that in problem might be from catalyst power selection application profile , its trying too assign programs power include explorer + antivirus so it bsod. I restarted 3 times and worked flawlessly after that -

i dunno what you people are smoking but bf3 still run like crap for sure , im still getting 20fs at high ground in Sharqi Peninsula map , 7970m is officially a pos

@chuckles87
While performance is much better than before, and more consistant-close quarters maxed 60 fps all the time, also maps like caspian and vanila maps, but sharqi and gulf of oman still suffer from underutilization with dips down to 25-ish fps. However Im much more calm now that I see that its fixable and its getting better.
Keep up the good work AMD:thumbsup: -

You should not be getting 60FPS in BF3 at Ultra+4xMSAA+Max AA and AF. The 7970m is naturally not that powerful. Turn down MSAA (and especially MSAA, as that can really hinder performance), AA and AF to off/low levels and FPS should be pretty decent and an improvement over stock drivers. I didn't notice much of a visual difference, so I stay with those selections at low levels.

When I have 12.11 going, everything ultra/maxed except for blur turned down but now off - I average 50-60 fps. In intense situations the lowest fps I saw was 39!!!!! And thats from going back to my log - not just from me catching it out of the corner of my eye!

Good logging utility by AMD!:
AMD System Monitor
Why didn't we see this before? Thanks to king-dubs at rage3d for posting a screenshot revealing this. Yes, it is properly recording GPU usage!
I might start using this monitor more. It records CPU and GPU together, some thing I can't get to happen with HWiNFO64 since it doesn't display GPU usage for me.
The AMD System Monitor records CPU usage and speed per thread (8 threads), GPU usage, GPU memory/core clocks, and GPU temperatures. It appears to record a new value every second or two. -

Also, do you know if we're able to get an overlay with this tool? Doesn't seem to be an option for it. -
I don't believe there is an overlay, but I am sure Afterburner will be updated soon.
Also, check this out:
AMD Never Settle 12.11 Beta Driver Performance Testing | 3DMark11
The HD 7870 increased to P7600. What the hell! The HD 7870 was scoring 6600 to 6800 pre-12.11, and when the 7970m got bumped to 6600 with 12.11 I was all yay, HD 7870 performance! Nope, I guess the 7970m really isn't as close to the HD 7870 as I thought! I am guessing that the HD 7850 got bumped up as well. -
this latest driver increased performance across current gen AMD cards - mobile or desktop. my friends m17x with 7970m is seriously fast now... my one is still a bit behind.
-
I don't see why NBR keep thinking these mobile cards exactly the same when their desktop counterpart consume so much more power. -
I don't know if any of you guys play Minecraft, but the utilization issue in Minecraft and java is still the same. At best I only get around 30% utilization, with all settings to high, I get around 100fps, but then utilization falls below that and it becomes slow sometimes, falling under 20fps. Anybody solved this?
-
This driver only affects DX11 applications. DX9 driver coming in the future.
-
Getting really bad utilization in guild wars 2, the new 12.11 drivers fixed BF3 for me but guild wars lags like a snail , max usage is like 60% for me
...
Low settings dropped to 20% usage... -
+1 to strange white artifacts in Skyrim. They aren't that annoying though, just a little interesting.
