It's all getting pretty interesting now, saw screenshot (in other topic on this forum, in gaming and graphics) from the alienware website which stated "the" specs of the 8800M GTX. Not bad for a mobile GPU :D

Now I wonder, I have to return my notebook for dead pixel warranty somewhere next month and MAYBE I can get my reseller to replace it with a 8800M GTX barebone (if it's not too expensive).

That is: assuming the 8800M will be in by that time.
I highly doubt that in 1 month, there will be enough units to sell seperatly :(

the 8800M's launch may be on the 19th of November... but the shipping dates should be a month later... at least.

I know what you mean, but one can always hope ;) AND my reseller doesn't have to replace the GPU, because I will get a new barebone, and the new barebones will most likely have the new GPU sooner than the GPU's will be available to be sold seperately. But still, one month is probably too soon and I'm not saying the 8700M performs badly in any way. And think of it this way: if you can't get the 8800M as soon as it comes out, a few months later there will be another king GPU which will most likely fit the M570RU (or another MXMIII and above notebook) also.

nono.. we went through this already... nov 19th specs/launch, availability ---> early 2k8

as for the 8900m you are targeting, i wouldn't expect that before may or something at least, and yes, then you can wait forever.

considering how long it took for the 8800 to finally be in laptop form i would suggest that there won't be another high-end card for another year.

You are probably right Derq and I didn't want to start the discussion again, just wanted to say that it would be a nice extra if the 8800M was available when I have to return my notebook for the SECOND time for dead pixel warranty (that is quite annoying believe me and if anyone would have to send his/her notebook back 2 times for the same thing a nice extra would be.. well.. very nice ;) )

don't count on it, though a major company like dell's alienware is now pulling some interest on this one... maybe they got a sleek pre-release deal?
    na... ;)

xtopic deals directly with nvidia or thats what i've been told
its just how long till xtopic gets them, after dell, alien, sager and all the big guys

judging by the fact that sager has been silent about this one i am betting that dell got another exclusive with nvidia to release this on their systems along with alienware for a while.

if he said they will get them when released (19th) then i would have waited

Hi I have been following these forum for quite some while and find them extremely informative. As a newbie i am forced to wait till about Feb next year before i can buy and then it will most definatley be a 9261 or one of its upgrades. I see Alienware's website briefly had the 8800 series card yesterday but quickly pulled. I now see now that PCmicroworks has also announced the 8800 in sli form and delivering mid Dec. Cant wait till next year.

Since November 19th is just hours away thought it would be good to know who is going to be among the first to have the 8800m. Please put the links in this thread. Here's one.

I will be checking online tomorrow at work for the new 8800M GTX at XOTIC PC. If they have it for Sager NP9261 I am ready to order two of them ;). Plus I need to add one more Segate 160 SATA II 7200RPM so I can have more hard drive space. Please XOTIC PC have it by tomorrow :)

Interesting. Where did you hear that from?

Some of the other resellers are already expecting to ship units with 8800s in December.

It does look awesome I can't wait to some real world benchmarks. But ju st from the specs it should be 2-3 times faster. Just one more thing to keep me busy looking at.

I spoke to Ty at Sager today, he said that they are in the final stages of quality control of the 8800M GTX. He told me to call back in a few weeks about upgrading to 8800M GTX SLI. Cant wait, if the upgrade works out to be $1000 it will be worth it to me.

Anyone interested in a good deal for two or one 7950 GTX.

it means that the m1730 is going to be getting the 8800m gtx in there along with it's physics card which will make it the fastest notebook for gaming so it will be an interesting dogfight between the m17x and the m1730.
