I read into another forum that the 9800GT bios is not blocket.
I dont know if it is true?

    Here its from the german forum , transltet with google;

The bios of the 9800M GTX to be blocked, even the tension can be of 1.03 V does not raise. In various forums, the bios of the 9800M GT made of 1,05 V.

(Unfortunately at the moment is the forum of notebook review is not to reach. There are still more solution proposals and reached benchmarks.)

you only need to flash with the newer bios of the 9800m gt or 9800m gtx....

lets see a picture of your highest over clock score and specs...

One of my friends suggested me to take off a special battery on the motherboard(round one or smth, i know it is in every PC motherboard), so that can reset my settings to normal and put it back... how do you think? i just can't find this battery...

You're looking for the CMOS battery that's used to keep the nonvolatile memory ... nonvolatile. You should probably try to get a hold of the service manual, which will show you how to dismantle the notebook and where on the motherboard the CMOS battery is located, before you start rooting around in the guts of your computer.

Just to update this thread, Nvidia has released a new driver 179.28, which is a release specifically designed for 8M and 9M mobile cards. What does this mean for the 9800m GT? Well, with this release, it is now possible to forgo the bios flashing, to simply overclock this card with the Nvidia System Tools.

I just had a couple thoughts.

    1. You will need to flash the higher voltages.

    2. I wonder if the bios must be flashed at least once to "unlock" the software OC.

i completely forgot about the voltage... shoot. well i may as well leave it flashed then i guess until theres a way to adjust voltage through software.

is it bad to run the 9800gt at the factory clocks with the higher voltage? (btw what were the factory clocks...ive been OCed so long ive forgotten)

that voltage should only stay that way when running your high clock, but when it down clocks it will drop voltage as well. (speculation of course)

with Nvidia's 179.28 drivers and Ntune I am stable now at 600/960/1500.

keep an eye on your temps using hwmonitor, as long as you don't run too hot you'll be fine.
My GPU doesn't go above 74 deg without a cooler and never over 62 with my beast of a cooler.

you could also try 600/900/1500....that worked for me as well.
Or just start with your stock clocks and increase all of them a bit at a time....I just tried to keep the ratio the same. I had to try quite a few b4 I found this one thats stable for me.

Ya dunno sorry...I was told that every card and laptop config is different and differen clocks work for different units so you might just have to tinker with Ntune and see what works for you. Try something lower and see if it works like 550/850/1400 i dunno I basically just tried a whole whack of stuff till I found a few that worked for me
hope you find something that works

What are you using to confirm stability? That's a really high mem clock, and you really need to run ATiTool or Furmark for a while to scan for artifacts. I can't stress how high that memory clock is.

As an aside, congrats on being the first M860TU to reach 11,000 in 3DMark06! I'm hoping to join you when I get my T9800 in about a week or so.

probably need to flash the higher voltage first. sounds like your trying to over clock to high above the standard voltage

depends on what you mean...not all the standardize settings are going to work for everyone. meaning if you start with high quality settings first then start working around them.. the driver should work. but again...not enough info given...

With the voltage raised to 1.05v, 600/1500/900 is easily standard. Do it, or find something lower.

Wow I wish my M860TU could handle those levels.

Sorry kevinjack I've been away for awhile....I consider my clocks to be stable just cuz I don't have any issues while playing left 4 dead, far cry 2 or 3dmark 06. So far these are the only games I have installed, soon I'll have legendary and crysis, but so far everything is working great.
I have the memory clock set that high cuz I thought it was better to keep the native ratio the same. When I tried 610/945/1525 and 600/950/1500 things were a bit buggy and 3dmark or the games would sometimes crash. So far this has worked well for me, but I might go back to stock clocks as the games I have right now don't require it. My temps are however very low never going above 62 C with my cooler and never over 74 w/o.

Yes sir I built it myself. Just used 2 USB plugs for power. 10 fans (10x60x60mm) all placed under the vents of the M860TU. Got the mesh stand from walmart, it can adjust from flat to like 30 degrees.

iM building one aswell (a gethoversion of yours XD ), and i have one spare 12 V fan from my desktop. I've read that the USB outputs only gives about 5 V, would this be enough?

Do you know of any other ways of powering it?

    Thanks

Your fans might spin, but I doubt very fast. For 12V you could use the cigarette adapter in your car lol just kidding.
If the USB won't power it you could get a universal power adapter for it from walmart or best buy or somewhere. Just flip the power adapter to 12V.

Used a poweradapter @ 12V and the fan runs like a dream with a steady and hard airflow. I've placed it under my m1730 (beneath the GPU's) but the temps doesnt seam to be any lower (idle at 57 and 76 under heavy load) Doesnt seam to make any differens=( Whats the differens in temps with your cooler on/off?
