On a fresh install I got an Error about no supported Video card found, then on the next reboot a BSOD. Anyone else have this issue? Id hold off on Beta 11, Beta 8 worked fine
-
On Windows 7 I installed it right over the enduro performance driver with absolutely no issues. For me it's working just as well as the performance driver.
-
can i installed AMD Catalyst 12.11 CAP2 along with 12.11 beta 11?it will work with single gpu?
-
the changelog of beta11 actually specifically states that the cap2 should be used in conjunction with that driver since it improves single gpu perf. in far cry 3
so go right ahead buddy!

Waiting for comments about this driver. I didn't reboot since Enduro driver. Can we safely reboot this?
-
It would be interesting to know if this driver fixes the BSODs:
would this include our clevo's P150EM? they run on HM77 as far as i know...
an installation guide is missing as usual... -
Just did a fresh install of the beta 11 driver and the 12.11 cap2 profile, completly removed the beta8 drivers. I now manage to get > 30 fps (38 avg in a 1 minute fraps benchm.) in Far Cry 3. Setting: 1920x1080, DirectX 11, 4x MSAA, Max. buffered frames 1, Alpha coverage Enhanced, SSAO method: HBAO, graphics preset: Ultra.
My system: P150em, 3610qm, 7970m (12.11 beta 11), intel 4000 (driver 2875), 16 gb ram, Windows 8 Pro. I can recommend Windows 8 to everyone. Never had a BSOD with Windows 8, while with Windows 7 I had BSODs all the time. -
Tried that, got a first BSOD and afterwards CCC wouldn't work and Afterburner wouldn't give temps / clocks. Used system restore and will not touch again, the enduro release was working just fine
-
I can't reboot. When I do, system won't activate 7970M. I'm stuck with hibernation.

[Maybe A Noob Question]
Any idea if the fixes from the "Performance Driver" have been merged into this one.. Or are they both separate?
(As I saw the part about improving the DirectX 9 stuff..) -

It does on mine -
brightness control works when u are in on windows 8 pro 64bit???
-
sheldorconqueror Notebook Consultant
Yes I'm using it all the time. -
me and a friend of mine brightness dont work for us...why??
-
very good question indeed
are u also using an HM machine conqueror?

that score is sick! my highest on enduro dirvers (12.11p) is 24500 or so.
-
Is there a correct way to install the new drivers? I really had A LOT of trouble instaling the 1st 12.11beta, the first enduro ones, had to re-install windows to get it to work.
Just asking cuz I'm having some flickering/bugs with Far Cry 3, and I really want to play it :< -
Installed 12.11 beta 11 and got similar results, 23500 vantage, 22500 3dmark06
EDIT: forget my remarks, i just noticed you stated 7970M CF... thought you were talking about single card, no clue if that score is high or low on CF. -
Skyrim is working fine for me.
-
Installed this driver over 12.11p, didnt uninstall a thing, also installed CAP2.
So far i can say everything works about the same, vantage and 06 scores are almost equal to previous 12.11 dirvers/
BSODs also continue as usual, i am getting used to rebooting unplugged (wich completely avoids getting BSODs), but i guess my battery will not appreciate it in the long run. I truly hope they eventually fix this BSOD crap.
As for performance i have no real clue, i can venture its the same as 12.11p, maybe even a bit lower in BL2 (its still pretty high anyway)
I was even able to overclock my card and CCC opens ok. -
No bsod here.
P170EM.
I only got Bsod once with a previous driver 12.10 (dunno) i installed it wrong, after i learned to make a clean installation it did not happen anymore. The key was to clear the registry from any remaining ati and igx code after de-installation . -
What should I uninstall if I want to try a clean install? I currently have the stock drivers installed, and when I uninstall the AMD graphics driver, the computer stops recognizing the Intel HD 4000 graphics card and recognizes it as a basic VGA adapter. After installing the new drivers, it still won't recognize the HD 4000 and, while it recognizes the 7970M, it says it has problems and won't use it. This information is all from Device Manager, by the way.
-
At least BSODs are not as frequent with the newer drivers. I think I get one every 8-10 restarts.
-
I have a weird issue and I just found out. I currently have the 12.11p drivers. I need to reboot twice inorder to play my games. I have also found out from another thread to install a September release of the Intel drivers which I did. I have to boot and reboot the system inorder for me not to get the black screen when starting games.
Will try this driver and report findings. Will just install it over without uninstalling anything. =)
Edit 1: working good so far. Tried rebooting while plugged in and no BSOD. Tried booting through battery only, no BSOD. No black screen on first boot which is good. Will try with games later. As i'm currently at work and there are people beside me. XD I also tried to load up a game just to check the temps. But they are not showing. I only get to see the fps. -
where did you get the intel oct released one? this is the latest i can get
-
My apologies. I just checked and I have that driver installed. Will edit post. Thanks for pointing that out!
-
could you post a step by step method to do the clean install you are talking about?
-
download driver
uninstall previous driver using control panel.
reboot into safe mode
run driver sweeper
reboot
install driver
this is what i do anyway. ive never uninstalled intel drivers. been ok so far. im about to install these new beta drivers -
LOL. Where did you get the latest Intel driver? Hmmm... intel.com. Latest is 2875,
-
Hah, just posted about this driver in the other thread. I was also having the BSOD's, and replacing atikmpag.sys with old ones no longer fixed it. Clean driver install didn't really work until I used the method here: Guru3D.com Forums - View Single Post - Updating Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Drivers or until I simply did a clean install of factory driver, then 12.7 driver only, then 12.11 b11 driver only.
In actual reality it seems that the BSOD might be related to WinSAT.exe launching after some of the driver install methods, but not others. I basically killed winsat.exe in the task scheduler as well.
Main point is though, 0 performance increase over 12.7 driver in DX9 DCS World. So I'm really starting to get angry with AMD and am considering a swap to 680M if the WHQL 12.11 is the same. -
bn880, I did the process that your post described, and when I finally installed the 12.11 b11 drivers, after rebooting, I get a message that warnings occurred during installation, but I can't find any warnings in the log when I click "View Log". Also, after installing, the computer does not recognize the Intel HD 4000 graphics, and there is a yellow triangle by the 7970M. What am I doing wrong?
-
You still need to install the Intel driver first. So grab the latest intel driver, and just before you are about to install 12.11 b11 install Intel, reboot. then install 12.11 b11.
The one I use and works great: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22019 -
The 12.11b11 installer doesn't include intel drivers, so you'll have do download and install those separately. If they refuse to install, use safe mode. I'm currently using the 9.17.10.2875 intel driver. Try rebooting into normal windows. Then if the ATI driver is still having problems, uninstall it via device manager and go back into safe mode and reinstall it by directing device manager to the folder where 12.11b11 was extracted. Hopefully, if that works you'll be able to reboot to normal windows and everything will work. I can't remember exactly how I get these drivers working because every one is different, but usually it involves a couple blue screens and safe mode installs before I finally get them both working.
-
I installed the Intel drivers and it worked. Finally! Thanks.
Also, if your computer will BSOD unless you reboot it while unplugged, I may have found a solution. Go into the Power > PowerPlay section of the CCC and set set the "Plugged In" setting to "Maximize Battery Life". Your battery setting should already be set to maximize battery life. Both of mine defaulted to maximize battery life. When I changed the plugged in setting, I got BSODs on reboot unless I was unplugged. Changing it back fixed the problem. I hope this helps!
Edit: I've just noticed that the new version of the CCC doesn't offer me a pop-up after I run an application for which it doesn't have a High Performance/Power saving setting. Is this true for anyone else? I can still go into the CCC and set it, but I liked being notified if there was no setting. Can I turn that feature back on? -
Yes, it's true for everyone with new CCC. On the other hand you can go back into the app and choose your setting as all your previously ran apps are listed there. No way to turn it back on unless you install the old CCC (which works too)
-
What exactly would power play affect if set to maximize battery? Its interesting to be able to set this and reboot normally without unplugging. I must say the default is NOT both to maximize battery, in my case plugged in default is maximize performance.
IMHO the POP up was a royal pain, and now CCC is much "smarter" and selects the proper settings for each program by itself correctly most of the time. -
I believe, if set to maximize performance, it will try to run every application on the 7970M unless instructed not to. If set to maximize battery, it try to will run every application on the HD 4000 unless instructed otherwise. I'm guessing that something (probably a core OS process) it tries to run on the 7970M doesn't want to for whatever reason and causes a BSOD.
-
so far so good, i set powerplay to maximize battery and no more BSODs plugged in.
Funny no one (including AMD) figured this out sooner... i will post AMD about this, maybe they can find the source of the issue and let us set powerplay however we wish.
REP for you gooey -
It's a good find for us, but not so great for AMD as it treats just a symptom not the cause. In reality it should not BSOD with everything set to High Perf/7970m
-
yes, its not a good point for AMD, still i just reported that on battery or with powerplay to maximize it we can avoid the BSOD issue,to see if they can pinpopint the issue at last.
-
just to clarify. You are not using afterburner with auto overclock on start-up right ? cause this gives bsod.
-
NOPE, i have never used that feature
-
so odd. i had my first encounter with this bug today. although my machine did not BSOD, games would freeze or just not appear. the 3 finger salute (ctrl/alt/del) worked but pretty much those steps helped fix the issue for now...thanks
-
did this and it did prevent the bsod,but.... I had to switchit back to maximise performance since the pc appeared to have switched to intel.
-
BSODs dissapear setting plugged in powerplay setup to maximize battery, BUT you have to set it back to performance to play games or other graphic demanding tasks, i tested 3dmark11 with power play set to max bat and got half the usual score (3500 or so, normal is 6615, even if it reports 7970M as the card used). Disabling powerplay alltogether gives even worst results (1500 marks or so).
So yes, this is a good way to avoid BSODs but not a definitive solution. I wonder why this happens tho, the software settings should take command and use the dcard to its fullest, wich clearly does NOT happen.
I did report this to AMD, maybe some more reports can give AMDs team input to fix this once and for all, BSODs are really not a good thing at all to have around, even if we all are getting used to them already. -
My laptop starts up fine plugged in set at maximize performance. I get a BSOD once every 5-10 bootups, which I deal with. I turn off my computer with both Windows power and the Sager Utility at balanced, however.
