I have actually never tried to install the new drivers, so I am still on stock.
The thing is that i hate BSOD, but how is this one? Is it only on boot up? So that you just start it over and everything is cool? Or does the computer suddenly crash right in the middle of something?

For those people who own 7970M that experienced BOSD during startup with AC plug in, the PowerPlay in Catalyst control was the one caused BOSD occurs during startup. Simple solution is you just disable this function every time before you shutdown the laptop and enable it once you already login to the windows. Then you can start you laptop while plug-in the power.

Has anyone gotten the black screen slash crashing with beta 11? I'm on beta 11 and it's doing the same thing when I had the 7970M performance drivers. Beta 8 never did this.

UPDATE: This is the second time I've seen something weird and unexplainable. The problem fixed itself. No more crashing/black screen/audio-looping. I did NOTHING. One minute I couldn't launch any game, the next minute they all launched. Back when I was on the performance drivers, everything worked great. I even posted test results with BF3. Then a few days later crashing/black screen/audio-looping happened and I had no choice but to go back to the betas. WEIRD.

I have beta 7 and I occasionally get the black screen when starting a game. Usually happens after I get a bsod and have to restart a second time.

Really happy with the beta 11's. I had previously installed beta 8 and there was definitely poorer image quality with 12.11 beta 8 whilst gaming as I was comparing them directly to my previous reference the 12.8 catalyst drivers.
These 12.11 beta 11 not only offer more fps but also retain the IQ of previous drivers and I have played with these on FC3, Hitman, MP3, AC3, crysis 1 and 2 all very very nice IQ and excellent fps.

Well done AMD, these drivers are keepers and thnx U :)

I only occasionally get BSODs with 12.11 beta11, and I have not had a black screen with any of the 12.11 beta drivers.

Yeah i think it's safe to say the EM design was a stupid idea from Clevo. Penny pinching at that level (unlike Dell's Alienware) has made a lot of our laptops nearly useless for 3D for 6 months.

12.11 Beta 11 + CAP2 is working great on my jury-rigged 6970M. Although I guess that'd be expected since I don't have to deal with Enduro.

BSODs are gone. Who would have thought it was that simple?
My power play stays disabled, so no need to constantly disable before shutdown.

Next issue... Far Cry 3. The game constantly crashes CCC. I can't switch to high performance settings rendering the game unplayable. I think it's the game, and not the drivers however. I've tried everything from 12.8 to 12.11 and it crashes all of them. The only drivers it's stable with are the stock drivers. And when you do get the game running, there's that black shadow issue.

I was playing Battlefield 3 (BF3) with average 50 FPS with ultra settings (AA OFF) with 12.11 beta 8.
After latest BF3 patch (last week) plus beta 11, average FPS dropped to 20 FPS...

    This happened to anyone else?

It's probably the atidxx32.dll error that is causing the crash. Try running the game in "borderless" instead of fullscreen in the video settings. It solved the problem for me, and several others reported the same thing.

Disabling powerplay or setting plugged in setting to maximize battery does indeed get rid of BSODs, BUT you have to set this back on and/or to max performance in order to play games or you get serious performance losses.
So at this point there are two ways to avoid the BSODs:
    1) Reboot on battery (not plugged in).
    2) Turn off powerplay or set the plugged in powerplay play section to "maximize battery". And then turning it back on when needed

I still think this is an issue that should be adressed in future driver releases, its not logical to tweak startups like this, so please use AMDs bug report form to make them work on it.

I actually did reported BOSD during start-up issue via AMD feedback page since they issued 12.11 beta 6. However, it seem like AMD sill did not seriously take this feedback into consideration yet...perhaps we need more voices though..

I think it's more about statistics collection than actually investigating any individual report.

Hmm, I tried Saints Row 3 with beta11. The performance was horrible compared to beta8, and CAP2 makes all of my games crash. Back to beta8 for me!

Well, I have a clean install of beta11 paired with latest CAP2 for about 3-4 days now. Only had 1 BSOD after the initial installation but haven't experienced any more since that. System seems to be much more stable, although neither MSI afterburner, nor gpu - z do not show the temps of 7970 or even the proper clocks. Haven't tried many high end games but as I've mentioned before, no BSODS so far and no black screen issues whatsoever. Not sure if it means much but games like Mafia II run on maxed gfx without any issues. Just pulled of a P6520 on 3DMARK 11 basic edition.

Made a clean install by using the ATIman software which seems to be much better than driver sweeper which ended up BSODing my laptop everytime I would get to windows log in screen, so I had to do a system restore. ATIman doesn't even require you to run it in safe mode which makes it very easy. Download latest version, run according to instructions, couple of reboots and its done (make sure to uninstall the AMD and Intel stuff first through add/remove programs). Afterwards install INTEL drivers FIRST, reboot and install beta11, reboot, than CAP2 (also .11). As it seems to be running quite smooth for me I won't try to fix the temps issue on MSI afterburner and gpu - z, rather wait until WQHL drivers to show up.

    By the way, just for the record my systems is the usual CLEVO - i7 - 3610qm, 16gb DDR3 - 1600, HD7970M, 500GB HDD.

I have a working install now as well, just installed the video driver only over stocks and then installed cap 2, one bluescreen after a single reboot, but everything seems to be working great now.
