Just wondering, if I limit the 1070s to 120w-115W each and get a good clocking 4940MXQS or 4930MX (70-80W?), could I survive with a 330W PSU? Because man, getting another is hell on my wallet...

Hey man how are you doing? (Both of my 8970m are still working with the modded bios that u helped me flash in the dark don't know if you remember btw)
yeah i was thinking about change them but i tried first to go and ask for eurocom help and yeah now is just the wait game!!

I never had an issue with 2x 1070s at stock and a CPU drawing up to 90W. Rarely are all 3 being used full load at the same time, and the adapters are OK with burst loads beyond 330W, it's just a specification
-
hey benny can you help me with overclock or undervolt on mine 4930mx? i can do tests install anything u want, i'm using the default p375sm heatsink and liquid metal. -
that plus the efficiency rating at 85-90% will let you see 367-388W at the wall socket, which would translate to 330W actual consumption at the given range

I run my single 1070 at 230W with a 330W PSU, so you should have no problems running dual 1070's at 115W * 2.jaybee83 likes this. -
Right now i only have the 330 psu using an old 780m here and waiting..
Looking around for a good tutorial into how to overclock my cpu without fking everything
but hey i'm stupid so who knows

Overclock by 100MHZ until black screen, and choose the frequency that was stable while increasing voltage. Something like 4-4.4GHZ is the average -
Yeah but where? intel xtu? because my bios is locked to make the 1070 work fine eurocom sent me the X7 bios and before i used to have @Prema bios and there i could tweak stuff but it did not work for me
i think
@Danishblunt told me something like this (i think) too i tried xtu but did not work well for me too instable (probably my fault) :/
-
Mastermind5200 Notebook Virtuoso
Throttlestop/XTU should work if you have an unlocked chip, I have a stock bios and I can get my 4700mq to 3.4GHZ from turbo bins -
Haswell is a little tricky to use sometimes. It's not as simple as OC 100mhz at a time, most don't know this, even papusan and mr.fox. I beat their haswell scores with no effort at all by quite a bit. Once my cooling is 100% finished I'll go for the 900+ cinebench score.
-
Better to listen to guys who have experience with the Haswell MX and SM Clevos for specifics.
I find Throttlestop easy and quick for overclocks settings and finding throttle reasons and x264 (such as the encoding part of Realbench) for inducing BSODs to help find minimum stable core voltage. -
then go ahead and enlighten the haswell users on the specifics, im sure theyll appreciate that

Hmm wil test it out will look into the post http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-throttlestop-guide.531329/ and see if i can to something about it

The thing I find odd is the listing I have on watch from upgradeyourlaptop shows an MSI 1070 and not a Gecube card.
-
Mastermind5200 Notebook Virtuoso
They do sell MSI cards and will send you the card that "corresponds" to your laptop "(Gecube 1070 for all standard laptops and the MSI for the P870xxx and MSI's) at least thats what I think -
Thats a pass for me then. Those 2 cards are worth very different sums of money.Mastermind5200 and bennyg like this.
-
Yeah if u can grab the MSI ones and run for the Gecube ones you know i have experience (in exploding them LOL).
-
That makes sense. Some don't fit (P15xxM and P17xxM), some need frame mods (like my P370EM for both slots), some the weak heatsinks mean they downrate the vBIOS power limit below 115W to MaxQ levels.
Which they don't mention on their eBay listings either. Most say "150W" with the pic of the MSI card but consumer law complaints are near impossible to get taken seriously across international borders so they think they can get away with it. Maybe a goods not as advertised PayPal complaintLast edited: Oct 3, 2018Mastermind5200 likes this. -

If the card you bought turns out to be a Gecube and the listing is an MSI, thats "item not as described" and you should 99% get your money back -
In a nutshell.
-
Time limits may apply unfortunately
-

ebays is 45 days, and then if that's expired you can go through PayPal something around 180 days -

Mostly through ebay you likely can get a refund. -
Interesting, but i will wait for eurocom answers about what they will do if there's no other way to fix the cards, because i paid for a full GTX1070 not an 1070 maxQbennyg likes this.
-
wrong, you paid for the nerfed card, however it should be at least functioning.
-
Well both of them have the same value, so i could require that they send the msi one or at least say that i will not not recieve a "capped"/"faulty" card!
-
The only world where a gecube 1070 = msi 1070 is eurocoms.bennyg and Mastermind5200 like this.

If I ordered a super clocked 1080ti with a tri fan cooler and got a blower style "turbo" one instead I would certainly complain. If the listing specifies it as an MSI card then that's what it should be.
-
Hey guys, got a weird response from eurocom so i´m here for some help:
Should i try to contest them if they try to pass me the Gecube one because in the listing there was nothing that mentioned the GeCube one
What do you guys think about this?! -
Wrong, it mentioned GTX 1070 and picture of the Gecube card. However you should be extremely careful when they tell you there is no ETA. Keep reminding them that you are waiting, ask for updates etc. to make them get really annoyed of you, that way you will get them to not ignore you.
-
Get your money back and stay away from eurocom. They can't even give you a eta as they don't produce these cards.

I will go slow asking them about every monday and thursday right now im focusing in my Devops course but after october t i'll send messages to them every day.

You're better off buying a MSI 1070 off Aliexpress.
If you can deal with the tab, you can even try a Zotac 1080 (or 1070), but good luck getting the Nvidia drivers installed (MAKE VERY SURE the heatsink contacts the VRM's as there seems to be a different layout on the Zotac card compared to the MSI card for some VRM positions.Mastermind5200 likes this. -

The listing picture is literally a Gecube card. It sucks that it blew, but that's how they're built, try to get an RMA/Refund but if it's outside the return window they don't owe you anything unfortunately -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If you recourse time has expired in ebay there is not much you can do.

i Could try paypal, and the listing had more pictures, with other models. Well anyways i'm screwed, sad because i really thought that eurocom would be a virtuous company and i hope i seems that i was wrong about it.
-
Mastermind5200 Notebook Virtuoso
Again, if it's been more than 180 days (PayPal) or 45 days (eBay), you're out of luck. If Eurocom had a warranty stated on that listing maybe they'll honor it, but likely not. They seem to have gone really down hill in the past year or so -

If the listing is vague and not specific it becomes difficult.Mastermind5200 likes this. -
I would love to get a Gecube card and see if i can fix it so it can sustain higher loads, but that would be an expensive hobby :'D
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
What he said. Stop digging deeper as you will reach nowhere. These cards are not going to function properly and you are wasting a lot of time after paying an overpriced sum. When you pay that much money and get no ETA on when you are getting your cards that is unacceptable.
My reply on the previous comment.andrewff2 likes this. -
Well because i bought the cards long ago and i've taken too long to do somethig about it, i'll have to wait for them because they can just ignore me (as retaliation) and for me is just a loss and loss situation.MahmoudDewy likes this. -
Yeah i thought about it but i'm not good in this but @t456 PM me long ago offering help, but because of some personal issues could not send the card, and after the second one blew and my talk with eurocom they told me to RMA both of them. If this doesnt work i´ll probably send them to him
-
If you don't mind u could send 1 to me :'D

The main part are the chips.
Step 1. Find a better pin compatible part (start by looking in the same series)
Step 2. Order the parts from the likes of digikey
Step 3. Ship off to competent electronics repair shop and ask them to swap them. -
Here in Brazil this is something rare as an unicorn (competent electronics repair shop), we have here loads scammers or places with subpar knowledge, there's always someone trying to pull a fast one at you. It's sad that we have to go somewhere outside of our own country, but hey this is the reality here.
I could try it myself but i have to study it first to test on the cards later and right now my priority and my money is in my devops certification. -

You do need to be sure of a solid soldering job with the power involved.
-
Hi there folks,
I'm using eurocom support platform but for two weeks i did not got any feedback about my cards, anyone here have some direct email? or something? If possible coud you guys pm me the email.. because the [email protected] is the same, no response at all. -
