I know, HID is currently the "perfect" reseller aside from the wrap request.

I've got young kids at home who have been known to 'draw pictures' on monitors so I've always kept a screen protector on my laptops. the problem is, I'm horrible at installing them. I've always ended up with an eyelash or speck of dust in the middle 60% of the screen and have just lived with it.

Are there any resellers out there willing to offer installation of a screen protector for a modest fee when I get a new system come November?

I guess the problem could be that the sellers that offer custom bios have their own brand of clevo while xoticpc sticks to Sager. So I guess Sager has to allow this to happen. But Iam not sure.

Speaking of own brand, what happened to your force brand? Do you still offer these?

Yeah, there is just a few models available right now. I'm sure there will be more available once any new models start launching.

Loved my Force GT60 Barebones. You lost the Sager NP8657. Can you share any info as to why (i.e. when it'll be replaced or what with :p.) I know the answer is probably no.

Let's assume hypothetically that pascal laptops launch on August 19. Hypothetically, would someone like a friend of mine be able to get a 15.6" or 14" pascal laptop, especially Sager or Clevo, at that point? Asking hypothetically for a friend.

Hypothetical information on hypothetical models are still under hypothetical NDAs too. :(

But seriously, there isn't any info released as of yet. Once NDAs are up, then the answers will be there, but not much we can talk about until then.

Waiting (im)patiently. :) I've been lugging around a Sager 15.6" gtx 560m (xotic pc btw) since 2011 or so. It's big, it's heavy, and it doesn't get the job done these days. Need me some new pascal hotness.

Well we can answer this hypothetical question with an accurate answer ;-) Yes you will be able to order (pre-order) the models on the launch date as long as the company in question has their new product pages online! The shipping time will also depend who you order from, because there will be differences in when stock arrives, which models come in first and so on. Bear in mind that some NDAs have a different date for advertising a new product, being able to offer it for sale and even when they are allowed to ship. I can't tell you exactly what's happening with the dates at this launch as to do so would break NDA, but it's easy to conclude that any shipping date would (as always) be pretty close to a launch date.

15.6" EVOC (Clevo), once launched, can certainly be ordered for immediate shipment, or pre-ordered, depending on which GPU you want for your hypothetical friend. Ship date will depend on which GPU you want....more accurate news will be available once they are launched.

The EVOC models will have the Custom Prema BIOS and vBIOS.

    Hi,

I'm trying to decide between the P870DM2/3 and the P775DM2/3

It will be used for the HTC Vive (which is my main reason for upgrading), professional video editing (but I don't want a workstation) and strategy games.

    Both come with my desired spec: i7-6700K / 32GB / GTX 1080 / 4k screen

I don't need SLI (the Vive doesn't support it) - and I'm drawn to the lighter/smaller P775 - I also prefer the look of this model.

Assuming that I'm not worried about differences in price (if there are any):
    • Are there any significant differences in build quality/sturdiness that I should be aware of?
    • Are the touchpads identical?
    • Does the 870 really need two power adapters even without SLI?
    • Are the 4k panels identical?
    • Are there any other disadvantages to the P775 that I should know about?
PS. Answer based on the older models if you need to ;)

There may be changes to some values which cause comparisons to old models to be obsolete. Have a good look around launch.

The build quality is about the same, the trackpads are about the same (I'm not sure if they are exactly the same parts).

You would want two power supplies if you are pushing the CPU and GPU both to the fullest, where 330w isn't enough. For most people that's not an issue, and I suppose you could always look at getting that down the road if needed.

I'm not sure on the screens, as it may vary depending on where you are looking at purchasing it.

Thanks for the info - very useful.
When you say pushing the GPU to the fullest, do you mean overclocking - or just running demanding games?

Not all games will fully push the graphics card. I'm not sure about the Vive, but most games would be fine. Overclocking and benchmarking are two areas where it would be more likely to use more power from the graphics card.

I'd say get the dual PSU if you're buying from a @Prema approved shop. Else there's not much overclocking to do.

You will probably want to stay with the P775...it will have all you want, with no disadvantages over the P870, and will give you the look, size and weight you want. Take another good look once they are released.

The standard AC Adapter setup is all you will need, and with the Prema Custom BIOS and vBIOS you will have more control over your fans and battery usage, as well as overclocking and other nice features.

I'm a VR developer, so I'm in a similar boat. If I'm going to be overclocking, would it be advantageous to go with the P870 because of the bigger body?

If you're doing any kind of serious overclocking I think you'd be much better off with the P870. It has a much better cooling system, especially the new vapor chamber cooling option. That should be amazing, but wait until we see how it actually works. Looks can be deceiving. I'd wait for proof before spending any money. Taking anything on faith with new tech is almost always a bad idea. Give the early adopters 90 to 120 days to show us what they've got. Everyone was blessed this last go 'round since @Prema and I had a review unit to showcase what everyone could expect before buying. We don't have that advantage going for us this time.

So now that NDA's are lifted, is it true that only the P870DM3 has vapor chamber as a cooling solution? How much of a difference does it make in comparison to the cooling of the P77X model if both are equipped with a single 1080?

    This question is for XoticPC:

Is the new Aorus X3 Plus (V6) equipped with an actual Pascal 1060? The technical specifications page says, "1060M." Must be a typo somewhere.

    Thanks.

is clevo planning on making a new chassis for their 1080 sli laptops?

i ask because when the 980m sli came out they used the old 880m sli chassis at first then after a few weeks built a new chassis specially for the 980m sli

What do you guys think of the ASUS 15.6" GL502VS vs. the Clevo P650rs? I've got the ASUS and I like it thus far, but I don't know, I don't love it. I value portability (weight, mostly) and screen quality; the ASUS has a respectable screen, but the bezel is a bit bothersome. Any comments?

Why don't any actual resellers answer questions here lately, since the NDA lift?

I'd like to know who offers the
AUO B173HAN01.2 screen, specifically in the P775DM3?

Sorry - have been at Gamescom in Cologne all week working but I tried to keep an eye on nbr.....apart from this question what else hasn't been answered?

4K panel for U717 hasn't come in stock yet (FHD is already of course), hopefully in 3-4 weeks.

Haha, maybe I was being a bit dramatic. Its basically one user on the previous page asking about the new chassis, a pretty much dealt with question about a product comparison and my question whether the P775DM3 w/ 1080 gets overly hot, because there aren't any reviews of that model released yet :)

Is that AUO screen I posted not supposed to be 1080p 120hz? I'm specifically interested in that variant (dying to know when it gets available), not 4K, and GSync is not a must either.

Hope you had a great time, is there any XMG coverage of the gamescom?

Oh sorry, I missread the panel model number. We aren't offering the current 120Hz options because they are missing quite an important feature that the 120Hz panels we will be offering in a month or two will include.

P775DM3 (XMG U717) runs absolutely fine with a 1080, nothing to worry about there at all. The stock Clevo fan profiles are being modified by us, once we are happy with the balance of cooling performance and fan noise we will release the U717 and U727 to the press for full reviews :)

We didn't have a stand at Gamescom this year, gotten extremely expensive and it's chaos to organise everything. Instead we concentrated on the Nvidia mobile Pascal launch, which we had our own laptop and VR area in, eSports and other business relationships!

    Nvidia launch event;

There's a lot more content available but most people will upload this comming week, mostly Grman language content until the rest of the material has been edited but you can also check our our Facebook page which has more links:

You could say wait, sure, but I've been waiting since 2010. Tired of waiting! :)

Yes that's correct, the SLI heatsink has a vapour chamber covering the two GPUs. I can't comment on the difference between P775 and P870 with a single 1080 unfortunately as we have only tested and are currently offering only SLI options in the U727 / P870DM3.

This ones a shout out to xotic, because curiosity. The NP8172 shows no eta date but sager says the 6700hq is backordered till the 26th so are there units to ship this week? Likewise if someone did IPS upgrade on the non G variant would it then fall into eta timeline of the G variant? (which per sagers backorder information is 26th and same on your site~)

Just trying to get idea on how to approach it so thanks!

@Garridovic correct, we don't bother too much with the Clevo model numbrs as far as our product nomenclature is concerned - the P507 covers both GPU options!

New Sager NP8173-S arrived damaged out of the box. Can anyone attest to Sager's customer service regarding a replacement?
Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on this forum.
I recently ordered a NP8173-S through Sagernotebook.com and the package finally arrived last Friday via UPS. I recorded myself taking out and inspecting the laptop only to discover the back left exhaust vent to be smashed in and dented. The plastic grille pieces are snapped and the metal on the chassis surrounding the vent is warped and bowed outwards from the dent. The internal box with sager logo had a hole in the bottom, and the outside box was dented and badly taped, which leads me to believe either the internal laptop box fell out of the shipping box during transit and UPS put it back together, or Sager has terrible quality control. I spoke to customer service and they said they would have to wait until UPS processes a damage claim (UPS lists 7-10 business days to process, but frankly I am surprised Sager is not issuing me a return label immediately) and schedule a time to pickup before they can send me a replacement and or repair. Later in the day (after hours) I was issued an RMA number but the directions in that email asks me to mail it myself with insurance back to Sager...at my expense... I can't wait to speak with the CS rep on Monday to clarify.

The laptop is now on backorder until September 9. I will not accept a repair, and I will only take a brand new replacement since the chassis I received obviously suffered rough handling. There is no way in hell I will spend any money out of my own pocket besides the purchase price to resolve this issue caused by either Sager or UPS.

    1. Can anyone with similar experience share if and how the issue will be resolved?
    2. Can anyone attest to Sager's level of customer service?
    3. How would a different reseller handle this issue? (It sounds like all the resellers order through sager anyways? Please correct me if I am wrong, I am under the impression that Sagernotebook.com is Clevo's retail arm)
    4. If all works out in the end do you guys have a recommended shipping (that doesn't break the bank) option to ensure safe handling?

If I end up getting dicked over I will not hesitate to initiate a credit card charge back through my bank. The model I purchased is now on backorder until September 9, so I will have to wait an additional 2 weeks+ shipping time in addition to the 2 weeks I've already waited to receive my initial order. My experience so far is going downhill fast.

Any response would be greatly appreciated!

Additional details: Shipping box has no holes but is really dented up/scraped up and shows very poorly applied double taping which could be signs that the internal box fell out of the shipping box. The internal laptop box with sager's logo has a large hole (2.5-3 inches) in the bottom which seems to have matched up with the damage impact location on the laptop. The top of the internal box near the handle has a small puncture hole at least 1inch wide.

Edit: Situation currently being looked into by Sager rep: Meaker@Sager

New Update after speaking with David@Sager over the phone today 8/29:
David assured me that Sager will send me a replacement laptop asap at no additional cost regardless of what UPS decides. Unfortunately the replacement wont be built and shipped until September 9 when they receive a new shipment of laptop chassis. My first conversation (8/26)on the day of discovering the damage was scary in that I was told it would have to wait on UPS's decision to refund or not, but has now been clarified. I will report back with further updates regarding resolution to my situation in this thread.

Can you talk anymore about this missing feature in 120Hz?

    I'm guessing it was G-Sync.

    @DontWorrys

Sorry to hear about the shipping issue, problems do happen with couriers sometimes and you can go through all of them and find people who have had a bad experience at some point along the line.

If you want forum members opinion then I would recommend to post this in the main part of the Sager/Clevo forum, other company accounts like me can't comment on other resellers / system integrators due to forum rules - so it wouldn't be right for me or others to comment on what happened or how we would handle it.

"It sounds like all the resellers order through sager anyways? Please correct me if I am wrong, I am under the impression that Sagernotebook.com is Clevo's retail arm"

A "system integrator" (say Company A) builds a laptop and may then sell this directly to end users, to other companies as a barebone chassis or have other companies sell their branded laptops. Company A is generally purchasing laptop chassis direct from Clevo.

A "reseller" (say Company B) sells the branded laptop of another company. They will not purchase direct from Clevo, they could direct ship a laptop build by Company A to an end user of they could work on it themselves before shipping it to their customer.

Clevo has hundreds of direct customers who purchase barebone chassis from them around the world. Sager is one of these companies, as is XMG.

There are some out that have Gsync, like the MSI GT73VR Titan. Now I'm dying to know @XMG 's secret. :D

Ah, thank you for the clarification! Looks like I misunderstood the relationship between Sager and Clevo. I have posted my issue in the Sager/Clevo thread and Sager rep Meaker has reached out to me to review my case. I really appreciate your input!

I noticed on the NP8173 chassis that there is no option for a 120hz screen. I read elsewhere that the only option currently is a 60hz Gsync screen (which may be overclocked to 75hz?) and so that is what I ended up settling with since I figured I could always hook up an external 144hz monitor for when I want to do any serious gaming.

My question is, once a 120hz option becomes available, is it possible to order and replace the 60hz screen?
If so, can it be done by the end user or would it have to be shipped to a reseller/integrator? I've never performed anything more difficult than just installing new HDD's/Ram in laptops.

Also, is the 1070 inside the Sager limited to just driving Gsync on the laptop display or can it also drive Gsync on any Gsync enabled external monitors? I'm assuming it can, but I'm not sure if there are any specific hardware limitations that make it only work on the laptop screen.
