How likely is it that there will be a 17.3" laptop with "4k 120hz" or "QHD/3K 120Hz" IPS panel this summer/fall? Are Hdr panels still long way from mass production for laptops? Thanks!

saved money. Thx

I seen long back JDI 8K panel with 120 MHz based on LPTS with IPS NEO. Don't release or not

Intel is still finalizing Z390 chipset - they may support 6core in Z390 but not sure yet if 8cores be supported in Z370.ssj92, FTW_260 and camberman3000 like this. -
So 8-cores 10nm intel cpus are now pretty sure for those z390s?
-
Will you guys be refreshing your laptops with Z390 this fall?

Heya @Donald@HIDevolution can you open a PM with me pretty please I have lots of prelim questions about potential future order because AVA is burning me hard. I cant call only use discord or skype

They have a few new laptops about to be offered soon, they have a newseltter if you subscribe to it, they usually show things to come.
Though not sure on the specific chipsets. Was just an idea. -
anyday now we'll see some confirmation of 9700k. hopefully z370 will take 8 cores.camberman3000 likes this.

When will they fix fan issues with the P650HS-g? or are we abandoned now?

It really sucks that our chipset may only support one generation of intel CPUs. I know the Z270 can be modded to fit a 8700k (Mr.Fox did this correct?) but it would be nice to have drop in capability.
I would really like to see some "Diversity" in the desktop-cpu-laptop world. Lets get some Ryzen 2700s in here. Ya know, to make Intel feel the burn. -
Evidently fan issues can be fixed with...... Fn+1. Not the droids you were looking for, I know. But it seems 650 support may go the way of the dinosaurs. I really liked this thing too. Great temps, when pasting is done correctly, and great overall portability.
-
@Mr. Fox modded a p870dm with a z170 motherboard
-
Thanks for the clarification on that. If that can be done, I would venture to guess that a 370, if not supported, could be modded to fit Ice Lake - when it releases.Mr. Fox likes this.
-
It is anyone's guess at this point. 8700K was supposedly impossible for Z170 and Z270, but now we see evidence to the contrary. It is not plug and play. Intel sees all of this stuff, so I would be shocked if they did not take greater steps to block it more so than what they did with 8700K.FastMover likes this.

If Intel decided to run a new platform without a refresh, it would be a really bad PR move. AMD is supporting their 3 series motherboard platform for another refresh, If intel decided against this, I think it would add ammunition to the AMD arsenal.
From Tech power up forums...
"Kaby Lake and Skylake shared a chipset generation. Z170 and Z270 were the same generation, despite the numbering. Z270 was just a refresh of Z170, just like Z97 was a refresh of Z87 and Z77 was a refresh of Z68"
So, in theory, they should at least support one more jump, to Ice Lake.Mr. Fox likes this. -

You never know any more, but I would guess that some bureaucrats are demanding that they somehow lock down support. -
I don't like intel at all not their product & the company

I think Intel behaves like essentially all large corporations behave. They are in business to make money, and some of the things they do rub me the wrong way. But, hey... I can say the same thing about my employer. What I want does not really matter if what I want is not going to make them more money. You take the good with the bad, or you do without. That's how they roll. The alternative might suck worse, so you have to weigh the pros and cons. Sometimes I choose to do without. Other times, doing without will be too painful, so we lower the bar and move on.
-
Unfortunately most companies don't support AMD because they can't bribe. I wish time will come when AMD will take over.
However Jim Keller joins Intel. Intel still stuck on 17 nm and TSMC will going to launch 7 nm. Sorry I went out off topic.

A bribe would not be adequate. Most large corporations would not do business with a company that offered a bribe, as it calls their trustworthiness into question. For large companies with thousands of notebooks and some desktop workstations, the risk of going with a wildcard product is not attractive. They generally take a low risk path and go with something they already trust. And, AMD does not really bring anything to the table for their fleets of business notebooks. Intel essentially has the only horse in the race. That could change if AMD shows up with a compelling offering in the notebook realm. Right now they do not really have anything available for anyone to even consider.

Question for the resellers.
I have seen some of the resellers offering "Polishing or lapping" services on the CPU cooler. Does this procedure net positive results. Are the results measurable or is it a few degree delta and within the margin of error.
In short, how effective is this service? -
Nope, most companies don't support AMD CPUs because the demand from manufacturers for support (from AMD) in integrating AMD solutions into their products is higher than what AMD can support at the moment. It has nothing to do with money on the demand side, it's about resources on the supply side. That's why we have seen a single exclusive ODM with AMD CPU support in 2017 and now a small handful more in 2018.

Hello,
Question to resellers in Europe.
Is it possible to buy a Clevo notebook in Europe like this:
I5-8300H
GTX 1060 6 Gb or 1050 Ti 4 Gb
15.6" IPS screen

Without: os, ram, ssd, hdd

Hi a german customer here,
i am not satisfied with my standard 60Hz LG IPS panel that came with my N957TP6 so i would like to get an offer for a 120Hz TN panel like:
INNOLUX N156HHE-GA1 C2 or
AUO B156HTN05.2 (part number 6-50-LB232-G17 refering the service manual) or the previous version like AUO B156HTN05.1
My reseller is not able to get any other Displays as spare part for me so i have started to look around for myself and would like to find a reseller that is able to send me an offer and sell a 120Hz TN panel (30pin eDP) with matte finish.
Please PN me !
**EDIT**

I have the Clevo w650sj (Eurocom Electra 2) and I need the flat cable 6-43-w6500-011-1, that connects the power button on the motherboard.
where can I find? or some alternative -

You can ask [email protected] if they have any for sale.
Give them the Clevo model name and Serial Number. -
could you create a dedicated thread for this upgrade? so I will add it in this guide

Does @Donald@HIDevolution do price/configuration match? and if so do you still offer the NBR discount after the price/configuration match? Also if you offer the match can we modify the options after the match? Hidevolution has options like The LM and Fujilopy id like to add and 3 YR warranty with the 100 minimal backlight bleed that the other site does not have

@Donald@HIDevolution I was corresponding with you on your website yesterday about the P750TM1-G but I think I might like the P775TM1-G's looks a bit better, and a larger screen might be helpful. My question is, I have had a P750DM in the past and am familiar with the size of it (I gather the P750TM is the same dimensions), but I'm a little concerned that the P775TM might be a bit too large.
I tried finding comparison pictures of the two laptops, but turned up empty. Is it possible to see the two machines side by side?
Additionally, do the 775TMs run noticeably cooler than the 750TMs?
Thanks again for all the help you've been so far. -
I'm in the market for a new notebook and am drawn towards Sager/Clevo resellers because of their amazing customer support over brands like Dell and HP- but these devices seem more focused towards professionals than end users who seek mobility- I was wondering if this is going to change moving forward with shifts towards more portable form-factors with skews with lower-end GPUs like the MX150 and longer battery life?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Yes, the two 15.6" versions have the same dimensions.
To compare dimensions between the 750 and 775, please scroll down almost to the bottom of the Customizer, just below the Add to Cart button, and click on the Specs tab for all of the detailed specs.
When you get the Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads upgrade, the temps for both models are virtually the same.

Hi. I own a Clevo P177SM and recently my AMD GPU died off so I ordered a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 980M but the system does not recognize it and won't run it. NVIDIA drivers fail to install every time. I tried DDU wiping AMD and NVIDIA and going for it again, same issue. NVIDIA support tried everything for about an hour and finalyy told me it should be an hardware issue, can I not upgrade the P177SM to a 980M?

The 980m is in fact there, so any idea why my system won't recognize it? HWinfo does.

I've got a question about backlight bleed. Would one consider the amount of backlight bleed in the picture below normal for an IPS panel in a Clevo?
-
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
you need the latest system bios and EC just incase your on a very early build, then it should support maxwell cards (900M series). Then it's really a matter of vbios for best performance, although it should be hard to come by a vbios for the 980M that is not recognised at the least by the system , even if it does not auto-install as you might expect with a officially supported videocard. (this is considered an after market upgrade, just so you know).
now once you know the hardware ID of the card in particular, you can follow through some of the tutorials or "How-To's" to modify the INF files in the NVidia driver package to get the card installed.
I would make note, that if your booting up with the HD intel graphics and using Optimus, which might be possible and your thing ( I do not know if your using an LVDS or an eDP panel, for example, but say your on LVDS, and bios is set to switcheable graphics and your running in legacy mode..)
You just want to make sure you see an option in the INF written "Optimus=1" under the right sections that your enabling the card, so that some difficult games, actually use the NVidia processor instead of the HD INTEL which they do sometimes, when the optimus option is not enabled because not being supported it takes control by default in switcheable mode.. etc..
Anyways, I can always help, or you can find help on these forums aplenty really. If you did in fact buy the card from a EUROCOM vendor, you can always try a support ticket as they mentioned.
