apparently they want to collect all the money they can including in hardware parts and then to disappear
why else they will collect all laptops they can
-
-
So I guess after they go bankrupt you will be able to buy your defective laptop from ebay.
-
hahah.. i just tried visiting their website and firefox won't let me since it was reported as an attack site... lol... luv it.
-
Yeah firefox goes nuts on that site.

Does PCMW, use RepairMaster for repairs?
They are about the most unprofessional warranty service available. Lots of companies use them, which is why consumers never get their problems fixed, or their parts back.
Now you guys can understand my frustration with Voodoo for lying to your face, and never fixing/replacing anything.
These companies should be forced to shut down,
K-TRON -
Oh snap back to the sticky of doom?
Sorry to those involved involved in this shamockery. -
So I called the Alameda County Sheriffs Office and spoke with a woman there who was sympathetic to my situation. I was told they do sometimes deal with situations like this, but that they would need to look over the documents I was referring to, to validate my claims, before taking any action. I was also told that sending what I've gathered to the California Office of the Attorney General was also a necessary step, since communication with someone in that office would give them a clearer picture about how best to move forward. So I will probably not have much info from those groups till mid-late next week, and thats if they review the info as soon as they receive it, and I won't be sending out the documents till Monday. With all the emails, my warranty, documents Shyster found and posted, and my BBB complaint I think I have about 40+ pages in each packet.
Get this though. I got a response to my last email to PCMW. "Thomas" again completely ignores any of the claims I have made against him/them and stays "in character", say that :
"Your unit is at a repair center in Fremont. They were working on replacing the motherboard, but I have instructed them to return the notebook right away. They weren't able to get it back to us Friday, but we should be able to get it back by Monday and ship it by Tuesday at the latest."
Of course I have an email from a week or two ago about how after they replaced the motherboard(right) they were getting memory errors and had to do "more diagnosing and replacing" of parts. So then I guess this is how it lays out for those of us using....whats that called again... aww yes, logic, they replaced the motherboard, got memory errors, replaced more parts(weeks ago btw) and were running it through tests, before they sent it back, but now its getting (another??) motherboard replaced, but not in their shop, though it may or may not be fixed by the time they "send it"....
No matter if they do send it back, fixed or broken, I recommend that no one prolong their dealings with, or start dealing with PC MicroWorks. There are so many better, saner, safer choices, who have presence here on the boards. Hell, I have gotten more help/support/truth from Justin @ Xoticpc during this whole thing, than I ever got from PC MicroWorks. -
Let me add, I have replaced several notebook motherboards before, and on several models of dell laptops I can get it done in less than 2 hours, on a bed sheet on the floor with a headlamp and jewelers screwdriver set. Give me a FREAKING BREAK.
-
I feel sorry for those who bought the M860TU from PCMW over Sager last year because of one of two hundred dollars cheaper.
-
Bmonk, I strongly suggest you contact your credit card issuer and get your money refunded. It's unlikelly that PCM intends to send your laptop back. More likely is that they are trying to buy time with those emails while they file for bankruptcy, at which point your card issuer may not be able to retrieve your funds from PCM's bank.
The longer you wait, the more time you give PCM to protect themselves with bankruptcy avoid having to return your laptop or funds. -

how about for me, what can I do? I was the OP of this thread when I did send the laptop to PCMW, and now I regret it but I don't have any choice.
btw, if people go there, knock, and no one answers, how come FedEx was able to deliver my laptop and got a signature from them? That means someone should have got the door that time. -
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
can someone (who has their laptop with PCMW) help us by actually going there and see the situation and knocking at the door heavily?
i would have done that if i'm in the US but the prob is that i live in the philippines. please help me. -
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
BMonk will you be able to go to Fremont and see for yourself what PCMW does?
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Please
I just got my laptop last February and used it for over a month only and then I sent it in for repairs and now this. It really hurts.
-
I agree, talking to your credit card company may be the best way to go (assuming you paid with credit).
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I paid by international money transfer
-
Next week, I may do just that. In the last email he says: "I'm sorry this has taken so long -- I know you are frustrated. We will have this in your hands by next week, this is our guarantee."
But I have heard the same thing for 3 months, week after week. So since he said they would receive Monday, and send it Tuesday, I am going to wait till Tuesday, late afternoon. If I don't have a tracking number by then, I will most likely start driving down that night. I can make it to the bay area in around 10 hours, and I am used to driving overnight like that. I see no reason in going down before that point, since its unlikely I could even get them to answer the doors during office hours, let alone on the weekend. -
By the way, would anyone happen to know PCMWs sales volume?
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Ok. BMonk, can I give you my RMA number and tag me in the process of complaining?
-
I know they dish out a whole lot of lies, no idea how many notebooks though. Not all that many is my guess, and less now since all the drama on the forums. I have persuaded several people to buy elsewhere in the last month or so.
-
I'm curious how they've kept themselves afloat with their outrageous prices and customer service shenanigans.
-
-
After reading this thread through, I'm so thankful about buying from Kobalt instead.
Anyway, I wouldn't trust them anymore, no matter what. I don't live in US, so I can't judge how it exactly works there, but in Denmark your stories would be CANDY for those "we-bust-the-shady-businesses-and-confront-the-bad-guys" tv programs. If possible, I'd contact one of those programs and see if you can figure something out. Vendors like these tend to suddenly change their mind when there's a whole camera-team standing in their private appartment, asking them why they're lying. -
thats a good idea.
BMonk... you wanna contact some local news (TV, radio and newspapers) to tell them about your (and other's) situation....
make sure to tell them that these are not just any notebooks, they are worth more than some cars. -
Xankage - i know the type of program that you mean, like the BBC Watchdog

Well, I just found this discussion today, I've posted on the other discussion about PCMW being a different company in Texas before. I join with you all in that I purchased a comp in march of 2007 it was the Vega 20 in laptop and the motherboard just went bad on me. I loved my computer and never had any problem with their customer service until now. They of course don't answer the phone nor do they return messages left. I have one year left on my blanket protection warranty. I am probably the only lady here but I'm very disappointed in Thomas AKA owner of the company. But after reading Shysters very detailed information of what he has researched on the company, I personally am going to find someone else to fix my comp instead of wasting time and more money on PCMW. I feel bad for those of you who have sent their comps to them and don't have their property back. Good luck to you all.
-
Thats good.
you can contact the importer OEM of your system's barebones (most likely Sager) and they should be able to help you from there. -
Gophn,
Do we have a way to tell which barbones supplier was used by serial#. Is there an easy way to tell?
Thanks.

Can everyone please call PCMW now and see if somebody (even just one) gets through? I'm trying to call them at this very moment and as usual no one answers the call! I'm getting too frustrated here. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
call brigade, anyone?
-
I'm calling them now. I'll let you know happens.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Thanks Deathwinger. I'm on the process too.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I'm calling for one hour now and still no response!
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Can't law enforcers do something about this?!
This just isn't right! -
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Nope, I live in the Philippines. I mean some law enforcing guys should help out the US citizens that got affected by looking into the PCMW business right now. So that we can really know what is going on with them.
-
I just called and no answer.
Thanks Gophn, I'm assuming that OEM means original equipment manufacturer? I think it is a Sager. I will try to find a contact number for them. Does anyone have that info already? -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I'm calling for about an hour and a half now, no answer
-
However, I think the supplier of PCMW should be Eurocom. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Can anyone know what telephone company they are using and ask if they have an alternate contact number of any representative of PCMW?
-
I just tried calling an received no answer. I know that they received my defective 8800m GTX on 4/22. I sent an email to Support and Sales stating that if I did not receive and update by the end of business today I will start action with my Credit Card company to refund the cost of my system.
-
you guys ever read on other forums, in their sales section, of someone parting out something and selling the pieces that results in a thread blown up with complaints of buyers never recieving the part(s) or people receiving the parts late, etc....and the seller does nothing but apologize and come up with excuses on why things are happening the way they are? in the end of a 400 page thread the seller has stopped replying half way through it, there are sellers still not recieved their parts, and it is publically declared that the hole thing was virtually a scam where 75% of the buyers got screwed.
-
Okay, found Eurocom.
My comp: Falcon 17 Inch Crossfire Notebook 20 inch screen (the name Style Note on the back of screen)
I didn't find that in their products list. -
just email or call Eurocom and confirm that the serial is through them. -
Thanks Gophn I saw several on Clevo that looked like mine. I bought my comp in Mar 2007, I basically was sold a laptop that was discontinued probably when I purchased it. No surprise there! Thanks for your comments. I just have to suck it up, I got taken! However I will say that I loved it while it worked.

-
We have checked it before, its registered to [email protected]

Hi guys I just happened to randomly been reading this on the forums. I live in Fremont and I'm wondering if I could be of any help?
BEWARE of PC Microworks .... Do NOT send in your systems for repair
