You could try visiting them and check if the business still exists.
-
Yes, especially if you have a lot of large, scary looking friends. Seriously though, if you had the time to stop by their address and take a look, knock and find out if they are still in business. I would actually be interested in a photo of their building if that were possible. I certainly don't expect any of that though. Just what comes to mind if someone were offering. Any info on the location helps.
-
Yeah when I have some free time I'll find out. I searched their address and unfortunately the location is in a bit of a run down area where a Home Depot used to be with a Billiards room next door I think. May be a different complex but I'll find out.
-
Not hard to find out what it looks like with Google street view.
It's even listed in that office building.

Here's another map where you can do a 360 view around the building.

@A-tak
When will you think you can help us through this?
We will really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.
-
I think it's time for you to check out XoticPC for a new lappy.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Dude, I just used this $2000 laptop for about 2 months not considering the shipping I paid for to have it here in the Philippines and the shipping I paid again to send it for repairs. I don't think I can just let that pass away without doing anything right?
-
Any ideas how we can figure who the OEM for our PC Mircoworks machines are?
AMEX will not refund my money since it has been almost a year and is still covered by PC Microworks "warranty".
Sager will not sell me a 8800GTX because they are not the OEM. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
In my case, I did money transfer, would there be anyway to get the money back if I ask the bank to do it?
-
why dont you call them and find out?
-
From my experience with banks in EU, no , it's not possible just with you asking. Maybe with some legal binding order that would be sent to their bank. Unfortunately I do not know much about the banking system, but from what I know it is not possible.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I think so too that's why I really want to talk to PCMW.
-
I just got off the phone with Eurocomm. The were the OEM for my Blackhawk XR5. Eurocomm will cover the machine for 1 year. Unfortunately I sent my 8800 back to PCMW so Eurocomm will not replace it for me. However, they did offer my a 20% discount on a replacement 8800GTX.
If you still have a defective PCMW machine within 1 year of its life, give Eurocomm a call, they will check the serial # to see if it is their machine.
This may be an avenue for some. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
did you ask them regarding the status of pcmw?
-
Based on my serial my laptop is from Sager Midern. So it would be best for me to send my laptop before August of this year to them to check out why I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Drivers then.
This is disappointing of PCMW. Not because of the possibility of them closing down. But how they are behaving in that event. -
Haven't you seen that the scammers always and only use wire transfer only?
-
that could be if you are not using AHCI I believe.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Well PCMW isn't actually a scammer at the time I bought this laptop because there was no way for me to use a credit card since US based companies usually wants to ship to addresses that is confirmed by the CC company. In my case, I wanted the laptop to be shipped first to my relative in the US and the only way for that to happen is to pay by wire transfer to avoid any hassles.
Nirvana, you're making this hard for me, really. -
a freind of mine said there is a "available" sign in front of the building now? he didnt stop but he drove by there and said the parking lot was totally empty and a for lease sign was out side that doesnt sound good
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
oh my god!! what does that mean for us?!
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
was he sure that that is the same buidling?
can he go back and check again? -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
i'm going crazy
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
somebody please reply
-
Someone needs to drive down there and confirm this.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Please
If it's just possible for me I would drive down there but I can't.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Can anyone please call PCMW's OEM distributors and ask for their contact numbers?
-
Eurocomm (613) 224-6122 ext. 301
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
No, I mean alternate contact numbers of PCMW. I can't call some resellers because I'm from the Philippines.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Can any Fremont-based NBR member here help us please?
-
I'm not sure what to make of this but right now google has the pcmw website flagged as a malware warning. I tried continueing and avg popped up with a warning of possible infection. Once I manage to find some contact info I'll try calling. (edit) I tried calling their main number and selected sales, I sat on hold for 10 minutes and gave up.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Is there even little chance that the bank can help me with this issue even though I used wire transfer?
-
try running it in a sandbox if you know what that is. or run it on a virtual machine if you have access to one
-
Well I was just trying to show you how least secure wire transfer is. If you don't like the truth, don't ask.
-
I could but this is a fresh vista load that was done just so i had something to play with while i assemble my m570etu when it arrives today, So I wasnt to worried about it. I did feel the need to at least post a warning to the others on the forums. Now back to watching for the ups man......
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I just don't have any choice right now because I already did that transfer. -
finally a boutique brand not named "Alienware" is making bad headlines
seriously though, this is a really bad situation, and i hope all PCMW customers get what's rightfully theirs. -
Anyone hear of Mediawave PC Inc?
That's where Sager says my Clevo D901C came from by way of pcmw -
wow!! i feel sorry for you guys that have bought or getting your lappies repaired from PCMW. i was going to go with them when i got my NP9262. but went with Xoticpc instead due to the price and their customer service.
i hope there is some resolution to all this.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
@stealthl
I just called Sager and they also told me that its Mediawave that the sold my laptop to. Will that do anything for me? -
Not sure yet. I sent them an email asking that very thing
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Do you still have your laptop? Or did you send it also to pcmw for repairs? -
Mediawave? Are there 4 OEMs in NA?
-
I still have mine. I wanted to find out where it came from in case of a problem
-
What the hell if you go to their site google gives a warning.
-
I got a warning from Avast that something on their website was trying to access a potential malware site (couldn't read the whole link, though) - perhaps this is just coincidental and their website's been hacked and infected with something like the exploit?
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Yup, it started with Firefox detecting it. And now all AV, google and other search engines detect that it has a trojan downloader of some kind.

No. Sager imported the Clevo shell, then sold it to Mediawave (who is not an OEM, they are just a dealer), who then sold it to PCMW.
After the original Clevo one year warranty, that MIGHT be supported by either Eurocom, Sager or Pro-Star depending on which of these OEMs originally sold the shell into the Channel and under what terms it was sold, any buyer would have to look to their vendor for any warranty sold by that vendor. -
Is this: http://www.mediawavepc.com/n_Notebooks.htm
that sells systems labeled as the MW9262
, and the MW5797
, the same "Mediawave" that's being discussed here? And if so, how come they aren't listed on Gophn's Clevo Guide page?

The last I was aware, MediaWave does not sell to End Users, they target resellers/system builders.
-
Fair enough; I spoke too soon before I'd gone through the whole website. Thanks, Justin.
BEWARE of PC Microworks .... Do NOT send in your systems for repair
