No idea never used a P4.

If age is the question, Haswell is nearly 10 years old and they are capable of nearly anything a general consumer can think of. My mother is still using a 3632qm for her income which typically tops off in the 6 figures. Not to mention mpcie never reached saturation of its bandwidth in terms of its main use case being WiFi cards which still still top off at around 2.5Gb/s which the majority of home routers are still 100Mb/s for people that dont care and 1Gb/s for most while those that do care are probably 2.5Gb/s or just sticking to 1Gb/s and enriching their own intranet infrastructure. You'll notice that 5Gb/s wasnt a part of the discussion yet, and its deprecated regardless.

Thats before you think about MXM, storage and RAM etc etc
