Bah! I was going to order this month, but I get crazy buyers remorse so I know I will end up regretting it if I don't wait for the new models. I'd love to have a HDMI out as well.

Now things really get interesting. No matter what I still have a choice (15", 17")...kinda cool. I hope they will be able to ship these new models until the end of September or so.

A couple of clarifications and confirmations:

    Clevo M570TU:
    - essentially same chassis as M570RU... but with HDMI and e-SATA
    - refreshed motherboard with new Montevina platform

    Clevo M860TU:
    - also using Montevina platform
    - like other Clevo gaming notebooks, its using MXM Type IV

    For both:
    - still using MXM Type IV
    - 9800M GTX is still not fully confirmed (like last year when 8800M GTX was rumored to work in these units, now it came out), but MXM-IV will stay as Nvidia's forefront mobile platform for high-end videocards.
    - both will be announced and up for ordering as soon as Intel announces their new CPUs and chipset.

    New D901C:
    - will support desktop Penryn CPUs (including new quad-cores)... with BIOS update.

If I am reading this correctly, they are suggesting that the 9800M GTX will fit in the new 15" Sager as well... is that right?

all the Clevo's are still using the same slot.

So in essence, they should all support the same cards.

So the RU-U might be able to take the 98M GTX ? sweet, that`d be cool. The first real upgradeable graphics in a Clevo.

Even so, I`ve heard that the 98M GTX won`t be far better than the 88MGTX, certainly not twice as good as the previous gen( 88M GTX vs 7950GTX anyone?)

Just to clarify, does that mean that the current crop of D901Cs will support the desktop Penryn CPUs so long as the BIOS in the current D901Cs is updated?

In other words, does this mean that everyone who currently owns a Sager NP9262 will be able to upgrade to a Penryn CPU with no more pain than a BIOS upgrade?

Sorry if I repeat repeat myself. :D

it seems that way from what I was told.

But wait until Sager officially announces it... which should happen shortly.

The current D901C (9262) has all requirements for the Penryn support, only thing left is the BIOS.

Well, subject to the possibility that Clevo won't bear you out - a fact for which I would not blame you in the least - I would have to say that that's pretty good (if qualified, for now) news, and another very good reason to buy a D901C now.

    Awe, I was really hoping for a 15.4" WQXGA (2560x1600) ;)

Although it might take a triple-sli laptop to drive such a display so I guess they will reserve it for the 17"er.

Okay, now that we know that these pristine new beauties are in the offing, can I ask a really crass question that must be on the minds of quite a few of us forum lurkers and gadflies: Any chance of seeing a price drop on the current NP5793 or the NP9262?

Yeah, I know, that's like totally disrespectful, but come on people, I've managed to eke 5 years out of a Sony VAIO Z1A, so you just know I'm a tight-wad - I pinch pennies together so hard they don't just squeak, they sing himalaya-high falsetto. :D

Yes... this is an Alienware m15x killer... [ by features and price.. and NOT by looks]

now we have to see if alienware adopts this model as its m15x barebone itself eh .. less likely though..

i've heard that alienware had some stiffs withs clevo.. [ i may be wrong ]..then they are moving away... they did not get the M570RU as any of its models... and they are paying some lofty amounts to some barebone manufacturer for developing SLi 8800 GTX which is just clevo's [and dell's ] forte...

after dell acquired alienware.. the company has been very inconsistent with their products.. all delayed.. even till now..

i personally like the flashy looks of the m15x.. but wasn't asssured if it will last for a long time.. i trust clevo like no one else..

Clevo was moving away from mainstream 15" models..its glad to see them back.. they are the best.. It seems like SAGER will adopt the M860TU as a model... and as far as we can smell... it is going to be a HUGE hit...

i'm keeping my eyes on this model..

    cheers..
