I always thought it meant "to be compatible"![]()

any estimates on price for 8800 model?
-
Hmz ... does this mean the "old" M570RU won't support the 9800M?
-
No, it doesn't even mean that the new one will support the 9800M with the first motherboard. Forget about upgrades. Think about upgrading when you actually have the card on the market.
There are no price estimates for any future model. -
http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=m570tu1l7b.jpg
this pic says the new one will support it
I hope for Clevo they don't mess up like they kinda did with their MXM-claim. ^^ -
i would like 2 see spec sheet for the 8860Tu
-
I already uploaded the Spec sheet of 570 and 390 in first post days ago......
-
i know but can u upload the m860TU's sheet?
-
Well it is not in my hand now, my friend borrowed it and hasn´t been returned yet.....
-
OK, thanks for everything Kmond
-
Why isn't there a BlueRay-player in that 560 :-s
I want to use my 1920x1200 screen to play movies... -
If the new model supports the new gfx card, shouldn't they be the same mxm-#, or is the new mobo compatible? Any ideas? -
MXM-III card fits in MXM-IV slot/space
(just like MXM-IV can hold a MXM-III card) -

lol i think you just said the same thing twice. but I didn't know that they were backwards compatible. Hopefully clevo is pulling away from the mobo upgrade and just doing bios upgrades. Would cut costs by plenty!
-
Just saw the new Price update for Montevina platform, QX9300 costs 1038USD.....
M570TU can support this EX processor, hopefully still with the OC Option in BIOS. -
I`ll have to ask Kaltmond, since it crossed my mind to OC, how did you get to 650? mine won`t go over 587, nTune will fail the test....and what`s your score, to see if it`s worth it
-
I like the T9600 and the T9400
-
I wonder if the 15 incher will be able to OC?
-
I would think so....
-
lol, it took me a while to notice it, but this is the first time in two.. maybe three years that Clevo made a gaming 15.4" laptop (with Chaz's one being the last one).
Sager filled this void with compal as well as many other vendors, but I wonder what will happen now.. will they stick with compal for their 15.4" line or will they go back to clevo? -
I don't think the Compal is a real gaming laptop. It doesn't have a good enough GFX to have earned that name (IMO)
-
What Compal?
-
That is not a 15 inch Compal, it`s Clevo M860TU
-
last year Sager used the Compal IFL90 to fill the 15.4" w/gpu void since Clevo didn't have a model that had a dedicated GPU in that size range.
the year before that Sager used the Compal HEL80
it was in 2005 that we saw the last Clevo 15.4" laptop with a dedicated GPU being used by Sager.
so it will be interesting to see if this year if Sager will go back to using Clevo for the 15.4" w/gpu laptop or if they will stick to using Compal. -
doh! They'll use the new Clevo M860TU
-
I havn´t tried nTune, so i dono if it will pass the driver test....
Here is my 3dmark results. -
Well I don`t know what to say. If your card can play the newest games better, I`d say it`s definitely worth it.
Not that I mind playing newer games at WUXGA/2 (960x600 ) since it doesn`t look half as bad as people imagined, but I`m a fps freak. I can`t stand under 30 fps gaming.
At WUXGA/2 UT3 , 5/5 details runst 50 + fps. Biggest surprise for me.
At WUXGA/2 Crysis all high, objects on medium averages 24 fps.
All Source based games run superbly maxed out, except when in heavy fighting(I`m talkin WUXGA,max details, 4AA and 16AF,20+fps. Still, I`da rather WUXGA and no AA and get 40+.)
So I was wondering if you`d share some results: 3dmark score, and gaming benchmarks.
Since I`m getting the 88M GTX or hopefully the 98MGTX this summer, I`m willing to push the 7950GTX a bit until then. -
Just upload the Specification list of M860TU

nice kaltmond, but I'm confused.... these are penryn processors in the M860TU? and what is that lighter shaded GFX card? What happened to 9800? The memory supported still says 800-1066 though. maybe this notebook isn't so hot after all? ah well theres still the m570TU
-
NB9E-GS, maybe 9800M GS?
-
Same dimensions as the m15x...
I wonder if they will have similar heating issues. Thoughts? -
i think it should have less heat problems since now they are using a montevina mobo and proc wich hopefully creates less heat and leaves more space for cooling system(since they are also smaller pieces)
My 2 cnts -
the main m15x issue is the heat of the 8800m GTX, but I actually believe that it overheats / has to underclock because of a poorly designed heat sink. (only 1 copper heat pipe leading to fan)
I think clevo has a good chance to get a better working heatsink then that of the m15x, all they would have to do is designate a little more space for the card, to have an additional heat pipe in there -

why does the spec sheet say penryn proc? is this incorrect?
-
no it isnt incorrect, the montevina platform uses 2nd gen penryn procs. The penryn name comes from the 45nm arch used to build them but the ones that appear on the spec sheet are montevina specific procs (so far), if u look closely those arent the same frecs that are being offered by the actual penryn procs
-
yeh, they are penryn with 1066FSB.
-
auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
yeah. I said that earlier about the specs not lining up. lol. I just get all worried when I see things that don't make sense when they should. I mean it'd be a great notebook with just penryn anyways but I'd always like to have montevina when it comes out.
-
the m860tu comes with DDR3 RAM.... so if there are 2 sockets... they will be for DDR3 modules..
the price of this notebook might well be around the $3000 mark then.. because of the DDR3 RAM.. we have to pay premium price for them..
It is waayyy tooo powerful than the alienware m15x... anyone can guarantee that... -
hmmmmm spec sheet says nothing about hybrid graphics (M860TU)...
-
hybrid graphics is a joke..until it can be done on the fly...downclocking the card ( like we have now w. many cards) is much, much more practical and easier/better, as most people whom buy a "gaming" laptop don't run on battery. Those that do, most often aren't gaming.
-
I don't understand why people talk about the 9800M GTX when the 8800M GTX hasn't been on the market for even half a year. Why would you think about upgrading when you don't even have the card to see what's what (nor the notebook)? Sure, the M57xRU was also upgradeable to 8800M GTX, but with a new motherboard, so why would I believe Clevo when they talk about "upgradeability"?
-
While it's true that that means it's not upgradeable PERIOD, it is still upgradeable, without MB change. And for most people even without too much troubles (S3 isn't used that much anymore as I understand it from the reactions on this forum). -
Up until revision 3 it wasn't supported at all. Revision 3 = S3 problems.
-
auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
its just always nice to know that we'll be able to upgrade in the future. But your right. We can't say forsure whether it will be bios or mobo. but trend shows mobo soo... thats all we can go on for now I guess. I'd be just as happy with 8800. Darn, I don't want to pay a premium.
-
the graphics card issue.. it is for the heat sink design flaw. That might be a reason of the m17x getting delayed.. -
BIOS or firmware?
this could very well mean I'm screwed ^^
since I think my BIOS is rev 2 -
He means MB revision. U can get that at Ram slot.
-
I'll need to check that out first then ^^ -
Yes, motherboard revision. I could be wrong, but it doesn't happen quite often.
