How similar are the prices actually? The VAT in the UK is 17.5%.
PS: I don't think that Clevo officially supports these new Penryn CPUs. I would wait for some official word on this matter.

Off topic. Is there any VAT to be paid when buying electronics from UK to Finland for example?

You would pay the UK VAT (17.5%), however there is no extra VAT when importing into Finland since both countries are in the EU.

    Ok,
pretty much definitely going to place my order today.
Just one questions though, Shall I go for vista x64?
Seeing as I am getting it with the system, I don't think drivers will be an issue.
I am getting 4 GB mem, but are there any other factors to look at?
Are the Nvdia drivers up to date on 64bit? etc etc

i have to say the custom paint costs are way too expensive

    Lid and surround = £ 110
Lid, surround and logo = £175
    full chasis = £220
full chasis and logo = £295
    special edition = £380

so i configured the as close to the same config as possible at both Kobalt and XoticPC

    this was the Kobalt
Total £2023.37 with VAT and shipping (i think)
    Comanche

    - 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Tech Support
(Extra 2 Year Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)

    so overall XoticPC is cheaper £2023.37 - £1956.98 = £66.39
so is it worth getting from XoticPC to save £66.39, i think not even if Kobalts prices are still a bit steep. though i think if ya going to max out the system quad core, dual 8800m's 4GB ram ect then i think you could be looking at saving £300+ if you get it from XoticPC so its a hard choice i want max but i dont want to go bankrupt^^

As you probably seen I have been looking at the max spec too. I'm was also in the same quandry. However the max spec on kobalt uses the new penryns, which although not officially endorsed by clevo will be covered by the 3 year collect and return warranty.
What really has sealed it for me though is the fact that if anything goes bang, or for any reason you have to return it for warranty work. It will cost AT LEAST £150 each way. That pretty much swallows up the difference. It will also be easier to deal with an english company for any issues rather than email/phone tag with an american service agent on different timezones etc.

Just twiddling my thumbs now until 10:30 when I can phone kobalt and order!!

Maybe 30% or a bit more, from what I know... a single 8800M GTX gives upto/just under 10K in 3DMark06 while 2 give about 13K.... Not worth it at all, IMO!

i dont care bout 3Dmarks all i care about is game performance, i may go for the single config and MAYBE upgrade when the prices have dropped, any chance that a 9xxx card would work in the 9262?

Game performance too shouldn't be too much better.

Ask the Crystal Ball.... only it can answer that.
