Just wanted to pop in and say that this utility is AMAZING! Good job OBSIDIAN! :)
I have a Sager NP9175 (CLEVO P775TM-G) at home so this is very handy to have. I no longer have to randomly check Clevo's website for driver updates.

I'm sorry to hijack this thread again, but is the free license gone? All I want from it is the driver versions notifications :/

No. Working fine for me. Check your internet connection - if the utility cannot connect to the server, it tells you that you don't have a license.

How do you get the "free" license? I just bought it once today for a laptop I sold, and I was going to buy it again for my new laptop.

Also I am having to activate every time I boot. At least it's only a 3 digit code but that doesn't seem normal.

By supporting the OBSIDIAN TOOLS (purchasing it) it allows us to increase our codding team and dedicate more time to it.
Here is the next app we will be releasing....
Just because im kinda sick of reading "bla bla bla CLEVO fans suck..."
You will be able to create you own fan tables, happy now?
This was the first day of the UI design... and yes... it already works just fine :p

Which license tier will this be available in?
Btw. why can you see the option to purchase a license only from within the app? I accessed your website using a different (non Clevo) laptop and only saw an option to dowload the app. Please put up a page showing various options, feature comparisons, modes of payment, etc. I'm from India, and foreign currency transactions are a REAL pain.

This will be a totally independent app. Did not even thought about the commercial side of it.

We are redesigning all our Network:

-Internal software (production, warehouse, management, support) coded the system from scratch - DONE and managing the company is a delight now!

-code team website: http://www.code.obsidian-pc.com - DONE (will be improving it over time)

-new main website (info, news, models, benchs, etc) - In the making

-new laptop shop (multilanguage) - In the making

-linux laptop store with new obsidian software (en language only) - In the making

As you see there is tons to do! Hopefully it will all make sense in the end and it will be easy to navigate.

This application will work with any BIOS, and will be available for purchase? Or as usual - "this is a super cool app just for our laptops." :D :)

Free for OBSIDIAN laptops, at a price for other systems I think...

Hopefully, a free license for NBR users. :)

Really, you should publicize your utilities and BIOS updates better. I did the market research before buying, but I found out about OBSIDIAN-TOOLS only after I had bought my Eurocom Q5.

I did find a way - I bought my laptop that way. It took me 11 days to BEGIN paying for it. It took ANOTHER 15 days to finish paying for it - in instalments due to the limit on how much can be transferred in a single transaction. TOTAL 26 days from invoice to final payment. Would I want to go through that again? I think not. If John@OBSIDIAN-PC can set up a retail outlet in India where I can pay in INR, I'd definitely be interested. Otherwise, I have to beg.

Btw. while the OBSIDIAN tool is great for keeping drivers updated, it falls down when installing drivers following a clean install. Update all option leaves a lot to be desired. There is not feedback about what it is currently downloading, or what it is installing. I had backed up the entire folder and was trying to install from there, but it insisted on downloading everything again. What's the point of keeping a local cache of drivers - over 2 GB - when you are going to download everything again anyway?

WOW! Nice. Does it strictly only control fan speeds or can you also set a temperature limit (primarily regarding the GPU)?

Do you mean something like those dials?
It´s fail safe security, there i will use some safe values like no matter what you choose on the manual table if it hits 90ºC on CPU or GPU it goes into max (like FN+1), then goes back to whatever you had before.

Btw, i already used the "Silent Profile" all day, love it :D

    Some cool stuff:

Each Automatic Fan Profile (Silent, Regular, Extreme) is hand crafted with 120 steps!!!
You will still be able to toggle between our designed auto profiles or use the EC profile.
CPU Temp and Load (Top Right) are fetched using Open Hardware Monitor wmi, which i probably trust more then anything coming from CC.
For Security there will be minimal thresholds which you cant go lower, for example, a 7700K reaching 98ºC will always trigger max fan (same as F1).
The fan adjust range REALLY goes from 0 to 100% fan rotation.
More details as we keep adding :D

I´m really sorry for that, the "Update All" option is probably the one which is lacking the most.
I will try to push some work on it, in the meanwhile i really do not recommend using it.

I think moving the folder from drive to drive disturbs the validity of the locally stored drivers and the app downloads them again. Probably an NTFS thing. The drivers themselves are fine - I installed some of them from the drivers folder and they installed just fine. I should just leave the tool in my D drive and run it from there itself the next time I clean-install Windows.

If you don't mind my suggestion, I'd like you to replace the large spinning starburst that is displayed while the app is doing anything with a small one displayed alongside the UPDATE/INSTALL button corresponding to the the driver currently being installed. That will give us some feedback as to what the app is doing. You could refresh the 'installed driver' field after each driver is installed to show the updated status.

A title bar, or something that you can grab to drag the app window and reposition it as desired, would be nice, too. E.g. I like keeping Task Manager beside it to monitor downloading speed.

The status of the installed fingerprint driver is not showing; it says 'none detected' even after installing and rebooting. I'm guessing it's a security/permissions issue, but running as admin doesn't help. Not a big deal, just a bit confusing. You could try different methods of getting the driver info to see which works best.

Again, thanks for the app. If you want someone to beta test stuff, I'm your man.

That looks fantastic. Anything that allows me to have any meaningfull say in the RPM's of my fans is very welcome. Especially if later it becomes possible to pull in other temperatures, and use these to decide the fan speeds aswell.

HWinfo. When you open Sensors it'll ask you if you want to read EC readings for clevo notebooks. Ah, you've meant in John's app. If it's possible in HWinfo, then it should be possible here too.

I'd tried every app I could think of when I got my laptop. Nothing worked. Just downloaded the latest version of HWinfo. Still no joy. Not seeing the Clevo tab. They seem to be enabling support for Clevo EC based on motherboard string, and mine says EUROCOM Q5, not P95x. I'll contact them and see what transpires, although John's app will probably be better.

so @John@OBSIDIAN-PC new windows spring update kicked in, making the Soundlbaster v18 incompatible with the Clevo P6(5/7)0-RS/G this is because realtek drivers that auto install are higher versions tha the tools.

Luckily the Sounblaster v19 and Realtek Drivers for the Clevo P6(5/7)0-/HS/G Works fine and the program functions again

Just fyi - new CCC out for the P650HS-G - 5.0001.1.80 - was released 29/5 so just a heads up. Downloading from Clevo now at snails pace.

It's actually been a while since my Obsidian Tools has highlighted a new driver - the manual "refresh" search only lasts a couple of seconds and doesn't report anything new. The only driver it suggests is the Intel VGA one which is always there because I run on dedicated GPU only (discrete mode). No big deal, just kinda surprised ,as to begin with it was prompting for new driver installs at regular intervals, and all seems to be a lot quieter now.

Hello and thank you for your efforts in helping community members like myself.

I have an EVOC Clevo P870TM1 and was thinking about using your utility. My question is about how the server gets its updated files?

Run Utility -> Utility checks LOCAL vs REMOTE "your server"
    If different
    GET REMOTE version.

I fully understand how this all works but just curious as to how the REMOTE SERVER is keeping its files up to date? If its a manual hand process, this utility is likely using outdated drivers labeled as "latest". Just looking for clarification!
