    No... don´t use that version!!
That was a temporary beta that should not be used anymore.

Are you all able to change the Fan Modes? It keeps switching back to normal Mode everytime i try to change it.

    Hi there,

I own a clevo laptop and installed this software utility but after a few minutes the laptop freezes and the fan starts the speed up. I uninstalled the software but still the laptop has the same issues. I this a problem related to obsidian? I was trying it to maybe but it later.

    Thx in advance

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC
Got a service hang-up after updating Fan Control and Keyboard LED, so tried to reinstall and laptop suddenly went to reboot(?). After clean reinstall, got a message in the end of installation "NTPort failed to start" or something like that. Although, the program seems to be working properly now, it still feels a little laggy, and it closes with a big delay.

That just means you activated "Power Modes" in Control Station but you didnt even take time to look at all settings...
Take a better look... isnt there a option to overwrite the fan control mode??? :p
You can setup a fan profile for each power mode ;)

Did you use the new full installer?
Can you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and in the task manager check if "CLevoService" is running?
If so then the uninstall is not complete... just open a CMD as Admin and type this:
    sc stop ClevoService
    and then:
    sc delete ClevoService

Thats it... Now about the freezes you had, what software did you use from our suite? Fan Control or Control Station? Did you use any feature from Control Station like CPU Tuning or Power modes?
What laptop model do you have?

Sorry for that reboot... that was just a silent installer missing the /norestart flag.
The error you got after means that everything was actually installed, the installer is a bit crappy, its a Install Forge setup. To make this "smooth" we need to make our own installer from scrap. But dont worry everything is perfect with your install.
The "laggy" in fan control is just because that is just a UI and i set the priority to normal... the UI itself does nothing, it just sends your controls to the service, no point in having it hog resources just to show values...
The time it takes to close if for security, to assure that when itś closed the fans are restored to Automatic mode.

After updating Chipset software to 10.1.17833.8098, IME was set to 0.0.0.1 (expected)

However, after "updating" IME multiple times, and rebooting multiple times, it won't be detected as 1828.12.0.1152.

I even tried the save a copy of driver option, and run the .exe manually and did a repair install, then rebooted. It still shows as 0.0.0.1

I just experience the same thing when updating my Intel Chipset drivers. I also have tried to update my Intel Storage and Wi-Fi drivers, but the updater never sees the updates. It now always sees the previous version as installed. Very strange.

Tried 1828.12.0.1152 INF for manual install via Device Manager?

And why on earth updating Intel Chipset "drivers" on a alredy working OS? http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-by-obsidian-pc.801464/page-111#post-10633395

Did you reboot after the Intel Wifi and Rapid Storage as per instructed in the message that shows after installing the driver?

Are you guys running an updated ME Firmware?:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/important-security-updates.811312/

I will further investigate why that is happening, it happened to me once or twice too...

    Yes I did.

I was not. Should I be or does this affect Updater?

I fixed the issue by going to Device Manager -> System Devices -> Intel MEI device, right click, Update Driver, which installed 1828.12.0.1152.
I noted before I did this when viewing the device in Device Manager it did have version 0.0.0.1 installed.

So I've just updated FC to 2.0.2, I didn't remember what the old version was, but I was prompted with the dialog asking to install as a service, and install some driver. Can you please explain and how to uninstall them if I need to remove FC?

Just open a CMD as Admin and type this:
    sc stop ClevoService
    and then:
    sc delete ClevoService

Proper installer / uninstaller is underway!

    Just use the full installer...
    Close everything and run this:
    https://www.obsidian-pc.com/LaptopTools2.zip
If it shows any error just select "IGNORE" it´s ok.

Just re-insert your order number then, we had to reset all settings that´s why.

I have no idea why FC2 suddenly does not work properly anymore after I shut down and boot my laptop again. The Clevo service is still there. I tried to restart my laptop again but the problem still persists.

so the fan problem is solved, now I noticed the keyboard backlight doesn't come on at boot and it only light up when I hit disable and enable it again in the software, same for the light stripe at the front

edit : hum weird, I tried to boot one more time to see if it does it again and now it's working fine so maybe it's my computer..

    @john
    BUG:
keyboard led app doesn't correctly apply the 3 zone fixed settings. The left zone is not applying the color.

Also, auto dim option actually shut down the leds a couple of times even though i'm the dark and it was showing 35% brightness. ON-OFF on auto dim option caused the led turn back on without touching anything else.
EDIT: nvm i'm dumb, by autodim you mean shutting it completely off as for standby :s, I'm stupid.

Humm I'll test, was going to swear my left zone was working just fine.

PS. Your not dumb at all... Auto-dim is not the right name for that feature. I have a really hard time making everything as intuitive as possible. That type of feedback is what often makes me reconsider stuff and make it easier for everyone.

Can you check your User Documents folder and tell me if a LaptopTools folder exists.
It seems like the system is unable to save settings.

Will the Fan Table feature be returning, or will all the user modes just be Manual mode from now on?
I do love fan tables and its usefulness for using GPU fans at lower speeds to assist pushing away heat during CPU intensive operations on shared heatsinks, and that beautiful table was so much more intuitive than these weird dials and sliders.

    John,
I ended up restoring my pc as the cpu fan nor the gpu fan were working and my processors were starting to cook. Now after doing that everything is peachy again. The only weird thing I noticed is that when you set custom settings for the fan it goes up to 255 or something crazy like that. Should it be going that high?

The user documents folder does have a laptop folder in it with fan control and updater folders. But again I restored the pc and reinstalled (this time with no errors) the tools.

So it seems both the Keyboard LED and the Fan control don't apply the settings at startup. They do put themselves on the mode, but don't apply the settings.

What settings are you talking about?
The fan mode maybe? Careful since Control Station can overwrite the mode.
Or do you mean the actual sliders and knobs values?
Those are loaded to memory and applied by the background service.
Tested on all sorts of models and it's working as intended.
Can you explain a scenario for me to try to reproduce?
For example: extreme mode, put all CPU sliders to 255, reboot... Is it applying or not?

Yeah I put the fan mode to max fan for instance, when booting up, it still is on max fan, but doesn't apply it. I have to reselect it.

didn't try other modes, but I'm sure u'll figure out why that is :)

Also any clues why the Fan control made the Keyboard LED not apply on startup? having to reselect everything does seem bothersome :3

As someone was saying about left zone of the keyboard, I noticed, that if auto dim is enabled, left zone immediately disables without any delay, although center and right one are slowly shutting down.

To add to the above comment, it also looks like the zones don't active/deactivate at the same time when using single zone mode. They seem to stagger when coming on, and they all switch off instantly rather than dim slowly with auto dim activated.

The dim effect was actually not intended. The purpose is just disable after x amount of time. I will rename that.

While fan stuff is full Direct EC communication the keyboard stuff is not.

Everytime you send any command to the EC you are spiking your DPC latency. So it's ok when you are actually manually clicking a control to do something, or applying a bunch of stuff at boot, but, when it's background stuff happening I can't allow any DPC spike.
That's why stuff like the reactive zones went away... If a user left that on and started gaming or working with time critical tasks like audio it would be causing spikes in the background.

The solution is doing direct EC access for keyboard too ... Which is going to take a lot of time to do.
So for now I'm getting rid of all unattended stuff that spikes DPC.
