Yeah when I purchased it I chose P751DM, please change it to the correct one.
So are all the drivers going to be the same for my P770DM? Or will a select few vary?

    Thanks!

    Hello all,

I asked a few days ago over at the official clevo lounge here if Sager downloads was the best or only place to update drivers for our laptops. I bought a little over a year ago a Sager NP 8156, and the website shows drivers from Feb of 17. That seems a little old to me, but no one responded to my question. So I've been doing some digging, and is this application what we need to update the latest drivers for our laptops then? I went to the purchase area and it doesn't show NP8156, so I don't want to just buy it if it's not the correct software.
Anybody enlighten me on this please? I'm looking to reformat my pc with a lot of stuff I've loaded on it and refresh it basically, so that's why I'm looking to get the drivers and such up to date. I'm guessing there isn't a bios update avail or you have to call Sager because I don't see one on the download section on their site and this obsidian tools said you need to get it from the manufacture.

    Thanks...

If you login in the website and go to your order details the codes should be there.
    I'm out until tomorrow sorry!

I'll second that ask, since it looks like it's applicable to my laptop, I would be interested in both as well.

    Thanks for any info.

As for the correct driver selection, @aziraphaleUK, got it right. You may be wondering as to why the option listed is slightly different, but the NP8156 is equivalent to P65xHPx(-G) for any number x and is reflected in the owner's lounge title as much:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...er-np8155-np8156-np8157-owners-lounge.801201/
Sager's download page for a given model is another alternative, but it isn't the best place to go for current tested drivers. Fortunately, John offers an up-to-date constant stream of drivers to download directly that in my opinion is well worth the cost to support, especially when considering his other free-to-use apps. It is community-sourced, so if by chance, you see a newer driver you can let him know to test it to add it to the official database.

    And for the BIOS:
First, I'd contact your reseller. They'd be the foremost source for info on your BIOS. I know that the Sager NP8155, NP8156, & NP8157 series never received a Prema or Svet unlocked BIOS for that matter. However, if you purchased through Obsidian-PC, then you'd be eligible for updates for John's own BIOS. If none of the above apply to you, I'd go through Sager directly for their updated stock BIOS. They should provide you with a link to download the BIOS along with instructions on how to flash the BIOS correctly.
Here is Sager's email: [email protected]
    Phone #: 1-800-741-2219 (US domestic)
    Phone #: 1-626-964-4849

You're in luck, for the most part. You missed the discount for the Fan Control and Updater as they were limited to 20 coupons located here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/obsidian-tools-promotion.823266/#post-10800058
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/obsidian-tools-promotion.823269/#post-10800200
Within a month, all the available coupons had been used, first FC sold out then the Updater.
But, fear not. A new discount is just around the corner in Movember!
Fan Control's price has been lowered to €25 as John has posted to mark the new beginning of FC 2.0:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-by-obsidian-pc.801464/page-302#post-10814835
The price is the same as when the previous €10 discount was applied given there was a €5 pre-sale discount, so now's the time to get it! The Updater, however, is not discounted at the moment.

Hey John, I'd like you to add a very cool feature to KeyboardLED that Razer Chroma laptops have, that is when you press the Fn key all normal keys turn off and only Fn+related key is lit up. Some very cool details.

But I guess that only applies to per-key-RGB keyboards which as far as I know you haven't started work on =D

Not sure if its been mentioned, but I have random brightness minimisations on FC 2.0. Oh and GPU #2 is disabled, although maybe you just havent got to that yet...

...also, opening keyboard app out of CS puts all fans, (look! there's GPU fan 2!) on max and then slowly ramps down...

Fan Control 2 is a work in progress. But FC2 doesn't play well with keyboard Led and Control Station.
I will need to update both apps before I can release the final version of FC2.

Also, not sure what version of FC2 you are using, the latest beta was made last Friday (same URL for the installer).

    AHHHHHH crap, my bad.
Let me explain, Updater is now multiuser, which means we no longer start it by using a Schedule Task.
What happened is you have two startup items, one in registry and the other in the schedule task.
Please open windows Task Scheduler and delete the "Updater" entry....
I kinda forgot that would happen when i released this last update.

    That should not be happening.
I will do some testing and let you know if i find some scenario where that is happening.
At the moment i can only think that each user (in case of a multi-user windows install) will have to activate it, because it now uses independent settings per user. Once each user activates it there should be no more activation prompt.

Truth be told, this multi-user thing, the ability to install it anywhere and the no admin access, all seem like 3 simple requests from users... but man... this gave me A LOT of work.
I did my best to test all possible scenarios but i´m sorry if anything went past me without notice.
If you guys find bugs i´ll do my best to solve them in record time and push updates as always!

I would also like to say that there is now 726 active users for Updater! :)

Not in my case, it's a fresh single user win10 pro install(even the laptop is new one).

It's not a big deal (I've memorized the order id lol) but kinda annoying so just fix it when you get time. PM me if you need me to test something.

    Deserves more than this :)

Also finding max temp is way off the mark on fan 2.0... it’ll tell me 81deg when core temp is telling me 91...

    Hi,
Lately I have realized some issue on my 775DM3 with fan controll. On manual mode the fans are spinning 100%. I have checked the temps around 40-45C both on cpu and gpu, the fans should spin around 10-20%, but they run at full speed. I have checked and if I set the last temp bracket to 20%, then they chill down... any clue what is going on?

That might explain why I'm getting much higher temps on 2.0, even after converting all my fan tables over. Yes I factored in the change in precision :)

I didn't actually compare it to Core Temp, but CPU and GPU temps were considerably higher when using 2.0, which seems to me like maybe the temps aren't being picked up correctly and therefore not loading the faster fan table?

I've gone back to 1.x for now as it's too hot on 2.0

Fan Control 1.2.6 should work perfectly fine, tested it on almost every unit possible.
It´s all about tuning, check each temperature range and slider until it´s tuned the way you want.
Be sure you are not triggering Security Values.
Be sure "Monitor" or "Fan Control 2" is not running at the same time.
Be sure CC is not running.

AND... very soon, it will all be pointless (wasting time with fan control 1.2.6) since we are very close to release Fan Control 2.

PS. Software competing with EC communication does have unwanted results, we noticed that running HWInfo probing the EC for FAN rpm for example, messes the communication.

    Ok guys.

We just pushed the Fan Control 2.0 update!
Update away and start reporting problems.

Almost all code is new soooooo.... bugs might be present.

How does fan control work now you may ask?
    - No more DPC latency crap, we wrote a full service that will be used by all our apps to talk to the EC
    - Ultralight service, around 4MB RAM, 0.1 to 0.4 CPU usage.
    - Apps like fan control are only for GUI stuff now, which means they use 0% CPU when minimized
    - NO Windows WMI stuff causing memory leaks...
    - Multi-user capable
    - No Admin escalation needed
    - All modes are now based on Sliders and Knobs with up to 4 user presets
    - Each user preset (Manual, Silent, Normal, Extreme) can be reset, create a backup, restore a backup
    - All user presets are now pre-filled with example values
    - Bigger resolution, each slider goes from 0 to 255 which allows finer tuning
    - Fan Update interval goes from 50ms to 500ms (with double the resolution you need faster update)
    - Some options have been removed (they will be ported later)
    - Current EC reported Fan Duty values available in the information tab in Fan Control
    - Double Security by Question / Answer methods between fan control and the EC service

I wish... there´s a keyboard LED re-do that im about to finish. And the new one will also use the new service...
There´s a Control Station update in the same shoes too, and it will have new features.
There´s a brightness library i need to finish for the Brightness change in MSHybrid models.

    1) One problem that is also persist in FC 1 is even I totally didn't use GPU, both GPU and CPU fans still spin together when only CPU temperature is high. I would like to see it only spin CPU fan. It seems like this behavior will trigger when CPU temperature hits CPU Max Fans Security.

    upload_2018-11-9_22-37-27.png

    2) What's the name of service? Clevo Service?
    upload_2018-11-9_22-30-26.png

    3) Is this intended behavior? I update it from 2.0.0 to 2.0.1.

Thank you! Released an update... update away!

I can probably add an option for that, although it´s not a good idea!!! Most laptops use shared coolers, so if any reaches a dangerous temperature (CPU or GPU), by spinning both fans we can actually cool it down faster!

Yes, not the most creative name i know...

Yes, by default we dont use admin access, and when needed we will ask for your permission! By doing so we increase security and less unicorns are hurt.

Since you other apps will also have its service. Just name the service as app name like Fan Control to be Fan Control Service.

Btw since Fan Control 2 now is using service, can I expect it will run at Login Window instead of like FC1 that needs to login to desktop?

For now we are not applying anything at boot.
The service is waiting for Fan Control to start working since each one polices the other for safety.
I will probably add that feature in a future release.

ClevoService is the only service, ONE service for all 4 apps.

    Keyboard LED updated to 0.2.1

    - Now uses the same service as Fan Control...
    - More responsive ui
    - No admin access needed
    - Multi-user
    - Removed Zones reactive to temp/load... WHY? same old... it causes DPC latency and we are now re-coding everything for no latency!

It's just a tiny QoL update in my opinion but could the "update" button of the control station check for the update on all the apps too?

I mean, it's a control station for a reason, it's the BOSS app.

Some operations do require admin access, does your account have admin access to allow for those operations?

    Hummm do a full shutdown.
Turn it back on. Try installing ME again.

Hey John, I wanted to ask if something can be done about per-key RGB systems in KeyboardLED. Even something like single zone fixed on and off is fine. Thats the only reason I still have CCC installed :(.
Great job on all these apps BTW!!!

Would you mind telling me your username?
You can send it by PM, the only thing i´m thinking is maybe a problem with your user files folder.
Also, you can try re-installing the full laptoptools package.
