    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

    Hi !

Do you also have custom bios for your p955et1 ? Is it the same used for your p950ep6 (currently unavailable on your website) ?

About p955et1, can i ask you a little info (a bit ot here):
it seems that it's available in europe only with 120hz tn display 94%ntsc.

But i've found out that these 2 displays.

    15.6-inch (39.6cm); FHD 1920x1080; 60Hz; Matte; IPS; 700:1; NTSC 72%; 30pin; LG LP156WF6-SPP2
    15.6-inch (39.6cm); FHD 1920x1080; 144Hz; Matte; IPS; NTSC 72%; 300 cd/m2; eDP; 40pin; LG LP156WFG-SPF2

are 100% compatible with p955et1 (reseller eurocom confirmed this).

You told me in some past chats that you have successfully switched displays using ones from other units in your factory.

Do you know if you have any left unit in your warehouse with one of these two displays ?

If so, would it still be possible for you making the replacement ?

Could you (if you can) personally check this ? Chat operator told me it is not possible but maybe you know more info about this.

John, I think that it would help a lot if you exclude from KeyboardLed_HACK.exe all those values, that you know for sure that controls keyboard LEDs.
It will speed up testing, because I don't have to pay attention to keyboard when trying new values like that.

    Hi,
I have install my favourite fancontroll on my new 775tm1, works like charm. However the keyboard backlight does not do anything :( I have reinstalled, and no matter what I set, it does not change the keyboard color... what do I do wrong? :)

ps: I wiped down all previous version, they might have been mixed up, now its working ok!

Has anyone been able to get the control station to load on Windows start? I have the option ticked, but I always have to manually start the app.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC Is this known / expected behavior? My options are in the screen shot below.

Hummmmm it should work out of the box.
It just uses a delay start... 30 seconds I think.
Are you using standalone or the old LaptopTools package with everything in same folder?

I just noticed that I have the same bug. I'm using standalone versions and I did a clean reinstall when I switched from old laptop tools to standalone

I`m getting more and more tired with Win10 crap. Is your software pack (KeyboardLED especially) compatible with Win7 64bit?

I'm using the standalone app. It was a clean install after completely uninstalling CCC and the old LaptopTools package.

    Thanks for saying. :)

Now I notice you put Control Station startup at scheduled tasks instead of regular Windows startup that will auto start the app every time u enter desktop. That's why sometimes Control Station will start automatically and sometimes will not start automatically.

    I'll redo that.
Just a bit busy at the moment!
But since CS needs admin a regular startup is not enough.

I cannot update the Intel Chipset driver since 3 weeks through the updater. The driver is installed successfully and after a restart i'm back to the old version. The Nvidia VGA driver i had to install 3 times before it worked.

I believe you can click anywhere on the window to drag it. Try and drag it to the top so that the "resizer triangle" at the bottom right corner is visible and there you go.

This happens when you go between different DPIs, especially on my multi monitor setup.
First, exit the Updater application completely.
Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\LaptopTools\Updater and open updater.ini (preferably in an application like Notepad++, in case any non-ASCII values exist)
Remove the line that starts with mainWindowGeometry= and save the file.
Next time you open Updater, it should be at the default window size.

This should work for all the other apps too, except you edit different ini files in different folders inside LaptopTools.

    Hi John,

First of all happy new year (to everyone)

Since reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 10 a month ago and then installing all my drivers etc using updater i've had constant crackling and audio popping. Happens all the time mostly when system sounds play etc. Its driving me bananas. Anyone know a common fix ?

This may or may not fix it, but try opening your realtek HD audio manager from the system tray and opening "power management" (looks like a blue battery above the OK sign at the bottom right) and un-check "enable power management". Lemme know if that fixes it.

I think I've encountered a bug with the keyboard-led tool. Right now I'm using the complete control-station suite and uninstalled CCC.

After around 30 minutes of normal usage (bit of browsing etc.) the brightness control keys stop working (fn+f8/f9) and the laptop won't go to sleep when closing the lid or using the sleep button (fn+f12). Selecting sleep from the shutdown works fine and changing brightness setting from the windows control panel also works.

So far I found out that if I open the Keyboard-led app and change a setting (changing the keyboard brightness) everything works fine again.
Let me know if you need any more info, or if I should check something.

update: When I set the 'auto turn off' option on everything seems ok. So the bug seems to happen when the 'auto turn off' option is off

Did the LED control tool lose the ability to respond to certain inputs (e.g. CPU load) in a recent update? I used to use the all-in-one, but moved to the separate installations based on guidance previously given in this thread. I wonder if that might be part of the problem and whether I'm missing a way to hook the different tools together.

It lost that possibility because that was causing bad behavior due to a way too heavy query load. Don't remember if John said he would try to re-implement that feature when he gets the best communication system for fan control

Yes we removed that feature since it caused DPC Latency, basically when you change the keyboard led it will use ACPI, by doing so it increases the DPC lag.
Fan Control used to suffer from this so we started using another method which does not causes lag. Until we find a way of doing the same with keyboard led we can´t have features like that.

I wondered whether that might be doable if Keyboard LED could talk to FanControl, as a bonus for those licensed users. Run cool, look cool :)

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

I was wondering why TS wasn't autostarting and I noticed that the standalone controlstation still creates a task that points to ThrottleStop subfolder in the old LaptopTools folder. Guess no-one is using TS or still has the task pointing to a custom location.

Pretty sure ControlStation removed the ThrottleStop stuff some versions ago. I no longer got the tab in the app after updating to standalone a while back. I just repointed the startup task to a different folder for ThrottleStop.

All my apps already are able to exchange data among them. All my apps can also get data or send data to the same service that fan control is using to talk to the EC.
If you have the service running then it is currently the service that applies the LED colors, if you don't have it running it will be KeyboardLed after asking for admin access.
Now the problem is not which apps does it but the method itself.
The EC service I made can get temps and send fan values to the EC because there was already public code showing how to get there but there is no code for keyboard stuff so I would need to spend a lot of time to figure it out.
In the meanwhile no matter what app changes the LEDs, the method is always the ****ty and laggy WMI/ACPI.

Control Station will show TS tab if TS is present in a Throttlestop subfolder.
But indeed there is a error in the task creation... Will fix it soon.

First, i LOVE your software! Its much better and stable then the CCC. Iam happy.
But some problems i have with all obsidian software installed. Clevo P71ES 1070GTX and i7 8750

    1. Can´t change brightness: FN and F8,F9 shows the slider, but brightness doesnt change. tried 3 older Intel VGA driver, no result
    2. FN and NUMPAD + - x / dont work for LED keyboard settings
    3. FN and F10 dont switch on the kamera
    4. No OSD when pushing FN& F1

My CPU Temp is after a short time of playing on 96°C... What you think? I have undervolted the cpu with Obsidian control Center. What else to do? Iam thinking of liquidmetal, but the laptop is new and i dont work with LM in the past.

I just got the Updater tool a couple days ago but for some reason the programs doesn't show up anything when I run the software. I tried a few attempts on getting it to show like checking multiple displays or trying to change the project settings on Windows but nothing is working. The program shows up on the taskbar with nothing on the preview but a few changes on the display would start to show up again but can't move it or find where it is located. The funny part is that the rest of the suite works and showing up perfectly fine. PLZ help!

The 8th gen processors will do that - the turbo boost power grossly exceeds the capability of the package+cooling system to get rid of that much heat, so the CPU will tend to sit at the internally set throttling temperature. Scary, but there's 'progress' for you.

The brightness problem was fixed with the latest Windows Update / Intel VGA - For MS Hybrid Mode
There was never a problem with the DISCRETE mode.

Some FN keys that require software drivers to work have been disabled, not sure if i´m adding them again, that used a keyboard filter that used to cause BSODs... since CLEVO never fixed that we are not using it.

We will add some OSD stuff but we will use the Windows API, that´s what it´s there for.

96ºC is just too much, i would rather limit the clocks / power to make it never go above 90/92ºC... When we assemble these units we tune them to never go above that.
We use some advanced assembly techniques, but some stuff you can do on your own, like using high quality thermal compound (Thermal Grizzly / IC Diamond / etc).

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC i managed to fix the Throttlestop not starting with windows by simply fixing the task xml in the settings folder to the correct path!

I'll attach it here in case anyone needs ThrottleStop to initiate properly with ControlStation:

The fix is for people who have the ControlStation in the following folder ONLY:

    C:\Program Files\ControlStation\

    Just do the following:

Extract the file: ts_task.xml to your desktop and copy with CTRL + C and paste it in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\ControlStation\settings

Make sure you replace the existing file with the one attached here and there it is!

ThrottleStop now starts properly with windows :)

And if you disable it from starting with windows inside ControlStation, the file won't be deleted! Enjoy people :D

    Simple fix eheh

Disabling the keyboard filter allowed all of the FN functions to work, mind you. The keyboard filter was 100% useless.

Everyone SHOULD disable the filter driver, there's even a option for that in the Control Station software under the Windows Tuning tab.
It took me a while to code that, not only safe removing the driver but also check on app start in case it was installed again by some driver.

Oh I'm not saying no, i just meant that with CCC installed if you reg-edited the filter out, all the fn commands etc still work perfectly. The filter is COMPLETELY useless, and only hinders a computer.

I bought and activated fan control, but even after making my own fan curves, it doesn't change anything. Doesn't seem it can bypass the original EC. Even if i press max speed, no change in fan speed.
I have 775dm3, prema bios. Uninstalled Control center and installed your own control station.
Do you have a solution ?

I have the exact same model. Works and was actually developed using the same model.
Check if you don't have some AV software blocking it.
Try re-installing it, if errors popup just click ignore.

Will Control Station allow me to setup my Clevo/EVOC PA71ES-G to "Quiet Mode" so that the fans don't run as loud?

That's about the only thing I really dislike about the laptop... the fans are just too loud. I am use to very quiet laptops.

Also... will it allow the keyboard lighting time-out adjustment, which CCC will not retain?

    Thanks!

Or maybe I need Fan Control, which I will gladly purchase. Does "Silent Mode" keep it any quieter than stock settings?
