When you press the connect it takes a second to connect or so...
Make sure the IP is correct.
Make sure Windows Firewall is not blocking the ClevoService, open Windows firewall and create a rule with ALLOW (out/in) for this exe:
    C:\Program Files\FanControl\monitor\ClevoService.exe

Exiting the app and opening it again, or even changing the layout from Landscape to Portrait (rotate your phone) will force UI update so you can try it to refresh it faster :D

    PS

First tab for my Latency Fixer is done:

For anyone who wants to keep updated about all my apps i made a new website NON OBSIDIAN-PC AFFILIATED!!!
Which means nothing that i write here should be considered as a OBSIDIAN-PC opinion but instead it will always reflect my personal one.
This website is not even hosted on OBSIDIAN-PC webserver, it´s hosted on my small server and there´s nothing for sale here, just development news, and a list of apps that i´m working on.
    https://johnkeelnas.com/

Also follow me on Instagram (link in that website).

And for anyone who sent messages asking if i could take donations for the free software, in that website there´s a " My Apps" link which will list all apps i have at the moment, on the bottom of that page there´s now a " donate" button. If you donate let me know to what purpose, tell me where do you want me to spend time.

I do get a lot of messages asking for special features, more fixes, support for more models, iOS stuff, and so on. Unfortunately at OBSIDIAN-PC i need to concentrate on the brand most critical software side, so i leave all the free stuff and special requests for when i´m at home. BUT please understand i´m limited to the hardware i have:

    - I do not have a P870
    - I do not have a Per-Key RGB keyboard
    - I do not have an iphone or any iOS device

The list goes on.... i already have a hard time justifying doing free stuff at OBSIDIAN-PC (which is who pays me at the end of the month). And my free time is limited, so if you want me to push some sort of new software or feature just tell me which and donate, even if it´s 1€ it is CRUCIAL that you select what you want...

Here´s the current roadmap for free stuff:
-Control Station will keep being free, and there´s a bunch of requests in the list
-Keyboard LED, also a bunch of requests (specially P870 LID)
-Will have another version of Control Station (for fans) which will work with any PC / Laptop, no matter the brand (will just remove specific CLEVO stuff)
-DPC Latency fixer.... not sure about the future of it, it will depend of the coding hours i have to put on this, if anything i´ll keep at least a free version with the most important features working
-Remote Monitors will keep being free - I want to add more options in the Android version to customize the UI and add Alerts!

Control station>Windows tuning>Apply brightness fix on start is working great on my P957HR. Is it possible to extend the functionality of this so that it applies the fix on waking from sleep and resuming from hibernation also? I have to check and uncheck this option every time for the brightness to... er... get fixed.

That bug is something MS already recognized, it should be fixed in an update (i was even under the impression it was already done).
As a temporary fix you can do this:
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/78839-clear-live-tile-cache-start-windows-10-a.html

I was going to do this and noticed the code is already there.
There is already a post resume function to call all the fixes after resume.
Can you tell me if you have the "Disable Fast Startup" option selected?
Is Control Station really running when you put the PC to sleep?
Does your username require password to login? -> just so i can test myself

It´s actually not a bug with Control Station, what Control Station does is query XTU and if it replies "Invalid ID" then there´s no core 5/6/7/etc it does not show the UI boxes for them...
XTU sometimes bugs out, and replies Invalid ID when it should reply the actual Core 5 multiplier.
So make sure your XTU is updated.
Maybe i´ll try to add some code to query it twice.

Also make sure you are running Control Station 1.2.7 and it´s installed in C:\Program Files\ControlStation

I disabled fast start which turned off the hibernate option, so that problem is 'fixed'. It is now properly applying the brightness fix after waking from sleep.

Remaining problem: I have set (in power options) to turn off my display if the laptop is idle for - say - 10 minutes. For testing you can set it to 1 minute. When the display goes off, touch the touchpad or press any key to wake the display. In my case when this happens the screen is at full brightness. Unchecking and rechecking the 'apply brightness fix on start up' is needed to be done every time.

Control station is running - active or minimised to system tray - makes no difference.
Username requires password to log in on start, but not after waking up the display.

Off topic: since the nVIDIA display driver is the largest in size, if you suggest to users to download it from nVIDIA website, that should save you a ton of bandwidth. They can see which version to download from the updater app.

I´ll check if that triggers any even i can catch!

    hey john
i can comfirm as i verified it twice that this windows update on creative drivers breaks up the app and doesn't let it work anymore ( the app won't detect the card anymore).
    https://gyazo.com/55fb8f164927f10fa92b77c805cbc122

easy fix, apart from reinstalling realtek drivers, i just reverted creative drivers from device manager with a click and it was working again

then i disabled windows update thing to update my drivers ( hoping it works)

I can confirm that it does not break mine. Maybe you are missing some certificates.
Disable Windows Defender and any other AV software it may be blocking a part of the install process.
Install SBX and then install Audio Again.
    That should do it.

i had done your suggested steps already to restore its functionality last time .. the problem is windows update. . when it installs that update it breaks on mine, i don't know what is that . If i install sbx from your updater there's no problem, the problem is with the 33 version that windows upgrades after a while

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

Actually that should be a different issue. They should be aware of my issue too but I don't think it has been fixed yet.

What happens to me is that I have blank tiles: tile background is ok but no icon appears untill I kill the explorer.exe process.

Example: I pinned MS Office application to tiles. These tiles are static because there is not animation, just colored tiles with the app icon in the middle. On boot/wake up, many times the icons disappear and you only see the colored tiles. If you kill and restart explorer.exe the icons in the middle of the tiles magically appear again.

I will post an image if it's not clear

    Hey John,

Thanks so much for sorting the KB LED's.
Im having an issue with FC Third fan however. Going back to @jcadduono 's problem, mine is doing similar, except it is only doing in when 'Clone to CPU' is enabled.
It mostly does it under load, and seems to be confused between Primary GPU fan values and CPU fan values. If I ramp up the Primary GPU slider whilst the CPU is idle, the second GPU fan engages, and If I switch it to default it stops doing it. ITs been that way for at least the last three versions. It kind of just huffs and puffs its way through stuff...

That means you have only one GPU correct?
(I´m assuming that based on the fact you want to clone the CPU fan).

EDIT: Released 2.2.9 version which should have that sorted. Please Report Back!

    Sorry. No. (v1.2.8)
If I turn off the option to enable power modes it still wakes with full brightness.
If I enable power modes, I have to wait minimum 5 minutes for the display to turn off, but it still wakes with full brightness.

Please give me a list of settings in the Control Station so I can mirror the settings you have used for testing. Note also that my P957HR is that auto switching Optimus thing, currently running on Intel GPU. If you like, I can run something to force the switch to nVIDIA GPU and see if that helps.

It wakes up with full brightness, ok, BUT, does the brightness keys work? Are you able to manually change the brightness when the display awakes?
Because the brightness level on awake is NOT related with the "Brightness FIX", the only thing that the "Brightness FIX" does is enabling the brightness change keys / windows setting.

I have buy a p775tm1 with 9900k and RTX2080, fantastic PC. I am setting up in pc in order to search for the maximum yield with the maximum stability, if someone can be interested in sharing the data concerning the CPU. I wanted to congratulate John because thanks to his tools I managed to achieve amazing results, then the fan app is phenomenal..I have a request concerning the center control widgets. can you create one with the consumption of the CPU and the GPU with the relative temperatures? It would be a truly valuable tool ..

No. Can't change brightness at all, not with the function keys, not with the sliders in Control Station, not with Windows Mobility Centre. Only after I uncheck and recheck the 'apply brightness fix on startup' checkbox am I able to adjust brightness, and then all three methods work.

I appreciate your difficulties. I tried setting the screensaver to 1 min and enabled the option to prompt for login on resume, and then I'm able to catch event 4800 (workstation was locked) and 4801 (workstation was unlocked), but then I have to login every time (not too bad with fingerprint login, but there should be a better way). I'll keep digging.

EDIT: does PowerActionDisplayOff help in any way?
You need to register for power events, but that's probably done anyway.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/Power/registering-for-power-events

I'm well aware of the fact that this is not your problem - you're very kindly providing a fix for what Microsoft and Intel broke - and I thank you for your efforts to make our lives easier.

What amazes me is that i can´t reproduce this in ANY of our laptops.
When the screen times out and then turns back on the brightness still works.
Capturing the screen on or off is not as easy as it seems, i already have a native event filter and there is no message for when that happens.

    Still... i´m still trying...

    Can you test this one:
    https://johnkeelnas.com/files/BETAS/ControlStation_BrightFix.zip

    Download that
    Extract it
Close your Control Station (really exit it)
And replace your ControlStation.exe with the one in that zip file
ControlStation is located at C:\Program Files\ControlStation\

Please tell me if that fixes it for you....

No. Problem is still there. No change.

I'm using your Updater, and all the drivers are as per the selected model P950HP6 (my laptop is P957HR, details in sig). Only Sound Blaster is ahead - 2.0.0.33 as opposed to 2.0.0.19 in your list.
OS Windows 10 Pro x64, United Kingdom, Version 1809 Build 17763.379
    i7-7700HQ 16GB RAM, GTX1070 MaxQ (8GB VRAM), HM175 chipset, Samsung M2 960 Pro 512GB + SATA HDD 2.5"
Apps other than what Windows installed - your stuff, LibreOffice 6.2.0.3, IrfanView, 7-zip, Firefox, Chrome, BatteryBar, qBitTorrent, LatencyMon, HP printer 3630 series. I'm willing to do a clean install if needed, but this install is just a few days old.

Put you screen to 100% bright.
Set the screen timeout (in windows power manager) to 1 minute.
Now look at it, right before it turns off, does it first go to 50% brightness (for like 2 seconds) and then it turns off?

I can probably catch that, register some hooks for keyboard and mouse, so that after that even, as soon as you touch mouse or keyboard the fix gets applied again.

No, my display just quietly goes black - no interim dimmed state.
Btw. there is no brightness slider in power options with W10 build 1809.

Something really weird is going on. In ControlStation, I had set the brightness to 20%. I moved the slider to 100% like you asked, then opened Power Options and changed the display timeout to 1 minute, but when I clicked 'save changes', the display immediately went back to 20%. Changes to brightness made by the slider in ControlStation don't stick, but get reversed when changes are made in power options while changes made by the Fn keys or Windows Mobility are persistent.

EDIT: after playing around with the settings a few times, this automatic reversal is not happening any more. The original problem (of the display waking at 100% brightness and the brightness controls moving but not doing anything, and the brightness fix needing to be reapplied) is still there.

For the brightness at 100% when screen is wake up I "found a solution". I don't know why but using the widget of brightness in the Windows 10 Action Center fixed the issue (clicking few times).

Works for me too. Good find. Clicking the widget repeatedly cycles the setting between 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 0, and so on. Nothing happens the first few times, but somewhere along the line the screen suddenly fixes itself.

Please report on new update Control Station 1.2.9
The screen should still turn on at 100% but probably controls will work.
This will probably be my last attempt since this does not seem to be affecting my clients units.
Already dedicated 8+ hours trying to blind solve this :(

Thanks. This works exactly like you said it would. The screen wakes at 100% but the controls work.
Really appreciate your efforts. I'm happy with this until Microsoft and Intel get their act together and fix this once and for all.

The only way to fix this as it stands:
get the screen turn off time value
Create hooks for keyboard and mouse to catch the user idle state time (amount of time without keyboard or mouse activity).
When idle time is bigger then the screen turn off time we can assume screen turned off
Then I can apply the fix plus set previous bright on next mouse or keyboard input

This would work for sure.... But the amount of code time it would need is not something I have available at the time and then I don't even know how app performance would be impacted.

Also I hate to code without even having a test unit where I can test and reproduce.

So for now you guys will have to live with this.

Hi John, I have a N850EP6 and I'm using your control station with FC and KeyboardLED. I'm hsving some issues with the keyboard LEDs shortcuts not working and basically the settings in KeyboardLED doesn't change anything. Is my model supported by the software?

It seems some resellers are using a Per-Key RGB keyboard, we do not support those at the moment.
If Fan Control works then there´s no reason for Keyboard LED not to, unless, as stated above, you have a per-key keyboard.
I wish i could get my hands on one to add the support but i would probably need to buy a laptop just for that which is more then i can invest for this app, being free and all...
    Sorry about that.

Just to rule out any botched installation, what's the recommended procedure to uninstall and reinstall the programs?

Each program includes it´s own uninstall button (all but Control Station).
Use the in-app buttons to remove all, then use the standalone installers (follow my signature)

Nope did not made that option yet.
You need to do it in the BIOS.

It came to my attention that certain models like the P370SM3 have the fans swaped in Fan Control
    Basically GPU1 is GPU2 and vice-versa.
Can anyone else with SLI models confirm this? Is it only the P370SM ?
This is only true in SLI mode.

Hi! Not sure how big of an issue this is but the updater is identifying my laptop as the Erazer X7841 when I have the X7849. Do I need to be worried about this?

I tried out the Fan Control program and I only ever get "A critical service is not responding. Can we try to relaunch it?" quickly after the GUI opens. No fan or temperature info is reported by the program.

I have updated the Fan Control program at least once, and on both the initial install and the update I allowed admin access when it requested it. I am currently trying version 2.2.9

I am using Windows 7. I have not yet tried my Win10 install as that is borked and I haven't felt like fixing it yet.

I am curious if my strange BIOS and hardware setup may be an issue. I am using a P150EM mobo with a P170EM EC, and a P370EM3 system bios modded to have the iGPU enabled (thanks Prema!). I am thinking maybe the EC and BIOS combo may be confusing the program (it does list 2 GPU fans, which is wrong). A P370EM3 EC will probably cause a brick without some mobo mods (The EC's 37x series GPU2 fan control is a system reset line on 1xx series), and I haven't felt like trying it out because of the work required to unbrick.

Updater shows you the model information that was inserted in the BIOS model string.
If Updater is showing Erazer X7841 that´s because who ever made your BIOS wrote that in the OEM Model line.
Not a big deal, if you indeed know which is the correspondent CLEVO model and you have it selected it´s fine!

I NEVER tested any of the apps in Windows 7.
Basically Fan Control is compromised of two essential things:

    C:\Program Files\FanControl\FanControl.exe
This is the actual program you see, it´s just a GUI, does nothing but send the UI values to a Service

    C:\Program Files\FanControl\monitor\ClevoService.exe
This is the service that needs to be running in order to talk to the EC

So the first thing you need to check, is the Service running?
Open Task Manager, go to Services tab and check if ClevoService is actually running.

Some AV software might stop it from working (it´s rare but since AV software is the worst type of Virus it can happen).

If you want i can try to check your system with a remote connection, check if there´s anything i can do.

For anyone with older SLI models:

If you notice your GPUs are switched (GPU1 should actually be GPU2) use this new option:

Where it says "Fan amount optimization", the new P37x SLI option is basically a GPU1/GP2 inverter.

I have been meaning to report this problem for awhile now but just getting around to it.

I have a problem where the sound coming out of the speakers is now at 100% no matter what setting I place it at.

To better describe this problem, I open up windows sound settings and the volume slider says its at 2% but the volume coming out of the speakers is excessively loud. By changing the volume in the slider in either Windows or the Control Station, the volume never gets louder or quieter. There is definitely something wrong with the audio controlling.

I also went into the settings of the Control Center and "disabled audio control" but no matter what, the problem is still there. I don't really ever use the speakers much since I use headphones nearly all the time, however when I do want to use the speakers I can't because its either full blast or nothing at all.

    Hi man,

I had identical problem and you can also find the solution here a few pages before.

Uninstall all Realtek and SoundBlaster devices / drivers, use Obsidian's Updater and update Realtek drivers first (restart laptop) then SoundBlaster ones (restart again).

Once this is finished for both restart the laptop (third time) and then run Microsoft updater to see if there is anything missing.

Since then I haven't had any issues.

I fixed this approximately two weeks ago.

The reason for this was one of the previous Microsoft updates that simply borked the drivers.

    Cheers,
    Svargod
