@dtwn
bro, where's the Clevo D901C's DVD+RW spec you promised me?
and how's the ebay selling? you got a nice deal? -
It's a TSSTcorp L632H. -
Are the new 18.4 inch clevo's going to be shipped on April the 15th ?
-
Purely hypothetical though, but considering no one, not even Eurocom has made predictions yet, it will probably be a while away. -
-
I didnt get an answer when I first posted it so I thought I would post again since this thread has slowed down a little bit. Would we be able to swap the motherboard from the d900f into our d901c? I know there are a few differences that need to be accommodated casing wise (like esata and hdmi), but the internals seem like they are pretty similar. Only reason I ask is because I think this would be a cheaper option than buying a whole new system.
On a side note, K-TRON makes me feel bad about having a clevo every time I read his posts. I'm just praying that my d901c doesnt have as many problems as his d900k. Let's hope clevo improved since then. -
i would not trust these 130w hyperthreaded cpu's in notebooks. clevo did the same exact thing in the original d900t and their 125w Pentium 4 hyperthreaded chips....all of them died or will die pre-maturely, all of them. i would know. 3 dead motherboards on mine and i stopped paying for repairs after the 3rd death. it's just sitting in it's original sager backpack.
-
your system is new, though. give it 2 years, especially if you run software that pegs all 4 cores and uses 130w on a continous basis.
-
yeah..funny thing about that...i have 7 computers so i don't think i'll be burning anything up any time soon...and i may not even have this one much longer if the new clevos are hot.
also, we all didn't buy a d900 T
we bought d901 C's
they wern't plagued by the faulty motherboard. -

What you have basically got with the D900F is the cooling capacity of the D901C chassis but with a single GPU instead of SLI, that means that the thermal capacity the second GPU frees up more than makes up for the extra 35W from the new i7 CPUs over a 95W Core 2 Quad
Another thing worth mentioning is that now the memory controller is on the i7 CPU you will have less heat to dissipate from the motherboard chipset. -
Finally, "no SLI" in D900F has been confirmed by Neil Kobalt
-
did he tell you the reason why? is it because they dont want tot ake away ales from the M98?
-
read neils post, it's because they needed the extra thermal capacity/power for the higher wattage cpus
-
but we can always hope for D900G or something
with Core i7 , 2x GPU , 3x RAM , 3x HDD
Anyway, off-topic a little bit, I actually find Alienware m17x made by Quanta have a very good design. I think the Clevo D900 chassis should have exhanged the 3rd HDD slot and the ODD slot with 2x Optical bay slot. This way, you can add 2 more HDDs (using optical bay enclosure) or 2 more ODDs according to your need.
It's like D900K merged with D900C... -

I tried the 18.4 model yesterday. Played Crysis with the 280m SLI.
I cannot really compare because I am used to play on desktop but it should be one of the best looking laptop I have ever seen. -
Although I'm sure most people will be complaining about the glossy surface, the way it molds in with the LEDs and indicator makes it look very attractive and futuristic. But I really hate that keyboard layout and I wish it were 16:10 -
Let's hope Clevo keeps it's word on the "upgradable" promise this time.. -
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the TDP of one 280m is 75w, have a pair, you'd need 150 max. I guess you probably could manage that with a 65W C2D or S version of C2Q, pushing the thermal budget up to 215W max. Thats not taking the power draw of 3 HDD, RAM, etc into account.
With anything hotter, like the 95W Q9650, you probably can't do it. 150W+95W>D901's power supply. -
75w
75w
45w for cpu qx9300
the d900f is a desktop platform
75w
95w to 130w cpu -

Does anyone know when these models will be available in europe, and at what price?

Hope it worked -
-
I know it's not 100% accurate, but better than nothing -
btw, can somebody point to me, where is the web cam in M980NU?
I can't find it in the pic... -
http://www.laptopreviews.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/clevo-m980nu-notebook1.jpg
It's the white dot on top of the screen on the right. -
All that mirror finished plastic scares me
Dust magnet is putting it super lightly .
-
I though the small dot is screw. since usually webcam in clevo laptop is bigger and have metal surrounding. -
If AW doesn't release 4870x2 with DDR5 for the M17 and Clevo allows OC'ing on the M980U consider me sold, that's a very sexy laptop...
-
yeah it is.
especially the fact than you can switch to integrated GPU and saves battery. -
never used it tbh, and the japanese letters somewhat frightend me a bit
cant help it, but somehow the glowing "eyes of the leopard" reminds me of the "eyes of an alienhead"
im a bit worried about the glossy surface too, and the keyboard aswell, but most of all jealous on the one touching this notebook. this looks like a shop, and that confuses me a bit, as this nb isnt released yet.
like said before: i want the m98 with the surface of the m17 for the price of the w90
and hopefully dont get a m98 the problems of the w90 for the price of a m17 -
I dont like the glossy either.
-
I like the glossy look...
Are there any more news about these? specially the Clevo M980NU. Pics, reviews, rumors, sites that are selling him, etc lol. -
nope. just the same old 2 reviews being past around.
-
2 reviews? I only found one from a german site. May i know where's the other?
-
Well that was the german site i was talking about, because the first review was only in german, now it seems they have a decent english version, tkz!

on the subject of Glossy
Glossy RULES, basically because you are rubbing everybody's face in it when you have to clean those fingerprints of, making it shine again!
then again the core i7 is tempting especially since one 9800 ooh sorry "gtx280" is great and I know how good it would be to have a desktop processor in a notebook, even if it is like a paving stone -
Guys, I haven't been around in a while but is this DF900 machine the same as *THIS* Sager laptop?
But I thought some people were saying it wouldn't be out until the fall? -
-
No, different model.
This is the D900F

They also have the M980NU there also just click on the home tab. -
